Love our Naples Restaurant Scene
I spent 35 years in the Restaurant Business, traveling the country and working for leaders in my industry... From the Rainbow Room and Trustees Dining Room at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Wolfgang Puck in LA, and back to NYC to manage The Blue Water Grill in Union Square. After 9/11 I moved to Philadelphia to work for Stephen Starr and ultimately building my own company.
I love restaurants, and the people that work in them. I believe that there's no better 'life education' than working in a restaurant, and the amazing people you meet along that journey.
For our October, we ask our Instagram Followers and Friends to tell us their favorite restaurants around town and Why. Hope you are inspired to go visit the ones you've not been to, and support our amazing and growing restaurant culture in Naples.
The response was overwhelming, and I wish I could publish all of the wonderful submissions.
I'd like to acknowledge my favorite locations around Naples...
My favorite lunch spot Downtown is The Cafe, on 5th Ave and 8th. The food and hospitality are always top notch.
In Midtown, I frequent, Creme De La Creme, Try the Quiche and Chocolate Nutella Croissant, Trust me.
You'll find me most often at Del Mar for early Cocktails and The Vine Room after.
The Staff at Bayfront Inn are too kind to me and my family and friends, and I appreciate Matt, Missy and their amazing team.
On August 10th we held our 3rd Ladies Leadership Lunch at Del Mar. 80 Ladies came to mingle, learn and enjoy the beauty of Del Mar. Our next one is October 5th, hope you'll join us sometime for this special afternoon. Food brings us all together, and whether we are sharing a meal with loved ones or enjoying a night out on the town, the time spent while enjoying food is invaluable.
As always, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you around town!
Sincerely,
GREG DODGE, PUBLISHER @NAPLESLIFESTYLEMAG

ARTICLE BY NAPLES CITY LIFESTYLE STAFF
Moving into a new home, whether it be a vacation home or main home, is an exciting chapter in life, full of new beginnings and memories to be made. However, although a new home is exciting, the process of designing that home and then moving into it can be overwhelming, costly, and chaotic. This is where the expertise of an estate concierge and professional home organizer, like OCDOrganized, comes into play. Here are our favorite ways to make a new home a seamless and stress-free experience.

EFFICIENT PACKING AND UNPACKING
A well-organized home means a well-organized move. By implementing effective home planning and organization strategies before the move, OCDOrganized ensures that your belongings are packed in a systematic manner. An organized move allows you and professional home organizers to unpack with minimal effort. With everything in its designated place from the start, we make sure you can settle into your new home quickly.
TIME AND STRESS MANAGEMENT
Most homeowners underestimate the amount of time and stress that moving can cause. However, by investing in a home organizer before the move, you can significantly reduce both time and stress. Hotel Emma, San Antonio
ARTICLE
AND PHOTOGRAPHY
BY GREGORY DODGE
Once upon a time, nestled in the heart of San Antonio, Texas, stood a magnificent hotel named Emma. This historic gem was located in the vibrant and ever-evolving Pearl District, a neighborhood that had witnessed the transformation of a humble brewery into a thriving community. Emma, with its rich history and timeless elegance, was a testament to the district's journey.
The story of Emma began in the late 1800s when the Pearl Brewery was established. The brewery quickly became a beloved institution, providing the city with its signature beer. As the years passed, the brewery expanded, and its success attracted workers from all over the country. To accommodate the growing number of employees, the brewery constructed a grand hotel adjacent to its premises, naming it after Emma Koehler, the wife of the brewery's owner.
Emma Hotel became a symbol of luxury and sophistication, attracting visitors from far and wide. Its architecture boasted a blend of European and Texan influences, with its red-brick exterior and ornate ironwork. The interior was adorned with exquisite chandeliers, marble floors, and intricate woodwork, creating an atmosphere of opulence and charm.
Over the years, Emma Hotel witnessed the ebbs and flows of history. It stood tall during the Prohibition era when the brewery was forced to halt its beer production. The hotel, however, continued to thrive, offering its guests a respite from the outside world. It became a sanctuary for those seeking refuge from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

PEARL DISTRICT IS VERY SPECIAL, YOU’LL WANT TO RETURN AGAIN AND AGAIN
As the decades passed, the Pearl District underwent a transformation. The brewery closed its doors in the 2000s, leaving behind a vacant space that yearned for new life. The district's residents and visionaries saw an opportunity to create something extraordinary. They envisioned a vibrant community that celebrated art, culture, and history. And so, the Pearl District was reborn.
Emma Hotel, now a part of the Pearl District's renaissance, underwent a meticulous restoration. The original architectural features were preserved, and modern amenities were seamlessly integrated. The hotel's grand reopening was met with great fanfare, as locals and tourists alike flocked to experience its timeless allure.
Emma Hotel became a hub of activity within the Pearl District. Its elegant ballrooms hosted weddings, galas, and cultural events, breathing life into the neighborhood. The hotel's rooftop bar offered breathtaking views of the San Antonio skyline, becoming a popular gathering spot for locals and visitors to enjoy a drink while basking in the city's vibrant energy.
As the years went by, Emma Hotel became more than just a place to stay. It became a symbol of the Pearl District's resilience and transformation. The hotel's walls whispered stories of the past, reminding its guests of the district's humble beginnings as a brewery and its journey toward becoming a thriving community.
Today, Emma Hotel stands as a testament to the power of preservation and reinvention. It serves as a reminder that history can be cherished and celebrated while embracing the future. The Pearl District continues to evolve, with new shops, restaurants, and art galleries popping up, all contributing to the district's vibrant tapestry.
Emma Hotel remains a cherished landmark, welcoming guests from all walks of life. Its halls echo with the laughter and conversations of those who have come to experience the magic of San Antonio. As the sun sets over the Pearl District, casting a warm glow on Emma Hotel's red-brick facade, one can't help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude for the rich history that brought this magnificent hotel to life.
The Pearl District in San Antonio, Texas, was developed by Silver Ventures, a real estate development and investment firm. Led by Christopher "Kit" Goldsbury, Silver Ventures acquired the former Pearl Brewery site in 2002 with a vision to transform it into a vibrant mixed-use community. The company worked closely with local architects, designers, and community stakeholders to create a master plan that preserved the district's historic

character while incorporating modern amenities and sustainable practices. Today, the Pearl District is a thriving neighborhood that celebrates art, culture, and culinary experiences, attracting locals and visitors alike.
Christopher "Kit" Goldsbury was primarily involved in the food industry. He inherited a significant stake in the Pace
Foods company, known for its salsa and picante sauce, from his father. Under his leadership, Pace Foods experienced substantial growth and success. In 1994, Goldsbury sold Pace Foods to Campbell Soup Company for a substantial sum, which allowed him to pursue other ventures, including the development of the Pearl District in San Antonio.

In her eighth year in business, Jennifer has expanded her offerings to help guide women through nearly every stage of life.
Since welcoming her son, Bodhi, in 2022 she has expanded her focus from women’s health and nutrition to now include pre-conception nutrition, prenatal nutrition and postpartum nutrition. Jennifer will be welcoming a daughter this month, and through her own pregnancies and postpartum journey, she was able to identify a need that was not being addressed. Caliber Wellness Team
FOOD IS HEALING BY JAROD
WARD, CALIBER WELLNESS
From our clinical experience working with thousands of patients, there is nothing more true than food being a foundational aspect of health. What one chooses to eat will either fuel wellness or disease. As holistic chiropractors, many of our patients have the health challenges associated with the standard American diet (SAD). These include diabetes, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, systemic inflammation, and more.
One could argue that at the very foundation of the chronic disease epidemic is a singular problem: metabolic health disruption. Metabolic health is the body’s ability to burn sugar and fat as fuel. If one’s body is not able to burn both effectively, the entire body will suffer and blood sugar will be unstable. There are some wellknown conditions related to blood sugar regulation. For example, Osteoarthritis, a common arthritis, is sometimes referred
to as “diabetes of the joint;” sarcopenia, or muscle wasting, as “diabetes of the muscle;” and Alzheimer’s is nicknamed “type 3 diabetes” or “diabetes of the brain.”
The University of North Carolina published in 2018 that 88% of US adults were no longer considered metabolically healthy. This means that the vast majority of our population is on the fast track to the lifestyle diseases above associated with the SAD diet.
In our clinic, we emphasize whole foods, precise supplementation, and a wellness plan in order to help our patients completely recover from their chronic conditions. We run comprehensive testing on our patients with chronic health problems and achieve excellent results that often completely reverse these conditions in under a year. And this would not be achievable without recognizing that food is the foundation of a long and healthy life.

VINE ROOM
Kristine Mundl wrote into our Instagram in favor of The Vine Room. Referring to it as a classy, romantic, New York-style establishment, Kristine always spreads the word to family, friends and neighbors. “My two favorite items on the menu I would say would be the cheese trolley, and lobster roll. The cheese trolley has such a great presentation, great variety, and so tasteful. My favorite cocktail is the jalapeño margarita I typically have two per visit. Seriously, all staff members are so kind, polite, and so helpful.”

SYDNEY ROBICHEAUX AND NICOLE MONTENEGRO
Sydney Robicheaux and Nicole Montenegro, the founders of Casa Creative, have discovered a culinary haven that resonates with their tastes and sensibilities at Dolce & Salato . The duo enjoys spending a special Saturday brunch at the 5th Ave cafe and the occasional working lunch during the week. “We love to sit outside on the terrace and people watch and occasionally bring our pups!” They favor the Italian sub and crispy prosciutto salad paired with a refreshing Aperol Spritz. “Dolce & Salato is always consistent and you always know exactly what you’re going to get. Next time you’re looking for a new weekend brunch spot before the beach, head over to Dolce, grab a seat outside and order yourself an Italian sub and spritz!”
If you’re looking for a true “Old Florida,” casual Key West feel, The Real Macaw is for you. “I love that when you arrive you are greeted with a hug and a smile, transported away from the “fancy” Naples. But… at the same time on any given night you can have the “fanciest” of Naples socialites in the dance floor with the most local of locals. Truly is the “real” deal (pun intended) in the heart of the Bayshore Arts District.” The Key Lime pie and grouper sandwich are some of Amanda’s favorites.

MATT ANZIVINO
Matt and Missy enjoy The Continental for its fabulous cocktails and light and airy atmosphere. Their cocktail highlights include “Mezcal Maybe” and “Tequila Express.” “This was the first time I tried Mezcal and I’m hooked. The Bartenders are attentive and make amazing cocktails.” “We have been here a few times the first time on April 19th to celebrate Matt’s Birthday. We were so happy to see them reopen after Hurricane Ian, as we hadn’t been here since we moved to Naples. We recommend them to our guests.”
Andrea and Christian Galt of Galt Insurance Group have a special connection to the restaurants of 5th Ave. The couple has dined on 5th since 2002 and enjoys the many options downtown has to offer. “At the moment, I’d have to say Osteria Tulia is most near and dear to our heart as a couple,” Andrea says. “We ate at Tulia on our very first date away from our first born son, Boston, and I can remember it as if it was yesterday. We lived on 5th for a time, chose our current office location and had our first son during our stay downtown. Without all the delicious options I’m sure we wouldn’t be as happy!”

Roberta Baranek was born and raised in Chicago and has also lived in LA. “There are days where I miss the versatility of the vibrant restaurant scene in a big city. Ichi Togarashi scratches my foodie itch and is a breath of fresh air for downtown Naples. It has a casual ambiance with unexpected elevated food dishes.” Roberta savors the Asian street garlic noodles and the beef ramen teriyaki — “make it level 5 spicy!” she suggests. She appreciates the owners and staff for their kindness and level of care for the quality of food and dining experience. “I love taking people here because a lot of people missed this hidden little gem right off 5th Ave and it’s a great ‘new’ spot to show guests something different. It is a small intimate venue with limited seating. It’s casual and inviting. Pro tip, If you run hot you will want to sit near the air/fans because it can get a little warm.”
Nancy Weiss and her husband nominate Molto as their favorite spot to dine. “I’m passionate about well-prepared Italian food, and one of my favorites on the menu is the spaghetti carbonara with pancetta, eggs and black pepper, topped with lots of pecorino Romano cheese,” Nancy offers. She appreciates the fun eclectic style and suggests checking out the autographed photo of Sophia Loren at the bar. “This is a place where families meet to celebrate special occasions, friends share plates while drinking wine, and couples dine intimately. Everyone comes to Molto because good food helps to create lasting memories.”

THE CAPITAL GRILLE
Blake Renda and Julie Koester enjoy The Capital Grille for all sorts of occasions. “For business, we do a corner table in a back room away from the hustle so we can listen without interruption, and the seasoned wait staff is very attuned to how to manage “deal” dynamics when serving. For special occasions, we enjoy the bar lounge area as so many friends and colleagues are usually also there so it’s more festive, and if we are there in honor of a hardfought win or proud of a successful week for our clients, the bar is the place to be as Dave, Brian and the team are the epitome of service and are the perfect hosts, sharing the celebration with those who have become family. Like the luxury edition of Cheers!”
Michael Mazzei appreciates Caffe Milano for all occasions, calling it a “great place to celebrate life!” He tends to order the veal Milanese or pappardelle al ragu while watching the action from the back of the restaurant. He also takes pleasure in a smoked old fashioned at the bustling bar. “The food is authentic and flavorful, always spectacular! The icing on the cake is the experience which could not happen without the smart and involved ownership as well as the staff being so kind and attentive.” Notably, he can also order a bottle of wine with his namesake - the #417 Philip Mazzei Cabernet Sauvignon.

Gregory Sofranko and Kate Steinmann delight in the culinary experience at Sails . For a special occasion, they recommend the Sails fine dining experience. Alternatively, for a casual night out they enjoy the a la carte bar menu. Gregory favors the crab and avocado appetizer and the “little Joe” tenderloin paired with a virgin Moscow mule, while Kate enjoys a Passion de Mer specialty cocktail paired with the linguini or tagliatelle. “The potato purée is like heaven on a spoon,” she says. “Service is always top notch and friendly since our first experience years ago. Everyone works as a team to go the extra mile. The food has yet to disappoint and every dish is unique, packed with flavor and beautifully presented.”
Phil McCabe has his share of favorites in the Naples area. When it comes to special occasions, Bleu Provence is a notable choice. “My favorite thing about Bleu is the wine list, which is well-regarded as the best list in Naples. It is one of the reasons we have had many special occasions here, and will continue to in the future.” Some memorable classic French dishes include escargot and house-made foie gras. He also enjoys the beef bourguignon. “All of the staff are fantastic with personalities that make the restaurant feel whole. Of course I am closest with my good friend Clement, but the whole team makes me feel welcome every time I am in. I actually worked a shift at Bleu bussing tables a couple years back — a moment I got an inside look at an amazing team culture, with a close-knit family mentality. It is always the people and genuine hospitality that make the dining experience worthwhile, and they have it.”

Local Kate Cervoni champions Fuse as her favorite Naples restaurant. She loves to sit at the small and intimate bar on date night or any table when going with a group. “It is a small place with the heaviest door in Naples. The vide is personal and not over done yet welcoming. The owners and staff remember you and you can only acquaint that to the fact that once you go it’s a place you will frequent and be recognized.” Kate is a fan of their unique take on bolognese (“nothing like you’ll find in typical Italian restaurants”) and the Thai braised short ribs. Her favorite cocktail is the white cosmo prepared by Monika, part-owner and craft cocktail guru. “Monika really is the best mixologist in Naples. She prides herself on knowing her liquors and highlights new trends and tastes. The selection of whiskey and flights they offer is outstanding. Her husband is exceptional in the kitchen. The delicacies on the menu range from Kangaroo and Tom Kha soup to Burnt Ends and BBQ.”
Stephanie Reda, one of our cover models, has an affinity for La Trattoria . This comes as no surprise. “If I could tell you one thing about La Trattoria, it is to experience it for yourself. Massi, Luca, and the entire staff have done an incredible job in making this restaurant as great as it is, and it is one of the best restaurants on 5th Avenue for a reason. Every time I have a guest in town, it is the first restaurant I bring them to. They also have the most incredible bartenders that will make you one of their famous cocktails that look just as good as they taste! (Run, don’t walk to go try one of their espresso martinis.) La Trattoria is my family’s favorite restaurant to enjoy a meal together at because when you are there, you are with family.” While she feels it’s impossible to choose a favorite menu item, Stephanie suggests the pizza Margherita or the Caprese salad with grilled chicken. “One of the reasons I love La Trattoria so much is that whether you go during the week for a quick bite, for a birthday celebration, or for a late-night drink, you can always be guaranteed an amazing experience. The staff, the vibes, and overall atmosphere promise you a great time whenever you dine there. I celebrated my birthday there this past year and my friends and I had the best time ever! My family and I also ring in the New Year there each year and you can’t beat the celebration there.”

Lisa D’Angelo splits her time between Washington, DC and Naples. When in town, Lisa is fond of Bice on 5th Avenue. “I love to sit outside in the front for the people watching and live music. The side section outdoors for date night because it is romantic and intimate. In addition, the side section outdoors with family visiting because it is quieter and easy to have conversations. The bar area is also fun and easy to strike up conversations with locals or out of town guests visiting Naples.” Lisa delights in the branzino and calamari dishes, and typically orders an Aperol Spritz or a Negroni from the bar. “The staff are always friendly, professional and attentive. When you enter you feel welcomed. The menu is diverse and it is authentic Italian food. Some Italian classic dishes and other selections of non traditional appetizers. Their Happy Hour is a great deal to enjoy the food and beverages. We love dining at BICE then going to see the sunset a few blocks away or stroll 5th Ave to continue the night.”
Stepping away from the realm of downtown, Tod and Charlotte Schneider indulge at Trattoria Angela for any opportunity from date night, to nights out with friends or family, and special occasions. As regulars, they suggest to always see what they have for specials. “They are consistently a mouth-watering true taste of their hometown in Bacoli, Italy. Their tortellini and gnocchi are otherworldly.” They enjoy the authenticity of the establishment, explaining how owners Angela and Enrico often host their family members from Italy. “If you have ever had the fortune of traveling to Italy, you know that feeling of sitting in a small cafe decorated with Italian decor, the distinct aroma of home-cooked food, and the chatter of Italians working hard to delight you. One of the charms of eating at Trattoria Angela is that Enrico will happily take care of your wine selection. They have wines to cover everyone’s taste and all are very reasonably priced,” Tod shares. “Enrico and Angela have been wildly successful restauranteurs for decades, often in larger format establishments. All of this experience culminates into an intimate, authentic, family-run Italian trattoria sure to impress anyone.”

MEDITERRANO
Enchantin and reminiscent of the Mediterranean, Mediterrano’s atmosphere transports you as if you are on vacation. “As you enter Mediterrano, your first sight will be the vibrant florals as you go deeper inside it will melt into a serene color palette of blues and whites. The entire staff works in unison to make sure you are taken care of. All the entree’s flavors layer beautifully together, and all the details the chef puts into each plate compliments so well. This is a wonderful place to take your family and leave with another wonderful memory of an exceptional dining experience!” Twins Ariel and Hailey enjoy the branzino and beef tagine. “Every day is a celebration, when we go out to eat we are either celebrating an accomplishment or simply just another day of life!”
At the time of this writing, the reopening of Gumbo Limbo at the Ritz-Carlton Naples has been highly anticipated. Breeanna Ebben crowns this beachside delight as her favorite in Naples. “It is a relaxed beach atmosphere with good music and everyone is having a good time. How can you not when you are overlooking the beach in Paradise? The bell ringing at sunset is so fun. My kids love it! We love to go with friends and their families to spend a few hours.” The lobster quesadilla and coconut shrimp are her family’s favorites for a night out. Paired with a stunning Naples sunset in the backdrop, Gumbo Limbo is a crowd pleaser. “The Ritz motto is ‘we are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen’ and Gumbo Limbo staff and the whole Ritz staff in Naples have lived up to that motto! Breathtaking views of the Gulf, the sunset, the incredible food and casual fun environment make you want to keep coming back.”

A few minutes with.... GRANT PHELAN
"Great food, phenomenal service and to create an incredible dining experience." These are the goals Grant Phelan has for himself and his team at every Phelan Family Brands restaurant.
Raised here since he was 12 years old, Grant loves Naples. He is so excited by the opportunity in front of him with the recent acquisition of Yabba's Island Grill, Chops City Grill, and Pazzo Cucina Italiana on 5th Avenue South.
Grant praised former Culinary Concepts of Naples owner Skip Quillen saying, "He's a legend and iconic restauranteur in Southwest Florida. He assembled the best culinary team I've seen in my 30+ years in the hospitality business. Chef Jason Mattozzi of Chops Grill in Naples is so talented, and he will be overseeing the culinary operations in all three concepts on 5th Avenue.
Replacing the golden location of Yabba's will be Keewaydin's on 5th Avenue, an upscale casual seafood concept with a raw bar. They've completely reimagined the decor of the restaurant, with a major focus on the inside/outside bar area.
Grant believes that the Chops City Grill is the "best steakhouse" in SWFL. He believes that Chops "grew expensive" over the years, and is looking forward to reintroducing a "price point friendly" menu November 1st. Until then, you can visit Chops in Naples and Bonita Springs, and take advantage of the Locals Discount of 40% off until October 31st. Good Luck, 5th Avenue Chops has had a line out the door since announcing the special deal this summer.
Grant does not plan on changing much at the beloved location of Pazzo Cucina Italiana. He will be celebrating its rich history by bringing back so old favorites from the past, Best of Pazzo.
Check out these and all of the Phelan Family Brands at PhelanFamilyBrands.Com

LADIES LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON
ARTICLE BY LAUREN ROSSI | PHOTOGRAPHY BY GREGORY DODGE
In a spirited celebration of the businesswomen who graced the city of Naples, the third event in our Ladies Leadership Luncheon series promised to be both intellectually invigorating and socially enriching. City Lifestyle Naples, in collaboration with esteemed Garramone Plastic Surgery, cordially invited attendees to an event that embodied the essence of progression, camaraderie, and empowerment.
Anchored by the principles of "Learn. Grow. Launch & Connect," the luncheon series is a beacon of inspiration for women of all professional walks.
The event unfolded its narrative of empowerment at the elegant Del Mar restaurant on 5th Avenue, where the ambiance itself reflected the sophistication and aspiration of the event's attendees. A delicious lunch, curated to perfection, delighted the palate and provided a conducive setting for the exchange of ideas, stories, and aspirations.
Central to the event's charm were the eminent speakers who graced the podium, imparting their insights and expertise across a spectrum of topics. The meticulously crafted schedule
offered a holistic experience that kept attendees engaged and enlightened.
We were delighted to host Summer and Megan from Southwest Florida's Blue Zones Project and Amy and Kristin of BMO Wealth Management, who educated the crowd regarding their respective fields.
The event's allure extended beyond the confines of the itinerary, with ample time provided for networking before and after the event. The Ladies Leadership Luncheon was a celebration of ambition, determination, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. It stood as a platform where the stories of trailblazers merged, where connections were forged, and where aspirations were catalyzed into action. As the sun set on this remarkable gathering, attendees carried with them not just memories of a beautiful lunch, but a tapestry of ideas and inspirations that undoubtedly shaped the next chapter of their leadership journeys.
We hope you will follow along and join us for the next Ladies Leadership Luncheon. Please visit our social media @napleslifestylemag to stay up to date on the latest City Lifestyle Naples events.

THE FLAVOR OF FALL
ARTICLE BY ANGELA BROOCKERD PHOTOGRAPHY BY JANIE JONES
Apples are the trademark fruit of fall, and with the many varieties to choose from, there is an apple that is sure to please any palate. They can be included in both sweet and savory dishes and are delicious and incredibly healthful. We all have heard the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” While they aren’t a cure-all, apples are packed full of polyphenols, antioxidants, vitamin C, B vitamins and fiber. Make the most of autumn’s best produce and the flavors of fall with this simple recipe.
APPLE GALETTE WITH CARAMEL DRIZZLE
Easier than pie but with all the same textures, this gooey warm dessert is sure to please. For simplicity, this can be made with a premade crust.
INGREDIENTS:
Crust:
• 1 1/2 cups flour
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 stick cold unsalted butter, cubed
• 1/4 cup iced cold water
Filling:
• 2 apples, peeled and sliced into thin slices
• 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
• 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
• 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• Caramel sauce
• Optional: 1/4 chopped walnuts or pecans
INSTRUCTIONS:
Crust:
(Note: If running short on time, store bought crust works great, too.)
Mix flour, salt and sugar together in a bowl. Cut in the butter. Add water and mix until moistened. Lightly knead the dough and then form into a ball. Next, flatten dough into a thick circular form and refrigerate for one hour.
Filling: Mix the apples, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar together in a bowl.
Assemble and Bake: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the dough into a circle and set on parchment paper. Arrange apples in center of dough, leaving about one inch of space for the edges. Fold crust over the apples and press to seal edges. Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with pecans or walnuts. Bake for 35 minutes. Serve with caramel sauce and ice-cream.
