LIFESTYLE LETTER
Style Focused On Comfort, Sustainability, Individuality It's nice to see tailoring re-emerging in men's wear, but not in a rigid or formal way. I'm trying to embrace the varied flexibility in clothing. Suits now often are meant to be worn casually, with a rugby instead of a button-down, or broken apart. I like that touch of ruggedness thrown in. Light-as-air sport coats, with all the interior construction removed, means you can wear them like you would a cardigan or shirt jacket. Fabrics, such as linen, cotton and corduroy, are easy to wear and care for. Lightweight wools serve as temperature regulating while looking stylish. We have plenty of choices for lived-in looks, including straight-leg jeans are back. Choices are good when it comes to style, so we can all do something a little differently, if we'd like. In this edition, we also spotlight other aspects of style, such as in luxury living, hair extensions, skincare, community services done specifically in Boro-style and smiles through proper dental care. Plus, feel free to join us by preparing your own crab boil to mark the passing of seasons, using our article as a guide. Whatever your personal style is, have a good time expressing yourself. New Poplar Hill Middle School Opens For 20262027 School Year
MMC Pediatrics Physician Named Best Pediatrician
Meet Freddie, Therapy Dog At Flourish Dental Care And Wellness
Poplar Hill Middle, a 169,000-squarefoot building in Murfreesboro, became the 53rd school in the Rutherford County Schools district. Capacity at the new school for sixth, seventh and eighth graders is approximately 1,300. The school, located at 3695 Blackman Road, cost an estimated $59.9million. The school’s principal is April Sneed, and school’s mascot is a bobcat. The school was built to relieve severe student overcrowding in the Blackman community and phase out portable trailer classrooms.
Congratulations to Dr. Brent Rosser, on staff with Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & Surgical Center, for being named ‘Best Pediatrician’ in this year’s Main Street Awards. Dr. Rosser likes practicing general pediatrics, and is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. He’s an active member of North Boulevard Church of Christ, and enjoys UT Football, biking, playing and watching soccer, history and spending time with his wife and four children.
Fridays are better with Freddie at Flourish Dental Care and Wellness, assures owner Rachelle FleuryWilliams, DDS. Freddie is the therapy dog and unofficial MVP of Fridays at Flourish. He’s there to help make dental appointments a little calmer, a little happier and a lot more comfortable. “Because sometimes the best part of your dental visit has four paws. Ask about seeing Freddie when you schedule your Friday appointment,” suggests Dr. Fleury-Williams.

Future Atrium at Fountains luxury condominiums will be steps away from premier dining, retail and lifestyle amenities found at the Fountains at Gateway. "Ground was broken, excavation is underway and reservations are being taken for these exclusive 50 condominiums, based on invitations and word-of-mouth referrals,"
A signature feature of the project will be its dramatic glass-roofed atrium, thoughtfully landscaped with live tropical plants as a stunning centerpiece.
says Scott Graby, owner of Hearthstone Properties and developer of Atrium at Fountains, 1540 Medical Center Parkway, Murfreesboro. "Future residences will be especially ideal for professional couples and active empty nesters, with little to no maintenance and landscaping upkeep. Everything residents need is right here." Luxury living is designed to blend seamlessly with comfort, tranquility and attention to detail at this $92 million five-story building, which will be directly across from the One Fountains Plaza four-story building containing corporate offices, restaurants and retail space. Scott says plans include also establishing an on-site holistic health complex, slated to be supported by nurse practitioners, nutritionists, chiropractic services, massage therapists and integrative general practitioners. "The new building will also feature an auditorium designed to host guest speakers, educational programs, theatrical performances and Atrium movie screenings," he adds. The location is designed to contain underground parking, private storage space, a dedicated owners' lobby, Studio at Fountains corporate office suites and meeting space on the first and second floors, along with Atrium at Fountains on the top three floors. The building will feature a dramatic,
glass-roofed atrium, curated with live plants, as a stunning space that blends modern design with abundant sunlight for an inspiring tropical ambiance. Scott says the locality eventually will have a hotel adjacent to it, too, making it convenient for relatives and friends to visit the new condo homeowners. As Murfreesboro’s first luxury, European-style condominium development, Atrium at Fountains' spacious condominiums start in the high-$600,000s. They will feature highend finishes in light-filled one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Each modern residence includes an open living and dining area that adjoins a sleek kitchen with an island, and a large primary suite with ensuite bath. Additionally, Scott says inquiring potential condo residents already are enthused about the proximity of the soonto-open Chinwag, a casual bistro blending global smoke and fire flavors by Chef Alex Belew and Shane Nasby at The Fountains at Gateway, 1440 Medical Center Parkway. An Atrium showroom is available for tours. Scott says the Atrium project's slated to be completed by spring 2028. AtriumAtFountains.com S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . New Bomb-Mane Luxury Extensions: Hand-Curated, Intentionally Installed At Bombshells Hair Studio In Murfreesboro
SECRET TO HAIR VOLUME, LENGTH ARTICLE BY JULIE BROWN PATTON | PHOTOGRAPHY BY TWILA ALLEN
"We don’t do subtle. We do unforgettable hair and now extensions. Style is a choice, make it yours," suggests Michelle Williamson, owner and master stylist of Bombshells Hair Studio in Murfreesboro. While this hair salon team handles haircuts, coiffures, luxury blowouts, color, intensive repair and hydration treatments, head spas with botanical formulas, hair consultations for special occasions and nonprofit services via A Wig's Story, they've added extensions with lifetime maintenance to their repertoire. "At the core of our salon is a commitment to lifting up others," assures Michelle,
selected based on the client’s hair type, lifestyle and desired result. Extensions add length, fullness and dimension, while toppers provide targeted coverage and volume for thinning areas, creating a seamless, natural-looking finish without compromising individual style.”
IN WHAT WAYS DO BOMB-MANE LUXURY EXTENSIONS BOOST PEOPLE’S INDIVIDUAL STYLE AND OVERALL CONFIDENCE? “Bomb-Mane Extensions
give clients the freedom to create the hair that feels most like them, whether that means dramatic length, fuller density, added dimension or a complete reinvention. When extensions are customized correctly, they do more than transform hair; they elevate personal style and restore confidence.”

Finding ways to put the community first is one of the main missions of the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation team; that style requires them to be flexible, stay communicative and plan for some fun in everything that they do. “Community” is a big part of what happens in parks and recreation daily such as maintaining the facilities like Sports*Com, Patterson Park Community Center and the St. Clair Senior Center to running the programs out at the Wilderness Station and through Cultural Arts and certainly to providing large community events. Creating authentic, family-style community events is something the city's parks and recreation staff enjoy doing, and a task they put a lot of emphasis on to ensure it’s done just right. Some of the big community events the staff coordinates include the New Year’s Day 5K, Special Olympics, Celebration Under the Stars, Greenway Art Festival, Barfield Bash and the Christmas Parade. According to Thomas Laird, P/R assistant director, the city’s Barfield Bash has become so much more than a Halloween event. "It’s a community tradition. Every year, hundreds of families enjoy a safe, affordable evening of fun. It’s incredible to CONTINUED >

see our staff, volunteers and local organizations come together to create amazing memories. That’s what community is all about.” The Barfield Bash has been happening for 25-plus years. The staff has seen it grow, change and develop into what it is today: a large carnival that spans over two days with games and prizes, costume contests, cake walks, music, food and a scary, haunted hayride, along with a not-so-haunted hayride. It’s an event that requires all-hands on deck from every area across the department. Each year a team meets together starting in June and works on how they can make the event even better for the community. Last year, the staff added more community partners and organized an “Avenue of Treats” where carnival guests were greeted by local community organizations that decorated their tents and handed out candy or treats to the children. One of the biggest events that happens in the community is the Murfreesboro Christmas Parade. Every year a theme is chosen and announced, a Grand Marshal is selected, and the registration is opened for hundreds of local organizations, churches and schools to come together to officially kick off the season as a community styled in one of the sweetest hometown traditions. The streets will be filled with people waiting to enjoy the beautiful floats, bands and dance teams traveling the parade route through Murfreesboro’s historic downtown square. The community also gets to partake in festivals such as the Greenway Art Festival, the Special Olympics that hosts more than 900 special athletes, and a New Year’s Day 5K that not only invites runners as a sanctioned timed event, but walkers, strollers and pets are included, too. Rachel Singer, P/R assistant director, sums it up by sharing, “Every event we plan, whether it's the Christmas parade, the Fourth of July celebration, or any of our community gatherings, starts with one question: 'What's best for our community?' Our goal is to create experiences that bring people together, celebrate our hometown and make lasting memories for families. We work hard to listen, collaborate and serve our community in the best way we can because these events are truly for the people who call this place home.” • Greenway Art Festival, Sept. 19 • Barfield Bash, Oct. 23-24 • Christmas Parade, Dec. 13 • New Year’s Day 5K, Jan. 1, 2027 MurfreesboroParks.com

WITH PANACHE Fall is the spa-related season everyone waits for, and appointments fill up every year, affirms Martha-Marie Edwards, Pure Glow Skin Refinery owner/esthetician in Murfreesboro at 308 Uptown Square. "That's because as the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to focus on repairing summer skin, supporting collagen production and creating healthy, glowing skin that lasts well beyond the holidays," she explains. As a medical, holistic skincare team, Martha-Marie reminds while aging is inevitable, healthy skin is intentional. "Skin longevity comes partially from ensuring your face benefits from the proper types of care. With 43 muscles in everyone's face, they become tight, weak and overworked over time, just like muscles in your body." She defines skin longevity as taking the proper, proactive steps to age gracefully. "It's not about turning back the clock. It's not just about the skin products used. It's also about the stress in someone's life, and their diet. It's about everything that creates wrinkles. It's also about supporting yourself through hormonal changes." Facial massages, laser treatments and techniques like buccal sculpting help stimulate face muscles, improve circulation, release built-up tension, encourage lymphatic drainage and support a naturally lifted, sculpted appearance, she explains. "Think of fall treatment sessions with us as a workout and recovery session for your face to keep it glowing as we start to head into the winter. Your skincare products treat the skin. Your facial muscles deserve attention, too," Martha-Marie adds. She says they educate their clients about gut health, microbiomes and controlling stress levels that lead to greater levels of happiness. "When you create an overhaul of your mindset, that's going to be better for anti-aging." 615.955.1777 | PureGlowRefinery.com

Serenity Smiles Dental Care professionals go beyond routine dental care by offering comprehensive preventive, restorative and cosmetic services to meet individual needs of patients throughout the Murfreesboro area. A bonus result from working with them is finding one's individual style of smile! "Our goal is to make quality dental care feel more comfortable, personal and accessible," says Kesha 'KL' Burns, DDS, Serenity's founder in Murfreesboro. “We want our patients to feel heard, cared for and confident about their smiles.” To maintain optimal oral health for life, Dr. Burns states this dental team provides a wide array of dental services. Murfreesboro City Lifestyle asked Dr. Burns how the staff also helps people achieve radiant smiles.
What additional services are offered at your practice? "Our variety of beneficial options: • Clear Aligner Therapy offers discreet orthodontic options. • Tooth-Colored Restorations/Amalgam Replacement so older silver amalgam fillings can be replaced, allowing more natural-looking results.
“Our goal at Serenity Smiles Dental Care is to provide stress-free dental experiences, along with comprehensive and personalized oral health care to provide healthy smiles.” 26
EXP E RT H E LP | WEL L NESS
• Crowns and Restorative Dentistry for teeth weakened by decay, fractures or other damage, to help rebuild strength, function and appearance. • Dentures and Removale Partial Dentures restore function, appearance and confidence. • Root Canal Procedures help preserve natural teeth affected by infection or significant pulpal damage. • Extractions for when a tooth cannot be predictably restored or must be removed for the patient’s overall oral health. • Custom Nightguards and Occlusal Guards protect teeth from effects of grinding and clenching. • Digital Dentistry, including digital X-rays and impressions, allows gather detailed information. • Dental Anxiety and Comfort Solutions to create a calmer dental experience, including aromatherapy, noise-canceling headphones, weighted blankets, stress balls and sedation options such as nitrous oxide and oral sedation."
Why choose Serenity's supplementary services? “Having multiple services available in one practice allows us to look at the patient as a whole rather than focusing on one tooth or one procedure. We develop treatment plans based on oral health, priorities, comfort level and goals. The practice emphasizes personalized treatment planning and patient education so patients understand their options and can participate in decisions regarding their dental care."
What's your approach to these extra services? “Our philosophy is centered around providing compassionate, judgment-free dentistry. That approach combines modern dental technology with individualized care and an emphasis on creating a welcoming environment to help patients feel healthy and confident when they smile.”
What else can help people love their smiles? "Our cosmetic dentistry options, such as Zoom Teeth Whitening, can enhance smiles' aesthetics. We begin with a thorough consultation to evaluate a patient's dental health, discuss goals and recommend the best treatment option. During the in-office Zoom Teeth procedure, a special whitening gel is applied to teeth and activated with a light to accelerate the process. The result is a noticeably whiter smile in just one session. Plus, we have a take-home kit with custom-fitted trays and professional-grade whitening gel for safe, gradual whitening." The practice delivers general and restorative dental services to patients in Murfreesboro, Northwoods, Blackman and Siegel. 615.439.1949 | SerenitySmilesDentalCare.com S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . I love family-style meals such as a crab boil this time of year. The food is the star of the show and a vital part of the tablescape – decor optional! Additional elements included here are a large paper-sail, light blue taper candles, a few large flowers, and heavy white rope as nautical accents. You can also use other elements such as large seashells, coral or seaglass. Use whatever you have on hand that nods to the sea.
