What many of us see when looking at a room are four walls, a floor and a ceiling, but when an interior designer looks at the same room, he or she sees a canvas on which to create a beautiful space.
“An interior designer really guides your vision and allows you to see the full potential of what a room can be and what it can look like,” says Christina Brennan, a certified interior designer and owner of The Style Studio NY, which opened in 2018. “True luxury is a home that's inspirational, comfortable and complete.” She feels the design should take into account the taste, interests and personalities of clients first, and then combine that with the architecture of their home.

The hard thing with design, she explains, is only being able to see the image or room on a computer at first. “Even if you're looking at a 3D rendering, it looks totally different when it's to scale and in person. Plus, you don’t get that whole tactile part.”

The favorite part of her job is showing her clients the final reveal. “I would say install day is probably the most gratifying because when the client sees the room completely done, it's such a wow factor and they're so happy,” says Christina. “Up until then, they may have been second-guess ing themselves, but we guided them in making the right decisions, which is the most satisfactory part of it. When they see how great it all turned out, it’s really rewarding.”

The Style Studio NY has done designs for many local homes including those in Chatham, Short Hills, and Morristown, and works with all different budgets. “I focus on a timeless design and use the best quality possible,” says Christina. “I believe in designing a room once and doing it right.”

She and her team find the most impactful part of any design is the artwork. “Many people have a really hard time with scale. We just did a job in Madison and when we installed the art piece, which was gorgeous and just huge, the clients emailed us saying how happy they were with how the art piece just makes the room so excellent.”

Some of the items are brand new and still have tags on them. Since the store is so busy and the inventory changes so quickly, if something isn’t there one day, it may be there the next, so they often tell people to come back soon. Shopping at The Bargain Box benefits the buyer, of course, but it goes much deeper than that. The store operates as part of the Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC), a volunteer service organization founded in 1893 that raises money to provide many of the extras and/or neces sities that make visiting or staying at the non-profit hospital much more pleasant and comfortable.
When you drive past The Bargain Box on Mount Kemble Avenue in Morristown, you’ll sometimes notice a line of people waiting to get into the charming and welcoming store. There’s a good reason for that and why the thrift shop is described as a boutique with a “Touch of Class.”
“The net proceeds from The Bargain Box go through the Women's Association directly to the hospital for whatever projects or programs they're looking to fund,” says Kathy Christie, president of WAMMC. The proceeds from the hospi tal’s gift shops, which they also run, and a percentage of pro ceeds from the onsite Starbucks and the Apple Day Café, all go through the Association to the hospital as well. “They give us a list of wants and needs and we try to provide as much as we can,” she says. “We also have an art exhibit in the main hallway that not only makes the place look better, but also allows artists to show their work. We then get 20% of the sales of that artwork.” The association gives out nursing schol arships too, which also directly benefits patients.
“It's always about the patient experience and the patient outcome,” says Maggie. “And I really think Morristown Medical Center excels in that. I'm very proud to support its work.”

“I can't even begin to tell you the variety of goods we have here - from clothing and jewelry to housewares and artwork,” says long-time manager, Maggie Moffitt. “There's something forTheeverybody.”storehas many repeat customers. “It's just a really happy place,” she says. “People come in and make friends here. They interact with one another, with our volunteers and our staff.
Some customers come in seeking vintage and antique pieces, hard-to-find items or designer brands. At times, mer chandise from Tori Burch and Kate Spade, and even Versace, Chanel and Gucci can be found. “We’ve had Christian Louboutin and Prada shoes,” says Maggie. “The quality of what we offer is really quite good.”

WAMMC has raised over $30 million since 1985, and the Bargain Box alone has contributed $7 million to the Women's Association over the last 22 years. That’s a lot of merchandise!
The Bargain Box also holds multiple events throughout the year. “We have a fur sale every year, and people will come year after year and buy multiple fur coats,” says Gail Decker, a long-time volunteer and WAMMC Board Member.

His goal was not to go up against athleisure, which was doing amazingly well. “I love their products. They look great and they last, but they're not meant to work out in; they're meant to look good in. So, I decided to create the next great true athletic power brand.”
When Chris Riccobono had trouble finding a shorter shirt that looked good untucked, he created one. He then brought in his friend and now business partner, Aaron Sanandres, to help him launch UNTUCKit in 2011. Today, they have 90 stores, including a couple in Canada and one in London.

He teamed up with Wayne Gretzky, Derek Jeter, and Missy Copeland and founded Greatness Wins, a premium performance apparel brand. “I already had a great rela tionship with Wayne Gretzky as a brand ambassador for UNTUCKit. When I brought in Derek, he wanted a woman athlete on our team, and he wanted Misty Copeland, who has an amazing story herself. She was the first principal black ballet dancer [with the American Ballet Theatre].”

“We're also trying to make it much more curated,” says Chris. “We don’t have 95 joggers that you have to scroll through to try to figure out which one is right for you.”
Launched in July, Greatness Wins is already getting rave reviews. As with UNTUCKit, Chris says it’s all about qual ity. I also need to be working around the clock, especially since I have four kids under 4 1/2.” He and his wife, Amy, and kids, Charles, James, Evelyn and Luke, live in Madison.

He does take some downtime here and there. “I'm a huge wine collector. Wine and travel are my favorite things.”
“We opened our first store in 2015 in Soho [NYC], and in 2019, UNTUCKit was the fastest growing men's apparel brand out there,” says Chris.
Chris, who grew up in Franklin Lakes, says being an entrepreneur is in his blood. “After UNTUCKit, I was thinking where in fashion was there another problem I could solve, and started by ordering some athletic gear. The quality was terrible - they didn't wash well and from a size perspective, they were all over the map.”

Another way she hopes to bolster others is through her new book, Secretary to CEO, which is coming out early next year and outlines her career path while giving tips, tricks and important advice on becoming a successful business owner.

Michelle originally planning to go into law school, but that changed when she sold her first house. “I felt euphoric and I knew that it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” she says. “I enjoy the process of helping people, of marketing their homes, and being able to get their homes sold for more money than they thought they would ever get.” Her marketing style is one her clients appreciate.
Surrounding herself, as she does, with people who will uplift and support her is a key ingredient to her success. Her brokerage, Signature Realty NJ, which now has over 450 agents, recently made the INC. 5000 list as one of the fastest growing companies in America! Michelle knows she wouldn’t have reached this milestone alone. In addition to her team, she also gives thanks to her husband, Jonathan Steingraber, who runs the business alongside her.
The couple also strongly believes in giving back.
