Back to school, crisper weather, and last trips to the lake. September is always a beautiful, yet bittersweet month. It has been really nice to see everyone out and about, enjoying summer as we have in years past. Personally, I love fall the most becuase of its bright, blue skies and fabulous colors. September marks our Style issue, and this month we had a variety of styl ish businesses to check out. Our team spoke with Colleen Moselle and Tom Clemens at Fueled Collective, one of the stronger co-working spaces which survived the pandemic, and is now offering a third choice to the “work from home” or “return to the office” options. Their downtown location, located in the old Minneapolis Grain Exchange building is a romantic time-warp with its frozen trading board and window seat office perches, showcasing style second to none.

WHAT KINDS OF TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING FOR FALL 2022 (FALL COLORS, STYLE, ETC)
YOUR TEAM HAS A LOT OF COMBINED RETAIL EXPERIENCE. DOES THAT HELP WITH PERSONALIZED STYLING IN THE STORE? We take retail very seriously but not our selves. We prioritize client service and want people to have fun and hope to help them find what they are looking for or didn’t know they needed! Clients can count on us to be honest, authentic and to know that we just want people to look and feel their best in whatever they buy for themselves or others.
Fall and Holiday are all still about COLOR. It started in Spring and just keeps going. Barbie pinks, deep reds, vibrant purples and spice-in spired colors like mustard, cumin and cinnamon all flow right into holiday, done in traditional holiday fabrics like rich silks, velvets and sequins. We can’t wait for these collections to hit the floor. Menswear for Women: Blazers, Outerwear, Fair Isle and knit sweaters, are still going strong paired with a button down and chunky loafer. Pattern is getting even bolder for Men with great color plaids in shirts and jackets, corduroy suit separates and more. Dressing up is going to be a big focus for both Men and Women, brands are definitely ready to get people out of their ath letic gear and leggings and back into some “look good, feel good” fashion this holiday!
of this Northern Cali Brand. Like Sol Angeles, we’ve been rocking Scotch and Soda for some time and were thrilled to start carrying this modern, cool brand from Amsterdam, same with Farm Rio, a vibrant, colorful, brand from Brazil. These brands make getting dressed so much fun every season! And just like apparel, we believe accessories should be effortless, cool statement pieces without being overdone. We carry a gorgeous jewelry line, Freida Rothman, a second genera tion jeweler from NYC, Secrid wallets and card carriers from the Netherlands, handcrafted bracelets from nautical-inspired brand Pig & Hen, irreverent Swarovski crystal costume jew elry, made in Italy and seen often in Vogue, by Lisa C Bijoux, and most recently, Nixon. Known for their watches, we carry them for Men and Women but also carry their accessories like backpacks, hats and more. Nixon is a brand col lected by Creatives and are known for their part nerships with athletes, musicians and designers. If you’ve seen us once in the last decade, we’ve been sporting a Nixon watch.
WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BEST SELLING GIFTS THIS YEAR? We’ve got great gift ideas for Husbands to Hostess Gifts, Groomsmen, Grandkids, Co-workers and Besties. We love helping people find that special gift from jewelry to drink ware. We’ve got something for everyone. We love sharing local designers like Camille Hempel’s Love Medals, mil itary-inspired metals for anyone you want to show love and support to or Melissa C Mark’s Screw U Necklaces, Earrings and Buttons for showing you or a friend’s sassier side! Vintage Charm and Modern Luxury Relaying a Home’s Story and Character MUST SEE | HOME + DESIGN28
Although it was built in 1929, the house is mod ern and bright due to the many renovations that have recently taken place. “The current home owners definitely put their stamp on this little charmer,” she says. “They worked with Chisel Architecture and expanded and really perfected what they felt is the heart of the home.” Since Tudor homes tend to be a bit on the darker side, another major goal of the renovation was to bring in a lot more natural light.
The remodel not only beautified and upgraded the home, but built a connection between the mudroom, the kitchen and the din ing space for an open concept with a wonderful flow and increased functionality. It also allowed easy access to the English style courtyard and garden, which make up the back yard. “It really does make you feel like you’ve been transported,” says Sue. Of all the great features, she says her absolute favorite is the kitchen island. “It’s made out of burled walnut and looks like a rare piece of furniture - it just makes such a statement!” Her other favorites include the expansiveness and warmth of the home.

Sue Hewitson, a Realtor® with Fazendin Realtors, has been selling homes for over 20 years, and every once in a while, a particular home will capture her heart. It happened again recently when listing a classic English Tudor at 2757 Dean Parkway. With its dramatic roofline, slate-tile roof and 5,100 square feet of finished living space, the house is an impressive sight.
“The living room is enormous, but it’s per fectly anchored with this classic fireplace and the decor is spot on.” So, even though the space is huge, it still has a cozy feel. She also loves the fun wallpaper and other great accents found throughout the home that make the design come together nicely.

“YOU CAN SIT ON THE BLUESTONE FRONT PATIO AND ENJOY THE VIBRANCY OF THE LOCATION WHILE IN YOUR OWN PRIVATE HAVEN.”
“The other piece Fazendin does really well is something I really gravitate towards, which is taking the time to make connections with buyers as well as agents who might lead us to the best possible buy ers at the end of the day. So, being involved and hands on and always engaged is really the key.” Of course, this is all combined with incredible photography to showcase the homes in all their glory.
The Dean Parkway neighborhood is also idyllic. “You’re a stone’s throw from the Isles, but this specific location is also really unique because the house itself is perched on a hill,” she says. “You can sit on the bluestone front patio and enjoy the vibrancy of the location while in your own private haven. It feels like you’re tucked away in this little world of your own and yet you’re in a bustling urban location.”
To see these homes and more, go to FazHomes.com .
A rather unique feature of the home is its two main suite options. “One is located very traditionally on the second floor of the home and it’s everything you would want it to be,” says Sue. “It’s oversized and has beautiful features like walk-in closets and a stunning spa-like bathroom. The second suite option is located in the third story. This large room has its own bathroom with a steam shower and quite possibly the largest walk-in closet I’ve ever seen! It’s very impressive.”
Fazendin Realtors has years of experi ence selling vintage homes such as this one. “When you market a vintage home that has this kind of charm and character, the biggest thing we strive to accomplish is customizing the marketing and telling the home’s story correctly,” says Sue. “As an agent, it’s about doing your homework so you can give buyers all the information they need and want.
Knowing the area as well as the house is important, and since Sue lives close by, she can inform families about parks and schools and singles and couples about restaurants and nightlife. “It’s not just about the home; it’s the entire experi ence,” she Anothersays.great property listed with Fazendin is in Cedar-Isles-Dean. “This one, at 2713 France Avenue, is spectacular in its own way,” says Sue. “It’s just steps from Cedar Lake, so again, it’s giving buyers that true city lakes experience plus the accessibility of everything that’s there.”

Florian, who started his career with the hotel as a busboy in London many years ago, is familiar with all aspects of the brand. Having worked at Four Seasons Hotels across the globe, both Four Seasons Hotel London and Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara to name a few, provided him with insight into many different cultures. Today, his team reflects that diversity.
Mara, its main restaurant on the first floor, serves Mediterranean cuisine prepared by award-winning Chef Gavin Kaysen, a Minneapolis native. “Here, we’ve created another place for people to really enjoy each other’s company and amazing food in an envi ronment that’s so inviting.”
With a team of 300 employees led by General Manager Florian Riedel, there’s never a shortage of attention to detail.
The prooftop pool is a destination in itself. Four Seasons is the only Minneapolis hotel with both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The out side pool is not only heated, but has a snow melt
“With Riva, picture the Italian Riviera on the banks of the Mississippi,” says Florian. “It’s an Italian restau rant that embodies everything you can imagine about a Mediterranean lifestyle. The design and the archi tecture, the fabrics and the colors, the food and the music - it all transforms you to a different world for a little while. And the sunsets up there - just gorgeous.”
“We’re really happy that we’ve been able to find incredible talent here in the Twin Cities and we believe that the diversity of our team is our strength,” he says. “Hospitality is more than a job - it’s a fulfill ing, rewarding career.”
With floor to ceiling windows offering magnificent views of the Twin Cities and the nearby Mississippi River, guests and visitors will soak up its luxurious atmosphere as soon as they walk inside. As with all Four Seasons Hotels, a highly enjoyable and personal customer experience is always the focus.
Florian and his team work hard every day to make the hotel a destination for out-of-town travelers as well as for locals. “It’s designed to bring people together,” he says. “There are incredible opportu nities for our community and guests to go to have a drink at the bar, go to the spa and eat in our restau rants.” There’s also an office component and residen tial living space.

Rising 36 stories over the North Loop neighborhood, the new Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis is much more than a place to lodge for a few nights. It’s a place to meet with friends and business associates, eat chef-prepared meals, work out in its 24-hour fitness center and be pampered at its spa.
There are three restaurants on site – the 4th floor outdoor Riva Terrace and the Mara Restaurant & Bar.
“We are incredibly excited to have an opportunity to rejuvenate businesses downtown and really bring people back to see how wonderful it is.”
With the hotel just a couple of blocks away from the Mississippi River, he also says it creates a vacation destination right here in downtown Minneapolis.

Afterwards, he shared this with his manager and who then included it in that customer’s profile.
The secret to Four Seasons success, says Florian, is pretty simple. “It’s following the golden rule - we treat others the way we want to be treated. When you really live by it and you have 300 employees who share this belief, it creates a phenomenal environment.” It’s also an environment that is inclusive and respectful and goes out of its way to anticipate guests’ needs. “A few days ago, a Kaysen's

Only a few years ago, shared working spaces were relegated to start-ups, free lancers and entrepreneurs. Now, as remote working becomes more and more the norm for so many, escape from the isolation of home offices and the impracticality of café-surfing is more important than ever.
Along with programming, Fueled Collective makes a concerted effort toward building community. A key part of that community building is, “integrating social events, happy hours, and recogniz ing that there is more to a workspace and a work environment than just work.” says Colleen. From Tom’s experience of both working as a member and later as Director of Marketing, “What’s also remarkable to me as a community member is the way people from separate companies and communities come together to support

Colleen cites ‘Independence’ and ‘Work/Life Balance’ as recent themes. “We try to mix it between individual or company profes sional-type development events and fun things that support and bring awareness around it.” Those events can range from improving LinkedIn profiles to bringing in cellists to play. A perennial programming winner, however, is food: “If it’s food, peo ple always love that,” says Colleen.

home, so the finishes are more like leather and velvet and warm wallpaper than glass walls.” says Colleen.
That’s where Fueled Collective comes in. Fueled Collective was created in the Twin Cities in 2009 as a shared workspace with a focus on flexibility and community. I sat down with President and COO Colleen Moselle and Director of Marketing Tom Clemens to get a better idea of just what Fueled Collective is and does. Fueled Collective is an event venue, meeting space, and shared workspace that caters to workers from solo entrepreneurs and freelancers all the way to rental offices for entire businesses. “We have coworking space where all levels of membership can work together, and then we have dedicated desk and open-air offices, and private offices,” says Colleen. Fueled Collective has two locations, one in downtown Minneapolis and the other in Northeast Minneapolis. Each location is available to all members and offers similar shared working spaces from open floors and dedicated desks to team access and pri vate offices. But unlike the glass walls and harsh lights of other shared workspaces, Fueled Collective strives for “a warm envi ronment that feels like an extension of BUSINESSES TODAY CAN CONSIDER MULTIPLE OPTIONS
What sets Fueled Collective apart from many other shared working spacers, however, is their focus on culture. Each month Fueled Collective selects a theme and provides programming based on that theme. “We try to pick things that coin cide with the month as well that are topics that are interesting to people.”
The renewed wave of remote working leaves Tom with a big question: “One of the things that I wonder often is for people who are working from home predominantly, how do they assess they are thriving in that environment. And do they understand what options they have outside of their current environment?” Many find working remotely a respite from commuting or the inflexibility of an office, but the isolation and work/life balance can quickly become serious issues. Fueled Collective offers a third path to, “supplement whatever it is that’s missing from their work.” says Tom. So, whether that’s an escape from your home office or even simply a community to work in, Fueled Collective is here to offer balance.
Despite the fact that this trend has been growing for decades, Covid forced companies to change their model overnight. Since 2020, more and more companies became attracted to the flexibility and lower cost per square foot of shared working spaces: “It is a really interesting mix of small to mid-sized businesses that utilize this space to supplement what they cannot deliver in a hybrid work environment,” says Tom. Additionally, the full service of Fueled Collective offices is a draw: “You don’t have to worry about servicing the office because we clean it, we provide coffee, that kind of thing,” says Colleen.

Fueled Collective works to fill that gap.
During the pandemic, Fueled Collective, “rode the waves with everyone else, but we didn’t really pivot our model.” says Colleen. The major change that occurred during that time was the increased normalization of remote working. The base clientele that primarily worked remotely has shifted from solely start-up employees and freelancers. “It is just not like that anymore,” says Tom.
