LIFESTYLE LETTER
Happy New Year, Midlothian! I truly hope that your holiday season was filled with warmth, love, and meaningful connections with your loved ones. From my own experiences traveling to different cultures, I have come to appreciate my friends and family more than ever before. Entering a new year can be overwhelming, and there's a lot of pressure to make resolutions and implement changes in our lives. However, I want to remind you that your health and wellness should be your top priority. It's important to be patient with yourself and not expect immediate results. By taking things one step at a time and enjoying the process, you can create sustainable changes and even find joy in the journey. Remember to prioritize your well-being and be kind to yourself as you work towards your goals. Welcome to our 2024 Health and Wellness issue! We have tips, tricks, and encouragement for health, weight management, eye and skin care, fitness, and home safety. Last year, I made some changes to my self-care routine and am now seeing the results. Remember to stay accountable to those who will keep you on track and trust that the best is yet to come. We are here to support you along the way! Cheers to your health and happiness!

Quality Healthcare Services at Your Doorstep DISCOVER A CONVENIENT WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH INNOVITAMIN SOLUTIONS As a new year begins, many people are excited to start fresh and become healthier versions of themselves. It’s a daunting task, often requiring assistance from a professional. Who better to help than April Morris of InnoVitamin Solutions? To help you achieve your health goals this year, April recently launched a new concierge weight loss program for qualified candidates. As a certified family nurse practitioner with over 17 years of experience, April is here to guide you on your journey. Midlothian Lifestyle caught up with April to learn more about her new program and here’s what she had to say: JOANNA: CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR CONCIERGE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM? APRIL: Our concierge weight loss program is designed to make your weight loss journey as comfortable as possible. I will visit your home or office for an in-depth consultation to determine your needs and baseline measurements. We'll discuss your personal goals together to provide the level of support you need. The program includes injectable medications, semaglutide or tirzepatide, which I provide training on how to administer. JOANNA: WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM? APRIL: To be eligible for this program, you should be an adult over the age of 18, have a BMI (body mass index) greater than 25, and be motivated to make lifestyle changes involving diet and exercise. Those who have a history of gastroparesis, severe gastrointestinal conditions, type 1 diabetes, pancreatitis, or a family history of medullary thyroid cancer should avoid this program.

JOANNA: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THIS NEW PROGRAM? APRIL: Successful weight loss! These new injectable weight loss medications are complete game changers. They've been studied extensively in clinical trials and have been given the stamp of approval from the FDA. The Latin Ballet of Virginia proudly presents its 23rd Anniversary production of THE LEGEND OF THE POINSETTIA. Every year since 2001, the Latin Ballet has captivated audiences of all ages and backgrounds with this vibrant annual performance full of light, spirit and joy. The Legend of the Poinsettia is a story based on the Mexican legend of a pure hearted young girl, Maria, who discovers the true spirit of giving. Unable to offer a gift of material value, she picks a handful of weeds that magically transform into brilliant crimson flowers and thus the custom of giving poinsettias during the holidays is born. The Latin Ballet’s production of The Legend of the Poinsettia elegantly portrays the Hispanic traditions of the season. Dances and music demonstrate cultural celebrations with aguinaldos, gaitas, rumbas and plenas. The spiritual reverence of the season is combined with the joy and laughter of the traditional festivities of dance and song.

Virginia native Bradley Gamlin started his first business at the age of 15, which was a production company that organized small concerts for teenage garage bands. Although the music could have been better, he enjoyed the work and even made a slight profit from his bookings. Bradley's father gave him valuable advice: to become excellent at his job and enjoy it. Even if the job is fun, it can still feel like work, so genuine job satisfaction comes from within. The more effort you put into something, the more you appreciate it. It's about finding purpose and fulfillment in the work you do. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University and working as a general contractor for 13 years, he started his own business, Advanced Home Inspection. Bradley and his team offer various services, including pre-offer walkthroughs, traditional home inspections, visual lead assessments, sewer line scoping, drone roof inspections, thermography, new construction inspections, and feeble attempts at humor
(free of charge)! “Your home is your biggest investment,” Bradley says. “We try to make sure it is a solid one.” Dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for their clients, Advanced Home Inspection also offers radon, air quality, lead, and mold testing. Bradley and his team bring over 100 years of combined experience to home inspections while maintaining a warm, light-hearted approach. They take pride in offering discounts to first responders and teachers and strive to secure a safe and healthy living environment for all clients. Customer Chauncey P. says, "Advanced Home Inspection was professional and thorough, took the time to explain anything I didn't understand, and overall, just really nice people. I left with a full report and a clear sense of what to do next. Apart from these surgical procedures, The VEI Aesthetic Center offers Sciton laser treatments. Sciton HALO is a resurfacing laser treatment that effectively improves wrinkles, skin texture, acne scars, and discoloration while stimulating collagen production. att and Megin Sharp founded KidStrong with the goal of helping their daughter, Ella, become a confident and independent individual. They recognized the strong connection between physical activity and social intelligence in children and wanted to create a program that would allow Ella and other children to interact with each other through fun activities. To achieve this, they brought together a team of experts in pediatric occupational therapy, child development, sports physiology, and physical education and developed a program based on the latest scientific research on child development. Now, KidStrong is open in the West End of Richmond, ready to empower and inspire the community’s youth.
Owned and operated by Rich and Amy Young, KidStrong helps children develop physically and mentally through 45-minute classes. The curriculum focuses on four key areas: physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. During each class, children learn essential physical fitness, character development, and brain training skills. They also learn teamwork, leadership, and confidence-building skills through socialization and public speaking. The program emphasizes the importance of parental involvement, offering science-based coaching combined with tips and resources for the entire family’s success. KidStrong provides a comprehensive child development program that sets children up for success in the present and the future. There are two membership options available at KidStrong, allowing parents
to choose between a f lexible monthto-month plan or a 6-month plan. Both options include one weekly class and children receive a KidStrong jersey, water bottle, wristband, and a rank up and affirmation poster upon registration. To add more excitement to the Richmond community, KidStrong offers one-of-a-kind birthday party packages, including a 90-minute class led by personal coaches and a multi-purpose room for cake and snacks. To provide even more opportunities for children to stay active, have fun, and make unforgettable memories, KidStrong plans to offer summer and holiday camps for Richmond’s youth. KidStrong is located at 1312 Gaskins Road in Henrico. For more information about memberships and classes, visit westend@ kidstrong.com.
