DRIVER’S NOTEBOOK
It' s Electr i c A NEW ERA OF ELECTRIC IS HERE. MEET THE AUDI E-TRON
IT'S THE 21ST CENTURY, YET WE'RE STILL USING ENGINE TECHNOLOGY FROM A CENTURY AGO. I won't lie, I am a lover of a good exhaust note from an automobile; however times are changing, and the electric car industry is making a name for itself in this modern era. With companies such as Tesla leading the board, many have asked, who will bring competition to the table? That question has been answered by a manufacturer known for its fantastic handling abilities in snow. The word quattro may ring a bell—and with that being said—Audi has entered the electric car game with the all-new Audi e-tron. 16
Midlothian Lifestyle | July 2019
As with reviewing any new car, I am always skeptical to a degree as they tend to butter a consumer's biscuits more than what the vehicle is capable of. However, Audi has yet to disappoint, and once again they have impressed me with their 100% electric SUV. The e-tron is not only state of the art with its electric-only basis, but the features are something to talk about as well. We're talking about an electric SUV that can tow over 4,000 lbs and not deplete its batteries. I would have never thought that day would come. That is just the beginning. One would think the range for an SUV would be minimal versus a car. However, the e-tron excels in the range game. With over a 160-mile range on a fully charged battery, and wait for it …thirty minute charge time. Yes, you heard me right, thirty minutes with the Audi 150kw public speed charge system. This is a real game-changer in the electric car industry—all thanks to Audi. The all-new e-tron is a cool yet practical electric SUV. Something I thought I would never say. It's luxurious and comes with Audi’s signature quattro, all-wheel drive. It is an SUV that can appease a family or the businessperson that wants to be more eco-friendly on their commute to work. The e-tron is my first choice for an electric SUV. In the game of chess, it's your move

ADULT- AND KID-FRIENDLY NATURAL BUG REPELLENTS FROM A BEAUTIFUL MESS
A D U LT (AGE 15 AND OVER) WHAT YOU NEED: + 10 drops lemon essential oil + 10 drops lemongrass essential oil + 8 drops lavender essential oil + 8 drops eucalyptus essential oil + 1 ½ ounces distilled water (minus 1 teaspoon to make room for the essential oils in the bottle) + ½ ounce 95% proof grain alcohol*
WHAT YOU DO: In a 2-ounce spray bottle, add the grain alcohol (or Solubol) and drop in essential oils. Swirl to combine. Place the cap back on the bottle. Allow the oils to disperse in the alcohol for about 1 hour, then add distilled water, swirling again to combine. *The grain alcohol is used as a preservative as well as a carrier for the oils, but you can also use a product like this instead of grain alcohol at a 1:4 ratio (1 drop essential oil to 4 drops Solubol) if you’d rather and then just fill the rest with water to fill the 2-ounce spray bottle.

While there can be concern about citrus oils on the skin when exposed to sunlight, lemongrass isn’t a photosensitive oil, and if lemon essential oil is steam-distilled rather than cold-pressed (Oui Fresh essential oils are cold-pressed) it can be used on the skin. So just make sure to note which one your lemon oil is and only spray on clothes if you don’t have a skin-safe lemon oil (which is an application method a lot of people prefer anyway if they are more sensitive to oils).
