Colorado Springs has often lived in the shadow of Denver, despite being at a higher elevation and nestled in the Rocky Mountains. However, this lesser-known city is a hidden gem for tourists seeking to experience Colorado's renowned autumn foliage, particularly starting in September. With its blend of natural beauty, refined accommodations, delectable dining, and rich history, Colorado Springs is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise and an ideal destination to enjoy nature and the spirit of the West.

DAY ONE: SETTLE IN AND START EXPLORING

On the first day, visitors can check into The Broadmoor Resort, an iconic establishment that has been providing luxurious experiences to guests, including their furry companions, for over a century. The property is an excellent base for embarking on adventures and is an attraction in itself. With its impressive offering of restaurants, cafes, and lounges, two legendary golf courses, a world-renowned spa, 20 unique retail outlets, and a wide range of programs catering to guests of all ages and interests, The Broadmoor promises an unforgettable stay.

DAY TWO: DELVE INTO ICONIC LANDMARKS

Day two begins with an early start to reach the summit of Pikes Peak, a majestic peak that inspired the iconic poem and song "America the Beautiful." Fortunately, visitors won't have to tackle the summit on foot. Instead, they can opt for the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, providing a comfortable and scenic journey to admire the splendor of fall colors while potentially spotting wildlife along the way. At the summit, take advantage of the unique pleasure of indulging in delicious donuts at the Summit Visitor Center, the only donuts in the world made above 14,000 feet. For adventurous souls, combining the Cog Railway experience with a thrilling bike ride or a hike down the mountain is an option worth considering.
