“Your own experience begins with inspiration to go beyond previous limits and embrace your own spirit. Then feel the freedom of discovering your authentic style – allowing your true self to shine everywhere you are and anywhere you go. No matter the occasion, you’ll find in one place the design, the fit, the texture, and the finishing details of timeless pieces that will give you joy for many years. I’m honored to share my passion with you by offering authentic leather, for any season, made to perfection with the highest quality.
This leather project has been in the making for many years and was inspired by precious memories. As a young girl. I remember standing still as the dressmaker completed the finishing details of the leather. My senses were enticed by the aroma and the feel of its touch – and I was caught up in the moment. Take this opportunity to embrace your own spirit… your authentic style.”
Authentically yours, Val

Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette is consis tently named one of the best places for fresh seafood in the Memorial area. The Instagrammable restaurant is known for its decadent Hampton’s style brunch with dishes like Red Velvet Waffle & Fried Chicken Strips, Crabcado Toast and Buttermilk Lobster Bites. The dinner menu doesn’t disappoint with delicious offerings, including Black Truffle Hamachi, Liberty Lobster Roll and Australian Wagyu Strip Diane.
Chef Emily Trusler has been with Liberty Kitchen for two years and in the industry for over a decade, working in notable Houston restaurants, including BB Lemon, Emmaline, Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar and 51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails. Trusler takes advantage of the restaurant’s wood-burn ing grill to make grilled oysters – one of her
seasonal favorites. During the holidays, she cooks with her sister for their extended fam ily and begins all kitchen prep with one of her “famous” egg nogs, but steak and wine pairing is more her style when she’s at the restaurant.
“With the cooler weather, I enjoy my favor ite glass of red wine, a Cotes du Rhone, along with Liberty Kitchen’s infamous Australian Wagyu Strip,” says Trusler. “The Diane top ping makes the perfect third wheel to this steak and wine pairing.”
Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette offers holi day meals, gift cards and catering for private events. Guests can take advantage of indoor and outdoor seating with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant’s loft offers rooftop views of Memorial and is per fect for holiday gatherings of up to 35 people. libertykitchenoysterette.com 963 Bunker Hill Rd., Houston, TX 77024, 713-463-3745, libertykitchenoysterette.com

Houston food scene veteran Chef Jaime Salazar has worked in the restaurant industry for over 16 years, most recently as Executive Chef at the River Oaks French hot spot Brasserie 19. When Houston favorite Spaghetti Warehouse flooded in Hurricane Harvey, Salazar was tapped to bring his innovative cooking style to the revamped brand. Three years later, Warehouse 72, located in the Marq-E Entertainment Center, is known for its robust menu of ele vated classics. Large-scale art and murals by artist Sebastien “Mr. D 1987,” along with plush banquets and live music, are the hallmarks of the buzzy eatery. Fans of Spaghetti Warehouse will find a whole new vibe at the restaurant.
During the holiday season, Salazar relies on classic techniques and flavors to craft meals both in and out of the restaurant, saying, “I like incorporating festive holiday ingredients, so, at Warehouse 72, we use caviar, chestnuts, winter truffles and fresh seasonal produce as much as possible.”
When the chef isn’t working, Salazar, who grew up making pork tamales with his mom and brothers during the holidays, has a few favorites of his own. He prepares a bone-in prime rib for Christmas, pairing it with a large assortment of sides, “can’t forget the mac and cheese,” he notes. And the perfect way to end any holiday meal, according to Salazar, is with an old-fashioned and a big piece of pecan pie. warehouse72.com

Frito pie, fried green tomatoes, chick en-fried ribeye steak and King Ranch casse role - all Texas comfort food with southern influences and what State Fare Kitchen & Bar does best. With three locations in Houston (Memorial, Sugar Land and the Woodlands), the restaurant’s lunch, dinner, cocktail and brunch menus all have one thing in common – they are generous. Guests have many options to choose from and while the restaurant has fun with its menus, the flavor profiles are elevated.
Justin Yoakum, director of operations and culinary director, has worked with the restau rant in different capacities for four years and in the restaurant industry for nearly two decades. Yoakum waits for the holiday season
to enjoy State Fare’s Smoked Ribeye, and when cooking at home, he enjoys making culinary gifts for friends and family. “Each year, I make a batch of Coconut Irish Cream, a Thai version of Irish Cream, that I give out for the holiday season. It is delicious - everyone should try it.”
Growing up, Yoakum enjoyed classics like green bean casserole and prime rib. Still, these days he loves pairing State Fare’s Brunch Board (secret menu item) with a carafe of Pomegranate Mimosa, saying, “It’s the perfect holiday breakfast pairing.”

Like several celebrities before her, notably George Clooney, the Rock, and Kendall Jenner, Texas girl Eva Longoria jumped on the tequila bandwagon in 2021. She is co-owner of Casa Del Sol, a luxurious, award-winning ultra-premium tequila. Founded by Longoria and two tequila scions, Alejandra Pelayo, “protégé and goddaughter” of Patron creator Francisco Alcaraz and Mariana Padilla, daughter of Jalisco’s own Paco Padilla.
Casa Del Sol tequila is uniquely aged in heritage Cognac Barrels made of French Limousin Oak. The tequila is made in partnership with the Martell family using only the finest 100% Blue Weber agave. With a vision to redefine the tequila category, Casa Del Sol taste fully brings together aesthetic design, sustainability, social change and quality. The 100% Mexican-owned distillery proudly has been awarded the ESR distinction for sustainability and social responsi bility. Each bottle of Casa Del Sol is inspired by the golden hour of the setting sun and the legend of Mayahuel, the Goddess of Tequila. Although Longoria prefers to sip her tequila neat, this recipe for a classic espresso martini is sure to spice up any holiday celebration.
Combine Casa Del Sol Reposado Tequila, chilled espresso, a pinch of salt and Demerara syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail coupe. Garnish with three coffee beans
When Longoria created Casa Del Sol, she wanted to think out of the box about tequila recipes and has been experimenting with different flavors and cocktails not typically seen with tequila. In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she talked about her love of blueberry margaritas this past summer and has now moved on to winter recipes. “If you put tequila in your Mexican hot choc olate, you will thank me. With that Mexican Abuelita chocolate or the Mayordomo bars that you melt in water, I like to call it a Mexican hot toddy. It’s like mulled wine but better,” she says. Longoria agrees that pumpkin spice lattes are the drink of the season, and now they will be more festive with the addition of tequila. There is nothing like setting the tone for a celebration
A Manhattan is a stylish, timeless drink. The first ever record of a Manhattan cocktail was in 1880 when a newspaper in Olean, New York introduced the recipe as “a mixture of whis key, vermouth and bitters.” These days, there are so many iter ations of the drink that it is more of a category than an actual recipe. The Manhattan is a balance of herbs and grain, spice and fruit, elegance and bite. And one thing is certain, no mat ter the mixture – there must be bitters. Drinking a Manhattan without bitters is like eating a chicken without seasoning.
The Manhattan, in all its iterations, has survived wars, pro hibition, economic upheaval and countless presidencies (it was even bolstered by some administrations). These days, it is a classic addition to any celebration.
An easy crowd pleaser, rum is a versatile spirit. It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or mixed with sweet flavors for a delightful cocktail. Although rum cocktails like mojitos and daiquiris are sum mertime favorites, their flavors lend themselves nicely to Houston’s mild climate year round.
The best recipes are the ones you know by heart. Simple, easy and straightforward there is no need to reference a phone or book. One caveat to simple drinks is that they need to be made with premium ingredients. High-end tequila is on the rise in the U.S. and the best way to enjoy its complex flavors and elevated structure, is to sip tequila neat.
Tequila experts agree that the spirit should never be sipped over ice because the tongue can become numb, inhibiting the ability to taste the delicate flavor notes. Glassware plays an important role in enjoying tequila, as well. Flutes, tulip and whiskey glasses are all suitable for enjoying the aromas and flavors of a premium tequila.

We recommend enjoying Espolon Cristalino neat or on the rocks to appreciate the unique character of this minimally filtered Anejo and Extra Anejo Cristalino Tequila.

PLANNING A TRIP TO MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE? HERE’S EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR A GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY.
ARTICLE BY GABI DE LA ROSATucked away on the western side of Tennessee adjacent to Arkansas and the Mississippi River, Memphis is a blend of nostalgia and modern charm. Known as the “home of the blues” and the “birth place of rock and roll,” it is the second largest city in Tennessee, but by no means is it crowded. It is far from glitzy Nashville so visitors won’t run into Broadway-like kitsch (tractors pulling screaming loads of tipsy bachelorettes aren’t part of the city’s appeal). However, the roots of musical culture, his tory and welcoming attitude of the south are front and center.
Memphis is the kind of place where there is something for every type of traveler. There are sites steeped in Americana, plenty of restaurants worthy of a reservation and luxe accommodations. Visitors can picnic in the park where the first-ever rock and roll concert took place, hang with climbing goats on Beale Street or dive head first into plates loaded with delicious barbeque.
The best time to visit Memphis is the spring or fall when temperatures are more tolerable – summers are long and hot in the southern city. Temperate weather makes it easy to spend time outdoors walk ing (the city boasts over 3,000 acres of green space) and enjoying views of the Mississippi River or explor ing the city’s various attractions. Depending on their location, visitors don’t need a car when visiting, since the downtown area is exceedingly walkable and ride-sharing opportunities are prevalent.
TIP: Book a suite at Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis. Visitors have plenty of room to spread out and will enjoy floor-to-ceiling views of the Mississippi River.
Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis is the ultimate home base while visiting Memphis. The recently opened hotel offers luxuri ous accommodations and is located within walking distance of several of the city’s most sought-after attractions.
The hotel made history as the first and only hotel on Tennessee’s famed Beale Street and is home to downtown’s only resort-style pool, featuring cabanas and a deck for live entertainment.
The hotel has two restaurants, Cimas and Beck & Call . Beck & Call is Memphis’ only riv erfront and rooftop bar offering unobstructed views of the Mississippi River and the biggest light show on the river on the famed Hernando de Soto Bridge.
Guests of Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis are welcome to all the amenities of the world’s first Caption by Hyatt hotel. Located next door, Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis boasts an urban feel with do-it-yourself check-in and ordering at a deli cious restaurant, Talk Shop and Beer Garden.
TIP: Wear comfortable walking shoes and stretchy pants. Memphis is known for its delicious and heaping plates of southern style comfort food.
Visitors can enjoy several delicious meals within walking distance of the hotel, including Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken . The restaurant has been a local favorite and has used the same family recipe since 1953. Also within walking distance, Beale Street offers several tasty options, including B.B. King’s Blues Club and Rum Boogie Cafe
Catch a ride to The Second Line, where chef Kelly English puts his spin on deli cious cajun and creole food. Don’t miss their famous po’ boy or seafood pasta.
The craft beer scene in Memphis is burgeoning, and Grind City Brewing is known for its beers and seltzers. The brewery is located on 2.5 acres and offers a varied selection of seasonal favorites and menu staples.
With over 100 barbecue restaurants, Memphis is a pork grillin’ hot spot. Every local has their favorite, but vis itors can’t go wrong with a tasty meal at Rendezvous . For over 70 years, the Vergos family has served their signature dry rub barbecue to legions of locals and visitors.
TIP: There is so much history to explore in Memphis it is easy to plan a full and fun itinerary.
The best way to pack in most highlights in Memphis is on a bus tour. Backbeat Tours not only provides a historical tour of the city, but they also do it while singing. The fun and upbeat tour has a musical component that makes seeing several musi cally and culturally significant sites a bit more memorable.
Save time to visit Sun Records , the recording studio known worldwide as “The Birthplace of Rock’ n’ Roll.” Visitors will hear Elvis Presley’s first recording, see memorabilia from the recording studios’ heyday and even take a picture with the microphone used by Elvis Presley and several other musical icons, including Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and B.B. King.
The National Civil Rights Museum is within walking dis tance of Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis. The museum, partially located in the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, is known as one of the premier institutions dedicated to civil rights and gives an in-depth history of African Americans in the U.S.
Visitors can’t leave Memphis without spending time on Beale Street . Located minutes from Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis, in the heart of downtown, visitors can hear a mix of blues, rock and gospel music every night of the week. Beale Street is only three blocks long, but its history and leg endary mix of clubs, restaurants and shops make the National Historic Landmark worth visiting. Watch out for the famous Beale Street flippers who make it their social media-worthy job to jump over as many people as possible and check the calendar for annual events like Memphis in May and Beale Street Music Festival. The Orpheum Theater also located on Beale Street, has original chandeliers and fixtures from the 1920s. Visitors can catch Broadway productions, musical acts and comedy shows in the historic venue.
Now in its third year, the City Lifestyle Giving Campaign will give away $300,000 this holiday season to help individual community members who would benefit from a helping hand during their time of need. But they need YOUR HELP to make it happen! Maybe you know of a single parent strug gling to provide, an elderly person who has experienced loss, a child enduring a health issue, a co-worker suffering a sudden, unexpected tragedy or a neighbor with a finan cial hardship who has fallen between the cracks of getting assistance. Chances are you know someone with a specific need—even if nobody else does.
To preserve and protect the dignity of every recipient, the City Lifestyle Giving Campaign is completely con fidential. No identities will be revealed or publicized in ANY way. (Even those who nominate others may remain anonymous if they choose.)
Last year, City Lifestyle was able to give to more than 70 recipients all over the country by sending checks in the mail through New Year’s Eve. (This year, the goal is to double that number with checks ranging in amount up to $3,000 each.) With nominations flooding in from community members and leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you, we were able to reach people who might otherwise go unnoticed.
“We believe in giving back and serving the communi ties where we live in a real and tangible way,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “This Giving Campaign is all about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them this holiday season.”
Together with Matthew Perry, Chief Sales Officer, Steven adds that the outpouring and gratitude from the recipients was overwhelming and affirmed that this is a tradition they want to continue.
“We believe God has blessed our company with contin ued success,” Matthew adds, “so we in turn want to be a blessing to others.”
City Lifestyle has also enacted an internal giving pro gram whereby every employee in the company receives $100 to give away to someone in the community. “The idea is to encourage our employees to keep doing it on their own,” Steven says. “Taking care of one another and blessing others is so rewarding that it perpetuates a cycle of giving. It’s extremely important to me as a person and as a company to foster that culture of generosity.”
“This Giving Campaign is all about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them this holiday season.”
To submit a nomination, follow @citylifestyle on Instagram and fill out the form found in the bio link. All entries will be read, and because this is not a raffle, there is no need to nominate someone more than once. The amount given to each recipient will be based on need.
YOUR GUIDE TO A SIMPLE AND STYLIZED NEW YEAR’S SOIRÉE
FOLLOWING CLOSELY ON THE COATTAILS OF AUTUMNAL AND WINTER HOLIDAYS, THE NEW YEAR CAN OFTEN BE OVERLOOKED DUE TO AN UNDERSTANDABLE DESIRE TO TAKE A BREAK FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE SEASON. But, a holiday that celebrates past memories and the opportunity for a fresh start shouldn’t lack any of the glitz of its celebratory predecessors. Round out the final days of the year reminiscing on or saying goodbye to the experiences of the previous 12 months with a simple end-of-theyear gathering that isn’t lacking any of the glamour.
Champagne has long been a traditional drink to toast to the new year. Keep it simple but step up your game with your own DIY Champagne cocktail bar. Consider stocking your bar full of custom Cham pagne or bubbly choices, festive mixers like cran berry juice or rosemary simple syrup and unique garnishes like fresh fruit and herbs or decorative ice cubes with edible flowers.
Keep your guests happy with the perfect cheese plate. Consider how many people you’ll be serving, whether you’ll be serving before or after dinner and what chees es you’ll want to include. According to WineFolly.com , sparkling wines pair best with creamy, sticky cheeses due to the high acidity and carbonation.
There’s no need to go out and buy a ton of ad ditional decor when you just decked the halls (quite literally) with holiday ornamentation. Make those decorations work as hard as you did by repurposing all the greenery, pine cones and wood place settings you just couldn’t say no to. Throw in some neutral napkins, some natural twine and some dried orange peels for a woodsy (and fragrant) twist.
+ Cheese board or serving plate + Assortment of cheeses
(We recommend Brie, Port Salut, Muenster, Camembert or Gruyere)
Cheese is best served at room temperature, so be sure your cheese has time to rest prior to serving. Slice the cheeses and arrange artful ly on your cheese board with labels for each. Consider providing separate serving knives for each cheese to avoid any mixing of flavors. Add any additional bites you’d like and enjoy!
