The holidays are here and as the spirit of the season is among us, we often try to replicate what made the season feel so magical to us in our youth. The traditions we set for our own families often mirror some of what we experienced as a child whether it is the smells, the sounds, the lights, the holiday activities or a combination of it all that reflect that best. This month, we wanted to highlight the magic of the season and what our city has to offer that helps spread holiday cheer. While this season can be beautiful for some, it can be painful and lonely for others, especially those who have recently lost a loved one. In the true spirit of the season, let’s take care of those in our community that need assistance or who are alone. My hope for you this season is that you feel love and peace and that we all remember to take care of each other extending grace, empathy and love.

The Pie Dish Now Serving Up Creamy Deliciousness Julia Henricks, owner of The Pie Dish, held her grand opening in Frisco during mid-November at 7967 Custer Road, Ste. 200. She makes from-scratch, cream-based pies for what she calls "every occasion, from birthdays to straight As." Prosper Gains New Target Retail Store A new Target retail store opened in Prosper at U.S. 380 and Preston Road. The store covers approximately 140,000 square feet. The store’s opening is part of phase three of the Gates of Prosper project. Target was planned to serve as an anchor for phase three, and this phase also is slated for mixed uses, including restaurants and retail. Cricket Pitch, Four Pickleball Courts Planned For Prosper Plans are underway to add a cricket pitch and pickleball courts to Prosper’s parks system. Lakewood Preserve Park in Prosper currently features a trail, natural areas and a playground unit for ages 2-12. Funding for new project designs totals nearly $5 million and originates from 2020 bond money, city fees and general fund dollars. Developer Hines is designated to manage the project, covering park design costs and platting expenses in lieu of park fees.

Tim Michel is not one to openly brag about what he has done for local communities. Customers of family-owned Collin County Glass indicate Tim is committed to helping them create luxurious spa-like bathrooms with customized, frameless shower enclosures; however, they may not realize he helps local groups in ways not as crystal-clear as the glass he uses in these showers and windows. Tim provides precision-fit shower enclosures that transform even small bathrooms into bright and open sanctuaries. "Custom-fit glass used in frameless showers is sturdier than traditional showers," he explains. “Many of our customers select low-iron glass

Last holiday season we gave away over $300,000 to help 116 individuals and families in need, but we need your help to make it happen again this year. With nominations flooding in from community members and leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you, we were able to reach people who might otherwise go unnoticed. Perhaps you know of a single parent struggling to provide for their family, an elderly person who has experienced loss, someone enduring a health issue, a co-worker suffering a sudden, unexpected tragedy or a neighbor with a financial hardship who has fallen between the cracks of getting assistance.
