Maylee says she’s always held in her heart a passion to help at-risk women and children due to abuse she suffered as a child. In December of 1992, Maylee and George held a concert event benefiting a home for unwed and single mothers. On the day of the event, they were challenged with the worst ice storm North Texas had experienced in decades. But, as musicians, they felt “the show must go on,” and it did, raising $3,700. That day marked the begin ning of Love Life Foundation.
Love Life is funded through individual and business donations, the Love Life Market located in the Guitar Sanctuary in Adriatica, and local events, such as the annual backpack and school supply drive and Foodstock, which is an opportunity for the community to stock the local food bank. Over the past 30 years, Love Life has donated more than $2.5 million in money and goods com bined in its outreach efforts. Some of Love Life’s local ben eficiaries include North Texas Family Health Clinic, Hugs,

Co-founded by Maylee Thomas-Fuller and her husband, McKinney Mayor George Fuller, Love Life brings awareness of the many tragedies inflicted upon children, and identifies supporting agencies and groups that bring relief and comfort to the young victims and their families.
Love Life helps at-risk women and children in var ious ways, including hosting community events and outreaches, feeding and clothing the homeless, and supporting community organizations that advocate for those in-need. Maylee says one of the biggest high lights over the past 30 years was an outreach trip to Axum Ethiopia in 2007 to help bring sustainable water, electricity, food, and medical supplies to the St. Yared Orphanage. It was on this trip that the Fullers first met, and ultimately, adopted their daughter Milyan.

“It was a definite highlight in my life, being able to posi tively impact the lives of so many forgotten children” says Maylee. “Then, to so unexpectedly meet a young girl while across the globe, that would become part of our family here in McKinney, was nothing short of a miracle. We’re all in this world together, and when we step out to help one another, that’s when we find our greatest purpose and joy.”

While the town of Prosper is rapidly growing, so has Lily Claire over the past year. Located at 201 S. Main St., in Downtown Prosper, the store has doubled its retail space in size from just one year ago. When the doors first opened in October 2020, the store space was barely 400 square feet, but now owner Becky Morris says the space is truly the perfect size. Becky and Lily Morris pride themselves on offering customers clothing options that are unique from what is found in other stores and what are perfect outfits for any occasion. As a form fashion and marketing director for Saks Fifth Avenue, much of Becky’s inspiration in the store is runway-inspired, while also combining her and Lily’s love for vintage and boho.
Offering a variety of trendy, one-of-a-kind pieces, many feel Lily Claire is a go-to destination for the latest clothing trends and must-have accessories. This mother-daugh ter-owned lifestyle boutique features modern, boho, clas sic and vintage styles as well as unique gifts.
Over the past year, Becky incorporated styling services, style presentations and shopping parties into Lily Claire. She and Lily have hosted several runway events in-store, featuring the latest fashion trends. Becky says she loves personal styling and helping people find the perfect out fits. Customers also can catch Becky and Lily showcasing the latest trends on their social media accounts.
Lily Claire’s Fashion 101 classes help customers learn the basics of fashion, the latest fashion trends, and how to know what goes with what. These classes are the perfect way for people to discover their own style and can be part of a girl’s night out, a teen birthday party, or even oneon-one personal consultations. For those wanting a more personal shopping experience, style parties offer small groups of four- to six people opportunities to celebrate a special occasion while learning the latest styles and how to wear them. Many people are unsure of what to wear or just want to try the latest trends. A Lily Claire Style Box is perfect for them. This kit contains items hand-picked by Becky. “From the very beginning I’ve wanted to have a store that features a different style from what you can find every where else,” says Becky. “It has been really fun and reward ing to put together a store full of stuff that I love.”
The expansion of the store and styling services are not the only change that will be happening. This fall, Lily will leave for the University of Oklahoma. While this will bring a change to her role and time inside the shop, her time at college will provide an opportunity to expand Lily Claire’s online shopping and styling services outside of the North Texas area.

Beautiful Lives Project presented the 2nd Annual Rockstar Runway event in Historic Downtown McKinney following the city's Red, White and BOOM! Parade. The Rockstar Runway special abilities fashion show is an annual event recognizing unique and valuable individuals who may have been born with differences but shine bright and are full of character and beauty.
The mission of Beautiful Lives Project is to give people with disabilities and special needs the opportunity to actively par ticipate in activities and events that may not have been possi ble for them previously due to physical or facility limitations.

From its inaugural year in 2021, Rockstar Runway nearly doubled the model count from 25 in 2021 to 40 in 2022. Half of last year’s models returned, and the remainder were new models from across the Metroplex, with the youngest model being just 4 years old.
“Mayor Fuller and his wife, Maylee, have created a very inclusive and supportive environment for non profits like ours to flourish here,” she says. “Beautiful Lives Project hosts events nationwide and the commu nity support we receive in McKinney is second to none.”
Planning for the 3rd Annual Rockstar Runway is already in the works. Stacy says post-show, Beautiful Lives Project has been inundated with communication from sponsors and vol unteers about the impact of working side-by-side with the models and how it has changed the way they view the disabled and special needs community. She adds that it’s perspectives like these that will allow the Beautiful Lives Project staff to increase programming that will help communities stop focusing on abilities and disabilities and start focusing on what’s possABLE.

“Another area we explore is what job description and com pensation someone is seeking,” says Marie. “Along with their interest or ability to handle weekend or evening hours, overall availability, type of housework preferred and their personal transportation status.”
On the flip side, Stephanie says the potential match and offering with parents include ensuring that compensation, benefits, schedules, household responsibilities, parenting styles, start dates and employee status (W2 / private or hybrid) are rigorously discussed and agreed upon. Marie and Stephanie provide draft agreements and unique working trials once a match has been made. They offer three tiers of services: a 90-day program with a replacement guar antee; a 120-day guarantee; and a 1-year guarantee.

Each year in the U.S. alone, there are an estimated 15,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed withLeia’s Kidscancer. helps provide hope and support to children and their families battling childhood cancer.

Children can be nominated to receive funding and a “Crown A Kid” party through an online form located on Leia’s Kids website. Each party is tailored to the individual child and costs $1,000. At this party, the family will receive their dona tion check on behalf of Leia’s Kids as well. Currently, there are 130 kids from North Texas and other states on the waitlist.

“Leia’s Kids is such a noble cause and I want to be part of it,” says Hernandez. “I love being part of this community and part of change.”
Funding for Leia’s Kids comes from generous dona tions and community partners. Local businessman Nielsen Hernandez, owner of Nielsen’s Remodeling, feels strongly about the work Leia’s Kids is doing. For every full kitchen or full bath room remodel between August and December, he pledged to donate $1,000 to Leia’s Kids.
The “Crown a Kid” party concept stems from James 1:12, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” Kids with a cancer diagnosis are in for the fight of their life, but they accept the mission. The “crown” is their reward for being so brave in the fight. At each event, Leia crowns the warrior and honors the sib lings that fight alongside of them.
Leia’s Kids help provide financial and emotional support to par ents whose child has been diagnosed with cancer. Expenses, such as travel to treatment, hotels, food and childcare, quickly add up. This nonprofit organization provides families with $1,000 to help reduce some of the financial burdens a family may be facing. A cancer diagnosis is scary. With the help of Princess Marygold, Leia’s Kids throw a special “Crown a Kid” party for the child to celebrate their courage. Princess Marygold is the first-ever childhood cancer survivor princess. Her mission is to bring smiles full of hope to children fighting the biggest battle of their life, childhood cancer. Cancer affects every one, even princesses and princes. Princess Marygold helps make every child feel royal in their fight against cancer.

Leia Hunt was first diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer when she was 2 years old. Leia underwent 31 surgical procedures, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and ultimately the insertion of a radioactive plaque in her left eye. The radi ation defeated her cancer but left her blind in the left eye. She has turned the devastation of her childhood cancer into a testi mony of hope and faith.
