Do you ever put your hand up to cover your smile?

Do you think you show too much or too little of your teeth when you smile?

Would you like to change the way your teeth or gums are shaped? Do you have gaps between your teeth? Are you missing teeth?

LIFESTYLE LETTER

Kids and Pets FOR MANY OF US, AUGUST IS A BITTERSWEET TURNING POINT IN THE CALENDAR YEAR. Summer freedom is drawing to a close, and the school bells will be ringing any day now. While the lazy days of sipping cool beverages poolside may be numbered, this month brings a sense of renewal. New routines, new clothes and new school supplies often come to mind in August. And because we dedicated an issue to both the men and women of our community earlier this year, it would only be right to celebrate some of our cutest residents: kids and pets! There’s no doubt we have some serious pet lovers in McKinney and Prosper. Meet a few of them (and their four-legged friends), and you’ll find what

Check out Caden Ralston's and Alexa Burkhart's stories on pages 20 and 24 to see what makes them unique members of our community. Cheers to another wonderful month ahead, McKinney and Prosper. And in between are those who don’t play guitar yet find solace in his beautifully penned lyrics and memorable melodies. Phil’s solo career has spanned more than 40 years and has included more than 60 solo albums, both vocal and instrumental, eight releases with his band, Glass Harp and numerous duets and trio albums. An Emerging Star

ARTICLE TOM BRIDGES

ALEXA BURKHART 14 YEARS MUSICIAN WHEN YOU MEET HER, YOU KNOW SHE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL. She was born in Mexico and has dual citizenship. Her mother, a former actress, inspired her, and her Mexican grandmother encouraged her. She started singing when she was 2 years old...and hasn’t stopped since. Alexa Burkhart is now a 14-year-old budding star in the growing McKinney and Prosper music scene. She started more formal training on the guitar and singing skills at The Guitar Sanctuary Performance Academy at the age of seven and has been a stellar student and performer all the way. According to Shane Frame, managing partner at The Guitar Sanctuary School of Music, Alexa has all that it takes to go far in the music industry. “Alexa is a natural talent, very attentive to coaching and very tenacious. She both ‘gets’ and values the experience of her mentors,” Shane says. She is an old soul and has been extremely easy to work with. Besides playing the guitar and ukulele and singing, she writes lyrics, which explains the fact that her favorite class at Prosper High School is English language arts. She loves being with her family. Her mom is now an innovation health coach, and her dad works in the transportation and logistics industry. They visit her mother’s family in Mexico a couple of times a year. She has two brothers, 10 and 13, whom she loves enough not to have given up any “dirt” on them.

However, among the most favorite things she enjoys doing is, of course, performing. Alexa has sung in public from an early age, singing the national anthem at such events as Red, White and Boom and Octoberfest. She has appeared at AT&T Stadium and recently has been performing at various venues such as the local Starbucks and The McKinney Coffee Company. Now, she is promoted as Alexa B Heart and writes, records and performs her original songs. She is a music leader at the Preston Trails Community Church as well, and all who know her have faith she will not waste her many musical talents. AlexaBHeart.com

IF YOU HAVE AN ASPIRING BALLERINA, YOU SHOULD CONSIDER TEXAS YOUTH BALLET CONSERVATORY (TYBC). However, don’t expect this to be your child’s typical dance class. It’s the real deal. According to Jennifer Dulin, the studio director for ballet, in order to achieve effortless beauty, one must not just have raw talent. One must have an internal drive to persevere through the type of training required for learning proper technique. Having not been taught proper technique early in her life, she has dedicated hers to teaching just that. After just a few years under Jennifer’s instruction,
