DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS! THE MUSICAL FEB 23-24 AND MARCH 1-2 A hilarious battle of con artists in musical form! Based on the 1988 movie—now a musical! Lawrence Jameson works the French Riviera and makes his living by talking rich women out of their money. Freddy Benson is also a swindler preying on sympathetic women with stories about his grandmother’s failing health. The two men meet on a train and attempt to work together, only to realize there is only room for one of them to operate in such a small town, so they make a bet to see who can extract $50,000 from a young heiress. “ART WASHES AWAY FROM THE SOUL THE DUST OF EVERYDAY LIFE.” –PABLO PICASSO ARTICLE TOM BRIDGES | PHOTOGRAPHY AZURE PHOTOGRAPHY, CHRISTIE CONNELL

True Art is Unique NETANYAH ORIGINAL ART

IF YOU ARE SEEKING ORIGINAL, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECES OF ART, THEN LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THE NEWLY OPENED GALLERY OF FINE ART AT NETANYAH ORIGINAL ART. This is the place to go to own a canvas painting, a sculpture, glass art or textile art. It gives you not only the beauty of the art but also the pride of knowing that you are in possession of the only one in existence.  Janelle and Bill Johnston had both developed an eye as well as a true admiration for art at an early age. Through this appreciation—and a lot of hard work— they  established relationships with some of the most respected artists in their fields. Janelle had known some of them, and the Johnstons have earned their trust in placing their unique works in the gallery. As soon as you step into the gallery, you will notice the true value of original and one-of-a-kind art—from the very detailed and beautiful canvas paintings by Joe Barbieri to the 1,000-pound granite sculpture of a mare and her two ponies by Rolando Saenz. Most importantly, every piece of art is the only one in the world. While the gallery features a variety of works by numerous artists, including some works by local students, the majority of works are by Joe Barbieri.  His paintings are so lifelike that you will have to look closely to make sure they are not photographs.  Netanyah Original Art is honored to be able to present the largest collection of Joe's work.

VATION CADEMY

OVATION ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS WAS FOUNDED IN 2018 TO PROVIDE A HOME FOR PERFORMERS TO PURSUE THEIR PASSION

OF THE ARTS THROUGH PROFESSIONAL-STYLE

TRAINING WHICH PROVIDES THE TECHNIQUE, LIFE SKILLS, EXPERIENCES AND CONNECTIONS NECESSARY TO SUCCEED IN THE INDUSTRY. Ovation Academy equips students to be good-

hearted people as well as hard-working professionals and respectable leaders.

Ovation Academy offers a full immersion program

for students in grades 6-12 with academics completed on-site taught by certified teachers and industry professionals. This option allows students to complete mid-

dle and high school requirements and select a major to focus their technical arts training. The Homeschool Co-op allows students to take courses at their own discretion and allows participation in field trips and com-

munity outreach but excludes the on-site academics. Ovation Academy also provides after-school enrichment classes and performance opportunities which are open to the community for ages 3 through adult.

Training in the disciplines of dance, acting, musical

theater and  theatrical production and design as well as the business of being a professional artist is available. Ovation students are trained to be highly tech-

nical artists with a sense of community and humility. Philanthropy and community outreach are central

themes at the Academy. The school has a culture of family, positivity and support, unlike traditional schooling models. They bring in guest artists to assist in the high-level training the students receive. Ovation

Academy encourages students to pursue opportuni-

ties to audition and work while continuing their arts education. They create networking opportunities with industry professionals and college recruiters as well.

The conservatory academy opened its season in

October with a fantastic production of Pippin the

musical. Audiences were dazzled by the quality of performances the students presented as well as the spec-

tacle created by the design and directorial team. The production was filled with authentic characters, challenging choreography, incredible vocal performances

and exciting use of aerial silks and acrobatics. This show

was an inspiring glimpse at the level of talent and caliber of production expected and presented by the academy. You will not want to miss out on future productions!

The next production is Little Women the Musical, Feb. 21-24. Tickets are available at OvationAPA.org. CONTINUED >

OVATION ACADEMY

(CON TI N U ED)

In November the full-immersion students competed at the Texas Thespian State Festival, along with approximately 8,200 other public, private and charter school students from across the state. The Ovation Academy Troubadours competed in individual and team events. Students representing the academy received superior rankings from every judge across the board. Every single high school student who competed for Ovation along with 12 middle school students qualified for the National Festival this summer! To put this into perspective, McKinney ISD, which has three large high schools and five middle schools, had a total of 38 students qualify for Nationals; and Prosper ISD, with its 6A high school and two middle schools, had 12 students qualify. Ovation Academy will be sending an astounding 32 students to compete at Nationals! Ovation Academy of Performing Arts also took home the first place trophy in the Dance Challenge event! Four students at Ovation Academy of Performing Arts have been cast as part of a television pilot being locally produced. Still The One is a Rio Rancho Studios production. The highly selective program admits approximately a dozen participants per major per session in each age division from across the country for its summer intensive program on Broadway. All seven Ovation Academy students who auditioned were selected to attend! Several were selected in multiple majors as well. This is just a glimpse at the students’ accomplishments in five short months in addition to the numerous community service projects, performances and additional castings. Ovation Academy of Performing Arts is currently holding tours, auditions and interviews for enrollment. Ovation Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization, privately funded, tuition-based conservatory academy. Ovation Academy is seeking sponsors, investors and business partners to assist with the growth and educational opportunities for its students. The 15,700-square-foot venue is available for class and production rentals as well.  For more information, visit OvationAPA.org and like the Facebook page Facebook.com/ovationapa or contact info@ovationapa.org.
