Smile and photo by Dr Jensen

DR. DOUG JENSEN

You may have known

already that Dr. Doug Jensen is an orthodontist who has been practicing nearby in the McKinney/ Prosper area for the last decade. But who knew that he is also a dual specialist in not only the art and science of orthodontics, but in a closely related field of prosthodontics as well? If you weren’t aware, prosthodontics is the specialty of high level understanding of the various dental problems, advanced treatment planning, and the carrying out of the plan with uncommon skill and craftsmanship. People seek prosthodontists when esthetic stakes are high, or when others just couldn’t get it right.

3595 S. Custer Road, Suite 200 McKinney, Texas 75070

(214) 842-8106 JensenOrthodonticArts.com

Of course, he has many nice things other orthodontists claim to have such as:

• Complimentary first visit • Well trained team • Latest technology • On time appointments • Flexible payment plans • He’s a nice guy and all It practically goes without saying that we need to provide an experience people will love, and we do indeed. But as important as these things are to proceeding with your treatment, none of them require years of additional specialty level training. Where the rubber really meets the road about you or your child’s teeth and all things smile—that is, expert care performed at the highest level—there is quite literally not a more highly trained and experienced craftsman in this area in dentistry than Dr Jensen. Come treat yourself or your kids to a true dental crafstman and determine for yourself why so many patients refer their friends and why even many dentists themselves come to Dr Jensen to get their own teeth fixed right.

IF YOU HAVEN’T VISITED DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY RECENTLY, YOU ARE MISSING ONE OF THE FINEST HISTORICAL DOWNTOWN SQUARES IN TEXAS. Head east on Virginia Street, which quickly becomes Louisiana Street once you pass under the U.S. Highway 75 underpass. About a mile farther you will arrive in a wonderful little slice of Americana. The 130 privately owned restaurants, shops combined with a boutique hotel and a performing arts center all housed in unique historical buildings are worth a visit. The premier home furnishing store is Uptown, which is owned by Linda Day, who owns and operates four unique stores in downtown McKinney. Linda founded, owns and has managed these businesses for the past 24 years. All four of Linda’s stores are located on the historic downtown square.   Her first store was Arabellas, a lady’s apparel shop complete with jewelry, shoes and accessories for every woman’s closets. Linda’s second store is Paciguo Gelato, a gelato ice cream store with a wide variety of flavors. Finally, she is currently working on opening a new store called L D Designs which will be a hip, bohemian place complete with rugs, art, small-scale furniture and hard-to-find accessories. All of Linda’s stores reflect the elegance, warmth and style of Linda’s heritage as a Southern girl growing up in New Orleans.  Uptown is a 10,000-square-foot store located in a beautiful, open, airy historical building with two levels of shopping. Uptown offers a selection of tables, chairs, sofas and accessories that cannot be found anywhere else. Because Linda is a true professional retailer with an eye for trends, Uptown is stocked with the latest fashions and has an unbelievable collection of affordable art to decorate homes, bringing life and color to all.  Linda and her staff of interior decorators at Uptown offer complete home design services with a complete line of furnishings, accessories, art, rugs, drapes, shutters and window coverings. Uptown is a beautiful store that can fill all your home furnishing needs. Uptown is located at 102 E. Louisiana St., Arabellas is located nearby at 114 E. Louisiana St., Paciguo Gelato is located at 107 N. Kentucky St., and the new store, L D Designs, is located at 112 N. Tennessee St.

He sings the praises of the McKinney area for its cultural arts and his desire to make it known as one of the premier cultural centers in Texas. He has a great start with the stars in the area, which include the Maylee Thomas Band, Kristyn Harris (see page 26), Harper Grace—who, along with Kristyn Harris, made Hollywood on this year’s "American Idol"— and the music school at the Guitar Sanctuary. Getting to know the mayor and his wife, you learn of their strong desire to give back to the community. Visit LoveLifeFoundation.com to see what charities are benefiting from the couple's efforts, as well as those of the many who support the foundation for at-risk women and children. The Maylee Thomas Band is an outstanding treasure for McKinney. Maylee has a spirit that is expressed in every note and gesture, truly bringing a song to life. But as your eyes switch to Fuller, you will note the intensity he has in matching the quality of Maylee’s voice with equally beautiful music from his guitar. So, Fuller remains extremely busy fighting the many issues in a rapidly growing city. However, it seems we can all be assured of one thing. He may not always get everything right or do the impossible—pleasing every citizen—but it is not from a lack of trying to simply do one thing: what is best for the city of McKinney.

D AV I D YOW E L L CONSTRUCTION

Born and raised in the Dallas area, David Yowell is a second-generation Builder and Remodeler. Blessed to find his passion at a young age, he created David Yowell Construction in 1988. By committing to integrity, knowledge, and a genuine love for the industry, David was able to accomplish his goals and become a premier construction company for the city of McKinney. DYC has since won ‘Best Of’ awards and has been featured in a multitude of Texas publications.

We were overly impressed with DYC’s effort to ensure we were getting what we wanted and provide a top-quality product. We would highly recommend David to all our friends and family who are looking for a great quality custom home builder. His professionalism, craftsmanship and commitment to quality are in a league far beyond any competitor
