Gentlemen's Issue
Gentlemen, this one’s for you.
Welcome to the Gentlemen’s Issue of Maple Grove City Lifestyle, our third issue and easily the one with the most stylish socks and secret garage upgrades packed inside.
First up, we’re proud to feature Ageless MN, who have personally helped me become “less of a man,” meaning fewer pounds, more energy, and a little less guilt at the all-you-can-eat buffet.

Our cover story, Gentlemen of Today, spotlights three incredible guys. Shajive Jeganathan isn’t just impressive for being under 40, he has earned accolades usually reserved for people twice his age. Community leader, cultural connector, all-around standout, if Maple Grove handed out gold stars, Shajive would have a wall full.
Then there’s Abe from Alamtal Flooring. Abe didn’t just bring the charisma to our photoshoot (although he absolutely did), he brought science. His secret floor formula, which I now have installed in my garage, has completely transformed it. I don’t want to brag, but if garages had fashion shows, mine would be walking the runway right now.
And tying it all together is Shawn, one of Chalkfest’s original artists, who somehow turned our gentlemen’s portraits into a work of art worthy of our cover. Let’s be honest, some of us need a little creative magic to look that cool.
Speaking of Chalkfest, this year’s event is shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and brighter than ever. We’re giving you a sneak peek at the color explosion coming to Maple Grove this summer.
We’re also highlighting the incredible work at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, where a community festival is raising funds to feed local families. That’s what true leadership looks like, and we’re honored to share their story.
And because a gentleman should know how to look the part, we teamed up with the amazing Amy Seeman to bring you smart, practical fashion advice. (Pro tip: it’s not just about owning a lot of flannel.)
More than anything, I’m grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received. Maple Grove, you’ve been incredible, and every issue is a reminder of how lucky we are to tell your stories.
Enjoy the issue, and maybe go shine those shoes!

A SUMMER CELEBRATION
BREWS, EATS & BEATS RETURNS
Brews, Eats & Beats is happening Saturday, July 26, and you're invited to an unforgettable evening filled with live music, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and good company. It all takes place on the scenic grounds of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
The event began in 2011 when a group of Mount Olivet members, passionate about craft beer, blues music, and barbecue, decided to bring people together for a cause. What started as a small gathering has grown into one of the city’s most anticipated summer events. Over the years, the festival has raised more than $220,000 to support local hunger relief through the Loaves and Fishes Community Meal at Mount Olivet and charity partners.
The location is part of the magic, featuring a natural amphitheater next to a 145-year-old chapel and the beautiful French Regional Park. This year’s music lineup features The Fabulous Armadillos, known for their incredible recreations of hits across every genre. The Stunt will kick off the show with high-energy rock.
Guests can enjoy tasty options from four local food trucks along with craft beer, wine, seltzers, and soft drinks. Lawn chairs are encouraged for the best seat in the house.
Advance tickets are $25 through July 20 or $35 at the gate. Gates open at 4:00 PM, with music starting at 4:30. The event will take place rain or shine.
Come join us and enjoy great music, amazing food, and a summer evening you won’t forget, all while supporting a cause that truly makes a difference.

WHERE NEIGHBORS CAN SEE AND BE SEEN

1-5: Maple Grove’s annual Rock Your Socks event is held on March 21 at the Community Center in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. The date represents the three copies of the 21st chromosome found in individuals with Down syndrome. Guests wear mismatched socks because chromosomes resemble socks under a microscope. The free event features carnival games, music, a bounce house, and fun prizes like colorful socks. It’s a joyful day that promotes inclusion, awareness, and community. 6-7: On April 24, Luther Brookdale Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram unveiled their new Brooklyn Park building, celebrating with community leaders and guests. GENTLEMEN OF TODAY
“SUCCESS IS NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL” - Abe Ahmed

“PUSH BEYOND... AND BELIEVE IN YOUR ABILITIES”
“WORK UNTIL YOUR SIGNATURE BECOMES AN AUTOGRAPH” - Shajive Jeganathan - Shawn McCann
PHOTOGRAPHY BY RYAN SIEMERS PHOTOGRAPHY
ABE AHMED

According to Abe, being a gentleman in today’s world means staying sharp in his industry and truly listening to his customers.
As a business owner and family man, he works hard to separate work from home, protecting family time by setting thoughtful boundaries depending on the task at hand.
While he never had one specific mentor, his respect for hardworking people shaped his view of success and perseverance. Now he mentors his own team, sharing valuable lessons to help others thrive.
To him, success is not a one-size-fits-all definition. It is found in personal and professional growth, kept carefully in balance.
He hopes to be remembered for his hard work, sacrifices, resilience through tough days, and the quality service he provides to others.
After a stressful week, you will find him unwinding with family or going for a long, refreshing run. His mantra sums it all up perfectly: “Do it right, or don’t do it at all.”
Shajive believes that being a gentleman in today's world is about strength, integrity, and leading with clarity, not appearances. Success comes from setting standards and commanding respect without needing to demand it.
Rather than chasing balance, he lives in alignment, where personal and professional commitments move together with discipline and intent. Personal time is treated with the same respect as business, reserved for resetting and recharging without distractions.
His early mentors taught him that the world rewards execution, not effort, and
SHAJIVE JEGANATHAN

that relentlessness matters more than talent alone.
Today, he mentors more than 20 young people, passing on access, strategy, and the mindset needed to not just enter a room, but to own it. Success, in his view, is measured by transformation and legacy, not titles.
His philosophy is simple: "Work until your signature becomes an autograph," a reminder that real impact speaks louder than ambition.
For Shawn, being a gentleman in today’s world starts with treating others the way you want to be treated, personally and professionally.
He believes a calm and friendly approach builds stronger relationships and a lasting reputation. Balancing business and home life can be challenging, especially with frequent travel, but sharing the journey with his significant other keeps connections strong.
Setting boundaries means stopping work once goals are met and making time to truly unwind together.
His mentors, including design firm owner Martin Skoro and artist Terry Stanley, taught him to push beyond his comfort zone and believe in his abilities. Today, he passes those lessons on, mentoring others while also learning from them. True success, in his view, blends happiness with meaningful relationships.
After a stressful week, nature walks, and music offer a reset. His guiding mantra: “Watch out for signposts. The path is often full of twists and turns that can lead to wonderful new journeys that you never thought possible.”

SO YOU WANT TO BE A COWBOY
DISCOVER THE WHIMSY OF THE WEST AT PAWS UP MONTANA
Favorably referred to as the “Last Best Place” and the “Treasure State,” Montana has captured the hearts of cinematic cowboys like Taylor Sheridan and Harrison Ford and inspired the television series, “Yellowstone” and its prequels, “1883” and “1923.” Though fictional, they’ve reminded America of its deeply-rooted spirit for adventure and the simple yet rugged way of life that we all crave. Whether its the backdrop of jagged, snowcapped peaks or the endless golden pastures that are peppered with livestock, this Rocky Mountain soil is a breeding ground for dreamers and doers, and the people who call it home are no strangers to the ritual of ranch life.

So, you want to be a cowboy? Slipping on some leather and having a little hide in your hat are good ways to start, but visiting a resort that brings the best of this life to the forefront, while also embracing modern luxury, is the experience of a lifetime.
Paws Up Montana sprawls the distance of 37,000 private acres of historic estateland, which houses a working ranch and 10 miles of Blackfoot river. Personalization is key—a divine selection of cuisine for the foodies, awe-inspiring activities for the adrenaline seekers, and world-class lodging that tickles every fancy from stargazing glamping, to timber-style family dwellings, to the uniquely designed green “o hauses” that invite the outside world in.
CHELSEA LYN AGRO PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

WHAT TO DO

To change your attitude, you need a change in altitude. Gain some speed or turn up the adrenaline level with ATV tours, electric biking, mountain biking, go-karts, paintball, rappelling down Lookout Rock or whitewater rafting down the Blackfoot River. Indulge in the western art of living with archery, fly-fishing, hiking or sporting clays. For those who want to immerse themselves in the language of horses, there are horse-related adventures such as lessons, grooming or feeding, horse-whispering workshops or organized trails rides. Riders can also enjoy cattle drives that bring you back to yesteryear—driving a herd of cattle across the famed landscape—and bear witness to mustang gentling, where the Equestrian Manager communicates with a wild horse through body language and tone of voice. Skyline Aerial Adventure Park is another notable warm-weather activity, taking guests on two high-ropes courses.

WHERE TO STAY
Luxury Homes are categorized into preference-based properties that boast the thrill of wilderness living. For larger families and multigenerational groups, consider the Wilderness Estates. At 3,250-squarefeet, these estates sleep up to eight guests and feature three large suites with private baths. The Big Timber Homes are available in one-to-three bedroom options and come ornamented with fire places and private decks. The Meadow Homes are 1,100-square-foot single-story homes that sleep up to four guests, situated amid a pastoral and treed setting. For an extra nod of perfection, choose one of the luxury homes that comes equipped with a private tent—ideal for anyone traveling with children (or adults who beckon back their childhood!).
For a more primitive experience, Glamping Homes offer the right amount of canvas to create a close-to-nature experience. Available mid-May through mid-October, choose from river settings to creeksides, bluffs or cliffs. Each tent is adorned with something unique—a copper tub, a picturesque view of Lewis and Clark’s famous Lookout Rock and Western-chic furniture throughout. Zip down the windows to allow for the cool nightly breeze, yet enjoy the modern convenience of electricity. Each campsite has a dining pavilion. And don’t miss the s’mores boards around the communal fire pit, offered by your own s’moresologist—yes, you read that right, and yea, it’s a thing.
Lastly, but certainly not least, are the state-of-theart accommodations of the Green O hauses. This portion of the property is completely curated for those 21 years of age and older. It’s a resort within a resort, a hidden pearl in an oyster of experience. The Tree Haus is elevated 23 feet in the air and offers unparalleled forest views. The Green Haus includes a skylight above the bed for an unmatched view of pluck-emfrom-the-sky stars. The Round Haus has curved, floor-to-ceiling windows that offer 180-degree panoramic views. Both the Green and Round Hauses are dog friendly, too, so Fido can rest in the lap of luxury. The Light Haus is illuminated by skylights and unique glass design.
DRINK & DINE
Montana’s best kept secret? Our hideaway chefs, making waves from the Montana wilderness. Chef Brandon Cunningham, Executive Chef at the Green O, is a James Beard Award finalist whose creations at the Social Haus are highly curated through an 8-course tasting menu. Other highly trained and talented chefs like Chef Brett Edlund, Chef Ben Scott, Executive Pastry Chef Krystle Swenson, and Sunny Jin, the General Manager of Food and Beverage, are part of the intricate patchwork of the culinary experience at Pomp, Trough, Shed, Camp and the notable Chuck Wagon—a summertime treat where guests can ride a hay wagon along the banks of the Blackfoot River for an Old West-inspired chuck wagon dinner. The menu ranges from all-natural chicken and Tomahawk ribeye to fresh vegetables grilled over an open flame campfire.

HOW TO GET HERE
Airport: Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) Airport transfers from Missoula are complimentary for guests and all luxury home and Green O accommodations come with a Lexus luxury SUV for transportation use on property.

Gentlemen, It’s Time to Step Up Your Style Game
Discover how a few key pieces can take your style from ordinary to unforgettable.
Amy Seeman, Fashion Stylist
Let’s face it, your style speaks before you do. While there’s nothing wrong with keeping it simple, there’s a difference between basic and intentional. Elevating your everyday look doesn’t mean overhauling your entire closet. It’s about adding depth, interest, and personality, and one of the easiest ways to do that is mastering The Power of 3.

Here’s the concept: instead of just throwing on pants and a tee or button-up, add a third piece. That extra detail can completely change your look, taking you from “I got dressed” to “I’ve got style.”

The one piece I always recommend for male clients is a bomber jacket. Whether it’s leather, suede, or nylon, it instantly adds edge and structure. Layer it over a crisp tee or add texture with a sweater and straight-leg denim. For a laid-back vibe, toss it over a hoodie and sweatpants.
Vests are another great third piece. Performance vests? Keep those casual. They belong on the sidelines or during a Sunday stroll with joggers and a tee. If you’re wearing a vest for work or date night, elevate it. Choose one with clean lines and pair it with a knit or tailored pant.

Blazers and sport coats are still power players. If you’re worried about looking too buttoned-up, dress them down with a polo or quarter-zip. When you want to lean into your sharp side, a button-up and pocket square never miss. Don’t be afraid to explore beyond navy and black—think pastels, subtle plaids, or textured fabrics.

And guys, don’t sleep on accessories. A chain, a ring, or a bracelet stack can add polish without feeling overdone. A great watch? Always a win.
So here’s your style homework: play a little. Add that third piece, try new texture, throw on an accessory. It’s not about dressing up. It’s about dressing with purpose.

Our Favorite Bourbons
The “Best Bourbon” Is Truly Up To The Individual and Occasion
ARTICLE
BY ANTHONY ADAMS
We were recently asked to suggest the Best Bourbon that was affordable and as I reflected on my list of favorites, providing a single answer wasn’t as straightforward as it appeared. Think of it like this. If we asked 100 people in our community what their favorite restaurant is—the answers would be varied based on the individual’s personal palate or even the moment you asked them in!
Here is our list of favorites that will have you covered at any price point and occasion.
BLANTON’S SINGLE BARREL BOURBON
Blanton’s is recognizable on sight due to the round bottle with a brass horse and jockey for a stopper. Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H. The taste profile is sweet, with notes of citrus and oak. The creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon.
— BlantonsBourbon.com
BASIL HAYDEN’S RYE BOURBON –AGED 10 YEARS
In a sea of cask-strength offerings, Basil Hayden’s stays true to its 80 proof roots. The high rye content of its mash bill charges the nose and palate with notes of caraway and spice, while 10 years in the barrel have added leather and an attractive nuttiness. If you aren’t looking for high proof, this is a remarkable bourbon.
— BasilHaydens.com
PINHOOK ‘BOURBON WAR’ VERTICAL SERIES 5 YEARS
Pinhook pulls 150 barrels from a special lot to create this straight bourbon whiskey with a lively nose of butterscotch,
cinnamon stick, licorice, and vanilla. These aromas set the stage for a robust palate of cherry, chocolate, toasted brown sugar, and chicory. With the additional 5th year of age, what was tropical fruit transitions to darker fruit flavors and what was brighter candy is now rich and caramelized; hints of smoke now start to appear for the first time.
— PinhookBourbon.com
EAGLE RARE 10 YEAR
Eagle Rare 10 Year lives somewhat in the shadow of its 17-yearold elder sibling, but don’t let that shy you away. This is a sweet and mellow bourbon with definite signs of maturity and its orange peel and toffee aromas are a little shy, but the palate serves sturdy sweet and spice notes and a toasty finish.
— EagleRare.com
OLD FORESTER 86 PROOF
While others in Old Forester’s impressive lineup claim the hearts of bourbon geeks (such as the 1920 Prohibition Style), this bottle stands head and shoulders above everything at this proof and price point. It oozes aromatic charm and follows with a palate that is lithe but in no way lacking flavor.
— OldForester.com
MCAFEE’S BENCHMARK OLD NO. 8
Sometimes you find a $20 laying around or just need a good mixing bourbon. Benchmark Old No. 8 is made at the same distillery as Blanton’s and the ever-coveted Pappy Van Winkle! The nose bears caramel notes with a delicate stone-fruit backdrop. A robust and sturdy palate with some fine leather notes mingling with dry tobacco, a touch of oak, and a hint of dried cherries. The finish is smooth and calming.

Rediscovering Wellness at Every Stage of Life

Ageless MN is redefining aging by helping individuals feel stronger, healthier, and more connected. Built on compassion, science, and personalized care, they empower clients through hormone therapies, weight loss support, and education. With a dedicated team and a mission rooted in purpose, they help people live better and with confidence. We met with their team to learn how they help Minnesotans age with strength and dignity.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START AGELESS MN, AND WHAT DOES YOUR MISSION MEAN TO YOU PERSONALLY?
The inspiration behind Ageless MN came from a deep desire to help people not just look better but feel better. That’s how our motto was born: “Optimize your Health, Optimize your Life”, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Over the years, I’ve seen family members, myself, and many others silently struggle with fatigue, low energy, hormonal imbalances, and weight challenges that traditional medicine often overlooks. I knew there had to be a better, more personal and proactive approach.
WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER, AND HOW DO YOU TAILOR CARE TO EACH INDIVIDUAL’S NEEDS?
At Ageless MN, we specialize in men’s and women’s health. Our comprehensive services are designed to match each person’s unique goals. Your well-being is our priority, and our mission is to empower you to become the best version of yourself. Services include hormone therapy, Tirzepatide and Retatrutide weight loss therapies, and peptide treatments.
CAN YOU SHARE A MEMORABLE SUCCESS STORY THAT CAPTURES WHAT AGELESS MN IS ALL ABOUT?
A husband and wife came to us feeling exhausted and disconnected. Their energy and connection had faded over time. Our provider ran individual labs and found both were low in testosterone. Within weeks, their energy improved, they slept better, had more drive, and even reignited their relationship. What began as a search for answers became a full lifestyle transformation. Today, they are more confident, connected, and thriving.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE YOUR CLIENTS FEEL RESPECTED, VALUED, AND EMPOWERED AS THEY AGE?
We don’t like getting older either, which is why we see aging as a journey of strength, not decline. From the first consultation, we build a personalized experience based on trust, compassion, and education. Clients are guided through their options so they can make informed decisions with confidence. Whether through treatment or consistent encouragement, we make sure no one feels alone.
WHAT DO YOU THINK SETS AGELESS MN APART FROM OTHER CARE PROVIDERS?
Our approach is highly personalized and focused on long-term wellness rather than quick fixes. We stay in touch with clients, answer questions, and never follow a one-size-fits-all model. Everyone’s biological makeup is unique, and we honor that in the way we provide care.
WHAT DOES “AGING WITH DIGNITY” MEAN TO YOUR TEAM, AND HOW DO YOU EMBODY THAT IN YOUR DAILY WORK?
To us, aging with dignity means embracing every stage of life with confidence and strength. We help people feel their best physically, emotionally, and mentally. Aging should be celebrated, not feared. We make sure every client feels seen, supported, and empowered. We are not sick care; we are health care, and our focus is on optimizing wellness, not masking symptoms.

“Aging should be celebrated, not feared. We ensure every client feels seen, valued, and supported.”
