In 2015, when we started Conejo Valley Lifestyle— just “over the hill,” as they say—our goal was to publish a local community magazine featuring articles focused on family, education, giving back, health and wellness, the arts, finance, home and garden and other topics of interest to the folks who make up the fabric of the community. When it was time to expand our business, we looked for communities that, while different in some ways, were similar in family and community values. We started to reach out to folks in Malibu and Pacific Palisades back in May, and the response since then has been very welcoming and gratifying. So, here we are with Malibu to Palisades Lifestyle!

Our mission statement is direct but simple: to support your vibrant communities with meaningful, useful and entertaining information about its people, places and businesses.

We want this magazine to grow and become an integral part of the Malibu and Pacific Palisades communities, bringing neighbors closer and businesses together for the greater good of this very special part of Southern California. We want this to be your publication, personal and supportive with topics that are important to you.

ctober is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and since

BREAST CANCER Stepping Up The time, effort and dedication of the more than 13 million volunteers in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks have raised more than $810 million to save lives from breast cancer since 1993. Last year alone, 1.4 million walkers across the country raised more than $60 million to help finish the fight against breast cancer.

Who can participate?

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events succeed because of passionate individuals who commit to raising funds, generous donors who support participants, and dedicated corporate and community sponsors.

Participants can walk as an individual or as part of a team comprised of friends, families, neighbors, classmates and coworkers.

Organizations and businesses can also coordinate and sponsor teams of walkers.

1993, millions of passionate participants have joined forces to take

steps against breast cancer in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer annual 3- to 5-mile walks each year.

The noncompetitive annual walks held across the country every October provide a powerful and inspiring opportunity for communities to come together to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about reducing the risk of getting breast cancer, and fundraise for the American Cancer Society.

“Whether we’ve faced it ourselves, or someone we love has, almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some way,” notes the American Cancer Society online. “But at the same time, we can all do something about it. By donating to a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, you’re helping the American Cancer Society make a difference in so many ways, from funding innovative breast cancer research to simply providing a hand to hold.”

Monies raised from the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks help the American Cancer Society fund research, provide education and guidance, and offer comprehensive patient support to those who need it most so that no one facing breast cancer ever has to walk alone.

"Thanks to the dedication of passionate individuals, there is no limit to the impact we can make when we unite together," says Susan Petre, vice president of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. "The money raised by our Making Strides fundraisers will fund innovative breast cancer research, provide free information and support, and help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it's most treatable.”

There’s still time to sign up for this month’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk taking place Oct. 28 at the Santa Monica Pier.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the Walk starts at 10 a.m. Hundreds of participants are expected to come together for the walk, with the goal to raise $175,800.
