The Children’s Edition

When you think about what makes our community great, children are at the top of that list. From little toddler arms climbing on our neighborhood parks to teenagers walking down Main Street with their friends, children are a foundation of Lehi. Their curiosity, spontaneity, playfulness and youthful spirits bring light and love, and in this month’s issue–our goal is to celebrate that light.

Like many of you, I grew up in Lehi. I have fond memories of the magic of Lehi as a child. Square donuts at Lehi Bakery, hearing the loud speakers from the rodeo on summer nights, weekly trips to the library, riding the bus to Lehi Elementary and then driving my own old car to make it to class on time at Lehi High. Lehi was (and still is) an incredible place to grow up. And so today, as I raise my own children in the Lehi and Saratoga Springs area–I look forward to joining in with you as we continue the tradition of making this amazing area a safe, happy and healthy place for our children and youth.

Raising children takes a village. In this issue, we’re delighted to showcase the wonderful people and businesses who are part of our village. The ones who help educate, entertain, protect, feed (because we all know how hungry teenagers are!), and guide our beloved children.

To all of the positive influences–thank you!

And to all of the children and youth: thank you for your creativity, your contagious laughs and joyful dispositions. Our community thrives while you thrive!

We hope this issue inspires you to reflect on the relationships with the children in your life, in our community. Because we are a village, and our children deserve the best!

With Love,

August 2025

Living Lehi: What Every Homeowner Should Know

Your Lehi Home Could Be Worth More Than You Think... And Here’s How to Maximize It

1. UPGRADE WITH PURPOSE

Not all upgrades are created equal. In Lehi’s high-end market, buyers are willing to pay more for timeless features like:

• Fresh paint in soft, neutral tones

• Updated lighting fixtures in warm brass or matte black

• A clean, modernized kitchen (even just new hardware and backsplash!)

Pro tip: Skip the full remodel - cosmetic tweaks can yield 3x ROI before listing.

2. TIMING IS (ALMOST) EVERYTHING

The best-selling windows in Lehi are spring and late summer, but serious buyers are active year-round.

If you’re upgrading or prepping now, you could catch the early fall surge—a sweet spot for relocators before the holidays.

3. YES, EVEN LUXURY HOMES CAN HOUSE HACK

Think house hacking is just for starter homes? Think again.

Many Lehi homeowners are:

• Renting out basement apartments

• Converting detached garages into Airbnb guest stays

• Leveraging ADUs for long-term income

“I’ve helped dozens of homeowners increase their home’s value, sell quickly, and make smart investment choices. Want to know what your home is worth today?” Emma Romney | 385-391-2601 emmaromneyrealtor.com Serving Lehi, Alpine, Draper & More

INSPIRING FUTURE FITNESS

Kenny Knight's School Bootcamps Teach More Than Just Physical Fitness

Kenny Knight is a retired U.S. Marine Corps and Army combat veteran who overcame personal hardship, life-altering adversity and the trauma of war to build Rage Fitness and Salute Supplements. Today, he empowers students across the country with raw, real-life stories of struggle, growth,

“That's my purpose in this world – to serve God's children. This is what God's given me.”

and triumph–teaching them to take control of their mindset and future.

Kenny sets the climate at Rage Fitness with sincerity and thoughtfulness, and teaches each individual person at his gym the ‘right way’ to be fit, by helping them understand their personal ‘right way’. “The most important thing to me is to motivate people, even just to get started, and to give them a why.” Rage Fitness focuses on teaching self-reliance and discipline by creating customized fitness routines and personalized nutrition plans. Kenny wants people to know they need to move and fuel their bodies and he wants to give them the knowledge and skills to do it safely and consistently, even if he’s not around.

Kenny has been in the fitness business for 26 years, and has been doing school bootcamp visits for 17 years. He enjoys being engaged in the community

and getting kids involved in fitness, motivating kids to strive and to continue on, not just physically, but in life in general. At school bootcamps, kids learn to embrace change and being uncomfortable, and to push through the struggle to keep going. Kenny teaches nutrition, health and fitness to kids, typically middle schoolers, since they’re at their most impressionable, and they can take the lessons into high school and adulthood.

Kenny’s program is ideal for elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, colleges, youth leadership programs, athletic programs, ROTC units, and correctional facilities. Kenny teaches about turning adversity into advantage, the warrior mindset, discipline, grit, self-leadership, and his personal journey ‘From Hopeless to Hero’, but it’s not just speaking–he trains attendees  physically, and also teaches them

about nutrition. For school bootcamp visits, Kenny will teach PE, dance and weight training classes, seeing 500-600 students in a day, or train kids during free periods.

Kenny starts every school visit by reminding the kids that they need to listen and pay attention, because the first priority is safety. Then, he takes them through a training session focused on physical fitness and well-rounded nutrition. To end, Kenny talks to kids about pursuing goals, getting comfortable being uncomfortable, pushing through the pain, teamwork, and being considerate to the people around you.

Rage Fitness also offers sports team training sessions for athletic teams looking to improve their physical and emotional strength, while building team chemistry. Kids who have attended Kenny’s school bootcamps become natural leaders at these training sessions, taking what they’ve learned and expanding upon it, inspiring those around them.

Kenny has made a true impact on the lives of the kids he’s taught. Many past bootcamp attendees have trained with Kenny at Rage Fitness, or bumped into him around the community. They remember when he came to their school years ago, and they’ve continued to apply Kenny’s teachings to their lives, letting him know how much it influenced them. “I have some kids who have come to me and have told me that they've done nothing but what I worked with them doing, and they've taken it home and continued to train, and it's helped them get on sports teams or it's helped them compete in some of these

"I have some kids who have... continued to train, and it's helped them get on sports teams or it's helped them compete in some of these things that they do on the outside."

things that they do on the outside, like Tough Mudders and Ragnar races.“

Kenny’s goals for his school visits and youth speaking engagements are to inspire passion for fitness, movement and development for kids. ”I love what it's doing for the kids. I love to see it happen.

I love to see it grow. Sometimes they don't get it, like ‘why are we doing this?’ You can feel their energy, you know? And then when I sit them down and talk to him the last five minutes

of it, it's almost like you can see the light bulb come on. I mean, that that's my purpose in this world–to serve God's children. I can serve with my gifts, and this is what God's given me, and this is what I use.”

If you would like to schedule a free-of-charge Kenny Knight school bootcamp, reach out to Kenny at KennyKnightSpeaks.com. The positive impact of the life skills in Kenny’s speaking and training session has on kids will last throughout their lives.

DANCING TO lifelong skills

STUDIO 19 TEACHES MORE THAN JUST DANCE

ARTICLE BY ASHLEY PETERSON | PHOTOGRAPHY BY JESSICA GILBERT

At just 23 years old, Brooklin Pace, the owner of Studio 19 Dance, creates a welcoming atmosphere for all of her students. The number one focus at Studio 19 is on the kids, and on making sure they enjoy dance. Dance has always been a huge passion of Brooklin’s, and her teachers and mentors helped her not only in dance, but in life. Brooklin uses her background to intentionally create a healthy atmosphere for the kids, while ensuring they’re set up for success.

Brooklin has been dancing since she was two years old, training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and tumbling. She danced on the Herriman High Drill Team in high school, serving as a captain her junior and senior year. She recently graduated from Utah Tech University, where she danced on the Utah Tech Blaze Dance Team and was named part of the All-American Collegiate Dance Team, with a bachelor degree in business management. Brooklin has competed for and won many prestigious dance awards. She has danced with Odyssey and Salt dance companies, danced in Alex Boye’s ‘Bend Not Break’ music video, and competed a dance routine at Miss Utah 2023 as Miss Greater Zion 2022. In addition to owning Studio 19, Brooklin works as an assistant coach for Cedar Valley Drill Team.

Brooklin started Studio 19 in 2024. “From a very young age, this was what I wanted to do. So when the opportunity came, I knew I couldn’t pass it up.” The number 19 has a few special meanings to Brooklin. It was her favorite number growing up, and it’s the year she graduated from high school. She chose ‘Studio 19’ for the name of her dance studio because the number 19 has always brought good things for her, and she hopes it will bring good things for her students.

It can be hard for Brooklin to get people to trust that what’s happening

at Studio 19 is great because of her age. “I’m very young, but I have a lot of dance experience, and I’ve been teaching for a long time. It can be a challenge at first, but then people come in and see for themselves that I know what I’m doing and that Studio 19 is really great.”

Studio 19 offers classes in ballet, ballet technique, pointe, tumbling, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip-hop, and Broadway. Dance and creative movement classes are for kids ages 2-5, which prepares them for competition dance, where the teams bring home award after award! In the summer, Studio 19 offers summer classes and themed camps.

When hiring staff for Studio 19, Brooklin looks for hard workers who are willing to try new things and have a positive attitude. She also looks for friendly people with the ability to get along with the students and the environment of the studio. She ensures that teachers will be a good fit by doing a trial class. “I think it’s super important that they fit the mold of the studio and get along with the students and the way that the studio is run.” Every teacher is hand-selected by Brooklin, and any class with more than ten students has two teachers.

“We believe in bringing a great, fun atmosphere into the studio, then creating the dance culture and technique off of that.” — Brooklin Pace

the studio, then creating the dance culture and technique off of that.” To bring a good culture and community into the studio, Brooklin puts on fun activities for the kids throughout the year, including pool parties in the summer, a competition team banquet, and a carnival kick off with other small businesses in August, plus a Nutcracker performance in December and a spring recital in May. 2025’s spring recital was Alice In Wonderland themed!

“It is for sure a lot of work behind the scenes, but in the end, you see the joy on the kids' faces and the parents' faces. So it's always worth the work.”

Studio 19 is focused on being welcoming, having fun, and enjoying the craft of dance. “We believe in bringing a great, fun atmosphere into

Studio 19 helps kids prepare for their future. “Not only if they want to dance forever, but building good communications skills, good work ethic, and learning how to speak with others and putting them in the real world.. Because we're teaching not only dance, but life lessons.” Dance has been proven to lead to success in later life, and Brooklin has noticed many lessons she learned in dance being important in her adult life. “Dance has taught me so many different life skills, like time management, knowing how to balance a whole bunch of things at once, and how to carry myself and carry confidence in day to day life.” Seeing the growth and excitement in the dancers has been the

most rewarding success for Brooklin. “We’re being super welcoming and uplifting, and we’re pushing them to be better individuals and dancers.” Studio 19 values hard work, being kind to others, and learning when to let others shine.

Brooklin hopes her dancers feel proud of themselves, and that they always put their best foot forward, knowing they did everything they could. She also hopes they leave wanting to come back

and wanting to dance more, because even on the hard days when they get lots of corrections, their teachers want them to know that they love them, and that they want them to love dance.

Bring your kiddos to try out a class at Studio 19!

The new season starts in August, and they will be welcomed with open arms and supported through their dance journey, because “you have to love what you do to get good at it.”

Raising Screen-Smart Kids

An interview with Founding Partner and Senior Vice President of Marketing at GABB, Lance Black.

GABB WAS CREATED WITH A MISSION TO PROTECT KIDS IN THE DIGITAL AGE. HOW DID THAT MISSION COME TO LIFE?

Gabb was born out of a growing concern: kids were being overexposed to harmful content, addictive apps, and online dangers through traditional smartphones. From the beginning, the goal was clear—make parenting easier by creating tech designed specifically for kids.

“Our phones don’t include internet browsers or social media by default,” says the Gabb team. “We help reduce screen time and eliminate exposure to many of the biggest online threats. We want to empower kids without compromising their safety.”

WHAT

MAKES GABB PHONES SAFER THAN TRADITIONAL SMARTPHONES?

Gabb devices are intentionally built with child safety in mind. There are no browsers or social media apps, which drastically limits access to inappropriate content and potential online predators.

But it doesn’t stop there. Gabb Messenger uses AI to flag potentially inappropriate conversations. Gabb Safe Video Calling can detect and block incoming or outgoing nude images and notify parents—giving families the chance to have important conversations before problems escalate.

Gabb Music also fills a big need: “Parents love that kids can stream family-friendly music across every genre—no explicit lyrics, no bleeps, just great music.”

GABB’S MISSION TO PROTECT AND EMPOWER

HOW DOES GABB HELP FAMILIES FIND A HEALTHY TECH BALANCE?

“Too much tech, too soon can actually harm development,” the Gabb team explains. That’s why they created the “Tech in Steps” approach, which allows parents to gradually introduce more capabilities as kids grow in maturity. Gabb’s lineup—from watch to phone—grows with the child, allowing them to build healthy tech habits over time.

GABB IS ALSO VOCAL ABOUT ANTI-BULLYING EFFORTS. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE INITIATIVES YOU’VE BEEN PART OF?

Gabb recently partnered with the Governor’s Social Harms campaign to spotlight how social media is impacting youth mental health. “We shared our research and provided tools for families to better understand how online bullying and toxic content are affecting their kids.”

ARE THERE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS THAT HELP FURTHER YOUR MISSION ?

Digital wellness is at the core of what Gabb does. They’ve led the Gabb Digital Detox two years running, encouraging families to unplug during the Global Day of Unplugging. They’ve also partnered with groups like Wait Until 8th, OK to Delay, and IRLNY to educate families about alternative tech paths.

In 2025, Gabb launched the Gabb Foundation to donate safe tech to families experiencing financial hardship. “Every kid deserves access to healthy connection, regardless of their circumstances.”

CAN YOU SHARE A STORY OF SOMEONE POSITIVELY IMPACTED BY GABB?

“In Indiana, 130 high school students swapped their iPhones for Gabb phones for a month. The results were incredible,” the team shares. Students reported improved sleep, mental health, and social belonging. One boy said, ‘I left my room and made the best friends I’ve ever had.’ When the month ended, many dreaded returning to their old phones. One girl called it, ‘like getting another full-time job.’

CONTINUED >

“We help reduce screen time and eliminate exposure to many of the biggest online threats. We want to empower kids without compromising their safety.”
“You don’t have to give your child everything all at once. Start with a safephone and add features gradually. It’s about empowering kids in a way that aligns with their maturity and gradually grows independence.”

GABB PROMOTES REAL-LIFE CONNECTION. HOW DO YOUR PRODUCTS SUPPORT THAT?

“Traditional phones steal attention. Gabb phones are engineered to give it back,” the team explains. Even their Gabb Watch includes fun features like Gabb Go, a game that encourages kids to complete chores and physical activity to earn coins. “One mom told us her child begged to vacuum just to teach their digital cow a new backflip trick.”

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PARENTS TRYING TO DECIDE WHEN TO GIVE THEIR CHILD A PHONE?

“You don’t have to give your child the internet all at once,” the team says. “Start with a safephone and add features gradually. It’s about empowering kids in a way that aligns with their maturity.”

WHAT’S NEXT FOR GABB?

Gabb continues to innovate and expand their outreach. From product development to nonprofit work, everything is shaped by a single goal: making safe, meaningful connection possible for kids everywhere.

HOW DOES GABB STAY CONNECTED TO FAMILIES’ NEEDS?

“We invite parents and kids to share feedback constantly,” the team says. “That input helps shape our products, improve our services, and ensure we’re growing in the right direction.”
