Lee's Summit has been my home, along with my husband and my three teenage girls, for 28 years. We have built three homes, rehabbed eight homes, shown and sold hundreds of homes with our real estate careers, and even staged numerous homes. My passion for decorating, designing, fixing and changing is evident in our personal homes and even more evident in my Pinterest account. I have been fascinated with the home since I was very young, and it is a passion that continues to grow. The design element is something I have always loved, but it is what my home is filled with that has truly mattered the most—our memories, traditions, the babies, our little dog. I have dreamed of filling a house with that just as much as filling it with decor.

After submitting a video entry, William and Doris were selected to the next level of competition. Using the topic of “How my family celebrates a traditional Chinese festival,” William was the first place winner, and Doris was the second place winner of the entire competition.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) senior Rachel Moore has completed the Gold Medal Level of the Congressional Award for Youth, a program which she began four years ago. Rachel is one of six

students from Missouri to complete the Congressional Award program in 2018. Rachel has completed more than 400 hours of volunteer service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and she planned/executed a four-night, fiveday exploration to Texas designed to foster resourcefulness, flexibility and teamwork. Rachel’s volunteer work has been with the Reach out and Read (ROR) Kansas City Program in early childhood literacy. She hopes to inspire

According to national data, the average cost of a wedding is approximately $35,000. Obviously, some larger weddings can cost more than this amount, while other smaller weddings can cost less. But this is the average cost nonetheless. Many also wonder about the average cost of a divorce when they are about to get divorced. Many theorize that the cost of a divorce should be significantly less than the cost of the marriage itself. Is this realistic? Should it really cost less to get out of the marriage than it did to get married in the first place? If so, why? The reality is that to get divorced, parties can really only complete it one of two ways. The first way is through a comprehensive settlement where parties agree entirely on property and debt division, child custody, child support, spousal maintenance and attorney’s fees. 12

The second way is when the parties cannot agree on one-hundred percent of those issues. Instead, after a trial, a judge ends up having to decide for them. According to a recent article, the average cost of a party to get divorced was $15,000. But when multiplying that number by 2 for both parties, the combined total cost is about $30,000. This is about the same as the cost of the average wedding — give or take a few thousand dollars. Of course, some divorces can be settled quickly and easily at less cost. Others, on the other hand, can be complicated and cost significantly more. This is really no different from the cost of a wedding average. Some weddings are small and do not cost a lot, while others are large weddings where the cost is much higher. For whatever reason, many are surprised that the cost to end the marriage is roughly about the same as the cost to get

This home was built around the owner’s large family, as they wanted to create an oasis for relaxation that was also family-friendly. While the house was getting framed, we discovered the immense size of the attic, which resulted in the conversion of the attic into a huge master suite. This gave us the opportunity to add a wet bar, additional laundry room, sitting area and balcony with views of the lake. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE PROCESS? We loved working alongside the owners to select finishes and furnishings.
