Edison Spaces to Open Second Johnson County Location This Summer Edison Spaces will open its second Kansas City location this Summer at 7900 College Boulevard. The 25,000 square-foot space offers flexible, month-to-month office leases for small business, startups, and national companies looking for Kansas City offices. Similar to the original location at 4400 College Boulevard, the new Edison Spaces will boast top of the line furniture, Wi-Fi, three conference rooms, collaboration areas, spacious offices and state of the art tech amenities for all 44 offices. “We’re excited to open the second Edison Spaces location. Serving the Kansas City entrepreneurial and business communities has been a part of the vision for Edison Spaces since the beginning,” said Tim Barton, founder. Founded in 2017, Edison Spaces has envisioned its purpose to serve as a stepping stone for Kansas City startups and entrepreneurs. The idea, says Barton, is to accommodate the growth of young companies without weighing them down with unnecessary overhead and infrastructure or a complicated real estate transaction. “Edison Spaces is the office space we needed when rolling out our first startups. Something nimble and quick that we could come in and hit the ground running. Instead, we leased office space with an extended contract, waited on Wi-Fi, furniture, construction, painting and office necessities, in some cases, for months. Edison Spaces removes that barrier so small business can come in, plug in their laptops and get to work immediately.

Another perk of Edison Spaces for small business? One flat rate and a three-month minimum. “We know small businesses are in the process of scaling, but often can’t predict their size in one year, much less three. That’s why we don’t lock them into long-term contracts. They can commit to three months and go month to month following. It’s our goal to help them grow in Edison Spaces and eventually, grow out of Edison Spaces,” says Matt Druten, co-founder, and managing director. “We developed Edison Spaces to provide entrepreneurs and small businesses in Kansas City the opportunity to focus on growth, as opposed to the challenges of a complicated real estate transaction and the logistics of setting up their own office from top to bottom,” said Druten. “Edison Spaces fills a need in the marketplace for small to midsize businesses who want privacy, and collaboration but aren’t interested in co-working.”

Finding someone who looks at your child with intentionality and the will to encourage them to reach their personal best is invaluable and is something that I have seen on a regular basis this year with his cross-country and distance track coach, Glenn Daniels. It is evident that Coach Daniels knows what is important in life because above all else, he cares most about the well-being of his “distance family” as he calls them and treats them as such—a family. He lets them know his door is always open to them no matter what, which is evident, as most lunch periods his boys can be seen eating lunch in his room. By example, he teaches these boys how to show respect to everyone, calls out greatness in them, and, at the same time, shows compassion and care for them. He

I like to go to the top of the hill and ride down," John, general manager of Audi Shawnee Mission in Shawnee, says jokingly. However, John is an enthusiastic supporter of the fast-growing sport, and his dealership helps sponsor the Blue River Bicycle Club in southern Johnson County. The club, formed in 1994, is one of the oldest and largest in the region. "The sport of cycling as a whole is growing at a rapid rate," club president Leo Esposito says. "Kansas City is a fantastic place to cycle. The area is becoming more bike-friendly with the addition of bike lanes, cycling equipment has gotten much better, and weâ€™ve even seen the rise of major cycling events locally such as the Dirty Kanza." IN 2011, A GROUP OF AUTOMOTIVE ENTHUSIASTS SET OUT TO OPEN A WORLD-CLASS AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM IN KANSAS CITY. Two years of grassroots marketing and four awards later, the Kansas City Automotive Museum received its first major donation, making the longawaited Museum possible for our community. The Kansas City area is home to major automotive and motorcycle manufacturing, racing and a vibrant collector community. We have a long, storied and proud automotive heritage that needs to be preserved and celebrated. Currently located in Olathe, our interim museum features more than 30 cars in a 12,000 square display space. In addition, the museum hosts car club meetings, special events throughout the year, and has a very active scouting program. 1925 Jordan Sevenpa s s e n g e r S e d a n The Jordan Motor Car Company produced cars from its factory in Cleveland from 1916 to 1931. This Jordan model sold for $3,225 in 1925; it was the company's most expensive car model. The owner of this Jordan discovered it at an estate sale near Moberly, Missouri, and purchased it for $500. A 10-year restoration process put the car in running condition, and it has been driven on a Napa Valley wine tour and through Yosemite National Park. The engine is the original Continental inline eight-cylinder and is rated at 74 horsepower.

1 912 F o r d Model T Commercial R o a d st e r The Ford Model T was an important car for Kansas City. Starting in 1912, Kansas City was the home to the first Ford production facility outside of the Detroit area. The roadster sold for $590 and total production of Model Ts in 1912 was 177,834. The word “commercial” in the name indicates this model was designed for tradesmen with a flat deck behind the cockpit, which could be configured for a variety of tasks.

1929 Pa c k a r d Roadster Early Packards were considered some of the best high-priced luxury automobiles produced in America. The 1929 models had long hoods, sweeping fenders and large oval headlights. But what really pleased car buyers was the standardization of using an inline eight-cylinder engine, replacing Packard’s sixcylinder and twin six engines. A special version of the Roadster, the Model 626 Speedster, was capable of reaching 100 mph. Only 70 of the 1929 Speedsters were built. CONTINUED >

1954 Ford C r e st l i n e Skyliner The Ford Crestline Skyliner was designed as a two-door hardtop with an integrated green-tinted glass panel roof over the front seating area. In the first year of production, 13,444 were sold. In 1955, 1,999 were built, and the 1956 model sold 603 units. Lower sales in the second and third year may have been due to how hot the car could be in summer monthsâ€” air conditioning was not an available option. But the car had many of the new Ford power items like power windows, power seat, power steering, power brakes, plus an automatic transmission, and there was a long list of accessory options available.

1949 Chevrolet Pickup Truck For 1947, Chevrolet introduced the 3,100 (1/2 ton) and 3,600 (3/4 ton) series, known as the Advance Design style, which had a larger cab, allowing for a true three-person seat. New features included a fresh-air heater/defroster, corner windows and an in-dash radio. The engine is a 216-cubic-inch inline six-cylinder making 76 horsepower. A few changes were made for the 1948 and 1949 model years including the relocation of the gear shift from the floor to the steering column on the 1949 model and the relocation of the fuel tank from the frame to inside the cab behind the seat.

It was manufactured in eight different countries and sold in several others, including the United States, from 1955 through 1962. Most of the motors used for the various versions of the Isetta were sourced from existing motorcycle engines. Top speed of an Isetta was 47 to 53 mph depending on the model. The Isetta’s origin was actually Italian; it was designed by two engineers from the Iso S.p.A. company.

1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad The Bel Air Nomad was Chevroletâ€™s first two-door station wagon. There were 8,103 Nomads produced in 1956. This car came about as the result of the 1954 Corvette Nomad concept car which was featured at the 1954 General Motors Motorama show at the Waldorf-Astoria. This Nomad was manufactured in Kansas City at the now-closed Leeds, Missouri, plant. It was equipped with a 205 horsepower, 265-cubic-inch V-8 engine. Retail price was just over $2,700. The current owner has owned it since 1976 and performed a full restoration.

He started running track in middle school and went undefeated in several events. He credits his coaches, Gunn and Waters, who he notes breathed life into him and imparted him with their wisdom. This training was clearly paying off, and Lars began coaching his younger brother who soon reaped great benefits. This led Lars to start a conditioning program during the summer of his seventh-grade year where he worked closely with 12 kids in his backyard. His initiative has grown consistently every year for the last 11 years. He never thought he would be able to pursue coaching full time before attending college, but he is now passionately coaching every day. Following his graduation from Kansas State University, the humble beginnings of Ignite continued to grow. Lars coached out of his

"He comes to our games and watches us perform." In asking Lars about his life’s successes, he refers to a John Wooden quote from his heavily studied book, Inside Out Coaching by Joe Ehrmann. It states, "Success is a peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable." Lars' motivation comes from knowing he can breathe life into those who may be struggling physically, emotionally or spiritually. He is a humble servant who acknowledges his accomplishments are in direct correlation with the wise counsel he has received. Now he is simply returning the favor. "In my athletic career, I have had some rewarding moments but also some significant setbacks," he says. "I’ve had some successes and failures, but ultimately I find my joy in knowing the Lord." This is remarkably different from a criminal matter where after a trial, the defendant is either found guilty or innocent. And it’s remarkably different from a personal injury case where the defendant is either found liable or not liable for whatever negligence was alleged. In the end, a “win” or a “loss” is complicated in a divorce or family law matter. The issues are often many in number and the lines blurry in terms of what is a “win” or a “loss.” A lawyer also cannot change the facts of a case. Sometimes, in other words, a lawyer gets a case with good facts. Other times, they get a case with bad facts. This is not necessar-

ily a reflection on the skills of the lawyer. Further, does anybody really win in a divorce? Or is it more an issue of who loses less? What most clients will want to find in an attorney is somehow who is competent, communicative and diligent versus seeking out a win-loss record.
