I’ll invite an otherwise solo friend to the table, so there’s another voice in the conversation and not a sad empty chair in the room. I’ll send a card and loaf of pumpkin bread to my daughter’s boyfriend’s family so there’s a little piece of me there with her. I’ll try not to cry, or if I do, I’ll escape to Kroger to pick up just one more thing and let loose in the car. I’m sure your holidays will be different this year. Whether it’s because the faces around your table have changed or because your life has changed. It’s inevitable. Let’s promise each other we will embrace the new and make the day meaningful for those around us. Focusing on others always makes us feel better. Stronger. FULTON COUNTY SCHOOLS ACHIEVES STRONG CLIMATE STAR RATINGS The

Department
of
Education released its annual School Climate Star ratings for all school systems in Georgia for 2018. School climate ratings are based on survey results and data from the 2017-2018 school year. Each school is rated on a 1-5 scale, with five stars representing an excellent school climate, and one star representing a school climate in need of improvement. No schools in Fulton were assigned a 1-star rating for 2018. Most notably, the number of Fulton schools earning a 5-star rating has steadily climbed since 2015 with 45 schools in Fulton earning a 5-star rating in 2018, a 50 percent increase over the previous year’s total. School climate refers to the quality and character of school life – the “culture” of a school. A sustainable, positive school climate fosters youth development and student learning, which are essential elements for academic success, career-skill improvement and overall quality of life. The School Climate Star Rating helps determine whether a school is on the right path to school improvement.

It was on the 18th hole that I met a 3-foot long bearded dragon who made it clear with that I was NOT to play through. Patience. Pura Vida.
