CINCITUCKY TRAILS FOUNDER BRIAN BOZEMAN IS SHINING A LIGHT ON THE REGION’S TRAIL NETWORK
ARTICLE BY ROB PASQUINUCCI PHOTOGRAPHY BY BONNIE PHILLIPS
Smoothly pedaling under a canopy of trees along the Little Miami River. A bumpy descent over rocks and tree roots on the Tower Park off road trail. A bike-friendly stop for a post-ride coffee or beer. Outdoor trails and gathering spots are an underrated asset in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky—but Brian Bozeman, founder of Cincitucky Trails, wants to change that.
“We’ve got hundreds of miles of trails, how do we tell that story?” Bozeman says. So, he began engaging with area business leaders, tourism organizations, and bike trail advocates to create a unified voice for the region's outdoor scene. “We started talking about how we would brand it and what we would do,” Bozeman says. “We wanted to get the local riding community excited about this, so we linked arms with Julie Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of meetNKY who partnered with us to create the Cincitucky Trails brand."
After multiple design iterations with local branding firm Dewhaus, the brand emerged with a vibrant bright blue and orange logo to accompany its name, making trail components easy to identify.
“Our goal is to get this colorway and signage across the community to identify this place,” Bozeman says. “We wanted it to be a bit edgy and unique to us. We want this to stick and be memorable.”
Bozeman likens the branding effort to Kentucky's Bourbon Trail. “The Bourbon Trail is not an actual trail. It is an ethereal thing that links up disparate amenities and tells a bigger story,” he explains. In a similar way, Cincitucky Trails is “not rebranding any specific trail, it’s amplifying the voice of all those things, bringing it under one brand to promote the region as an outdoor destination. The outdoor culture of our region has always needed a name and a voice, and now it has one.”
The idea for the brand first came to Bozeman during a mountain biking trip to Bentonville, Arkansas. “It was

really cool to see the connectivity of the trails down there,” he says. Bentonville sits within Oz Trails, a vast network of 550 miles of soft-surface shared-use trails that earned the region the title of Mountain Biking Capital of the World. The initiative was funded by Wal-Mart, which aimed to draw and retain talent. "As we start to consider how we attract talent to the region, we have been more thoughtful about the quality-of-life attributes that we have in this region that helps talent 'stick,'" Kirkpatrick says. "The same stickiness that brings visitors to check us out is the same stickiness that gets someone thinking about moving and putting down roots here." As Bozeman puts it, “They wanted Bentonville to be a place you wanted to live, not a place you had to live.”
Recognizing a similar challenge in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, Bozeman (whose day job is VP of business development at Skanska, a construction company) saw an opportunity. “I feel like everywhere I go, the conversation is about how to get more talent here. How do we prevent brain drain?” On a more personal level, he hopes this work will make the region a place his five children choose to stay when they grow up.
“Bentonville started from scratch,” Bozeman said. “We have trails, but we never told anyone. We never looked at the economic impact of this. We haven’t seen ourselves in that way.” Years of
effort from CORA, Tri-State Trails, and other organizations have made replicating Oz Trails’ success more feasible, as much of the network is already established. Bozeman likens the process to an amusement park, explaining that these groups are building the rides, while Cincitucky Trails is creating the experience. He adds that the region has another distinct advantage—its proximity to the urban core, offering easy access to outdoor recreation for residents and visitors alike.
“People move to places like Denver and Asheville and other ‘outdoor destinations’ only to find when they get there that they need to drive 30 minutes to get outdoors,” Bozeman says. “Here, you can take a lunch break from your corporate job downtown and go shred or run on a trail.”
With the brand now launched, Bozeman is focused on building momentum through partnerships and growing grass roots energy. He envisions transformational projects in the region that Cincitucky Trails will promote.
“Cincitucky is a place that many of us have lived our entire lives and have never really seen. A place that we all believe in but have hidden from the outside world,” Bozeman says. “Cincitucky will change the way we think of ourselves as an outdoor destination and will change the way the world sees us.”

BUILT ON EXCELLENCE
ConnectHER OTR Summit
Intimate and empowering by design, the inaugural ConnectHER OTR Summit offers space for women to be heard, supported, and inspired.
In the heart of Cincinnati, we explore a powerful new summit taking shape — one designed to inspire, connect, and uplift women across every stage of their professional journeys. On September 30, the inaugural ConnectHER OTR Summit will bring women together for a full day of speakers, dynamic workshops, and intentional networking, all grounded in an affirming theme: You Are Enough.
Hosted by the OTR Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with community-building powerhouse Cincy Girls Who, the summit will take place at the Hard Rock Casino from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $95 and include lunch, vendor access, a branded ConnectHER gift, and on-site parking.
But ConnectHER OTR is more than just a conference. It’s the result of years of observation, research, and lived experience by Julie Clayton, executive director of the OTR Chamber, who noticed something surprising while reviewing membership statistics: 38% of the Chamber’s member businesses are women-owned — more than double the national average.
ARTICLE BY LAUREN FISHER PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
“That sparked something in me,” Clayton says. “I started asking myself: What more can we be doing to support this growing part of our community?”
Her search for an answer began with a series of monthly Connector OTR lunch hours — small, intimate networking events styled like dinner parties. “Sixteen to twenty women would come, pre-order lunch, and just talk. Real conversations, real connections,” she explains. “They sold out every single month.”
Building on that momentum, Clayton began dreaming bigger:

Elisabeth Galperin of Peak Productivity
What if the same magic could scale to a fullday event?
Enter the ConnectHER OTR Summit, created in partnership with Tara Osborne, founder of Cincy Girls Who. The pair clicked immediately — Clayton brought the professional lens, while Osborne brought the social spark. Together, they’ve curated a summit that’s equal parts strategic and soulful.
The day is designed with intention, from roundtable seating that fosters conversation to workshop tracks that meet attendees where they are. “We want this to feel personal,” says Clayton. “Something for the entrepreneur just getting started. Something for the mom with a side hustle. Something for the woman in her 30th year of business who’s looking to grow or reset.”

Forge Your Own Path
The agenda includes two interactive workshop sessions, allowing attendees to tailor their experience based on their goals, interests and stage in life or career. During each session, participants will choose from two thoughtfully designed workshops, each led by professionals with deep expertise and practical insight.
Session A
• AI Glow-UP – Presented by Andrea Larsen of UFO Performance Marketing, this workshop explores practical applications of artificial Iintelligence to elevate creativity, strategy, and efficiency.
• The ASCEND Method® – Conducted by Elisabeth Galperin of Peak Productivity, this session offers tactical steps to move from busy to truly productive — both professionally and personally.
Session B
• Discover Your PATH (Purpose, Action, Time, Honor) – Led by Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and Adventure
Jill McCarthy of Adventure Bright

• Power Moves – Hosted by Sherry Sims of Black Career Women's Network, this workshop offers bold strategies for building brand visibility and business growth.
In addition to the workshops, the summit will feature a keynote speaker, a panel discussion, a vendor fair highlighting local women-owned businesses, and a special presentation from Katherine Butler-Dines of Women Who Travel Abroad.

the networking jitters at bay, the ConnectHER OTR team plans to incorporate special “spark” questions designed to foster personal and professional connections.
“We’re setting the stage for real conversations,”
Clayton says. “At check-in, you might get a prompt like ‘Find someone holding a coffee and introduce yourself.’ We’ll have table cards that ask things like, ‘What’s something you’re looking for right now — personally or professionally?’”
It’s an approach that reflects a core philosophy of the event: that authentic personal connections often lead to professional breakthroughs. “Women connect differently,” Clayton says. “For us, it’s about making those personal connections that lead to business connections."
For Clayton, this summit is deeply personal. “This is something I wish I had years ago,” she says. “Even now, I struggle with that feeling of not being ‘enough.’ This summit is about challenging that — showing women that they are enough, just as they are.”
Looking ahead, Clayton and Osborne hope to expand ConnectHER OTR and Cincy Girls Who far beyond the fall summit. Monthly lunch hours and evening events like candle making and cooking classes are already drawing crowds — and the groups are making plans to address fast-growing interest.
“It’s about meeting women where they are,” says Clayton. “Whether they can get away at lunch, after work, or just need that moment of connection,”

The mansion was home to generations of prominent Cincinnatians and contains over 800 works of art, featuring Chinese porcelains, American furniture, European decorative arts and major holdings of European and American paintings, including works by artists such as Francisco Goya, John Singer Sargent and James McNeill Whistler. They frequently host changing exhibitions and welcome summer visitors to enjoy The Crafted World of Wharton Esherick on view through September 7. The rarely loaned collection highlights the Pennsylvania artist’s career from his early woodcut illustrations to his revolutionary reimagining of furniture forms as organic sculpture. Admission is free on Sundays and Mondays.
