absolute best. After countless hours of planning what became apparent was that the main fashion item of the fall was going to be the face mask. We know there is still lots of politics around “to Mask or Not to Mask” However, one thing is for sure, if you can wear your mask and help out our neighbors at the same time, Gilbert just is going to step up and wear the mask. We are excited to be a part of #themaskedportraitproject with local photographers. It is a great concept where our lifestyle photography team is providing complimentary family portrait sessions at great locations in turn for donations to our local charities. You are able to get a great family portrait to remember this time, meet amazing lifestyle photographers, and help our favorite charities. If you have a favorite charity simply write out a check to that group and #themaskedportrait project will deliver it. If you would rather just send us your selfies and a small donation that is great as

THE SCIENCE BEHIND WEARING A MASK Originally health officials claimed wearing a mask was unnecessary for those not infected with COVID19, but that changed when scientists discovered people could be infected with and spread the virus without symptoms. Now, the CDC states if 12

masks are widely used when in public, the number of infections would be reduced. The Lancet examined 172 studies on ways to prevent the virus from spreading and found that wearing masks significantly reduced the chance of transmission. When covering the mouth and nose, cloth masks reduce droplet spray when the wearer coughed.

+ Fresh Fruit Always a nice addition to any charcuterie board. Leave grapes in a cluster or serve sliced apples or pears.
Heather Sneed The Bubbly Hostess
CHARCUTERIE BOARDS HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME AND THEY ARE NOW MORE POPULAR THAN EVER. This is my favorite way to present food when entertaining. They are easy, can be prepared ahead, and can scale to the size of your party.
+ Nuts I typically add cashews, pistachios, or almonds to my boards. These make great filler and are easiest to add as a final touch.
The key to a successful and beautiful board is variety. This makes it both visually appealing as well as offers a selection of colors, flavors, and textures for your guests to enjoy. I personally like to put everything on the board versus using small bowls for some ingredients. Either way works! If you opt against bowls, just be sure to first pat dry items such as olives. When planning your board, think about your total guest count and then choose your serving platter. If it’s a large gathering, it may be easier to use several small boards and spread throughout your serving area. Next, start thinking about the types of ingredients you’d like to include and see what looks best (or is on sale!) at the store. To prep for your board, cut what makes sense (see photo captions) into bite-sized pieces and

then start building it. I like to fill in all of the spots on the platter but you could take a more sparing approach as well. I hope you enjoy making your own charcuterie boards - I’d love to see photos! You can visit my site at bubblyhostess.com You can find The Bubbly Hostess on social media as well – I always love new followers. Cheers!

TREND SETTER IT HAS NEVER BEEN MORE CLEAR WHO THE HELPERS ARE IN THIS WORLD THAN RIGHT NOW. Who the people that will make sacrifices for others are. We can see it on their faces, a mask means community. When you step out of your house wearing you mask you’re making a declaration to the world and everyone around you, “I care about you, I hope you care about me.” You also have an opportunity to share a little bit more about your personal style by choosing from many, many super cute mask options. You can choose fun slogans, happy floral prints, sport teams, even political parties. While some people have turned masks into a political opinion, many of us are ready and willing to put the needs of others before ourselves.

We don’t have to be told to wear our masks when shopping for groceries. We have stayed inside, we have cheered for our health care workers, we have begun washing our hands like a religious ceremony. Most importantly, we have put our masks on.

VITAMIN A IS ESSENTIAL TO PROTECTING THE CORNEAS OF OUR EYES. By taking care of your corneas, you can extend the health of your eyesight and reduce vision loss with age. An easy way to remember what to eat for healthy eyes is to look for orange foods. Carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and butternut squash are all high in vitamin A.

Did you know that vitamin A is also imperative for skin health? So while you’re caring for your corneas, you’re also boosting your outer glow. If you want to kick it up a notch, be intentional about eating plenty of foods with omega-3 fatty acids to reduce acne and inflammation and help your skin produce its own collagen. For your healthy fats, go for flax seed, walnuts, chia seeds, and fish.

For soft, flowing tresses, make sure you’re getting an equal amount of B vitamins in your diet. We naturally get plenty of B-6 because it’s in most grains, but it’s easier to end up with a biotin or B-12 deficiency if you don’t pay attention. Focus on foods like salmon, eggs, spinach, and broccoli for a healthy balance of B vitamins for your hair.

EMILY VANCE WITH OVER A DECADE BEHIND THE CAMERA, PHOTOGRAPHER EMILY VANCE PLANTED HER ROOTS IN THE DESERT. After growing up in the ever so rainy Washington state, a short trip to the desert immediately felt like home. Just a few months later, Emily and her husband packed up their belongings and hit the road. The two have been living in the East Valley for two years. Her background in portrait and event work contributed to the creation of The Masked Portrait Project. Emily has always strived to use her talent to give back to the community. She has spent the last two years volunteering as a photographer with Together We Rise, capturing Disney events and adoption days. Emily attended the Art Institute of Seattle and is now finishing up her art degree at Arizona State University. Emily is inspired by natural light and emotion, which can be seen throughout her work. She strives to capture truly special moments in life, whether that be a romantic wedding day or a quiet moment during an in home session. Along with capturing milestones, Emily has had the opportunity to work with several international wedding gown designers. Emily has been featured on Fox 10, Voyage Phoenix, and Overnight Prints. When she is not working, Emily can be found spending time with her husband and dogs, reading mystery novels, and listening to true crime podcasts. emilyvance.com ARTICLE KRISTY BELLEY | PHOTOGRAPHY EMILY VANCE, HENRY AMMANN, TAYLOR BEACH, INGRID PAYNE 32

INGRID PAYNE An artist existing outside of the box. Ingrid is in constant pursuit of visual truths; as an artist, she feels that it is her duty to dissect and transform the world around her, making space to be a vessel and tool for collective healing through art alchemy- the process of transmuting energy into tangible form. Ingrid spends the majority of her time being a mother, but constantly harvesting inspiration and pouring it into her images, most often influenced by things including identity politics, romance, joy, fine art and mundane daily contemplations. She believes that it is important to give moments meaning, finding pleasure even in the most mundane parts of our everyday lives.
HENRY AMMANN Henry Ammann is a Los Angeles based designer & content creator. His years spent working in the music industry have developed his skills in graphic design, web design, marketing, social media, and photography. Henry graduated from the University of Oregon where he spent three years working as an athletic photographer. During his time in college, Henry created the change.org petition urging Nike to create jerseys for the University of Oregon’s women’s basketball team. Nike soon agreed and the change was created and met with great success. Henry received a degree in advertising and currently works as a freelance photographer. ARTIST’S PALETTE (CONTINUED)
TAYLOR BEACH
Representing The Masked Portrait Project in Washington State, Taylor Beach recently began capturing his own series of masked portraits. Along with his partner, Delaney, the two are typically found creating marketing content for various small businesses. When not working, and not in a pandemic, Taylor can be found traveling around the world. Taylor’s other passions include exploring the outdoors, fitness, and music. His work is inspired by light and happiness which can be seen throughout his work. As an artist, Taylor’s goal is to bring the best things in human creativity to light. To expose the hidden beauties in everyday life. The ordinary and extraordinary.
“HIS WORK IS INSPIRED BY LIGHT AND HAPPINESS WHICH CAN BE SEEN THROUGHOUT HIS WORK.”
