A city person is so much more than just a resident of a city. City people look out for each other and are united by a collective sense of community. City people understand that local businesses are part of what makes a neighborhood thrive and go out of their way to show them some love. City people wave at passersby from their balconies and strive to make a positive difference in their communities. City people thrive on the feeling of connecting with the people around them and find opportunities to show that support, even from afar. City people stand together to keep our city strong.

estes park , colorado THERE IS NO BETTER TIME THAN NOW TO ENJOY A “STAYCATION” IN OUR BEAUTIFUL STATE. Year after year, Colorado has been hailed by residents and national organizations alike as an outdoor enthusiast’s dream! A wide array of outdoor activities are available right outside your door. One spot worth checking out during the summer months is Estes Park, a quaint little town located less than two hours outside of Denver. Located at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park, this charming mountain town was founded in 1859. Estes Park is located in Northern Colorado, around 30 minutes outside of Boulder. Tourists flock to this “mountain paradise” at all times of the year to tackle their favorite outdoor adventure or to relax and unwind. Here is a list of popular things to do: 1. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Estes. Kayaks and paddle boats are also available to rent. There are a few boat rental sites available on the shore ready to help you with your water adventure. 2. Catch a free shuttle to Rocky Mountain National Park. Park your car for free at the Estes Park Visitor Center and take a convenient free shuttle to the park. Rocky Mountain National Park is 415 square miles of beautiful trails, mountains, and wildlife. Plan ahead if you are planning to visit this spectacular site. Park entry fees vary, visit nps.gov/romo/ for more information. 3. Take in a round of golf at either of the two golf courses in Estes Park. An 18- hole regulation course and a nine-hole course are open to the public. (winter months included) Rocky Mountain National Park
For more information on Estes Park, visit visitestespark.com. Unique Amenity: Looking to get spooked? Drop by the Stanley Hotel and take a tour of the world famous “haunted hotel” made famous by the movie “The Shining.” Spend the night in this unique hotel and enjoy the popular Night Ghost Tour. Recommended for ages 13 and up. Too scary? Try out any of the charming hotels or camp sites located in the area.

fish in estes Enjoy some peace and quiet while fishing the rivers and lakes in and around Estes Park. Big Thompson River is a popular spot located in Rocky Mountain National Park to catch Browns, Rainbows, Brookies, and the highly sought after Greenback Cutthroat Trout. If you enjoy more solitude, try Mirror Lake in the Northern area of the park. This area is one of the least visited areas of the park and the perfect place to catch some brook trout. Before your fishing trip, remember anyone 16 and older must be licensed to fish in the state of Colorado. You can purchase a license to fish at shops in Estes Park. Make sure to have a valid US picture ID and be ready to provide your social security number when applying for a fishing license.

DenverBased Clean Beauty For Women of Color 20
Downtown Denver Lifestyle | August 2020
1. TELL US ABOUT BLACK TRAVEL BOX. BlackTravelBox® is a premium clean beauty brand for women on the go. We make affordable luxury hair and skincare products, free from harsh chemicals, that last long, and are made specifically for (and by!) Black travelers. 2. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE THIS BEAUTY BRAND? They say that necessity is the mother of invention. Well there is no greater necessity than the “necessities" of travel when you’re far from home. On a not so recent trip to Japan, I found myself thousands of miles from home with a major miscalculation of weather and a head full of hair with no hope. I didn’t have enough product to get me through the trip and there was no place locally I could find the products I needed.

I started BlackTravelBox® to give women of color a brand they could trust for their travel personal care needs. As Black travelers, we have few places we can find products that work for our hair and skincare needs.
Dejected, I avoided the selfies and made the best of it. But upon reflection, I could only hope that someone would make a company to serve travelers like me. I searched and found there were none. So, I created one. I started BlackTravelBox® to give women of color a brand they could trust for their travel personal care needs. As Black travelers, we have few places we can find products that work for our hair and skincare needs.
3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCT? I love the Body Balm. It's rich, emollient, and smells like heaven. We blend Shea and Mango butters to get the perfect balance of moisture sealing oil with a snap-your-finger dry finish. No slick spots, just soft skin. 4. ANY OTHER INFO YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE? We recently launched a Staycation™ Collection of destination inspired candles, capturing the beauty and wonder of travel in a truly “lit at home” experience. We also continue to offer the COVID Relief box, a donation item that allows our customers to give back to frontline workers while supporting BlackTravelBox®. 5. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN DENVER? FAVORITE RESTAURANT? My new favorite lunch spot is NOLA Voodoo Tavern. Really great creole food and wonderful cocktails. I'm a big fan of music so Ophelia's is pretty high on the list as well. Quality Italian is hands down my favorite brunch spot - good music, great staff, and the food is phenomenal. I love to walk around Rino and spot new murals and graffiti - it's relaxing and beautiful. In fact my headshots feature a couple.
