What time is it? Summertime. IT IS HEATING UP, MEDINA COUNTY. Time for all of your favorite summer activities, foods and fashion. Goodbye, clunky layers; hello, breezy dresses and floppy hats. And hello, poolside cocktails—am I right? I love this time of year, as some of my favorite family memories were made during the sun-soaked days of summer. Gulping down kool-aid that stained my lips red while noshing on a freshly-grilled hot dog that had been plopped on a soft white bun and drizzled with a swiggly line of ketchup, feeling the tickle of freshly-cut grass

as it hit my ankles when I ran around barefoot and endlessly strutting around in my tie-dye swimsuit faded from years of swimming until the skin on my fingers and toes had wrinkled are just a few of my fondest summer recollections. Even though we have had a few challenging months as we adapted and persevered through the many challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it's always good to make time for a little fun. And fortunately, summer – and all of its gooey s'mores-filled memories – is a nice reminder of this.

LOCAL FLUTIST ACCEPTED INTO MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS PERFORMANCE SERIES Brunswick middle school student and flutist, Mikayla Raitz, was accepted into the Middle School Honors Performance Series this past spring, becoming one of the top middle schooler musical performers in the world. She, along with around 100 other middle school students from around the world, was selected to rehearse and perform under master conductors at Carnegie Hall this past June. Unfortunately, the performance series was canceled due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. However, the honor of being chosen as one of the most middle school performers in the world is an exceptional accomplishment.

OUR TOWN (CONTINUED)

If you’re considering putting your house on the market, here are a few insider tips from Courtney: 1. Buyers are looking for a home that is truly move-in ready, from trendy paint colors to kitchen, and bathroom updates. We live such fast-paced lives from working to families, most buyers do not have the time to commit to updates. Walking into a home, knowing all they have to do is move-in is extremely important. 2. Buyers love open concept homes, no matter their age. 3. Flat, clean lines with natural tones are becoming more and more popular. 4. Stay away from the color grey; that trend is starting to become less popular. For more information about Courtney and M.C. Real Estate, visit MCRealEstateOhio.com or call them at 330.723.9911.

RENOVATE & REFINE

upgrade and enhance your space THE BASEMENT GUYS CAN HELP GIVE YOU THE BASEMENT OF YOUR DREAMS ARTICLE EMILY SHEA

WITH OVER TWO DECADES OF EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY, THE BASEMENT GUYS, LOCATED IN STOW, OHIO, OFFERS PREMIER SERVICES FOR ALL OF YOUR BASEMENT NEEDS. Every one of their employees is an expert in all things basement-related – basement waterproofing, crawl space encapsulation, basement finishing and foundation repair. Plus, their team has even been awarded the Angie’s List Super Service Award every year since 2014. The Basement Guys offer four main types of services: basement waterproofing, crawl space encapsulation, basement finishing and foundation repair. They also offer free inspections with a no-obligation cost estimate.

1. Basement Waterproofing There are few things that are worse than dealing with a wet or damp basement. Not only does that lead to mold problems, but it’s also a serious red flag for potential buyers if and when you try to sell your home. Fortunately, The Basement Guys offer a plethora of waterproofing products and services, including perimeter drainage systems, doorway drainage systems, wall and floor crack repairs, replacement windows, water heater flood prevention and more. Also, their basement system comes with a lifetime warranty that is transferable to the next owner. 30

Medina County Lifestyle | July 2020

2. Crawl Space Repair The Basement Guys’ crawl space repair services include crawl space encapsulation, dehumidification, insulation, structural repair and space drainage. Some common signs of a problem in your crawl space may include musty odors and poor air quality, buckled hardwood floors, feeling of dampness in the main living area, wood rot and more. And if you’re facing any of these issues, The Basement Guys use a proven crawl space encapsulation service that will effectively control moisture and prevent mold.

3. Basement Finishing The Basement Guys is an authorized installer of the Total Basement Finishing™ System, allowing them to create a clean, dry and beautiful basement where you can enjoy spending time. This system is a complete basement finishing process that is designed to withstand a basement environment, no matter what the climate is near your home. Whether you want to transform your basement into a second living space or an extra bedroom, the Total Basement Finishing™ System includes finished walls, floors, ceilings and more.

4. Foundation Repair Foundation problems can affect your home’s appearance, safety and value. Most of the time, foundation problems look like bowing walls, cracks in the walls and floors, uneven floors and more. Fortunately, The Basement Guys have the knowledge and experience to find the source of the problem and provide you with a quality foundation repair solution. No two foundation repairs are the same and The Basement Guys provide a solution that is custom-designed for your home.
