AND BAUSCHER CONSTRUCTION JOIN FORCES Creative Contracting, Inc. and Bauscher Construction are coming together to bring greater Cincinnati families a remodeling experience that expresses their shared values of care, competence and craftsmanship. The decision to partner was made by two long time friends (Rick Boyle of Creative Contracting and Paul Bauscher of Bauscher Construction) who recognized the similarities of their business models and felt that they would ultimately be more efficient and stronger together. Paul will focus his efforts on business development and training while Rick continues to oversee company operations. They have combined offices and are working out of the Creative Contracting Mason location. Customers will enjoy many benefits from the partnership, "Our design team has additional support, our administrative team is implementing improved project management procedures and we now have increased quality control measures and capabilities," says Rick. LINDNER CENTER OF HOPE LAUNCHES NEW COPING WITH CRISIS PROGRAM Lindner Center of HOPE has launched a new treatment program to aid individuals, age 18 and older, struggling with increased stress and uncertainty caused by the pandemic or other challenges related to the current circumstances. The Coping with Crisis Program offers a brief and affordable therapeutic restart, at the Lindner Center of HOPE’s Sibcy House, to regain control of feelings of anxiety, depression and grief. It can also address increasing misuse of substances or the Internet.

Some level of increased worry, sadness and fear is normal, but some individuals ordinarily capable of managing life’s challenges may be feeling overwhelmed or out of control. This program offers an opportunity for struggling individuals to step away to focus on receiving evidence-based treatment and developing improved coping strategies.

Sibcy House at Lindner Center of HOPE in Mason, Ohio is a specialized and enhanced therapeutic residential environment for adults, 18 and older, suffering with mental illness, addiction or co-morbid conditions.

Discover the Design Difference MASON CITY SCHOOLS OPERATION DIPLOMA DELIVERY Mason City Schools made sure that the Class of 2020 felt extra special with Operation Diploma Delivery in May. Over 200 staff and community members came together to create a personalized #MasonMoment. The Mason City Schools Board of Education, administrative team, teaching staff, and bus drivers wore masks and gloves to personally deliver diplomas to students’ houses. Seniors wore their caps, gowns and cords while receiving their diplomas. Families travel to Florida, the Carolinas and many other places for ocean views and playtime in the sand. On November 10, 2002 an F4 tornado ripped through Van Wert, Ohio. The vintage red barn was leveled at my grandparents’ farm. By the time we visited, the ruins of the barn had been buried. I walked the yard and struggled to get a fix on exactly where the barn had been positioned.

spring I planted a grape vine in my back yard. It became a symbol for me of renewal.

Back in the spring we had one of those hard overnight freezes. The tender tiny leaves on my grape vine did not survive the frost. I feared the vine just might not be able to send out a second set of leaves. As May turned to June, leaves had emerged and tiny grapes were on the vine.

Between the COVID-19 pandemic and the stark realities surrounding the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, it has been easy to find myself feeling somewhat lost. I was out mowing the lawn and passed by my grape vine. Once again it served that function of righting my perspective.

Those tiny grapes stood as a reminder that following challenge and death, with work there comes a season of life, and light, and the promise of a better tomorrow.

More than ever, many are realizing their current home no longer fits their needs. Buying a home can be a big step, especially in an uncertain economic environment, but there are advantages to considering a new home at this time.

“The recent situation has made us see an uptick in serious sellers, who are looking for an offer and ready to move forward,” says Tiffany Allen-Zeuch, a local real estate agent with Sibcy Cline. “At the same time, we’re getting fewer buyers who are ‘shopping casually’ and more who are going through the process with a serious, ready-tobuy attitude. This really creates opportunities on both sides.”

We spoke with some housing professionals to get the scoop on finding your dream home even during a difficult economic time.

WHY BUY OR BUILD NOW?

There are many reasons why this is a good time to look into

buying or building a new home. The process of shopping for homes online or chatting with a real estate agent on the phone or via video conference has never been easier, and once you go to see a home, you can still feel assured of your safety.

“We’ve taken precautions like other businesses by shortening showing appointments and taking only one couple through a home at a time,” says Tiffany. “We make sure to sanitize surfaces. We offer FaceTime tours and other forms of virtual showings, especially for those moving from out-of-town who don’t want to fly in right now.”

While interest rates have been quite competitive even before COVID19, the reductions in interest rates due to market volatility have opened opportunities for those who are considering a new home mortgage.

“While rates do change every day, and they depend on your credit score and type of loan, we are definitely seeing some low rates,” says Tiffany. “It’s a great time to buy because you get to buy more house with your budget.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF FINDING HOME

Many local communities feature neighborhoods by various build-

ers which appeals to people who are interested in the valuable features that planned living can provide.

“My family and I have experienced something very unique during this pandemic which has proven to be a very challenging time for many,” says Randy Terry, Developer at Carriage Hill. “With the stayat-home order we truly realize the importance of home, family and friends. I’m seeing many more of my neighbors out for a leisure walk, pet gatherings, families picnicking at the pond, kids riding bikes and everyone fishing the stocked ponds.”

“We have many grandparents that move into the same community as their grandchildren, and we have adults moving to where their own parents live to provide some in-home care,” says Randy. “This has proven to be one of those times when the ability to be close to your family is of real value.”

There are many ways in which the current market may have prompted you

to start looking at buying or building a home. Maybe you’ve realized that you want a new layout in your home, a bigger yard for a new dog or want to be in a different type of neighborhood. Tiffany suggests that the best way to get started is to talk to an agent.

“Talk through your needs, wants and desires with a real estate agent to get a realistic expectation of this local marketplace during this particular time,” says Tiffany. “You can get your pre-approval to see what you can afford, and talking to an agent can help.” For instance, first-time homebuyers can be prepared for the various steps in the process. Our housing professionals continue to work for a strong year in the housing market, and they have reasons to continue to be optimistic.

“With people cleaning out their homes, painting and doing repairs, I anticipate a lot of nice inventory going into the third quarter,” says Tiffany. “The challenge we’re facing is to continue selling and buying in a safe and healthy manner, but we’re still in the same world where people may need to buy, whether you’re just starting out, getting married, having children, or any other life events and stages.”
