ORIGINALLY HAILING FROM PITTSBURGH, CINDI WILEY COMES FROM A FAMILY WHO OWNED A NUMBER OF GROCERY STORES GROWING UP, AND SHE SAW FIRSTHAND WHAT IT TOOK TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. However, she never thought that one day she herself would be part owner and running a successful business in Colorado. In 2019, Cindi, her husband Bob Wiley and head distiller Dave Gade opened Deviation Distilling in Denver’s Santa Fe Arts District. With stunningly beautiful bottles and unique ingredients like Thai basil and Szechuan peppercorns, Deviation Distilling has become the destination for approachable gins and one-of-a-kind cocktails. Deviation’s flagship products include three unique gins: Mountain Herb, Citrus Rosé and Spice Trade. Leveraging her degree in graphic design, Cindi spearheads the design of the award-winning bottles, which won the 2019 Gold Medal for Excellence in Packaging Brand Identity from the American Distilling Institute. Leveraging her love of spirits, she loves developing cocktails for the lounge, which currently include a Thai Gin Paloma, Give it a Chai and Pomegranate Sour. Meanwhile, they have developed an entirely new line of coffee-inspired whiskies under the Deviation umbrella, Barista Spirits, while Bob is constantly working on their distribution strategy. Deviation is currently available throughout Colorado as well as five other states and hopes to add a few more states in 2021. Cindi lives south of Denver with Bob and her two children: Ava, 17 and Nick, 14. In the little free time she has, she loves hiking with her dogs and skiing with her family.

RED, WHITE AND BLUE DECORATE YOUR HOME WITH THE COLORS OF INDEPENDENCE

ARTICLE EIMEAR MCNICHOLAS PHOTOGRAPHY GREG MOLONY

WHERE DOES A NEWLY NATURALIZED CITIZEN, CIRCA 2012, DRAW HER DESIGN INSPO FOR THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE? I love July 4th! Maybe because I feel like I’m playing catch up for all the years I missed out, or because like any Irish immigrant, any day to celebrate independence from Britain is a good day for me! Just like all Americans are Irish on St. Pats Day, we Irish American citizens love this holiday. For me, celebrating America goes hand in hand with America’s national past time…baseball. I’m a believer in drawing inspiration from what is around me, and in our house, that means sports and in particular, baseball memorabilia. I turned my hurricane lamps into baseball flower arrangements and my Michaels shelving is sporting a stars and stripes baseball wreath!

THIS MAGNIFICENT OUTDOOR SPACE WAS ENVISIONED BY THE HOMEOWNER AS A PLACE THEY COULD ENTERTAIN AND HIS GRANDCHILDREN COULD PLAY. They’ve owned the home since 2006, but the stamped concrete pool deck was cracked and the pool’s mechanical system needed to be replaced. They also wanted to update the aesthetic to something modern and clean. They called on Elite Landscape & Outdoor Living for help. Instead of scrapping everything, the Elite team was able to upgrade the backyard with a sleek renovation. The pool was recovered in new plaster, and water features added, along with the replacement of the mechanics. A stand alone grill was replaced with a built-in kitchen. For the pool deck, the homeowner originally had concrete pavers in mind but once he caught sight of the Belgard Porcelain pavers, he decided to upgrade, which is definitely a highlight of this project. Typically pool decks consist of concrete pavers or stamped concrete, but as the homeowner had already found, it commonly cracks and needs frequent maintenance.

Quarziti is a stone that incorporates a shading effect to recreate an authentic diversity of natural elements. The modular shapes offer exquisite design and flexibility. These porcelain pavers extend all the way in towards the house, overlaying the existing concrete patio with this beautiful stone. The homeowners only regret, “I wished that we would have made the changes even sooner.” He did his research and Peter and the Elite team received glowing reviews. “Meet with the team you choose and check their references. Peter has an attention to detail and works with you to bring out the best.” denverelitelandscaping.com

Porcelain pavers offer a contemporary look for outdoor living spaces. Thicker and more durable than porcelain tiles, they’re a great choice for pool decks as they are frost-resistant, skid-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to clean.
