are also very lucky to have gems right here in Henderson. It’s easy to find a delicious breakfast or brunch place to get a great start to our day, although I recommend making reservations in advance in order to avoid waiting in line. My wife and I recently went to The Stove for Sunday Brunch. The view from the second floor is fabulous; we could see the entire valley. The atmosphere on a Sunday morning is lively, to put it mildly, as the waiters walk around and use a water gun to shoot champagne directly in customers’ mouths. They have a great variety of dishes on the menu, complete with regular and vegan options. Another local weekend hotspot is CRAFTkitchen. This restaurant has great food, fantastic service, and a private room for larger parties. CRAFTkitchen does not take reservations, but you can put yourself on a waitlist on Yelp and they will give you an estimated time so you can conveniently wait for your spot in the comfort of your own home. Clark County’s first and only winery to date. Sample Nevada-made wines in a tasting or by the glass, and savor pairings with charcuteries and locally hand-crafted chocolates. Be sure to ask for a tour of the winery too, you’ll be warmly welcomed and gain a greater understanding about the journey from vine to wine. You may even find yourself getting involved in making a barrel. There are other opportunities to experience the charm of Grape Expectations and Vegas Valley Winery with events like yoga and wine, painting parties, VGK game night specials, and wine education. You can even host an event of your own in their venue. It’s a great place to keep in mind for the holiday celebrations coming soon, especially since supporting local businesses has meant more than ever this past year. Patty and Mike are beyond grateful to their winery family, “The Cork Squad,” for the support they have received. Their generosity literally meant survival as the pandemic drastically reduced business to the point where they were wondering if they could move forward. They are thankful from the bottom of their hearts and with continued support have high hopes of being an integral part of the community for years to come.

RENOVATE & REFINE (CONTINUED) + When it comes to countertops light colored marble, granite, quartz, and contemporary concrete continue to be the most popular and durable for today’s busy kitchens. Carrying the kitchen cabinetry and countertops into the adjacent laundry room, mud room or command center adds a seamless look. Islands add additional space to eat, gather, and work. + Homeowners are also looking to add personal touches. A small painting leaning against the countertop wall, a favorite family photo framed on the counter, or a handsome desk lamp on the island add warmth and style. As we continue to spend more time at home, keep notice of what works for you and your family in addition to what is trending in kitchen renovation and design. When it comes to inspiration for creating experiences around food and your community, as well as creating travel bucket lists to some of the world’s most unique and delicious destinations off the beaten path, Chef ‘Dennis The Prescott ’ is a culinary change maker whose feed you’ll want to feast on. Host for two seasons of the show, Dennis and his two food and design co-hosts travel the world to revive failing restaurants by connecting them to the local culture. Filming included

T r avel R ecom mend at ion s for Food ies “Slovenia borders Italy and Croatia, which is to say there are a lot of shared values in and around food; they have really great cheese, dairy, beef, pasta, but very few tourists, hardly any. So if you love Italy, that kind of specific travel and food experience, particularly Northern Italy, because you can see the Alps from where they are. It’s picture perfect, a beautiful place, and also where orange wine is from.” Dennis also highly recommends Costa Rica, Hawaii and Finland. “Most people love the idea of travel, but we tend to pick the same places when we travel, and there is nothing wrong with that, they are amazing for a reason, but when you get off the beaten path a little bit, you learn the difference between vacation and travel.” In addition to travels, Dennis is a huge advocate for supporting local businesses and the connection grilling in your own backyard can make. “Grilling is inherently communal. You talk to your neighbors, they smell it, they ask you what you’re cooking; the whole act of it is a community. One of the most common fears Dennis hears from people cooking and/or grilling at home is, ‘where do I start?’ Dennis recommends cooking the things that bring you joy — things that are on a restaurant menu you can’t NOT order because you’re so pumped that those dishes are on there. “Find the things that you love. Take the stress out of food. Feed people because all they really care about is spending time with you. Bring joy back into the kitchen.” CityLifestyle.com/Henderson
