LIFESTYLE LETTER

Happy 2024 Neighbors! For many of us, this time of year is full of excitement. It presents us with a reset, new horizons and goals to pursue. But for others, January can be a reminder of failed attempts from years past and the burden of expectation that this year will be different. We approached this issue of Gulf Coast City Lifestyle from a mindset of not supplying quick fixes to check boxes in the short term but valuing what is sustainable over the long haul. We wanted to provide inspiration for making lasting, realistic, long-term improvements to your physical, emotional and mental health. When it comes to anything in life - business, finance, food, home and personal health – it’s not what you do some days that moves the needle - it’s what you do MOST days. For better or worse! For instance, taking a vacation every day would be financially and practically unfeasible, but taking a trip a few times a year is doable. Having a beautiful steak dinner with a few cocktails and créme brûlée every night for dinner isn’t best for your health, but doing so once in a while might be fine. It’s not the sometimes choices we make, it’s the most of the time choices. So plan the vacation AND work to establish more regular rest in your work week. Join a fitness community or cross-fit AND enjoy the treats you’ve been wanting to try at Kilwins. It’s not what you do some days - it’s what you do most days that will lead to a more peaceful, filling and fabulous year. Here’s to you in 2024! We are rooting for you. Love local, live local, and spend locally. Until next month...

From melasma and pigmentation issues to skin rejuvenation, scarring, and even tattoo removal, PicoSure has become the go-to solution for safe and successful treatments. To enhance the power of PicoSure, they have combined the treatment with their RF-Microneedling device, Potenza, to create

a ground breaking treatment protocol called Cynoglow. This innovative approach targets anti-aging and sun-damaged skin, providing remarkable results. Additionally, they offer Chemical Peels as an excellent complement to PicoSure laser treatments, delivering even skin tone, brightness, and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. For those with acne-prone skin, Baldwin GYN & Aesthetics’ Carbon Laser Peel is a recommended option. PicoSure’s photo-mechanical

mode of action sets it apart, making it the preferred laser for treating melasma. In fact, it is the only laser FDA-approved for the treatment and maintenance of this specific condition. But let’s not forget PicoSure’s unmatched reputation in the field of tattoo removal. As the leading laser for ink tattoo removal or revision, PicoSure has transformed the lives of many. You may be wondering about the discomfort and downtime associated with PicoSure treatments. Dr. Corbett and her team offer topical numbing with lidocaine to minimize any potential discomfort. They also have a cooling device to further enhance comfort during the procedure with little to no downtime. Contact Baldwin GYN & Aesthetics today and begin your skin transformation journey!

Coastal Family Eyecare HARNESSING TECHNOLOGY FOR EFFECTIVE DRY EYE TREATMENT

Dry eyes can be a frustrating and uncomfortable condition, but thanks to advancements in technology, relief is now within reach. At Coastal Family Eyecare, Dr. Clare Wilder, OD, and her expert team are at the forefront of dry eye treatment, offering a specialized dry eye clinic and the latest cutting-edge technology. Through their dedication and the use of innovative techniques, they are providing hope for patients suffering from previously untreatable dry eye symptoms. One such breakthrough technology is Optilight IPL, which has shown promising results in managing dry eyes by targeting inflammation, the root cause of the condition. In recent years, research has greatly expanded our knowledge of ocular surface disease, particularly dry eyes. It has become evident that inflammation plays a significant role in the development and progression of this condition. Coastal Family Eyecare recognizes the importance of addressing this underlying inflammation to effectively treat dry eyes and improve patients’ quality of life. To create personalized treatment plans, Coastal Family Eyecare utilizes state-of-the-art technology to assess patients’ dry eye condition comprehensively. By testing for inflammatory markers, taking infrared images of the ocular surface, and evaluating tear volume and quality, Dr. Wilder and her team gain crucial insights into each patient’s unique needs. This detailed approach allows them to tailor treatment strategies that specifically target the root cause of dry eyes. Dr. Wilder has been utilizing this technology since March 2023, with her patients reporting significant improvements in both the appearance of their eyes and their dry eye symptoms.

Optilight IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light therapy, utilizes powerful light energy to target and reduce inflammation in the meibomian glands, which are responsible for producing the oily layer of tears. By reducing inflammation in these glands, the treatment improves the quality and quantity of tears, providing much-needed relief for patients suffering from dry eyes. The advantages of Optilight IPL for dry eye treatment are numerous. Firstly, the treatment is non-invasive and virtually painless, providing a comfortable experience for patients. Secondly, it effectively addresses the root cause of dry eyes by reducing inflammation, leading to long-lasting relief. Additionally, the treatment is quick, with sessions typically lasting around 20 minutes, allowing patients to conveniently fit it into their busy schedules. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Wilder, Coastal Family Eyecare has witnessed incredible success in managing dry eyes using Optilight IPL technology. Patients have reported significant improvements in their dry eye symptoms, including reduced redness, irritation, and discomfort. Furthermore, the appearance of their eyes has visibly improved, restoring confidence and overall eye health. Dry eyes no longer have to be an untreatable condition. With the expertise of Dr. Clare Wilder and her team at Coastal Family Eyecare, relief is now within reach. By targeting inflammation, the root cause of dry eyes, this innovative treatment is transforming the lives of patients, providing lasting relief and improving overall eye health. If you’re tired of living with dry eyes, it’s time to explore the possibilities that technology and expert care can offer.
