The Women's Issue

Our May issue is dedicated to celebrating the women in our lives. As I reflect on the many women in my life, I am thankful for each one and the impact they have made. One of the best qualities a woman can possess is having confidence with oneself, but at the same time, being able to see the beauty and talent in other women and call out the greatness within them too. Women celebrating women and encouraging each other to succeed rather than competing with each other is so beautiful and rewarding.
Encouraging and empowering the people in our own life can be something that comes naturally to do, but the impact of intentionally looking for ways to build up those in our greater community is so powerful. We all want to be seen, and when we share encouragement and consideration to those around us, barriers break down and warmth follows.
In a world that thrives on competition, let’s take time to encourage each other, appreciate the beauty in everyone and lift each other up, perhaps, even a stranger. I also encourage you to take time to reflect on the inspirational women in your own life, and reach out to them to thank them for their impact on your life. You won’t regret it.
As Coco Chanel once said, ”Elegance is when the inside is as beautiful as the outside.”
This issue is dedicated to my French mother. She raised me to be caring and independent. Merci for being mine.
Thank you for inviting us into your home and lives, we can’t wait to see you around town.
Love local, live local, and spend locally,
Until next month…..

We wanted to share with you 5 awe-inspiring local women who are not only top-notch professionals in their field and dominating the business world, but women who are mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, friends, and so much more. We are pleased to present:
Janet Baker is a Registered Nurse who specializes in Functional Medicine and Weight Management. She has been in the medical field since 1995 and began her career in nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. When her father was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 81, she was challenged to look outside of traditional medicine to help continue his life without pain or surgery. Over the last 9 years, she has worked in Integrative and Functional medicine. With a passion for improving metabolism naturally and helping the body to heal itself with the proper nutrients that it requires, she enjoys networking and collaborating with other like-minded practitioners in the area to promote the practice of functional medicine and well-being. As 2023 progresses she and her team look forward to expanding their services to include Chiropractics, Massage, Acupuncture, & Pilates.

Stacy Davis has kept true to her roots in providing old-fashioned service and developing quality relationships with her customers. Since her high school and college days, she worked for chains and then transitioned into independent pharmacies. She didn’t know going into Pharmacology that she would end up owning two locally loved and very much needed establishments, but she did. “This all just kind of happened and things fell into place. I learned to trust what was happening and where I was being led and I’m glad I did.” Davis says “I’m married with four children and we love our community. I knew when the opportunity came up to purchase the now Gulf Shores Family Pharmacy with the Soda Fountain, that I had to do it. We are passionate about old-fashioned care and service. Slowing down and creating relationships with the people we serve. While we do combine the use of modern technology, we haven’t lost touch with what’s most important and that’s the people we care for.” When Davis isn’t working, she’s soaking up the sun with her family and enjoying the great outdoors. She says “Don’t set limits on yourself. Setting a goal and believing that you can reach that goal is important. You CAN do anything that you truly want to and set your mind to do.” We agree Stacy, we certainly agree.

Ashley Hendren is making her mark in our local area. As an experienced attorney with over 26 years in the field ranging from civil to criminal legal matters, she knows what it takes to get the job done. Establishing a practice in Alabama after having a well-known and established practice in Mississippi has been a goal she has worked tirelessly to achieve. With those results coming to fruition, she and her team are looking forward to serving those along The Gulf Coast. Hendren knows that the legal system and actions can sometimes be overwhelming. Being fluent and dedicated to helping her clients learn a language that often feels overwhelming or intimidating is what she is known for. Through her years of experience and understanding of procedures she and her team are committed to creating pathways that lead to successful outcomes. Ashley and her husband are celebrating 25 years of marriage and two children, she and her family are proud to call our area home. When Ashley isn’t in the courtroom she enjoys spending her time with family and friends in outdoor activities. Ashley says “ One of my favorite quotes and one that I feel best describes me and how I approach my professional life as well as the way I encourage others to approach their professional lives is from Ayn Rand who is quoted saying: The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”
“Behind Every Successful Woman Is A Tribe Of Other Successful Women Who Have Her Back.”

Dr. Christen Quattlebaum Payne is a woman, mother, and business owner. “I always knew I wanted to be a doctor, I just wasn’t sure what type. As the years in college progressed and I had my son, I started to lean toward dentistry. I felt that it would allow me to be more family oriented. My grandfather was a dentist but had passed before I decided to head in that direction. I always loved science, the human body, I was artistic and creative and dentistry has allowed me to use all of these things in my daily practice. Helping people feel better when they are in pain and gain confidence in their smiles is a bonus on top of it all.” She says “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4”
Dr. Lauren Lee enjoys treating her patients and knows that dentistry doesn’t have to be a scary experience. With her all-female staff, they work hard to treat each patient like family and make the experience of dentistry like no other. “We always strive to put your needs first and ensure that you are comfortable and well-informed. We work with our patients closely to develop a comprehensive and sustainable treatment plan that takes your overall health and goals into consideration.” Dothan raised and Alabama native, Dr. Lee and her husband are welcoming their first child. This Mother’s Day is sure to be extra special for her. When we asked her for words of wisdom for women in today’s world she said “Have confidence in yourself and learn to lean in.” We couldn’t agree more Dr. Lee. We here at Gulf Coast City Lifestyle and our readers are wishing you the very best and most heartfelt Congratulations & well wishes this Mother’s Day.

“I had rotator cuff surgery and am going through Physical Therapy at Encore to rehab my shoulder. This is my second time receiving rehab with Encore, and after the great experience the first time, I knew Encore was where I needed to be for my shoulder rehab. I play tennis, and my personal goal was to hit the tennis ball again by month six, but because of the excellent rehab by Tina and Shay, I achieved that goal early by almost two months! I would highly recommend Encore Rehabilitation-Orange Beach to anyone needing Physical Therapy!”
