LIBBY FOLLIS LIKES TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING EACH MORNING. In addition to co-owning a business and being a top producing real estate agent, she is also an avid volunteer. However, she knows she can’t do it all alone. “I love the synergy in working with a partner, whether it’s design, in real estate, or volunteerism,” she says. “I feel energy, creativity and passion when I’m working with another person. I’m not a loner.” Her partner in her interior design business, Gifted Interiors, is Drew Ebbing; with Higbie Maxon Agney Realtors, it’s Dennis Andrus; and for volunteering, it’s her family. “I get tremendous support from my family. Her family’s passion is raising money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York through a unique and fun fundraising vehicle called Cycle for Survival. “We get on bikes in Equinox Gyms and ride with teams of people to support rare cancer research,” says Libby. “Our family has been affected by a couple of rare cancers and Memorial Sloan Kettering has worked miracles. Our family is healthy because of them.” Her advice for other busy women and for those looking to fulfill their dreams: “Find something you love and have enthusiasm and passion for what you do. Have a vision and excitement for that vision.”

SPEAKER, AND MENTOR, DR. MARY SUE STONISCH HAS

PRETTY MUCH ACCOMPLISHED IT ALL. Mary Sue opened her dental practice in 1987 and this July, Smile Studio will be celebrating its 35th year. Mary Sue is accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry as one of only 36 women in the world and accredited with the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics as one of the first dentists in Southeastern Michigan to specialize in aesthetic dentistry. Mary Sue is the author of the book Smile Fitness and is recognized as

a top doctor in the dental field. Mary Sue is also a mentor with the prestigious Kois Dental Center and Engel Implant Institute. Mary Sue enjoys mentoring other women. She mentors many women inside and outside of the dental profession and has quite a few mentors herself. When she graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, only a small percentage were women. Today, more than 50 percent of dentistry graduates are women. She believes that mentoring is a strong support system. “Women serving women is a beautiful concept.” Mary Sue feels that these relationships allow them to see how other women handle their multi-faceted roles in society. “Women carry a different burden.” She feels that it’s important that they understand this burden and how to handle it. Mary Sue lectures young women around the world. Her sage words of advice to other women are to “work for your dreams.” Mary Sue believes that hard work and important choices led her to her success. She quotes Estee Lauder “I never dreamed about success. I worked for it.” and Elenor Roosevelt,

One of the things she loves to do is volunteer. She founded an organization in 2016 with other local women called Phoemale (pronounced female). Its goal is to give women who are having a hard time a hand up in life and not just a hand out; every single dollar raised goes directly to help these women transition to a better life. Giving is specific to each woman. One woman received a car, one had her college tuition paid, and another was helped with home repairs. “We are women supporting women and our focus is on survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and homelessness,” says Jenelle. “We do this by becoming sister agencies with other charities who are already helping these women and doing things that other charities cannot do.”

M AU R E E N JUIP PEOPLE WHO KNOW MAUREEN JUIP, A MEMBER OF THE GROSSE POINTE CITY COUNCIL, WONDER HOW SHE ACCOMPLISHES SO MUCH.
