This is my favorite edition of the year! Why, you ask? Because it's the most pure, the most innocent and the most unconditional. It seems like in today's world everything is conditional. I spent a lot of years in sales and the one statement I've always found to be true is: "What have you done for me lately?" Now I don't want to roll off into some negative rant but sometimes it's necessary to point out the valleys to recognize the peaks. Every day I see it all around me, the conditional love that accompanies most everything we do. A spouse or partner's love can diminish if they don't feel provided for. An employer is only as loyal as the last month's production and a friend may only be as accessible as their personal needs require; but a child or a pet?
As I write this, the most recent example of a child's love is this past Father's Day. Now I never really expect much for Father's Day. It's always kind of been that overlooked holiday in a lot of ways but not this year. This year my two son's collaborated with my mom and made all kinds of plans. They obviously thought very hard about what I would like and they executed. What that plan was is irrelevant but what they said touched me deeply. As they showered me with love and affection this year, my obvious response was "This is too much, you guys didn't have to do this." To which both of them in their own way replied, "Dad, you do so much for everyone around you and never ask for anything, you deserve it."
My eyes still well up every time I think about it. I look back over their lives and recall so many times that I walked in the door and their faces lit up. They couldn't wait to play with me, to throw a ball or to build something together. They never judged me for my shortcomings; they were simply thrilled to see me.
Then there's my dog. It doesn't matter what kind of mood I'm in or how long I've been gone. The minute I walk in the door, that tail is wagging. He's a big part of my life, but it's obvious that I'm his entire life. This is the kind of unconditional love that hits hard.

Sauer Dentistry Highlights How Childhood Dental Care Builds Lifelong Habits And Glowing Grins
ARTICLE BY ALLYSON (ALLY) STRACZEK
As parents and accomplished dentists, Aaron Sauer, DDS, and Whitney Marsh, DMD, of Sauer Dentistry understand the importance of kids' dental health and working with families to establish dental routines and preventive care.
“Introducing children to the dental office at a young age helps them become more comfortable, build good habits and catch dental problems early on,” explains Dr. Sauer. “Preventive care is crucial for developing teeth. It can help minimize dental cavities and prevent tooth loss, as well as address speech impediments and malocclusions.”
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that children start seeing a dentist as soon as they have teeth, or no later than 1 year of age.
Dr. Sauer says, “Dental visits become less intimidating when kids start early. Children who become familiar with the dental environment from an early age are often more comfortable and cooperative during future appointments, reducing anxiety and fear.”
When children visit the dentist at a young age, the sights, sounds, smells and routines of the office become familiar rather than mysterious. “Repeated positive interactions with dental professionals help children develop confidence that the people caring for them are safe, predictable and supportive," adds Dr. Marsh. "Early visits often involve simple, noninvasive experiences like counting teeth, taking pictures and learning how to brush. These early visits create a foundation for kids.”
Both dentists work with parents to establish healthy eating patterns from the beginning and limit exposure to sugary foods and drinks. Dr. Marsh also educates parents to encourage kids to drink water between meals rather than juice or other sugary beverages, and to avoid letting children fall asleep with bottles containing milk, juice or other sugar-based liquids.
“We want parents to make brushing part of predictable morning and bedtime routines,” instructs Dr. Sauer. “Begin cleaning an infant's gums with a soft, damp cloth even before teeth erupt. Then, once the first tooth appears, use a soft-bristle toothbrush and smear a rice-grain-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste onto it. For kids aged 3-6, increase to a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. Until kids develop good dexterity, it’s important for parents to check their brushing to ensure it's done well. We also encourage parents to teach kids to spit and not swallow the toothpaste to support appropriate fluoride use while helping them become more independent with oral hygiene.”
Parents can help establish brushing as less of a chore and more of a routine by choosing a special toothbrush, using kid-friendly toothpaste, offering incentives to build healthy habits and staying positive.
Sauer Dentistry in Greenwood is a family dental office providing state-of-the-art technology for general and cosmetic dental services. General dental procedures cover routine check-ups, cleaning and fillings, while more advanced procedures such as crowns, bridges, root canals and extractions also are available. Cosmetic dental options feature veneers and Invisalign.

“Tooth decay is preventable. Regular checkups, fluoride guidance and dietary counseling reduce children’s risk for a common, chronic childhood disease," explains Dr. Sauer.

DOGTOPIA
TEAM PROVIDES CANINE SPA SERVICES, GROOMING, SAFE SOCIALIZATION, OPEN PLAYROOMS IN DOGGONE BENEFICIAL WAYS
ARTICLE BY JULIE BROWN PATTON
Dog daycare can provide an enriching environment filled with new sights and well-balanced activities that keep dogs mentally engaged and happy. The Dogtopia of Greenwood team says they separate pups by their size, temperament and play style, so they’re around others that match their energy and playtime vibe. In fact, this Greenwood team of dog professionals recently extended their services by adding a fourth room dedicated solely to the smallest of pups.
"Our canine coaches supervise and encourage fun, safe play throughout the day, and we love incorporating activities like agility exercises, bubble parties and photoshoots to keep daycare new and exciting," says Nick Weadick, Dogtopia of Greenwood co-owner along with certified canine trainer and co-owner Jennifer "Jen" Mutz.

"DOGTOPIA DOGS LEARN SOCIAL CUES AND DOGGIE MANNERS.
SOCIALIZING WITH LIKE-MINDED DOGS HELPS THEM ALL BE GOOD CANINE CITIZENS."

Jen says consistent dog daycare builds a canine's confidence, which nurtures and creates relaxed, fear-free dogs who know how to behave in public. She highlights the new training program they've also added at the facility, which teaches dogs how to better self-regulate and have more body awareness.
"We also provide beneficial, structured exercise during stays. Logging an average of 30,000 steps while in daycare improves dogs' mental and physical health, making them perfect companions," Jen adds.
Additionally, Dogtopia’s dog spa services include spa baths, brush-outs, ear cleaning, toothbrushing, nail trims and other grooming options. To continue hygiene at home, the company also sells helpful products, such as deodorizer sprays, ear care products and skin balms.
Pet parents appreciate Dogtopia's state-of-the-art facility with live webcam access, report cards, regular updates, consistent schedules, wellness routines and no-fuss billing. Jen says peace of mind knowing dogs are safe and having fun is paramount.
Dogtopia's canine coaches complete a custom curriculum accredited by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT).

Essentially, Dogtopia's unique, overall program is based on three foundational principles: dog socialization, exercise and education. They also are concerned about each dog's wellness. Their facility uses certified, pet-safe cleaning protocols and enforces strict vaccination and temperament evaluation requirements for all dogs. Nick says their special rubberized flooring in the climate-controlled playrooms aids in dogs' long-term joint health. "The supervised brain games also improve dogs' behaviors and manners," he adds.
Jen agrees: "Dogs that come to us, especially those who participate in our training, learn how to behave in social situations and be more comfortable around new dogs and new people. We're all about building focus, confidence and consistency."
"We're way more than just a place while pet parents are away from home. We transformed traditional kennel-style boarding into an active, social and educational experience," states Nick and Jen.

Primrose School Of Greenwood Staff Uses Research-Informed, Teacher-Guided, Proprietary Balanced Learning Curriculum
ARTICLE BY JULIE BROWN PATTON
Early childhood education plays a vital, long-term role in providing a strong foundation for later academic, social and emotional growth, asserts Jessica Schmollinger, Primrose School of Greenwood franchise owner.
"That's another reason why we're expanding our services," Jessica adds, citing that they recently added a Toddler 3 classroom and a transitional kindergarten program to provide hands-on, engaging learning that's full of discovery.
She says the TK Program starts by building a math foundation through interactive whole group lessons. “We explore numbers together using tools that help children visualize counting and number relationships that build confidence in early addition and subtraction.”
Jessica says they then show students through games, movement and real-life examples how to understand how numbers work together, especially to increase problem-solving skills.
"We also nurture a love for reading by focusing on letter recognition, sounds and early phonics skills. Students practice blending letter sounds together, which is an important step for self-assured readers," she explains.
Primrose students are introduced to foundational STAR reading strategies that support early success in literacy by recognizing patterns and sounds to build simple words.
"Every TK Program lesson is designed to be interactive and developmentally appropriate so that curiosity, creativity and confidence is encouraged," says Jessica.
Parents of Primrose students also recognize the extended "family culture" present at the school, led by teachers who make them feel they belong.

The Gandhi Family stated their experience at Primrose School of Greenwood has been nothing short of wonderful: "The teachers and staff create an environment where children feel safe, supported and excited to learn. They've become such an important part of our lives. From the cheerful greetings in the morning to the thoughtful learning activities throughout the day, we see how much love and effort goes into making this school feel like a second home. For our daughter, Mishka, Primrose has been a place where she has blossomed. She has learned to show leadership traits, build meaningful relationships with her teachers, make friends with confidence,

and has come a long way in her cognitive development. Watching her grow into a curious, kind and capable little girl has been one of our greatest joys — and we know Primrose played a huge role in that journey. The Primrose team puts their hearts into everything they do, and we’re grateful to be part of this community. We couldn’t imagine a better place for Mishka to grow."
Primrose is an all-around incredible establishment, stated the Miner family: "It's a clean, welcoming facility, with a happy and caring staff and wonderful curriculum. I cried touring daycares when my son was born. I was terrified to leave him with strangers who didn’t love him like I did, but when we found Primrose all those worries disappeared. Now he's in EPS, and my daughter is in the infant room, and I'm still so incredibly lucky to have found a place that treats me and my children like family."
Key benefits of solid early childhood education programs are preparation for entering kindergarten while teaching children to reason by incorporating problem-solving tasks and to develop critical thinking skills. Effective childhood education also encourages children to explore their surroundings, which fosters curiosity. Imaginative play, such as pretending to be in a specific career, allows a child to exercise creativity and develop imagination.
Jessica verifies that young students often learn best when they're involved in different forms of play, including activities involving sensory components, art projects and science experiments; storytelling, reading, music and dance to develop motor skills, rhythm and self-expression; group projects and collaborative activities to develop cooperation and teamwork; and exploring new cultures and languages to introduce different customs and perspectives to broaden their understanding of the world.
Every Primrose staff member undergoes a thorough background check before joining the school, she adds. "Plus, all staff are also CPR and first–aid certified, so parents and guardians can feel confident their child is in safe, prepared hands every day."

"I really enjoyed how welcoming Primrose was upon just entering the building. It seemed like everyone loved to be there. The facility looked and smelled cleaned, which I know may be strange to say, but some places aren't always like that. Also, Ashlea was great and provided us with all the information we needed, as well as after the tour addressing questions we could've even had in the future. Overall, it was a pleasure and I'm excited to get my child started here," states the Duran Family.
Primrose Schools is a national system of accredited private preschools, which is recognized as a top U.S. child care service provider.

As temperatures rise, children race to the freezer for this frosty treat or wait anxiously for the approach of the musical ice cream truck. Making homemade popsicles is a fun, kidfriendly activity. These recipes feature kid-favorite flavors with an added taste twist. The only tricky part is waiting for them to freeze.

Trey Kennedy makes a living finding comedy in regular life. Marriage. Toddlers. Yoga pants. The Thursday-night scramble between school dropoffs, soccer practice, and whatever has to be done by morning. Twelve years in, it shows: millions of followers across every platform, three stand-up specials, a sold-out Relatable Tour, and a style of humor fans send each other captioned, “Are you watching me?” He delivers the kind of comedy that travels because everyone’s living some version of it.
Katie, his wife of six years, is a former biomedical engineer who also built a modeling career. She’s now raising their kids and co-hosting Correct Opinions alongside Trey — the show where the two of them swap takes on marriage, parenting, and whatever came up that week.
Trey has been at this longer than people realize. An Edmond, Oklahoma kid who grew up playing basketball described himself as a “shy kid who never thought he’d be an entertainer.” He started making videos while attending Oklahoma State University. After building millions of followers on Vine before the platform shut down, he gave himself six months on Instagram and Facebook to see whether he could rebuild from zero. He did. Stand-up soon followed. His first special, Are You For Real?, streams on YouTube; the second, Grow Up, on Amazon Prime; the third, built around the Relatable Tour, wrapped earlier this year. “I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now,” he says. A slow climb, made one bit at a time.

ARTICLE BY KALI KASPRZYK
“I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now.”
Most of what Trey writes lately starts in his own kitchen. Thomas is three and a half, and he is, in his father’s words, “a movie.” He narrates his own life from the moment his eyes open and mispronounces words in ways his parents now repeat to each other because no one else would believe them. His younger sister, Eva, is what Katie calls “the calm one.” With a third now in the mix, the Kennedys are officially outnumbered.
After six years of marriage, Trey and Katie have learned that the partnership runs best when it gets its own time on the calendar. So once a week, they leave the kids with a sitter and go out for coffee. “You need a system,” Katie says. “It’s about taking time to look each other in the eye. Not the kids. Not the cameras. Just each other.”
The same instinct shapes the work. Most of Trey’s trial and error happens onstage or on Instagram, but the first read is always Katie’s. “There’s only been one time ever I’ve had to be like, ‘you’re not doing that,’” she says. The rest of the time, she just laughs first.
FEATURING TREY & KATIE KENNEDY
Trey and Katie talk about marriage, parenting, and the moments that don’t make the Instagram feed.
