A Season of Strength, Style & Community

As we head into June and the final stretch of the school year, there’s a palpable shift happening across Greenwich. The pace softens just slightly, routines begin to change, and the community leans into a season that invites both energy and ease. It’s a moment to reconnect at home, locally, and with the businesses and people who make this town so special.

This issue reflects exactly that.

We’re proud to introduce the inaugural Greenwich Wellness Week, an initiative designed to bring together some of the most respected wellness businesses in our community for a week of access, discovery, and connection. Modeled with intention and built alongside local partners, it’s an opportunity for residents to experience new services, prioritize their well-being, and support the businesses that invest so much into this town. The response has already been incredible, and we’re just getting started.

You’ll also find a powerful story of growth and vision with Rhone, founded by Nate Checketts and Ben Checketts. Their “Forever Forward” mindset is more than a brand philosophy, it’s a reflection of how performance, purpose, and mental fitness can coexist and elevate one another. It’s a story that resonates deeply in a community that values both ambition and balance.

In a different but equally exciting evolution, Greenwich welcomes its first professional polo team, ushering in a new era that blends heritage sport with a modern lifestyle experience. It’s a reminder that tradition here isn’t static; it continues to evolve, offering new ways for residents to gather, celebrate, and engage.

And, as always, we remain committed to highlighting the local businesses that keep our homes and lives running seamlessly. Our feature on Discount Insulation Company is a perfect example showcasing not just a service, but the kind of expertise and integrity that quietly makes a meaningful difference in everyday life.

As summer approaches and schedules open up, I encourage you to explore, support, and connect locally. Whether it’s trying a new wellness offering, attending an event, or simply discovering a business you’ve passed a hundred times but never stepped into, these are the moments that strengthen our community.

Here’s to a season of feeling good, staying connected, and moving forward together.

Warmly,

June 2026

WHY MEN WAIT UNTIL THEY “NEED” CLOTHES

ARTICLE BY TANYA MEYERS FASHION STYLIST/@MODE_T_

Most men do not think about their wardrobe until something forces the issue. A dinner comes up. A trip gets booked. There is a work event, a wedding, a date night, or a moment in front of the mirror when the usual outfit suddenly feels a little off. That is usually when it becomes clear that new clothes are needed.

For many, shopping is not something they want to spend time thinking about. They want a closet to feel easy, practical, and reliable. They want to know what works and be able to get dressed without a lot of effort. The problem is that when shopping is reactive, the wardrobe gets built around isolated moments rather than real life.

That is when the gaps start to show.

A closet may cover work, the gym, and casual weekends, but still miss the in-between moments. Dinner out, casual meetings, school events, date nights, and weekends that call for something a little more pulled together, these are often the times when getting dressed feels harder than it should. Not because there are no clothes in the closet, but because there is not enough range.

To me, the solution is to build a wardrobe with a little more intention before the need becomes urgent.

The first place I always start is fit. Fit makes a huge difference in menswear, and it is often the fastest way to improve the wardrobe. A jacket that fits properly through the shoulders, pants with a cleaner shape, or a shirt that is not too long or too boxy can completely change the feel of an outfit. Even simple pieces look better when they fit well. That is one of the reasons I always like recommending Rothman’s in Scarsdale. They have a great selection for men, and the in-house tailoring makes the whole process easier.

Shoes are another easy place to update. They affect the look more than people realize. A cleaner sneaker, a refined loafer, or a versatile boot can instantly make familiar outfits feel sharper and more current.

Then comes range. Sometimes all it takes is one or two additions to make the whole closet work better. A great overshirt, a lightweight jacket, a polished casual pair of trousers, or a knit polo can fill the gaps and add more flexibility.

The goal is not a bigger wardrobe, but a smarter one. And if getting dressed still feels harder than it should, sometimes a fresh eye is all it takes. I’m always here to help make that part easier!

BUILT

HOW NATE AND BEN CHECKETTS

BUILT RHONE ON A “FOREVER FORWARD” MINDSET—WHERE PERFORMANCE, PURPOSE, AND MENTAL FITNESS MOVE IN LOCKSTEP.

BROTHERS BY

There is a particular kind of ambition that favors velocity, scale quickly, disrupt loudly, exit triumphantly. Rhone was never built in that image. Instead, it moves more like its namesake, the Rhône River: steady, deliberate, and a reminder that strength is formed through persistence and consistency.

was a gap not just in product, but in comfort, in what men felt was actually made for them. That realization became the unlikely catalyst for something far more enduring.

Founded in 2014 by brothers Nate Checketts and Ben Checketts, the brand began not with a sweeping manifesto, but with a single moment of clarity. While working at the NFL, Nate noticed a cultural gap: men had yet to fully embrace premium performance wear in the way women had. There

From the outset, the brothers were uninterested in simply launching another athletic brand. “It had to stand for something more,” Nate explains. What followed wasn’t just a product line, but a philosophy. Rhone’s guiding mission to champion Mental Fitness is rooted in the belief that how we feel and how we show up are inextricably linked, a belief system that has quietly, but powerfully, resonated.

modern life. Half focus on the mind, half on the body, but the deeper message is integration: wellness is cumulative, not compartmentalized. Each month centers on a specific pursuit, perspective, sleep, nutrition, nature, movement, learning, play, offering a practical lens for growth across different areas of life. What began as an internal framework has since expanded into a broader community experience, spanning digital platforms, retail spaces, and in-person gatherings.

notes. Ben offers a more intimate lens on that dynamic: “It’s been a real pleasure watching other people discover what I’ve always known about Nate, that he’s a natural leader who genuinely cares about people.” He adds, “Our team is the beating heart of this business… nobody does more to celebrate and lift them up than Nate.” The absence of ego has created not just operational clarity, but a culture defined by genuine care and shared respect.

In the early days, differentiation came down to quality. The founders, neither from fashion backgrounds, leaned into their outsider perspective, questioning everything from fabric to function; even down to the socks. Why do ankle socks slip? Could a silicone grip fix it? They tested relentlessly, working with elite athletes and refining every detail. “The customer could feel it,” Nate says.

Still, product was only the beginning. “Clothing was just the entry point,” he adds. “We wanted to help people live better, not just perform better.” That ambition now takes shape through initiatives like the “12 Pursuits,” inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s virtues and reimagined for

That community has become Rhone’s most defining asset. Long before it became a marketing buzzword, the brand was creating spaces for real connection. Its “Mind & Muscle” sessions, pairing workouts with open, often vulnerable conversations, reflect that ethos. A women’s-only session marked a meaningful expansion. “If we were going to reach the number of people we wanted to, women had to be part of that journey,” Nate says, a realization that ultimately led to the launch of the brand’s women’s line in spring 2024.

Working as brothers has shaped the company’s foundation in ways both pragmatic and deeply personal. “Love and trust come before everything else,” Nate

That steadiness has guided Rhone’s evolution. What began as a question of performance apparel has gradually expanded into something broader: how to support a life well-lived. “We think less about moments of performance and more about the practice of progress,” Nate says. Ben echoes that forward-looking mindset, noting that the future of wellness lies not in spectacle, but in substance: “I’m not talking about activations or marketing stunts… I’m talking about smaller, hyper-local gatherings that celebrate shared values.”

It’s a shift that mirrors a larger cultural movement toward authenticity. At Rhone, Mental Fitness isn’t just messaging, it’s embedded internally, shaping how the team works and how the brand shows up in the world. That same mindset is woven into the product itself. There are subtle, often hidden messages built into each piece, small, intentional details designed to encourage, ground, and keep you moving forever forward.

The brand continues to expand and will be opening a new store in the Corbin District in Darien later this year alongside its existing Westport location. Fairfield County has long been a meaningful part of Rhone’s community, and the brothers note, “We’re grateful to continue growing here in a meaningful way.”

A decade from now, the founders hope the brand’s legacy is measured not just in revenue, but in resonance. “We want Mental Fitness to be seen as essential,” Nate says, an ambitious goal, but one aligned with Rhone’s defining strength: steady, intentional progress.

Insulation isn’t about making a home warmer— it’s about helping it hold the temperature you want, efficiently.

Reliable Comfort Starts With Insulation

Honest expertise helping homeowners control energy, comfort, and long-term performance

When it comes to creating a comfortable, energy-efficient home, insulation is often overlooked but it’s one of the most impactful investments a homeowner can make. For Discount Insulation Company, that belief has been the foundation of the business for more than four decades.

Founded in 1981 by Tom Gonzalez, the company quickly built a reputation for reliable service and quality workmanship. Years later, after learning directly under Tom, Stu Ferguson took the reins in 2018 with a clear mission: preserve those same values of honesty, dependability, and client-first service while continuing to grow.

That continuity is what sets the company apart. With Tom’s background as a home inspector, the business was never just about insulation, it was about understanding the entire home as a system. Today, that perspective allows Stu and his team to approach every project with a broader lens, anticipating variables and ensuring each solution fits seamlessly into the bigger picture.

At its core, insulation acts as the barrier between your home and the outside world. Whether it’s the peak of summer

heat or the depths of winter cold, proper insulation gives homeowners control over their interior environment. It doesn’t just improve comfort, it protects the home itself, helping to prevent costly issues like frozen pipes and excess moisture damage.

Discount Insulation Company specializes in a wide range of projects, from attics and crawl spaces to walls and full-home upgrades. However, what truly distinguishes their approach is honesty. If a project isn’t worth the investment, they’ll say so. That level of transparency has built long-term trust not only with homeowners, but also with a network of like-minded contractors they confidently recommend when needed.

One of the materials they frequently recommend is cellulose insulation, a recycled paper product that doubles as a Class 1/A fire barrier. Its loose-fill nature makes it especially effective for retrofitting older homes, allowing the team to enhance existing insulation with minimal disruption. For homeowners, this translates to improved energy efficiency, lower utility bills, and a noticeably more comfortable living space.

In this region, one of the most common issues the team encounters is under-insulated attics. Many older homes lose a significant portion of their energy sometimes up to 70% through the top of the house. That’s why attic insulation is often the first recommendation. It’s a larger project, but one that delivers immediate and meaningful results.

Clients frequently feel the difference right away. It’s not uncommon for homeowners to call back after completing one project, eager to continue improving other areas of their home. That kind of response speaks volumes not just about the results, but about the experience.

Behind every project is a team committed to communication and craftsmanship. By working closely with each client, they tailor their approach to meet specific needs and expectations. Internally, a culture of collaboration and cross-training ensures that every job benefits from shared knowledge and attention to detail.

As the industry evolves, so do homeowner priorities. Energy efficiency and environmental impact are now top of mind, and

materials like cellulose and rockwool offer eco-friendly solutions that align with those values. At the same time, misconceptions remain and many people still believe insulation simply makes a home warmer. In reality, it works year-round, maintaining both heat and cool air more effectively when paired with a well-functioning HVAC system.

For Stu and his team at Discount Insulation Company, the work is about more than insulation, it’s about adaptability, problem-solving, and helping homeowners better understand how their homes function as a whole. Every project presents something new, and that ability to adjust and deliver consistent results is a point of pride.

Looking ahead, the goal is simple: continue growing without ever compromising on the level of care, communication, and honesty that has defined the company since day one.

Because at the end of the day, a well-insulated home isn’t just more efficient—it’s more comfortable, more resilient, and better equipped for whatever comes next.

GRE ENWICH’S fir st professional polo team BLE NDS TRADITION, SPORT, and lifestyle INT O A REFINED, modern cultural experience, MARKING A NEW ERA

GREENWICH SOUND

POLO TEAM GALLOPS INTO A NEW ERA

On summer Sundays, the polo scene unfolds with an easy rhythm, cars winding through quiet roads, conversation drifting across the fields, and then, almost on cue, the unmistakable thunder of hooves breaking through the afternoon. This season, however, carries a new kind of energy.

For the first time, Greenwich has its own professional team, the Greenwich Sound Polo Team. It’s a milestone that feels both exciting and overdue. More than just another chapter, it marks a shift, positioning Greenwich not only as a destination for polo, but as a serious presence within the professional game.

Polo itself has always been a balance of contrasts, fast and physical, yet polished and controlled. It requires discipline, but also instinct. That balance is part of its enduring appeal. Families gather on blankets alongside guests in tailored summer looks and private cabanas. Glasses clink, laughter carries, and conversations, both social and strategic unfold against the steady cadence of the match just steps away.

The Greenwich Sound Polo Team steps into this world with a clear perspective. It’s not about changing the sport, but elevating how it’s experienced, on the field and beyond it. That mindset begins with its founders.

Ron Fanish, co-founder and entrepreneur, brings a background in design, real estate, and service-based businesses across New York and Greenwich. His approach is grounded in growth and structure, building something that can expand without losing its identity. His role is subtle but foundational, shaping the long-term vision of the team.

Al Keshvarzian, co-founder and team captain, adds a different layer. A Senior Vice President in finance, he is equally defined by his deep roots in the polo community. His experience and leadership bring a level of discipline and professionalism that sets the tone on the field.

Tony Pec offers a more modern lens. With a career focused on digital strategy and brand growth, he understands how to position the team within a broader cultural conversation, ensuring it resonates both in person and beyond the field.

And then there is Esteban Panelo, whose presence feels instinctive to the sport itself. Originally from Argentina, where polo is woven into everyday life, he brings international playing experience and a deep understanding of the game. As both a player on the team and Polo Manager at the Greenwich Polo Club, he bridges competition and operations seamlessly, shaping not only how the team plays, but how the entire experience comes together.

Together, they’ve built something that feels thoughtful and cohesive, a team that respects polo’s heritage while quietly redefining its place in Greenwich.

That refinement extends beyond the field, into how the team presents itself. Collars & Co., the official sponsor of the Greenwich Sound Polo Team, plays a defining role in shaping that identity. Known for its modern take on classic menswear, the brand designs the team’s uniforms, bringing a clean, tailored aesthetic to the sport, while also launching a collaborative collection available to the public. It’s a natural extension of the experience, allowing guests and spectators to take a piece of the polo lifestyle with them, bridging sport and style in a way that feels both intentional and accessible.

At the center of it all are the horses. The Argentine thoroughbreds that carry the Greenwich Sound Polo Team are extraordinary, bred for speed, agility, and intelligence. Watching them move is something entirely its own. There’s a fluidity, a power, and a connection between horse and rider that feels almost unspoken.

It’s in those moments that polo reveals itself fully. It’s not just about the score, it’s about timing, trust, and the subtle communication that drives every play. And yet, in Greenwich, the match is only part of the story.

The day itself is just as important. It unfolds naturally, a glass of wine, a conversation that lingers, the sudden lift in energy as the game picks up pace. The Greenwich Sound Polo Team understands that this is what truly draws people in. It’s not about changing the sport, but enhancing how it’s experienced.

There’s a sense of intention in every detail. In how the team presents itself, in how the environment feels, in how guests move through the day. It’s elevated, but never forced. Exclusive, but still inviting. Above all, it feels authentic.

The fields stretch wide beneath open skies, framed by trees that soften the edges. It’s elegant without effort, expansive without feeling distant. There’s a sense of history here, but it doesn’t feel fixed. Instead, it creates space for something new to take shape while still honoring what came before.

That balance between tradition and evolution is what makes this moment so compelling. Because while the Greenwich Sound Polo Team is new, it feels entirely at home. Less like an arrival, and more like a natural progression, an evolution that reflects both where the sport has been and where it’s headed.

On any given Sunday, as the light shifts and the match settles into its rhythm, you can feel that evolution happening in real time, in the energy of the crowd, in the precision of the play, and in the quiet confidence of a team stepping into its first professional season with purpose. The Greenwich Sound Polo Team isn’t trying to redefine polo. It’s simply finding its place within it, and doing so with intention.

AN EXCERPT FROM EPISODE 6 OF SHARE THE LIFESTYLE, A CITY LIFESTYLE PODCAST

Photographer: Brittany Dawn Short

Creative Director: Jen Birn

Stylist: Stephanie Coultress O’Neill

Location: Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin, TX

MIKE JOHNSON HAS BUILT HIS LIFE AROUND ONE QUIETLY RADICAL IDEA: THE STANDARD YOU SET PRIVATELY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.

After eight years in the Air Force, a celebrated run on national television, and a health crisis abroad that sent him deep into supply chains and ingredient certifications most founders never touch, the result is Oshun — a luxury ritual brand built on provenance you can trace and integrity you can verify. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Mike shares what it actually takes to build something worth putting your name on. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full episode.

Q: YOU BECAME A FAN FAVORITE ON THE BACHELORETTE AND THEN LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT. YOU MOVED TO MEXICO, LEARNED SPANISH, THEN COSTA RICA, AND BUILT A COMPANY. WHAT DID THAT EXPERIENCE TEACH YOU ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR?

A: “If you’re a good person going in, that shows. If you’re not, that shows too. I also learned that people form this parasocial relationship with you — they assume things about you. When all actuality, different circumstances bring out different parts of who you are. I was on TV trying to find love. The kindness people were showing after felt a bit fake, because they wanted to be a part of something that isn’t who I am individually, but a part of what they saw on TV. And so I had to get away from everybody and everything and the noise.”

THE QUIET STANDARD:

MIKE JOHNSON

“Too many people have prayed for me. So I’ve got to get up and do the walking.”
— Mike Johnson

Q: YOU JOINED THE AIR FORCE RIGHT OUT OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHAT WERE YOU ACTUALLY RUNNING TOWARD?

A: “There was something in me that was saying: I’m not living up to my full potential. I was being a follower. My uncle said, ‘What’s going to make you become an adult the fastest?’ I said, obviously, the military. The Air Force broadened my thought process more than anything. We’re so caught up in our own perception — when you learn to understand different people’s perspectives, it adds to you in so many ways.”

Q: WITH OSHUN, YOU OWN YOUR MANUFACTURING, YOU EMPLOY A CHEMIST, EVERY PRODUCT HAS A BATCH NUMBER TRACEABLE TO ITS ORIGIN DATE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT DEEP WITH THE BRAND?

A: “The EU bans 1,100 ingredients in personal care products. The U.S. bans nine. That’s my starting point. Oftentimes, it might be the same ingredient, but it comes from a place where it doesn’t have the highest purity. And 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed. Every product Oshun makes carries a batch number that goes back to the exact day it was created — I can show you every single supplier, the date, the origin. I own more than one part of the supply chain because that’s the only way I can stand behind what’s in the bottle.”

This conversation is just the beginning. Mike goes deeper into why he’s buying land up north, the family in the Philippines who prayed over his factory floor, and what he’d tell every person ready to stop performing and start building. A Week That Defined Wellness

Greenwich comes together to celebrate connection, discovery, and elevated everyday living

There are moments when a community doesn’t just show up, it leans in. The inaugural Greenwich Wellness Week was exactly that: a powerful, town-wide celebration of well-being, connection, and the local businesses that make living well feel both accessible and inspiring.

Kicking off with an intimate, high-energy launch event at Beyond Yoga on Greenwich Avenue, which perfectly set the tone. As guests arrived, they were welcomed into a thoughtfully curated experience that blended wellness, luxury, and community in a way that felt distinctly Greenwich. The room was filled with a mix of familiar faces and new connections, all united by a shared interest in prioritizing health, balance, and personal growth.

The photos from the evening tell the story best. Smiles, conversations, introductions being made in real time, this wasn’t just an event, it was a moment of alignment. Local business owners connected with residents, collaborations sparked organically, and attendees got a firsthand look at the caliber of offerings available right in their own backyard.

That energy carried throughout the entire week.

Greenwich Wellness Week was designed with intention: to create a “restaurant week” style experience for wellness, where residents could explore new services, take advantage of exclusive offerings, and discover businesses they may not have otherwise encountered. From fitness studios

ARTICLE BY LAURA SABIA

and wellness practitioners to recovery specialists and beauty experts, each participating partner brought something unique, collectively elevating the experience for everyone involved.

For businesses, the impact went beyond visibility. It created meaningful touchpoints with potential clients, built brand awareness in an authentic way, and positioned each partner as part of a larger, trusted network. For residents, it offered a rare opportunity to engage, explore, and invest in their well-being with a sense of excitement and ease.

And perhaps most importantly, it created momentum.

This wasn’t just a one-time event. It was the beginning of something bigger. A new way for the community to connect through shared values, and for local businesses to collaborate rather than compete.

If you missed it this time, you felt the buzz, the conversations, and the “I wish I had known” moments. And that’s exactly the point.

Because as this initiative continues to grow, so will the opportunity to be part of it.

A heartfelt thank you to the founding partners who helped bring Greenwich Wellness Week to life. Your commitment to community, collaboration, and elevated wellness experiences set the standard for what’s to come.

Pickle In A

PICKLE-BRINED CHICKEN WINGS SOAR TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH ALABAMA WHITE SAUCE.

I’ve spent years searching for the perfect wing flavor, never quite satisfied, until I heard a podcast suggestion: brining chicken wings in pickle juice. It sounded strange at first, but it yields incredibly tender and flavorful wings! Since then, I save pickle juice from every jar I buy just to recreate these beloved wings. If I run out of pickle juice, olive juice works too. I air fry mine, but if you don’t have an air fryer, cook them as you normally would. Don’t forget to toss them in a buttery dill sauce and try the Alabama white BBQ sauce for an extra layer of goodness!

Pickle Juice Brined Wings

INGREDIENTS

• 2 pounds chicken wings (flats and drummettes)

• Pickle juice - enough to cover wings

• 1 – 2 teaspoons garlic salt

• ¼ teaspoon pepper

• 6 tablespoons butter

• A few dashes of hot sauce

• 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Place chicken wings in a non-reactive container and pour pickle juice over chicken wings until completely covered.

2. Place it in the fridge and let it marinate, covered, for at least 8 hours.

3. Drain wings, discard pickle juice, and completely pat wings dry.

4. Put dried wings in a bowl and sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper. Mix well.

5. Place wings in an air fryer basket, being careful not to crowd. Cook at 400 degrees for 28 minutes, turning every 8 minutes until crispy. If you don’t have an air fryer, bake them in the oven for 35 - 40 minutes at 400 degrees, flipping halfway through.

6. Melt the butter and add a few splashes of hot sauce of your choice and mix in a bowl. Add wings and completely cover with butter mixture. Sprinkle with fresh dill and toss a few times, and serve with my white barbeque sauce.

Alabama White BBQ Sauce

INGREDIENTS

• 1 ½ cups mayonnaise (I prefer Duke’s)

• ¼ cup water

• ¼ cup white wine vinegar

• 1 tablespoon pepper, coarsely ground

• 1 tablespoon Creole mustard

• 1 teaspoon salt

• 1 teaspoon sugar

• 2 garlic cloves, minced

• 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish

INSTRUCTIONS

Whisk all ingredients together until blended. Dip your pickle juicebrined wings in this sauce and taste the joy!  Store in the refrigerator for 1 - 2 weeks.
