Home Is Where the Heart Is

Holly Burke

THE CONCEPT OF HOME IS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE. For some, home is where the family is. It’s the place where weekends were— or still are—filled with baby snuggles, bedtime stories and Saturday morning cartoons. The place where the smell of bacon and pancakes fills the air on Sunday mornings, "do your homework before you go outside" is a daily mantra and unsnoozable slobbery dog kisses take the place of your morning alarm. For others, home is where the rest is. It’s the place where, after a long day, they go to relax. Where they spend meaningful time with their significant other, enjoy home-cooked meals and settle in on a comfy couch to catch up on the week's latest guilty pleasure TV shows.

And for us here at Green Valley Lifestyle, home is where the heart is—it's where we get to share meaningful stories with all of you. Whatever your home may be, we hope you find a piece of it here in this month's issue.

A PLACE EXISTS...

A place exists, where for a moment, you can escape the electronic noise, dim the lights of the city, and just be. A place where a cup of coffee or a glass of wine can be complimented with the quiet, still of nature. A place where the desert landscape and sloping terrain hug your back door. A place that evokes pride and sophistication, and encourages you to wake up and face the day! This place… quite simply, is called “home.” To find out how this one can be yours, contact us today.

EXISTING IN THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF OUR EVERYDAY LIVES CAN BE HECTIC! Between taking the kids to school, appointments, work deadlines, and trying to have a social life, we forget to take some time to just be with ourselves. It seems even more necessary today to make the time to unwind, listen to music, create art, write, paint or just chill and read a good book. It is possible to carve out some precious “me time,” which brings us to the question: where is my chill zone? My creative space? My space to just be me? Local designer and home stager Jennifer Paxson has a few design inspiration spaces to give you some new ideas and help you create that space in your home where you can just relax. A BEAUTIFUL MOVEMENT THE STORY OF WILLIAM AGLIATA ARTICLE BY ZAK LODHI

Art comes in many forms. It can be painted on a canvas, sculpted from clay, and expressed through beautiful movement. But what use is a piano without its keys, a pencil without a tip, or art without a future. Well, William Agliata is committed to ensuring that the future of ballet is a bright one, by teaching young people his art. Will is a master of his craft, starting his early ballet training in native Rome, Italy at the Renato Greco Dance Studio and The Rome Opera School of Ballet. He flourished with the help and guidance of Victor Livtinov, Ivana Gattei and Anton Kalinov (Sophia Opera and Ballet). But William’s dance education certainly did not stop there. He studied

with prominent artists, choreographers, directors, and composers. Every one of them contributed to William’s artistic experience and growth.

Burmann, Nancy Bielski, and David Howard are among the significant figures that helped Will. They heightened his ability and led him to perform at the Metropolitan Opera for several seasons. I sat down with Will and asked for his favorite moments of his career. Will: “Since 2015, I have been training Robert De Niro’s and Sting’s families. We focused on breathing techniques, weightlifting and ballet floor and barre exercises. These methods helped them to achieve their goals. I have danced a great many of ballets, and each is a new experience, but the achievements I am most proud of were the ones that meant the most to me. In 2016, I trained polio and cancer survivors. And I was also in the army as a military instructor to the fire department. Both of these experiences profoundly changed me, and I believe that I can reach into a students life and teach them the same things.” But what first set Will upon the path that would eventually mold him into the fantastic role model and dancer that he is today? Will: I remember distinctly when I first gained my hunger towards dance. You see in Europe; variety shows were top-rated. When I was a young child, I saw one that was supported by amazing classical dancers, doing jumps and turns that I wanted to learn. All of those dancers came from the schools I later attended, Rome Opera and Renato Greco.” But it always comes back to one thing with Will. His passion not only for dance, but inspiring people to learn the same art he has mastered. I would state it myself, but I cannot truly do it justice. Will: “Ballet comes into your life like a revelation, it changes the way you approach movement, and this happens at any point in someone’s life. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional or if you’re just starting. The artistry, the postural work, the positioning, and most of all the work with the music will make your life better, physically and emotionally. I can’t imagine life without it!

A man that has learned so much from so many people also has extraordinary experiences to show his pupils. Some highlights from William Agliata’s resume include performing in full-length ballets and operas at the Rome Opera, Danced in the worldwide telecast of the World YouthFair for John Paul II, and the world premiere of The Seven Deadly Sins. Will also performed on the Italian National TV Network and for the private TV Network Channel 5, and Coppelia for the Rome Summer Festival. You can see William tackle his next excellent performance when he dances with the Nevada Ballet William moved to New York permanently in 2004 to Theatre at the Smith Center in Beauty and the Beast dance and deepen his ballet training, studying with great teachers in the American ballet tradition: Wilhelm
