With this issue, we highlight some of the fashion styles that we see in Greeley, as well as a unique style of giving back to the community, and to each other. We share a famous country performer whose performance was given as a wedding gift, and inspired hundreds of people to give gifts to local non-profit organizations. We meet a local college student determined to give back to the students of the community in an unexpected way, and we share what the local Chamber of Commerce is doing to give to their investors and grow our community. We hope that you enjoy our “Style” issue, which is all about our style of giving and supporting each other in this amazing community. Sincerely,

LIFE STORIES LAUNCHES MEN MAKING A DIFFERENCE CAMPAIGN Starting in September, Life Stories will launch a recruitment campaign called “Men Making a Difference”. The purpose of the campaign is to recruit male volunteers for the CASA program and male board members. About 50% of the children served by Life Stories’ programs are male, although men make up only about 10% of the CASA volunteers and board members. To more accurately reflect the population we serve, Life Stories is recruiting men to step forward and volunteer their time. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers advocate for children and youth in the dependency and neglect system, raising their voices so that those without a voice can be heard. No experience necessary, just a love for children required! Now more than ever, CASA volunteers play a crucial role in helping children who have experienced abuse and neglect. The next in-person training begins September 29th, but we have trainings throughout the year. Visit https://www.lifestoriesweld.org/events/ for more information. If you have passion for helping children, consider becoming a CASA volunteer! To get more information please contact Sharon at 970-353-5970 or email sharon@lifestoriesweld.org.

LUV-A-DAD ANNOUNCES UPCOMING DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE Luv-a-Dad is a nonprofit organization determined to assist fathers suffering from cancer. Luv-a-Dad focuses on financial assistance for fathers battling cancer. It is hard enough for families to deal with a loved one having cancer, let alone, the financial burdens that come with it. The journey of living with cancer is unpredictable and uncontrollable. It is a time of grief and sadness. A common recommendation for people battling cancer is to keep their stress levels low, but that can be difficult for a father supporting a family. Luv-a-Dad is the stress relief that some of these fathers are looking for. The daddy-daughter dance will be the first Sunday in December at the Dreams and Dragonflies event center in Johnstown. This event is a formal event. Everyone is served a plated dinner, followed by dessert and dancing. With live music playing during the dinner portion of the event, then a DJ for the dance portion, it is sure to be a fun event that not only raises funds and awareness for the nonprofit, but also encourages dads to spend time with their daughters and show them how they deserve to be treated. To find out more, visit LuvaDad.org.

8-NOON

SATURDAYS DOWNTOWN

With access to ingredients this fresh, your refrigerator may start to feel lonely. Because there’s a standard to what good produce is here, one that’s reflected by the more than 41 certifiedCentennial farms based in Greeley. Many family-owned operations have carried on a proud agricultural heritage that’s been the hallmark of Greeley, generation after generation. Which is why you’ll find most locals prefer their local farms and produce stands to the grocery aisle. There’s simply no substitute for the care and knowhow that Greeley farmers put into their crop. Which is why food this fresh off the vine doesn’t always survive the trip home.

PLATINUM STAR COLLIN RAYE PERFORMS IN GREELEY FOLLOWING RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM

ON AUGUST 1ST, ALMOST 400 GREELEY RESIDENTS WERE PRIVILEGED TO ATTEND A PRIVATE WEDDING RECEPTION AT THE Z RANCH EVENT CENTER, IN GREELEY, WITH PLATINUM COUNTRY STAR COLLIN RAYE AS THE PERFORMER. Collin and his band were the best wedding gift of the night. Thanks to a generous friend of the bride and groom, hundreds of happy guests danced and sang the night away and created fun memories and a great story for years to come. Inspired by the best gift of the night, wedding guests made donations to three local non-profit organizations, and enjoyed paying it forward to the great community of Greeley. CONTINUED >

Collin Raye was an inspiration, singing with energy, joy, and gratitude for the evening. He has always been a great storyteller, and he’s built a multi-platinum career bringing that same energy to his performances and bringing interesting characters to life. Who can forget the struggling alcoholic in “Little Rock” or the devoted couple celebrated in “Love, Me?” On his new album Scars, Raye is once again wrapping his distinctive voice around a compelling collection of tunes, but this time, in addition to writing nearly every song on the 14-track set, Raye has also embarked on a new musical direction and has enlisted Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill and the Black Keys Dan Auerbach to join the journey. “I’d thought about doing an Americana record for years because to me, Americana means no rules,” Raye says. “Americana is kind of country, kind of bluegrass, kind of folk, kind of R&B. It’s anything you want it to be. I thought how fun would that be to make a record knowing that cut number one can sound totally different than cut number two and cut number three, number four, etc. And that’s exactly what I set out to do.”

even stronger impact today as they see partners through changing conditions. Some of the most meaningful work we accomplished during the pandemic was the incredible effort of our Greeley Area Recovery Fund, helping 280 businesses when they needed it most. This was a testament to the way this city cares and takes care of each other. The initiative of the talented board of directors that led this fund was second to none. What we want most is the success of each of our businesses. Our team at the Chamber is proud and grateful to represent them, to be their voice, and to advocate on legislation that impacts them. As a referral source to drive business success, we work without ceasing in honoring that partnership. Our businesses are an inspiration and are why we do what we do.
