MCNABB: A LEGACY BEYOND THE GAME
LIFE + CULTURE
DONOVAN MCNABB ON LEADERSHIP, CHARITY, AND COMMUNITY IMPACT BEYOND FOOTBALL.

JUNE 2026

June arrives with a shift in energy. Longer days, lighter evenings, and a sense that life is finally stepping outside again. It’s a month that doesn’t ask for reinvention so much as reconnection— with time, with people, and with yourself.
This issue is rooted in that idea: presence over performance.

For many men, lifestyle is often framed through achievement—what’s next, what’s bigger, what’s more. But the quieter truth we keep returning to is this: the most meaningful lives are built in the in-between moments. The early morning walk before the inbox fills. The dinner that turns into a conversation you didn’t expect. The decision to stay a little longer instead of rushing to the next thing.
June reminds us that ease isn’t the absence of ambition—it’s balance.
Inside this issue, you’ll find stories of men shaping their worlds in different ways. Some are building businesses with discipline and patience. Others are refining their craft, their health, or their sense of purpose. And some are simply learning how to slow down without losing momentum. Each story, in its own way, asks the same question: what does a good life actually look like now?
We also explore the role of environment—how the spaces we move through influence how we think, work, and recover. From home design to travel escapes, there’s a growing emphasis on intention. Not everything needs to be louder or faster. Sometimes the most powerful shift is choosing what you remove, not what you add.
Style this month leans into that same philosophy. Clean lines, breathable fabrics, and a return to simplicity. Not minimal for the sake of trend, but minimal as clarity. Clothing that works with your life, not against it.
And as always, we return to what anchors everything: health, relationships, and mindset. The fundamentals don’t change—but how we engage with them does. June is a reminder to check in, recalibrate, and move forward with a bit more awareness than before.
This is not a month for extremes. It’s a month for alignment.
Wherever you find yourself this season—on the move, building something new, or simply trying to be more present in what you already have—we hope this issue meets you there.
Here’s to a summer that feels less like acceleration, and more like intention.

From musician to entrepreneur, Dom builds a people-first insurance business rooted in trust and community

In a world where reinvention often defines success, Domenico— known to most as Dom—embodies what it means to pivot with purpose. Now a rising agent with State Farm, Dom’s path from professional musician to insurance entrepreneur is not just a career shift—it’s a story of intention, discipline, and service.
In 2020, life gave Dom a defining moment: the birth of his first son. With it came a new level of responsibility—and clarity.
“I wanted stability. Something I could control,” he explains. “Music will always be part of me, but I needed to build something sustainable for my family.”
That realization led him into the insurance industry, where he quickly recognized the deeper purpose behind the profession. What initially seemed like a practical move evolved into something more meaningful.
“It felt like a business rooted in doing good,” Dom says. “You’re not just earning—you’re protecting people when it matters most.”
After several years refining his craft under an established agent, he now stands on the edge of launching his own agency—built on values that go far beyond policies and premiums.
Dom’s approach to business is deeply personal, shaped by the principles he grew up with.
“Treat people the way you want to be treated. Always help where you can,” he says.
That mindset defines how he works with clients. Instead of transactional interactions, he prioritizes connection.
“I want to sit down, look someone in the eye, and understand their life,” he explains. “That’s how you actually protect people— not by selling, but by listening.”
It’s a philosophy that positions him differently in an industry often perceived as impersonal.
If there’s one non-negotiable in Dom’s business model, it’s communication.
“Problems don’t come from bad intentions—they come from lack of communication,” he says.
He builds trust through consistency, making it a priority to stay connected with clients through regular reviews and life updates. That proactive approach ensures coverage evolves alongside real life—not after something goes wrong.
Insurance is often viewed as a reluctant necessity. Dom is on a mission to change that perception. He recalls a client who passed away shortly after securing a modest life insurance policy.
“It wasn’t a massive policy,” he says. “But for that family, it made all the difference.”
Moments like that reinforce his belief: this work isn’t transactional—it’s transformational.
While the industry is evolving rapidly with technology and automation, Dom is clear on one thing: relationships will always be the foundation.
“Technology is a tool,” he says. “It should enhance what we do— not replace the human side of it.”
By blending modern systems with old-school values, he’s building a business that feels both relevant and real.
For Dom, success isn’t measured purely in revenue—it’s measured in alignment.
“Get one percent better every day,” he says. “That’s enough.”
At the center of it all is family.
“If I have my family and peace of mind, I’m successful,” he adds. “Everything else builds from there.”
Looking ahead, Dom’s vision is twofold: shift how people view insurance, and develop people beyond business.
For the next generation, Dom offers a perspective that’s both simple and hardearned: “People overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can build in ten.”
His message is clear—consistency wins.
“I want to build a team of good humans first,” he says. “Better people make better professionals.”
His legacy isn’t about scale—it’s about impact.
Living in a tight-knit area like Elmwood Park, Dom understands that trust is earned through presence.
“Being a good neighbor isn’t a slogan—it’s a responsibility,” he says. Whether through local events or everyday interactions, he’s committed to being visible, accessible, and invested in the people around him.
Despite the demands of entrepreneurship, Dom hasn’t lost touch with what fuels him creatively.
“Music still grounds me,” he says. “Even picking up the guitar for a few minutes resets everything.”
He’s intentional about maintaining balance, recognizing that success without well-being isn’t sustainable.
Domenico’s story is about more than a career change. It’s about stepping into responsibility, building with intention, and staying grounded in values that don’t waver.
As he prepares to launch his own agency, one thing is certain— he’s not just selling insurance.
He’s building trust, protecting futures, and creating a life defined by purpose.

In a city known for grit, loyalty, and heart, Donovan McNabb continues to prove that true greatness extends far beyond the field. His annual Celebrity Golf Invitational has become one of Chicago’s most meaningful philanthropic events—drawing elite athletes, influential figures, and community leaders together for a purpose that matters: improving the health and wellness of young people. But for McNabb, this isn’t just another charity event—it’s personal.
McNabb’s commitment to youth health is deeply tied to his own life. With children who spent time in the NICU and years of involvement in diabetes awareness initiatives through his foundation, his perspective isn’t theoretical—it’s lived. “What this event represents,” McNabb shared, “is bringing people together—friends, family, colleagues—to be part of something bigger while raising money for kids who truly need it.” That purpose has translated into real impact. In just one day, the event has raised more than $1.75 million—funds that directly support critical youth health initiatives. For McNabb, the numbers matter—but the outcome matters more. “At the end of the day, it’s about making sure kids get the care they deserve,” he said. “That’s something everyone can stand behind.”
First Born and raised in Chicago, McNabb’s connection to the city runs deep. His commitment to giving back locally isn’t performative—it’s foundational. “This is home,” he said. “I want to see Chicago

and Illinois continue to grow, and that starts with taking care of our communities—especially our youth.” That shared sense of responsibility is part of what makes the Invitational so powerful. It’s not just about celebrity appearances—it’s about alignment. The athletes and public figures who show up do so with intention. “We all have the ability to help,” McNabb explained. “And when you bring together people who genuinely care, the impact multiplies.”
For someone who achieved success at the highest level in professional sports, McNabb’s definition of success today is refreshingly grounded. “Success isn’t just about what you accomplish,” he said. “It’s about what you give—and who benefits from what you’ve learned along the way.” Legacy, in his eyes, isn’t measured in records or accolades. It’s measured in lives touched, opportunities created, and moments that change someone’s trajectory. “The real legacy,” he said, “is in the people you help and the smiles you see along the way.”
Now serving as the first president of the Ace Hardware Foundation’s Celebrity All-Star Advisory Board, McNabb is focused on scaling that impact even further. His vision is simple but powerful: consistent, meaningful change—one step at a time. It’s a mindset echoed by leaders like Barack Obama—that real progress happens incrementally, but intentionally.
McNabb isn’t just building an event—he’s building a movement. And he’s clear about what it takes to sustain it: participation. “Come experience it,” he said. “Be present. Get involved. That’s how you make a difference.” The Donovan McNabb Celebrity Golf Invitational isn’t just about raising money—it’s about raising awareness, building community, and reminding people that impact starts with showing up.

The Heartbeat of Chicago’s Nightlife: An Interview with Eric Boss of Hideaway
In Chicago’s dynamic nightlife scene, Eric Boss stands out as both curator and connector. As co-owner of Hideaway, he’s built more than a club—he’s created an experience rooted in music, energy, and intention.
Eric’s path into nightlife wasn’t strategic—it was instinctive. Drawn by a genuine love for the scene, he spent over 15 years immersed in it, evolving from participant to tastemaker. That passion now fuels every decision he makes. “When something pulls you, you follow it,” he says—and for Eric, that pull never faded.

Hideaway reflects a clear point of view. While many venues chase variety, Eric chose focus: house music, all night. The result is a cohesive, immersive atmosphere where the crowd connects through a shared rhythm. It’s not about being everything to everyone—it’s about doing one thing exceptionally well.
But beyond the music, Eric brings a deeper awareness to nightlife. As a mental health advocate, he recognizes the emotional weight people carry into these spaces. “If we can give someone a few hours of release, that matters,” he explains. Hideaway becomes more than a destination— it’s a temporary escape, a shift in mindset.
That experience doesn’t happen by accident. Eric is meticulous about every detail, from lighting to sound to the flow of the room. Each element is intentionally curated to shape how guests feel throughout the night. It’s this precision that elevates Hideaway from a venue to a fully realized environment.
Transitioning from promoter to owner has required a new level of discipline. Creativity now meets operations, and Eric embraces both. While branding draws attention, he believes execution builds loyalty. A seamless experience ensures guests return—and that consistency is key.
For Eric, the perfect night is about flow: a steady build, a full room, and an energy that feels electric. Just as important is how the night ends. The final impression, he believes, is what lasts.
Behind the scenes, the work is relentless. “It’s not as glamorous as it looks,” he admits. But for Eric, the reward is in creating something meaningful.
Right now, his focus is simple: build a strong foundation. Because at Hideaway, longevity matters more than hype—and intention defines everything.

“IF
WE CAN GIVE SOMEONE A FEW HOURS TO ESCAPE, RESET, AND FEEL SOMETHING REAL, THAT’S POWERFUL. NIGHTLIFE ISN’T JUST ABOUT GOING OUT—IT’S ABOUT CONNECTION, ENERGY, AND CREATING MOMENTS THAT ACTUALLY MEAN SOMETHING.”

AN EXCERPT FROM EPISODE 6 OF SHARE THE LIFESTYLE, A CITY LIFESTYLE PODCAST

Creative Director: Jen Birn
Stylist: Stephanie Coultress O’Neill
Location: Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin, TX
MIKE JOHNSON HAS BUILT HIS LIFE AROUND ONE QUIETLY RADICAL IDEA: THE STANDARD YOU SET PRIVATELY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.
After eight years in the Air Force, a celebrated run on national television, and a health crisis abroad that sent him deep into supply chains and ingredient certifications most founders never touch, the result is Oshun — a luxury ritual brand built on provenance you can trace and integrity you can verify. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Mike shares what it actually takes to build something worth putting your name on. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full episode.
Q: YOU BECAME A FAN FAVORITE ON THE BACHELORETTE AND THEN LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT. YOU MOVED TO MEXICO, LEARNED SPANISH, THEN COSTA RICA, AND BUILT A COMPANY. WHAT DID THAT EXPERIENCE TEACH YOU ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR?
A: “If you’re a good person going in, that shows. If you’re not, that shows too. I also learned that people form this parasocial relationship with you — they assume things about you. When all actuality, different circumstances bring out different parts of who you are. I was on TV trying to find love. The kindness people were showing after felt a bit fake, because they wanted to be a part of something that isn’t who I am individually, but a part of what they saw on TV. And so I had to get away from everybody and everything and the noise.”

“Too many people have prayed for me. So I’ve got to get up and do the walking.”
— Mike Johnson

Q: YOU JOINED THE AIR FORCE RIGHT OUT OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHAT WERE YOU ACTUALLY RUNNING TOWARD?
A: “There was something in me that was saying: I’m not living up to my full potential. I was being a follower. My uncle said, ‘What’s going to make you become an adult the fastest?’ I said, obviously, the military. The Air Force broadened my thought process more than anything. We’re so caught up in our own perception — when you learn to understand different people’s perspectives, it adds to you in so many ways.”
Q: WITH OSHUN, YOU OWN YOUR MANUFACTURING, YOU EMPLOY A CHEMIST, EVERY PRODUCT HAS A BATCH NUMBER TRACEABLE TO ITS ORIGIN DATE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT DEEP WITH THE BRAND?
A: “The EU bans 1,100 ingredients in personal care products. The U.S. bans nine. That’s my starting point. Oftentimes, it might be the same ingredient, but it comes from a place where it doesn’t have the highest purity. And 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed. Every product Oshun makes carries a batch number that goes back to the exact day it was created — I can show you every single supplier, the date, the origin. I own more than one part of the supply chain because that’s the only way I can stand behind what’s in the bottle.”
This conversation is just the beginning. Mike goes deeper into why he’s buying land up north, the family in the Philippines who prayed over his factory floor, and what he’d tell every person ready to stop performing and start building. In a year defined by growth and clarity, Mark McKay is stepping into his moment with intention. Fresh off a breakout 2025, the singer-songwriter isn’t simply riding momentum—he’s refining a purpose. His focus is clear: create music that connects people, carries meaning, and stands the test of time.
For McKay, momentum isn’t about headlines or hype—it begins and ends with the music. “A lot can make you feel like you have momentum,” he says, “but what really changes everything is the songs.” As his songwriting has evolved, so has his trajectory. Each new release reflects a deeper sense of clarity, both lyrically and sonically, allowing his audience to grow organically alongside him.
With 2026 on the horizon, McKay is building a consistent rhythm of monthly releases, touring, and elevated fan experiences. But beyond the strategy lies a deeper intention. “We’re focused on music that brings people together,” he explains. That philosophy extends far beyond the stage. For over a decade, McKay has performed on Skid Row in Los Angeles, reinforcing his belief that music should be accessible to everyone—regardless of circumstance.
His latest single, I Am Love, reflects that inclusive mindset. Rather than centering solely on romantic relationships, the song explores love in its many forms—self-love, spiritual connection, and compassion for others. “There are already so many traditional love songs,” McKay says. “This is about expanding

what love really means.” The track feels both personal and universal, offering listeners a message that resonates on multiple levels.
That authenticity continues in Let Her Fly, co-written in Chicago with Jim Peterik. While McKay draws from past experiences, the song’s message—learning to let go with trust— feels deeply relatable. “I’m in a happy place now,” he shares, “but I remember what it felt like to work through those moments.” It’s this balance of reflection and growth that gives his music emotional weight.

“On stage or off it, the mission stays the same: connection through sound.”
McKay’s sound is shaped by a blend of country roots and the melodic storytelling of Laurel Canyon icons like Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, and the Eagles. “A lot of those artists would probably be labeled differently today,” he notes, “but at their core, they’re storytellers.” That same storytelling instinct defines McKay’s work—songs that feel timeless, yet distinctly his own.
At the heart of McKay’s artistry is connection. He recalls moments when fans have shared how his music helped them through difficult times—reminders of the role music can play in emotional healing. “Music creates a space where people can be vulnerable,” he says. “That’s powerful.” Whether through recorded tracks or live performances, his goal remains the same: to make people feel seen.
Recognized as one of the top live performers, McKay attributes that distinction to authenticity. “You’re not getting the same show every night,” he says. That spontaneity creates an energy that can’t be replicated—an experience that feels alive, present, and deeply human. It’s not about perfection; it’s about connection in real time.
From early life lessons to the influence of Nashville’s collaborative songwriting culture, every chapter of McKay’s journey informs his work. Now, as he continues to grow, his foundation remains grounded in purpose. This isn’t just about making music—it’s about making it matter.
With a clear vision and an unwavering commitment to connection, Mark McKay is proving that when music is rooted in meaning, it resonates far beyond the final note.

For Mark McKay, music is only part of the story. His commitment to community and connection extends well beyond the spotlight. For more than ten years, he has performed regularly on Skid Row in Los Angeles, using music as a way to reach individuals often overlooked. He’s also actively involved in charitable efforts, including upcoming events supporting children’s healthcare initiatives. Inspired by artists who prioritize authenticity over mass appeal, McKay remains focused on meaningful impact—choosing depth over scale, and connection over recognition, in both his music career and his life offstage.
