Explore your Hormone Health Options
The variations in different hormonal therapies, such as synthetic vs bio-identical, can make a huge difference in how you feel and your overall, long-term health. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy works by supplementing the same, natural chemicals the body produces naturally that decline with age. By replacing these lost hormones, many of the conditions brought on by aging may be prevented or corrected. Bioidentical hormones are synthesized from natural plants and are altered in the lab to identically match what human endocrine glands produce. For this reason, they are felt by many experts to be safer alternatives that provide the best results for optimal health and wellness! Our hormone health experts at Alexander Medical will go the distance for you to help you find relief from symptoms related to aging and hormonal imbalances.

Cheeseburgers in Paradise
MEET S. BARRETT RINZLER: THE MAN BEHIND THE MAGIC OF FAMOUS 66
While the name S. Barrett Rinzler might be unfamiliar to you, his restaurants are among our favorites across the Valley. Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers and Bourbon & Bones are just a couple of the famous eateries from Square One Concepts that have made their way to Gilbert. This spring, our town was blessed to become home to their newest restaurant, Famous 66.
Born in Atlanta and raised in Ohio, Rinzler’s journey from a sports bar enthusiast to a celebrated restaurateur is a story of innovation, dedication, and a deep connection to his community. After graduating from Arizona State University, Rinzler knew he had found his home in Arizona. The state’s welcoming climate and entrepreneurial spirit provided the perfect backdrop for his ambitions. “Metro Phoenix has been good to us,” he says, “but we work hard, gauge our concepts, and focus on pleasing the customer.”
Gilbert has become a focal point for Rinzler’s culinary ventures. The city’s family-friendly vibe and discerning residents make it an ideal location. “It’s an upbeat, beautiful community with a cool farming heritage-turned-suburban,” he notes. Rinzler’s restaurants aim to meet the high standards of Gilbert’s residents, offering quality options close to home.
ARTICLE BY KRISTY BELLEY | PHOTOGRAPHY BY QUIANNA MARIE PHOTOGRAPHY @QUIANNAMARIE
The creation of Famous 66 was inspired by Rinzler’s love for classic cars and the legendary Route 66. "I’m a car collector and there’s nothing better than that throwback vibe of trips on the open road. That brings us to the legendary Route 66. It’s a highway that has left its imprint on Arizona!" Famous 66 provides a home for car enthusiasts in Gilbert by hosting a car show on the first Tuesday of each month. This nostalgic nod to the open road is a testament to Rinzler’s passion for both cars and creating memorable dining experiences. You might even catch a glimpse of some of Rinzler’s personal collection, like his 1970 custom Chevelle or his 1968 custom Camaro, at an upcoming Famous 66 car show.
For Rinzler, a high-quality burger is a non-negotiable part of any menu. Over the years, his restaurants have gained a reputation for serving some of the best burgers in the country. Today, his establishments, such as Famous 66, are known for many delectable offerings, thanks to a scratch kitchen and the collaborative genius of Rinzler and executive chef Robert Wagner. “First, we always have delicious food. Add comfortable, welcoming surroundings, quality interior design, a wide selection of great beverages, and friendly service. That’s our approach,” Rinzler explains with a smile.
When it comes to his own dining preferences, Rinzler enjoys a variety of meals from his different establishments. Of course, Bourbon & Bones has an outstanding steak selection by design! The finest elite prime beef paired with a fine wine or exceptional bourbon. “Now when you consider Famous 66, I’d say my favorite is the Prime Dip, Prime Rib, or the Fried Chicken. And then of course, Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers, the Thousand Island burger is great.” And if he were stuck on a desert island? Unlimited Nobu sushi would be his go-to choice. SHOCKING, RIGHT? We were sure it would be a cheeseburger. Rinzler’s mom’s Caesar dressing recipe also holds a special place on the menu.
“I’m a car collector and there’s nothing better than that throwback vibe of trips on the open road.”
“Famous 66 is new, and we’re just beginning our legacy. But you can count on law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders being part of our giving mix.”
“We tried others, but I kept wanting something that tasted more like hers,” he explains. Her regular visits ensure it stays on point.
Rinzler’s restaurants are deeply involved in community support through initiatives like Cold Beers Cares. They back causes such as the Ivy Brain Tumor Center and the Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association (ALECA). “Famous 66 is new, and we’re just beginning our legacy. But you can count on law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders being part of our giving mix. And we are also BIG supporters of the US Armed Forces as well.”
Beyond his success in the culinary world, S. Barrett Rinzler is a person who values community, tradition, and genuine connections. His passion for bringing people together over great food and shared experiences is evident in every one of his ventures. Rinzler’s commitment to quality and his deep appreciation for the communities he serves are what set him apart as a restaurateur and a person. Whether it's through his innovative restaurant concepts or his dedication to giving back, Rinzler embodies the spirit of hospitality and community that makes Gilbert and the Valley a better place. His story is not just about business success, but about making a meaningful impact on the lives of those around him.
Income Property Turning Your Home into
SOMETIMES LIFE CHANGES - THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN TURNING YOU HOME INTO A RENTAL PROPERTY WITH ONQ PROPERTY MANAGEMENT EXPERTS
Looking to make a move to a new home but not sure if you want to sell your current home? We spoke with Chief Strategy Officer and Designated Broker Eric Dixon at On Q Property Management, for some dos and don’t’s then it comes to the home rental market.
“ The rental market is full of flexibility and mobility. You can try different cities and neighborhoods and the landlord handles all major repairs and mechanical failures while you just keep the property clean and tidy.”
What is the demand for rental proper- ties in the valley right now?
The demand for affordable housing is extremely high. Therefore, when priced correctly or aggressively, rental properties are leasing very quickly. The challenge, and opportunity we have, is educating rental property owners to be fluid with the market at hand. If a rental property looks great and has been on the market for more than 2 weeks, the price needs to be adjusted.
What do you need to know before you consider exploring the idea of renting your home?
If you are considering becoming a landlord, make sure to go into it with the right expectations. Renting your home is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It is a long-term investment that has its pros and cons, just like any other investment. Some years you’ll make money and some years, you’ll lose.
Why should you use a property man- agement company if you are going to rent out your home.
If you are serious about your rental being a longterm investment, select the best property management company you can. A property management company will create a separation between you and the residents so you can focus on what your own home. Investors who hire a Property Management company realize their time is better allocated to making money and memories, not chasing rent and moonlighting as a property manager.
What do you see happening with rental properties over the next 5 years in the valley?
In the valley, builders can’t keep up with the amount of people moving in. Whether it is for weather or the job market, Phoenix is a great destination. The rental market has always been strong and will continue to stay that way with adding 60,000+ new residents a year.

COME EXPLORE THE BEST BBQ PLACES IN TOWN
Where Arizona BBQ meets Family Traditions
We do have some incredibly talented pitmasters right here in our own backyard.
When the sun comes out and the temperature rises, Americans across the country gather around their grills and smokers for a classic barbecue feast. But "barbecue" is more than just a cooking method or a social gathering. It's a culinary tradition that has roots in indigenous communities of the Caribbean and has been influenced by African American culture, Mexican outdoor cooking, and the meat-making traditions of German and Czech immigrants, truly representing the diverse flavors and culinary heritage of America and centers around the heart and soul of its people - family. While Arizona may not hold the title of the BBQ capital of the world, we do have some incredibly talented pitmasters right here in our own backyard, and this article serves as an open declaration of love for some of our special, saucy establishments right here in Gilbert.
CALDWELL COUNTY
Nestled along Power, just off the 202 and across from the American Furniture Warehouse, Caldwell County BBQ stands as a beacon of Arizona's finest barbecue.
During peak hours, you might find yourself in line, but fear not; the wait is brief, and trust me, it's well worth an extra minute or two of anticipation. For the full experience, I highly recommend indulging in a bit of everything. Whatever you do, do not miss out on the jalapeno cheddar sausage, the cornbread casserole, or the mac and cheese — which, by the way, happens to be our absolute favorite in town.
Once you've secured your tray of barbecue goodness, take a seat indoors or head outside
to a picnic table. Prepare to be immersed in a world of juicy, tender, smoky, and downright tantalizing flavors. You know it's a truly exceptional meal when conversation, even about the food itself, falls to a hush, punctuated only by the occasional "wow" or muffled, ecstatic "mmmm." While plastic utensils often struggle against hearty beef and pork, here they effortlessly slice through the savory and succulent brisket, adorned with a delightful char and that coveted pink smoke ring that can only come from "low and slow" cooking. The sausage is equally impressive, boasting a thin, crispy skin, firm texture, robust flavor, and a hint of smokiness that feels almost heavenly on the palate.
And let's not forget about the sauces. Caldwell County offers a range of options, from the Hot and Sweet style to the tantalizing Arizona Gold, not to mention their incredibly satisfying House Sauce. Personally, I'm usually a purist when it comes to barbecue, preferring the meat to stand on its own. However, there's something undeniably special about the Arizona Gold sauce that compelled me to take a bottle home for later enjoyment.
And don't forget to check out their newest location at Pecan Lake in Queen Creek for an experience that promises not only incredibly delicious food but also a fun-filled outing for the whole family.
JOE'S REAL BBQ
In the heart of Downtown Gilbert, Arizona, where the sun-soaked streets echo with the aroma of smoked meats and the laughter of patrons, there's a special place where BBQ isn't just about the food—it's

about family. At Joe's Real BBQ, the true essence of barbecue is embodied not just in their savory ribs and brisket, but in the values and traditions that have been passed down through generations. As you step into the converted 1929 grocery store, the inviting scent of slow-smoked meats greets you, setting the stage for an experience that goes beyond the culinary.
Founded in 1998, Joe's Real BBQ in Downtown Gilbert is more than just another restaurant; it's a labor of love that began with Joe Johnston's passion for barbecue. What started as a backyard hobby grew into a fullfledged eatery, with Joe's commitment to quality and authenticity at its core. But Joe didn't embark on this journey alone; he was joined by his family every step of
the way. Today, as you sit down at a table at Joe's Real BBQ, you're not just enjoying a meal; you're becoming part of a legacy. You're savoring the fruits of a family's labor, passed down from one generation to the next. In every bite of tender brisket and every dollop of tangy sauce, you can taste the history and the heart that goes into each dish.
The next time you find yourself in Downtown Gilbert, make your way to Joe's Real BBQ. Experience more than just a meal; experience the warmth of family, the richness of tradition, and the true essence of barbecue. At Joe's, it's not just about the food—it's about coming home. It's a place where families gather for celebrations, friends meet for a casual meal, and strangers
become friends over a shared love of barbecue. The sense of belonging is palpable, serving as a reminder of the importance of coming together around a table.
FLYING K BBQ FOOD TRUCK
In the bustling food scene of Gilbert, Arizona, there's a food truck that stands out not just for its mouthwatering barbecue but for the rich heritage and dedication that fuels its fire. Meet the Flying K BBQ food truck, a true gem in the culinary landscape. This Gilbert family-owned and operated venture, led by Chef Ken Davis and his wife Heather, not only brings award-winning Arizona-Style BBQ to the table but also embodies the spirit of service and tradition.
Chef Ken Davis, a talented Arizona native and award-winning pitmaster, doesn't just create barbecue — he crafts experiences. Hailing from a long line of settlers in Northern Arizona, Ken's roots run deep in the state's history. But before donning his chef's hat, Ken served in the Army and fought fires as a Hotshot for the U.S. Forest Service and it's this background of service and dedication that now drives his mission to serve the local community through his love of food. In 2012, Chef Ken honed his skills and developed a unique style of barbecue that has
become legendary, and this isn't just any barbecue; it's an original Arizona-Style BBQ that locals and visitors alike can't get enough of. Whether it's the perfectly smoked brisket, or a smokey, snappy sausage, each bite tells a story of passion and expertise. But behind every great pitmaster is a great partner, and in Ken's case, it's his equally skilled wife, Heather. A culinary powerhouse in her own right, Heather brings 17 years of experience in the Hospitality and Food and Beverage Industry to the table. Flying K BBQ isn't just about serving up delicious meals; it's about forging connections with the community. Whether they're catering events, hosting pop-ups, or serving hungry customers from their vibrant food truck at a local feastival, Ken and Heather create an atmosphere where guests feel like family. And while rooted in tradition, Flying K BBQ is also a place of innovation. Ken and Heather are always experimenting with flavors and techniques, keeping their menu fresh and exciting. From classic brisket to inventive twists on sides like loaded Mac and a sauce imagined up by the couple’s daughter, there's always something new to discover.

Flipping Success
Exploring Life’s New Heights:
Beyond the Olympics
As she steps into her home gym, the young athletes pause their training, turning to recognize the Olympian. She's not just a champion but a real-life example of their biggest dreams coming true.
"It's always fun to kind of re-live those memories. Walking in the gym and just being with the girls and watching these girls try to do the same thing that I did, leaving that legacy here."
Entering the gym looks a little different these days for MyKayla as she embarks on a new chapter in life: motherhood. MyKayla and her husband Jonas welcomed their daughter Charlotte "Lottie" ten months ago .
Gilbert City Lifestyle had the opportunity to sit down and reminisce on her path as an Olympic athlete and the experiences that brought her to this point in her life as a role model.
MyKayla had an Olympic dream as a young girl but didn't know how it worked or what it would take to get there. At age 12, she entered the Desert Lights elite program, a level of training only offered at specific gyms.
Her dedication, hard work, and positive, never-quit mindset continue to shine through as she reflects on achieving her Olympic dream.
"Being able to inspire those girls every day and having them watch me train, thick and thin, every single day – it was exhausting. I don't know how I pushed through it, but I found the grit and worked hard every day to achieve my dreams."
Training required seven hours per day. Even at the collegiate level, where the scoring system is based on perfection and not difficulty in routines, MyKayla continued to challenge herself by executing more difficult skills.
"That's one reason I feel like I really stood out well in college, and people enjoyed watching because I brought the big skills."
She is very transparent about the challenges she faced on the road to her Olympic dream.
CONTINUED >
“IT'S ALWAYS FUNTO KINDOF RE-LIVE THOSE WALKING IN THE GYMANDJUST BEING WITH
It was devastating when MyKayla didn't make it to the individual events. Because of the two-per-country rule, limiting the number of gymnasts from each country to go on to compete in individual finals (to prevent one country from dominating a field), she didn't qualify for vault finals. She had ranked third for the U.S.
She wanted her moment so badly but was also so proud to compete. "It just hit me hard because I knew I was retiring after the Olympics. This is my last meeting ever, and that's not how I wanted to go out. But I just changed my mindset right then and there and was like, 'I've got to be here for my team, I've got to do this for me, it's
not over 'til it's over.' I went out and hit bars and beams and had the best meet of my life. Even though I didn't get to go in for individual events, I did that. I accomplished something that I wanted so bad as a little girl."
But it wasn't over. After Simone Biles withdrew, MyKayla had one more chance and was given the opportunity to compete in the vault finals. She needed to mentally shift, get back into training mode, and compete. She was grateful for one last chance, and she made the absolute most of it. MyKayla brought home the silver medal.
"It was so rewarding, even thinking that I accomplished something like that," she recalls.
Sports history tells us legends are made by one moment, one opportunity. Without a doubt, preparation allowed her to be ready for the chance, and MyKayla took it.
She remains the only gymnast from her gym, Desert Lights, to have competed on the Olympic stage, but she hopes that changes in the future and that her story continues to inspire others to never give up.
"Being that role model to so many girls in the world to never give up was like my motto through my whole journey because I had so many ups and downs, never made it, never made it, and I still kept going anyway and persevered and pushed through it and was able to make my dreams come true. So by never giving up, I got there, and that's just been my big thing, which is helping other girls and athletes in the world to achieve that too."
MEMORIES. H THE GIRLS"
MyKayla continues to inspire by being involved in camps and public speaking engagements and influencing social media platforms and her YouTube channel.
In her downtime, she and her husband love a good date night, going to the movies and enjoying dinner at all the different restaurants in Downtown Gilbert (followed by a prickly pear with lime soft-serve ice cream from Topo).
She's been having fun transitioning into her new role as a mom and experiencing moments she wasn't always able to be a part of while so committed to gymnastics, like vacations and family birthdays.
When asked what she would tell her younger self, she said she knew a five-year-old with an Olympic dream would be so proud.
"I wanted to quit so many times, but honestly, I just think I would tell myself I am just so proud of you for sticking with it…you pushed and persevered…you stuck to your beliefs, and you just stuck to your training and your process, and you trusted your coaches, and you got where you needed to be. And it was all worth it."

Better Relationships Require Better Choices
Anyone can say they want a better relationship.
Anyone can say all the things they are going to do to make their relationship better.
Anyone can make lots of promises about how they are going to start showing up differently.
But the only way to actually make a relationship better… is by DOING better.
This includes:
Finding ways to connect more often physically & emotionally | Following through on your promises & commitments to each other | Learning how to stay safe & calm during hard conversations | Providing validation & support for each other’s experiences Demonstrating interest & curiosity about their inner world | Initiating open & honest conversations about intimacy | Complimenting each other more often & expressing gratitude
If a safe, fulfilling, and connected relationship is something you truly desire… that is going to require that you take inventory of what is currently working in your relationship, and what is not.
Once you identify some things that need to change… keep in mind, this change can only take place through consistent and intentional efforts.
