LMS offers an authentic Montessori program from early childhood through high school, adhering to principles and scientific methods for your child’s development.
The elementary learning environment (grades 1-6) fosters independence and focus through individual or small group work, natural lighting, soft colors, and organized, accessible materials. New students quickly adapt to Montessori’s hands-on, interest-driven teaching. The classroom is a vibrant, happy community where students explore, create, and reflect, with teachers offering support and introducing new material as needed. Clear expectations are balanced with openended opportunities, promoting both comfort and inspiration for learning.
Our Secondary Montessori program serves 7th - 10th grade with expansion of grade levels each year.
We integrate rigorous academics with purposeful work, preparing students to become selfconfident, contributing adults. Our approach addresses adolescents’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and independence. Beyond challenging their intellect, compassion, diplomacy and collaboration are developed through personally experiencing human and nature interdependence. Students also learn business and entrepreneurship skills through hands-on participation in real economic activity provided by Laniakea’s micro-economy program.
We are accepting 3 new students to join our Secondary program. Students must have a strong work ethic with a positive behavior record.

Style is an extraordinary part of our lives — it’s far more than the clothes we wear or the accessories we choose. Style is the fabric woven into every detail of our existence, from the way we decorate our homes, to the art and music we enjoy, and even how we interact with the world around us. It’s the unique thread that creates the tapestry of who we are.
What makes style so captivating is its deeply personal nature. It evolves alongside us as we explore new interests, embrace our quirks, and express what we value most. It’s a language without words, a powerful tool for connection that can bridge differences and spark shared understanding.
Right here in our own backyards, we’re fortunate to have endless opportunities to celebrate and explore style. Whether it’s through visiting local and new boutiques, supporting creative entrepreneurs, or simply drawing inspiration from our region’s vibrant culture, there’s so much around us to ignite your creativity and lift your spirit.
In this issue, we spotlight beautiful style and fashion from familiar places like Ilene’s Gator Store and classic clothing from Cabi Style with Leza. We'll show you some new places to check out too, like Hats Off Boutique and Lion’s Lair. And, we’re excited to re-introduce some new faces and places as well, such as Dr. Jason Rosenberg, with his new boutique surgical center, and the beautiful and oh-so-stylish Valentino Nail Bar.
Whether you’re exploring new trends, blending classic elements, or creating something entirely original, go ahead, celebrate your unique style, and let this issue inspire you to embrace your power of self-expression.
Thank you for reading and supporting our City Lifestyle Community. Cheers to finding and celebrating your own unique style, and see you around town!

This year the Silverman family proudly celebrates 90 years of retail apparel in Gainesville, beginning with my father Joe Silverman opening his first store in 1935, appealing to the men attending UF. In 1950 he opened Silverman’s The Man’s Store on West University Avenue, then in 1960 moved across the street to become Silverman’s For Men and Women, always with my mother Faye working by his side. Our reputation as the premier retail store in Gainesville was the result of my parents working diligently to establish and maintain this recognition. We stayed in that downtown location until 1989, eventually closing after my Dad unexpectedly passed away in 1986.
As a young girl growing up in Gainesville I spent many hours at our family business: it always felt as if the store was an extension of our home. Still, I never thought that my life’s path would be to keep my family’s retail legacy flourishing in our community. Now the rewards of that decision are ever more meaningful and satisfying.
I opened my first store in November 1989 as Ilene’s For Fashion in Millhopper Square, moved to the Shoppes at Thornebrook in 2003, and in 2018 opened my current larger store rebranded as Ilene’s Gator Store, facing NW 43rd Street in the front of Thornebrook. We are a fashion boutique catering to the Gator Nation with exclusive quality Gator apparel for women, men, children, plus jewelry, accessories, and gifts. I think back to my family’s earlier stores, and realize we have always catered to the needs of UF, and I am honored to continue that tradition.
I learned so much about the business of retail and life from my parents, and the Silverman philosophy of valuing all visitors, treating everyone with respect and kindness, staying true to the goal of the best customer service with the mantra of making customers happy. They always gave back to the community, making a difference to enrich our world, and I continue to do the same.
The term family business includes the great women that are our team at Ilene’s Gator Store. We are a family, and that warm feeling is generated in our store each and every day, as we often serve several generations of families who once shopped with my parents and in my earlier stores.
Alumni stop in that remember Silverman’s with fondness, share their life stories, and invariably we discover the one degree of separation that seems to now exist in our community. As football season arrives every year to signal the beginning of the ‘Gator Season’ new and returning fans find our store, smiling, hugging, and sharing a Go Gators Chomp as they depart.
One of the unique aspects of our store is our fashion approach to Gatorwear. We offer collections of exclusive prints in different designs to suit the many needs of our Gator fans. I work with different individual designers to interpret our exclusive Gator prints in crystal designs and other unique presentations. Sizes small - 3x for women. Our men’s collection features well known designers in Gator prints, plus a variety of adorable kids apparel, infant through youth. We offer a variety of accessories to complement every outfit. Many fans refer to our store as a place full of Gator treasures or shopping in Gator heaven. One of the finest compliments we receive is when customers refer their friends and family to visit us. Or a friend will mention that when dressed in our apparel someone says “You must have purchased that at Ilene’s Gator Store”. We have established a look that is recognizable.
The digital version of Ilene’s Gator Store is accessible to the Gator Nation on our website ilenesgatorstore.com. We invite you to connect with us on Facebook and Instagram.
Or just call us; we still have the same phone number originated by my parents.
We also feature stylish apparel by Montreal Designer Joseph Ribkoff, hosting trunk shows and offering special orders.
Ilene’s Gator Store is a welcoming place, exuding an atmosphere of positive energy and treating everyone like family. We are a community space where you not only shop but gather to share ideas, talk and visit. Just as my parents were together in their business, my husband Harvey Budd and I are partners in life and our store. We plan on growing and evolving our business as far into the future as possible, continuing the Silverman family legacy for many years to come.

Confidence grows when your clothing fits well, flatters your shape, and reflects who you are.
Style isn’t about trends or price tags—it’s about presence. It’s how you walk into a room, how you hold yourself, how you show the world you’re paying attention— even to yourself.
You don’t need a closet full of clothes to be stylish. What you need are pieces that fit you your body, your personality, your lifestyle. Clothing should move with you and make you excited to wear it. A well-fitting bra will make a visible difference in how your clothes fit and how you carry yourself. Choose clothing designs that enhance your favorite features and colors that bring light to your face. When these elements come together, something shifts. You stop hiding. You start leading.
But here’s the thing—style takes intention. And somewhere along the way, many of us were told it’s vain to care, or shallow to try. We were told that ease means careless, and comfort means oversized. And yet, in the same breath, we’re more critical of ourselves than ever. That contradiction matters.
Putting effort into how you present yourself isn’t about perfection—it’s about self-respect. It’s a form of self-care that doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. A few thoughtfully chosen, well-fitting pieces can change how you see yourself—and how others see you.
Personally, I’ve learned that when I take the time to look put together, I’m better received. Strangers treat me with more warmth. Life

At cabi Style with Leza, every sale is more than just fashion—it’s a way to give back to the community I love. Thanks to the support of my amazing customers, I’ve had the honor of being awarded the Love Local Grant by the Heart of cabi Foundation two years in a row. The Heart of cabi Foundation has donated more than 400 pieces of new cabi clothing to women in the Displaced Homemaker Program at Santa Fe College, helping them gain confidence, dignity, and hope for a fresh start.
When you shop with cabi, you’re not just choosing style—you’re helping make a meaningful impact possible.
I’m especially grateful to the volunteers and local businesses who partner with me to make this event truly special. Leonardo’s Pizza Millhopper has generously donated lunch both years, Fresh Market in Thornbrook has provided water for everyone, The Flower Shop has created stunning floral arrangements, and new this year, Jen Duke Photography captured unforgettable moments from the event.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida holds a special place in my heart because of the children that are ill and their family members needing a place to stay. The House in Gainesville is beautiful and has a warm feeling when you walk through the front doors. The rooms where the families live while their child is in the hospital have a home like feeling. The staff is so caring and if you are lucky, a group or organization is cooking for the families and it smells so good! My hope is the work we do for the families and the children make a difference in their lives and they leave the House knowing they’ve been cared for. https://www.walker-furniture.com/ (352) 372-1125

It was difficult to choose my favorite charitable organization to support, I love so many, but my longest connection is with Weeki Wachee Christian Camp. Throughout my childhood, summer camp stood out as a highlight each year. Attending more than one week of camp a year continued once our sons became campers too.
Fortunately, my husband Philip also enjoys Weeki Wachee Christian Camp. We both were campers at Weeki Wachee as teens. We’ve continued as cabin chaperones together with our adult sons as their schedules permit.
In addition to contributing our time and funds for the camp, we particularly enjoy sponsoring children to attend camp each year with us. Many of the children we’ve been privileged to sponsor had never had an opportunity to attend an overnight camp before.
Spending time focusing on helping children with fellow Christians in the picturesque and calming Weeki Wachee setting brings me great joy. I am grateful Gainesville City Lifestyle for this opportunity to share a little about Weeki Wachee Christian Camp. Kathryn.Lancaster@LPL.com (352) 247-4277

This Gainesville-area Corey Amira custom home showcases several modern luxury features.
We recently completed a custom modern-style home in the Gainesville area, featuring several distinctive design elements that define its contemporary aesthetic.
One standout feature is the flat-faced cabinetry, crafted by Straw Woodworks, known for their sleek, minimalist designs using wood skins—an essential touch in modern interiors.
The home also incorporates casement and picture windows, which differ from the traditional single- and double-hung styles found in country or craftsman homes. These windows use large, uninterrupted panes of glass that create a clean, open look with minimal visual obstruction.
Another unique element is the use of architectural aluminum door awnings over all exterior double doors. These square awnings not only elevate the home’s visual appeal but also offer practical weather protection for the entryways.

Luxury travel today is less about rigid formality and more about comfort, elegance, and personalized service. Gone are the days when dressing up meant tuxedos and gowns. Today, resort chic is becoming the norm—think linen pants, breezy dresses, and designer sandals that transition seamlessly from poolside lounging to fine dining.
This relaxed sophistication is reflected not only in wardrobe but in the atmosphere. Luxury travelers value experiences that feel exclusive yet welcoming, where attentive service makes every
moment effortless. Whether it’s a chilled towel after an excursion or a concierge who remembers your name, great service defines true luxury.
It’s not about being flashy or formal—it’s about feeling relaxed, seen, and indulged. That’s the new luxury.

Preparing your child for a new school Year
ARTICLE BY CHRISTINA MILLER OWNER & HEAD OF SCHOOL, MILLHOPPER MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Summertime can afford children the opportunity to sleep, play and blissfully run amok. Even if a child is enrolled in summer camp or traveling, their routine is changed, allowing for a much-needed respite. During the summer, children become recharged and teachers do, too. I always look forward to a new school year. There is a visceral reaction to a new cycle beginning, and those returning are eager to see themselves as students in the next grade up. Those entering school for the first time are heading into a brand-new territory full of anticipation and sometimes separation anxiety. Even older students can feel anxious when entering a new class or a new school. Separating from parents can be very emotional for young children entering school for the first time.
It can be difficult for the parents, too. I have found that a quick and happy goodbye is the best plan, even if you must put on an Oscar-winning performance. If you, as a parent, look worried or distraught, imagine how a small child will interpret that. Sometimes a child will enter the class without trepidation but will begin to cry and cling during the second week of school. This is also normal, as they are evaluating and testing to see how much control can be gained over the new routine. Reassure your children that it gets easier each day. It will. Don’t be surprised if, before long, your child doesn’t want to leave at pickup.
And have a great and memorable school year!
