LMS offers an authentic Montessori program from early childhood through high school, adhering to principles and scientific methods for your child’s development.

The elementary learning environment (grades 1-6) fosters independence and focus through individual or small group work, natural lighting, soft colors, and organized, accessible materials. New students quickly adapt to Montessori’s hands-on, interest-driven teaching. The classroom is a vibrant, happy community where students explore, create, and reflect, with teachers offering support and introducing new material as needed. Clear expectations are balanced with openended opportunities, promoting both comfort and inspiration for learning.

Our Secondary Montessori program serves 7th - 10th grade with expansion of grade levels each year.

We integrate rigorous academics with purposeful work, preparing students to become selfconfident, contributing adults. Our approach addresses adolescents’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and independence. Beyond challenging their intellect, compassion, diplomacy and collaboration are developed through personally experiencing human and nature interdependence. Students also learn business and entrepreneurship skills through hands-on participation in real economic activity provided by Laniakea’s micro-economy program.

We are accepting 3 new students to join our Secondary program. Students must have a strong work ethic with a positive behavior record.

Summer Travel and Adventure

As Summer seems to hum along at a slower pace, it’s the perfect time to come up with a bucket list of activities to enjoy and places to explore.  We are all guilty of getting caught up in the hectic day-to-day pace we all live in, but let’s leave some room for exploring, relaxing, traveling to far away exotic places (if we’re able to) and trying new places and things.

In this issue, we share some exciting travel journals from local business owners, and share with you some beautiful off-the-beaten path horse trails and adventurous day trips to explore.

Our hope is that this issue encourages you to make room for exploration and travel. To prioritize time away from the regular schedule of life. To lose yourself on a trail or book that trip you’ve been thinking about, and to make time for the things that matter most to you but often come last on the calendar.

I hope you’re able to enjoy some of the many things our area offers during these hot days of summer and that you make memories with those around you that you love.  Have a blessed and fun fourth of July, and see you around town!

INTERIOR DESIGN

An Exploration of Self and Space

Interior design is more than decorating a room—it’s an exploration of personal identity and lifestyle. As we travel, discover new cultures, or move through different life stages, our tastes evolve. Our homes should reflect that journey.

This season, designers encourage an adventurous approach to interiors. Global influences are trending— modern farmhouse warmth, Scandinavian minimalism, and Mediterranean rustic charm blend seamlessly, creating spaces that tell a story of exploration. Vintage maps, handcrafted textiles, and travel artifacts add authenticity and depth.

Exploring new layouts is just as important. Open floor plans, cozy reading nooks, and multi-functional spaces invite homeowners to rethink how they live. Even a bold splash of color or an unexpected art piece can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Ultimately, designing your home is a personal expedition—a celebration of where you’ve been, what you admire, and who you are becoming. In interior design, exploration never ends—it only deepens.

AXES MEET TOKYO

FROM GAINESVILLE TO TOKYO—BRINGING AXE THROWING WORLDWIDE

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY KRISTEN

Krissy Teets was proudly sponsored by BullMag to travel to Tokyo, Japan, for an international axe throwing tournament. The Japanese competitors were welcoming hosts— some fluent in English—which helped Krissy build strong connections. Between matches, she enjoyed sightseeing, disc golfing, and exploring amazing local cuisine. The trip was both a competitive and cultural experience, highlighting the global growth of the sport and the bonds it creates.

Back in February, Krissy Teets, assistant manager of Swamp Axe, traveled to Tokyo, Japan, as a brand ambassador for BullMag to participate in an axe throwing tournament. With only two full days in the country and 20 hours of travel each way, it was a whirlwind trip — but a deeply impactful one.

Despite the short stay, Krissy helped grow the sport of both axe and knife throwing abroad. “I’m already wishing to go back to Tokyo; a weekend is not enough time,” she shared. Thanks in part to the support of Japanese throwers fluent in English, Krissy was able to form meaningful connections with everyone she met — competitors who welcomed her with hospitality, camaraderie, and warmth.

She spent most of her time in Asakusa, where the tournament was held at The Axe Throwing Bar. Her hosts took her sightseeing, disc golfing, and to unforgettable food spots. She also made a quick trip to Shibuya to experience the iconic Shibuya Crossing and visit the Tokyo Disney Store.

Krissy was especially moved by Japan’s food culture. “Even food stands had incredible-tasting food. Sometimes I didn’t even know exactly what I was eating — but it was delicious.” Her hosts brought her to a sushi restaurant so devoted to food as art that photos weren’t allowed. The sushi was so fresh and expertly prepared that she joked it may have ruined American sushi for her.

She also had the chance to visit the historic Senso-Ji Temple, surrounded by gardens, shops, and food vendors. The trip may have been short, but it left a lasting impression — and strengthened the international community of axe throwers in the process.

Swimwear Confidence Starts with Fit

Expert advice helps women feel secure and stylish in swimsuits that flatter every body type.

For many women, shopping for a swimsuit is one of the most vulnerable experiences of the year. Kimberly Berger of Lion’s Lair Boutique knows this all too well. Her own struggle to find a suit that fit, led her to create a swimwear store dedicated to serving women over 30 years ago. She understands how exposing it can feel to wear less in public than you normally would and how the right swimsuit can turn insecurity into confidence.

With decades of swimwear expertise, Kimberly believes the perfect suit isn’t just about trends - it’s about fit, function and feeling great. Choosing the right style can conceal what you want hidden and highlight your favorite features. From highwaisted retro bottoms that smooth the tummy to high-cut legs and necklines that visually elongate the body, every detail makes a difference.

Quality construction prevents embarrassing mishaps in and out of the water. Bodies are buoyant, breasts float, and fabrics can become heavy when wet. That’s why choosing a suit with proper structure and support is critical. Look for brands that have bra-fit know-how and offer styles that maintain their shape and security when soaked. Your suit should look just as flattering in the water as it does when it is dry.

The best place to start? Mix-and-matching tops and bottoms allows you to create a custom look tailored to your unique shape. When possible, seek guidance from knowledgeable staff - being open to new styles can lead to surprisingly flattering results! Locally, Lion’s Lair Boutique’s offers personalized swimwear consultations with experienced fitters who help you navigate sizing, support and style with confidence. Wherever you shop, expert input can make all of the difference.

Swimwear should empower you, not limit you. With the right fit, fabric and guidance, you’ll step onto the sand or into the pool with confidence, and maybe even a little strut. Schedule a swimwear consultation www.LLSwim.com

Explore The World And Find Yourself

LIVING MY BEST LIFE THROUGH THE ADVENTURE OF TRAVEL

From the bluest of oceans and most winding of rivers to the deepest of canyons and tallest of mountains, travel allows us to take in the monumental, breathtaking sights of Mother Nature’s creations, millions of years in the making. Towering giants of rock, rows of hoodoos carved by wind and rain, and vast canyons as far as the eye can see reminds us not only of how small we are, but of how brief our time here is. But in that time, we can use her to explore ourselves; our courage, artistry, strength, resiliency and so much more.

Whether it’s a two-wheeled trek down Rocky Mountain terrain, kayaking pristine lakes at high altitudes, or standing at the edge of a vast ocean, these formations inspire awe and creativity as well as places for self-discovery. Among the red rocks just outside of Utah’s Canyonland National Park, there was no better place to discover things about myself than standing on the ledge of a stunning 400-foot canyon at the Moab Rope Swing finding the courage to face my fear of heights and jump.

Intense, paralyzing emotion held me captive for several minutes before my legs overruled my brain and set to accomplish the task. Mind blank, a rock floor rapidly approaching, until the swing caught hold. Then… empowerment. I knew there was nothing I couldn’t overcome. I also knew it was time to stop procrastinating when it came to living out my dreams.

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY DIANNA ULLERY AND DR. LAURA MCCHESNEY

Travel to state and national parks has been a huge part of my life since childhood and I have longed to do more. Work had limited my travels, until now. This summer, many more explorations lay ahead as I set out on a cross-country road trip. In August, I will follow a trek my parents took in 2001. My mother had kept a detailed journal of all of their trips. In them, she detailed not only the roads but their entire adventure, from restaurant meals and tours to the campgrounds with the site numbers they had reserved.

I look forward to re-enacting the trip, experiencing what they experienced. Navigating the same roads as my father in my truck and travel trailer. Fortunately, I was able to book a couple of nights at the very same campground and site number they had stayed in 24 years ago. Even a few of the restaurants are still around, so it looks like there will be a pizza night in Moab in my future.

Many friends are excited to live vicariously through me. So much so, I plan to set up a YouTube channel of my trip. I hope it will inspire them to live out dreams of their own. Our lifetime passes in a blink. There’s so much to explore and not nearly enough time to do it all. I’m sure this will be just the start of following in the tire tracks of my parents, exploring the country as I had always dreamed.

Who knows what adventures I may find or what new things I may learn about myself along the way. But that’s part of the fun.

Exploring Gainesville, FL House Plans

Popular Gainesville, FL House Plan trends in 2025 with Corey Amira of Amira Custom Homes

In 2025, we’re seeing a few standout features in almost every new custom home in Gainesville. Large windows are a top choice—they bring in tons of natural light and fresh air while adding balance and beauty to the home’s exterior. Window placement really matters and can make or break the look of your elevation.

Open floor plans are also in high demand. Nearly all of my clients want a big, open space where the kitchen, great room, and dining area all flow together. It’s perfect for entertaining and everyday living—no more chopped-up floor plans!

Storage is another big one. Think his and hers closets, massive walk-in pantries, and attic storage built into the trusses. People building their forever homes know how valuable that extra space is! https://amiracustomhomes.com/house-plans/

EXPLORE THE ABCS of CBD

TAKING A “DEEP DIVE” INTO CANNABIDIOL (CBD): LEGAL STATUS, HOW IT WORKS, AND CHOOSING SAFE PRODUCTS

Cannabidiol (CBD) has gained attention since becoming federally legal in 2018. Over-the-Counter CBD products derived from hemp plants are currently legal in Florida for clients 21 years old and older, as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC.

Interesting Facts:

1. CBD is NOT psychoactive and will not produce a “heady” feeling.

2. There are three types of CBD:

a. Isolate CBD: contains only CBD

b. Full-Spectrum CBD: contains a mixture of cannabinoids and terpenes,      and can contain THC.

c. Broad-Spectrum CBD: contains a mixture of cannabinoids and terpenes, but no THC

3. CBD can be applied topically and taken orally.

4. CBD is generally well tolerated at normal dosing.

5. The endocannabinoid system in our bodies is responsive to CBD, resulting in many noticeable health benefits.

6. Studies on CBD products have shown significant issues with label accuracy, contamination with heavy metals/pesticides, and inconsistent CBD content.

It is important to find a reputable source for CBD; one that conducts top-quality third-party testing.

Hydration Is Vital!

Water helps regulate body temperature, maintain physical performance, flush out toxins, support cognitive function, prevent heat-related illnesses, aid in digestion, and promote recovery.

To stay properly hydrated:

• Drink water 2–3 hours before outdoor activity.

• Sip water every 15–20 minutes during the activity.

• Rehydrate afterward with water or an electrolyte drink. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty—by then, dehydration has already begun.

Raising the Roofing Standard

Delivering Craftsmanship, Integrity, and Care from Quote to Cleanup

In a profit-driven industry, Liebler & Liebler Contracting is proving that excellence and ethics can go hand in hand. Specializing in roofing, solar, and gutters, this Floridabased company offers more than services—they deliver trust.

“We treat every home like it’s our own,” says General Manager Bryce Palmbach. That commitment eliminates shortcuts and ensures every project is done right the first time.

While competitors reuse materials and push gimmicky warranties, L&L stands firm on quality.

“We never compromise safety or longevity,” Bryce adds. Their crews replace old components like flashing and ventilation with new materials—always.

Clients also experience direct, hands-on communication from leadership throughout each job. No middlemen. No surprises.

Beyond outstanding work, L&L often includes structural upgrades that enhance durability—helping homeowners qualify for lower insurance premiums, all at no extra cost.

L&L isn’t just fixing roofs— they’re raising expectations. With transparency, grit, and care at the core, they’re redefining what roofing can be.

Summer, A Time to Explore and Play

Summertime is a wonderful opportunity for parents to explore and play with their children.

For children, summertime is synonymous with exploration and play. Play is an act of imagining. When children go outside to run, skip, and jump, they create a different form of knowing.

The benefits children receive from the hands-on play process are true for adults too and it creates wonderful moments of togetherness which is understood as quality time, and you may find you awaken your own inner child.

Hands-on creative play can come through open-ended reusable materials such as fabric, ribbons, buttons, plastic caps, straws, toothpicks, washers, wire, wood, mat board, foam, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, etc. Many of these supplies can be gathered by a family over time and kept in plastic bins with lids. Many local businesses have supplies they can no longer use, and it can be quite fun to search for these things with your children. Creating a “maker

space” in your home of supplies in bins is easy to do.

Summer is also a great time for nature walks and living in the moment. Children are curious and have a natural desire to explore the world around them and are continuously discovering new environments, and ideas that shape their understanding of the world.

The discovery process is a cornerstone of childhood development. Through play, observation, and experimentation, they learn about cause and effect, relationships, and their own capabilities. This process often requires open-ended exploration, encouraging problem-solving skills and inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

Exploring nature with your child;: An introduction to the enjoyment and understanding of nature Hardcover by Dorothy Edwards Shuttlesworth  is a wonderful resource for exploring nature in a safe and appropriate way.

Enjoy your time with your children this summer and rediscover your own inner child.
