In Texas, Twinkies Mean Terrific Food

Welcome fall!

With the changing seasons comes a change in what we're craving, and with fall that often means comfort food. October is our most delectable edition of the year, filled with some of our favorite dishes and beverages around town. We had the pleasure of checking in with the Omni PGA Frisco Resort's team regarding their wide range of varied dining options, so get your taste buds ready. You're in for a treat, especially at Randy's Steakhouse with their signature Blackberry Filet Mignon.

The smells of fall bring memories to my mind of sitting in my family's kitchen, and the aroma of cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, chili and soups of any kind brings me right back to that table.

There's definitely an art to creating a flavorful dish that not only satisfies our taste but evokes memories. The aroma of certain spices and foods can bring us right back to our childhood, which can be incredibly powerful and comforting. Food brings us all together, and whether we are sharing a meal with loved ones or enjoying a night out on the town, the time spent while enjoying food is invaluable.

As always, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you nibbling and noshing around town!

FarmHaus Catering By Five Star Event Services

Delivers Fare From Scratch Ingredients

“We take great pride in developing unique menus that are sure to impress guests,” says founder/CEO owner-operator Jason Lewis.

“With a touch of stylish flair, we use the freshest, seasonal produce and high-quality ingredients to create exquisite dishes from scratch.

Our commitment to using only the finest ingredients ensures truly exceptional dining experiences,” adds Jason.

When Jason references fresh produce, he means just-harvested from his own personal farm, located on the outskirts of downtown McKinney and the border of New Hope. “Currently, our farm operation consists of microgreens, selling fresh farm eggs (during this February, the team announced they “couldn’t keep up with their wonderful, hard-working hens”) and eight supplemental produce planters for all our fresh herbs, variety of peppers, tomatoes and vegetables,” he explains.

Jason and FarmHaus managing partner Jairo Sandoval bought the farm during September 2022, and he says it’s been operational during the last year, supplying great food items to their catering business. “We source all of our catering Ingredients fresh daily, so being able to integrate our own farm fresh ingredients is truly a farm to table experience.”

He says clients who come to the farm for tastings love to play with their resident chickens, which they lovingly call “the Founding Feathers.”

In addition to catering services, they also offer a comprehensive range of rental options for seamless event planning.

“No matter the occasion, whether it be an elaborate wedding, a corporate event, a

backyard barbecue, or an intimate gathering, our team is ready to cater to every need. We strive for exceeding our clients’ expectations so we can create unforgettable memories for them and their guests,” promises Jason.

THE ORIGINAL TEXAS TWINKIES

Hutchins BBQ Proudly Serves Up Lil' Nuggets Of Jalapeño Joy

Celebrate National Texas Twinkie Day with Hutchins BBQ on Oct. 16!

“Our mouthwatering Original Texas Twinkies are complete with a large jalapeño, stuffed with brisket and cream cheese, and wrapped in premium thick-cut bacon,” says Hutchins BBQ co-owner/president Tim Hutchins. “They’re so good, we had to create a holiday to celebrate them.”

The Hutchins’ team even made a video titled: “How It’s Made: The Original Texas Twinkie!”

Hutchins BBQ introduced Texas Twinkies in 2014 and have sold thousands of them since. This unique popper is available to anyone in the entire United States, a dozen for $95, along with all of Hutchins’ smoked brisket, sausage, rubs and apparel. Shipments go out every Tuesday morning, with a two-day delivery zone from the ship date. Twinkies arrive at customers’ doors, vacuum-sealed and semi-frozen, to be reheated.

Jalapeño poppers are rumored to have been invented in Texas, many decades ago; wrapped in bacon or sausage, they went by the name “armadillo eggs.” However, many locals credit Hutchins for putting them squarely on modern-day’s popularity map.

“We call ours the ‘original’ Texas Twinkies because, to our knowledge, we were the first to insert brisket inside the poppers,” reveals Hutchins BBQ co-owner/vice president Trey Hutchins. “We now sell 8,000 to 10,000 Twinkies a week.”

Trey says they hand-pick the jalapeños from Mexican markets in the area. “Each one must be the size of a pork rib, so it takes some effort to source our peppers and only so many make the cut,” he adds.

Regarding this month’s national observation: “Don’t be shy, get yourself a bite of Texas perfection!” exclaims Tim.

SER VI NG UP S OUP

Fall’s most notable comfort meal

CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP

This hearty chicken noodle soup is the perfect comfort food that is packed with nutritious goodness. This pairs perfectly with homemade beer bread or a sourdough loaf.

INGREDIENTS:

• 8 cups chicken broth (add more if desired)

• Whole fryer chicken, cut in chunks or shredded

• 5 celery stalks, sliced

• 8 carrots, sliced

• ½ onion diced

• 4 tablespoons butter

• 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

• ¼ cup half and half (optional)

• 1 package egg noodles

• Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

In a large stock pot, add 8 cups of chicken broth. Dice carrots, celery and onion and add to the broth. Bring to a boil, and reduce to medium heat until the vegetables are soft. In the meantime, skin and cube 1 whole fryer chicken and add to the stock pot. Next, add egg noodles (frozen Reames homemade egg noodles are my favorite) and let boil until noodles are cooked. Add butter, half and half, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Simmer on low until ready to serve.

ASSET PROTECTION

Asset protection planning involves making prudent decisions today to protect yourself, your business, and your hard-earned assets from loss due to lawsuits, creditors or bankruptcies.
