THE PATRIOT CUP On Saturday, February 17, 2018, GEICO will present the Patriot Cup, at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco for its 10th annual tournament. As the saying goes, "The show must go on!" Even though there is not a set date of completion for a central Frisco Arts meeting place, Frisco can still enjoy the various arts from local painters, musicians and other artists. In fact, the growth in 2017 was so large, that it grew it's membership numbers at an astounding 700%! Local spots that Frisco artists use have been areas to exhibit their work. The Frisco Walk for instance was held at Hall Park. Local musicians and artists were given a chance to showcase their talents. The Star held a remarkable Opera that The Dallas Opera worked in conjunction with Frisco to hold a opera at The Star Football Stadium. The local City Council Chambers are used regularly to display local painters work, etc. as well. In 2018, Frisco Arts is excited to grow even more. Our very own, Frisco Life magazine has partnered with the Frisco Arts producing a quarterly concert series called the 2018 Red Carpet Concert Series. These four performances will be held at The Lincoln Experience Center inside The Star. Each concert will offer intimate performances from world-class musicians and visual artists. There will be food, beverages and an after-party opportunity to meet the musicians and artists for each event. In fact, looking for a perfect Valentine's Date idea? Come to the first installment of the 2018 Red Carpet Concert Series, entitled 1000 Roses. This is a Red Carpet event that will feature violinist Gary Levinson and his wife, Dr. Daredjan Baya Kakouberi, a pianist who will create an intimate and exciting experience for you and your valentine. FRISCO ARTS LOVING OUR HOBBIES CAN BE A PASSION IN OUR LIVES; WHEN WE CAN MAKE OUR PASSION OUR CAREERS, THAT IS A TRUE GIFT. Milessa Murphy Stewart has been able to do just that. At the young age of 10, Milessa began painting art pieces and hasn't stopped. She is a Modern Impressionist and what many of us need more of - phones out of sight and distractions removed, she paints Dreamscapes. As she stated, "With all the negativity in life, I try to bring in the other side of life - the happy and positive into each of my paintings." Throughout her career she has continued to hit different milestones. She is featured in Frisco's Fine Arts Gallery, her popular piece, "Because It Matters" is a tribute to the fifty eight individuals killed in the 2017 Las Vegas Masacre. The butterflies represent the victims as angels. The Red Poppie flowers in the painting represent the fallen. This will be showcased at the 2018 Art Expo in Las Vegas where nearly fifty thousand people will attend to view only one hundred artist's work across the country. FRISCO, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SUSHI AND FUN, AND YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS PLACE YET, STRAP IN. You're going to want to jump in your car and head to The Star after reading this. Sushi Marquee is a newly opened restaurant located at 3625 The Star Boulevard, Suite 315. This is not your everyday sushi bar. Owner and CEO, Dallas Hale, alongside his partner and best friend, Brad Hawkins wanted to make sure this sushi restaurant stood out from the rest. Having visited concepts of this type, specifically in Los Angeles, Brad brought the idea back to Dallas to convince him of this business venture. Dallas Hale had started out in the restaurant/bar scene since the early 90's, and through his industry background knew this sounded like a great idea. Just as all businesses opening at The Star must do, Hale and Hawkins met with the Jones' in order to get approval of their restaurant concept. To no surprise, The Jones' loved the concept and signed off on the approval to place it inside The Star. Brad and Dallas lucked out on getting a prime spot alongside The Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor area on Star Blvd. CONTINUED >

When asking Dallas what makes Sushi Marquee stand out from other sushi places, he stated it is the experience. Sushi Marquee has for instance, a video wall that plays music from the 80's - 2000's. As Dallas mentioned, "You could be enjoying your sushi rolls and Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" will start playing. (Are you in your car yet?) The staff at Sushi Marquee is interactive with the patrons. There is a Saki Bomb area where patrons wanting to enjoy Saki will be cheered on enthusiastically with, "Saki! Saki! Saki!" And yes, there is an awesome three thousand foot patio that overlooks Star Boulevard. But how is the food? That's probably what you're asking, right? It is top-notch.They work with some of the top sushi chefs in the world, including a celebrity chef, Patrick Starr on their Frisco menu. With mouth-watering endless options of different sushi rolls, Sashimi and Sushi platters that will leave you coming back for more. Even though their menu consists of around seventy-percent sushi items, they do understand that some patrons won't have a taste for it. No need to worry - they have you covered with several non-sushi items on their menu that will leave your taste buds satisfied. From their Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Teriyaki Chicken, Beef, or their famous Lamb Lollipops. This happens to be head Chef, Johnny Walker's favorite dish because as he stated, "The sauce used is from one of my favorite dishes that I learned how to make during my internship at the Blue Door at Delano in South Beach Miami." After visiting Sushi Marquee, you will have had a fun-filled experience in Frisco with delicious food and cocktails. From-Scratch Pasta Yield: 1 pound WHAT YOU NEED
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting 4 large eggs WHAT YOU DO
1. Mound the flour in the center of a work surface with a well in the middle. Crack the eggs into the well and beat with a fork until smooth, then work flour into eggs with the fork. Use a bench scraper to work in the rest of the flour a little at a time. When the flour is incorporated, form the dough with your hands into a rounded mass for kneading. Lightly dust your workspace with flour and knead dough about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Cover dough with a bowl or plastic wrap and rest 1 1/2 hours, or chill overnight. 2. To roll by hand, flour a clean work surface. Vigorously roll dough to a very thin circle and roll constantly with even pressure as it stretches for several minutes until as thin as possible, almost translucent. 3. To cut by hand, lightly fold sheets one at a time into thirds and cut to desired thickness. Recipe from MarthaStewart.com.

Dark Chocolate Truffles WHAT YOU NEED
1/2 cup heavy cream 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1 cup cocoa powder, for dusting WHAT YOU DO
1. Bring the cream to just a simmer in a saucepan over low heat. Pour the cream over the chocolate in a bowl and let stand about 10 minutes to melt the chocolate. Add the vanilla, stir until smooth and set aside to cool for 1 hour at room temperature. 2. Beat chocolate at medium speed until thick and light-colored. Spread over the bottom of a baking dish, smooth and refrigerate 2 hours until firm. 3. Pour cocoa powder onto a deep plate or shallow bowl, and using a melon baller or small ice cream scoop, scoop out balls of chocolate. Roll in cocoa powder until coated and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Recipe from FoodNetwork.com.

Dog Biscuits INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup creamy natural peanut butter 1/2 cup 100 percent pure pumpkin puree 1 cup water 2 tablespoons of coconut oil 3 cups of whole wheat flour
INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. 3. In a large bowl, add the peanut butter, pumpkin, flour, water and coconut oil. There is no need to melt the coconut oil, solid is fine. 4. Mix until all ingredients are combined. 5. Knead the dough until it forms a big ball. 6. Flatten the dough ball either with your fingers or with a rolling pin. Spread the dough out to approximately 1/4-inch in thickness. 7. Press your cookie cutter into the dough and cut out the biscuit. 8. Place it on the parchment-lined baking sheet. 9. Place in oven and bake for about 30 minutes. 10. Cool on wire rack. 11. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. If your dog has a wheat sensitivity, you can switch out the flour to an oat, rice or coconut flour.
