of meeting many incredible people in Frisco's business community. Without exception, these businesses demonstrate their heart and determination to succeed each day. More importantly, they show their commitment to serving the residents of Frisco. This holiday shopping season will require some creative purchasing decisions that include buying earlier than ever before and perhaps driving across town to ensure you find that special gift. That said, we have an incredible partner who will take care of your "reTurns" (GetreTurn.co). Supply chain issues will provide you with added motivation to support our local businesses. One example of this is Frisco Mercantile, and I want to offer a special thanks to their team for allowing us to photograph some of their festive displays for this issue. Many of us love traditions, and the holidays provide opportunities to continue older, more established ones, as well as create new ones. One of my family's favorites is driving around Frisco and looking at Christmas lights. I'm amazed at the extravagant lengths some families go to and often wonder if they realize how much their

THE DRIPBAR TO OPEN IN FRISCO The Dripbar, a health center administering IV infusions, is slated to open yet this year in Frisco at 3333 Preston Road, Suite 138701. This will be owner Kishore Reddy Rollakanti’s first location. The Rhode Island-based franchise specializes in intravenous therapy that provides nutrients and hydration directly into the bloodstream. Treatments range from slowing signs of aging to reducing brain fog and boosting energy. Each session ranges in price from $100 to $200. Clients may choose from 18 different IV drips, including the “Flu Fighter” regarding common colds, and “High C,” typically for current or former cancer patients. Those who don’t have time for full vitamin infusions can choose one of seven “quick shots that give the body an added boost,” says Chief Development Officer Ben Crosbie. Shannon Petteruti, CEO and founder of THE DRIPBaR, says, “COVID-19 created a new understanding in people that they need to be as healthy as they can be. Health care is no longer a passive activity, where people wait for an illness to strike and then react to it. People want to be proactive."

CITY SCENE FRISCO POLICE CHIEF DAVID SHILSON AND OFFICERS: PROTECTING PERSONAL SAFETY, POSSESSIONS, COMMUNITIES

Holiday Safety Vigilence Tips ARTICLE JULIE BROWN PATTON

What are the most common mistakes people make during busy holiday schedules that leave them vulnerable for personal safety?

SEASONAL TIPS FOR ORGANIZED NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH GROUPS: Neighborhood Watch programs are known to instill a greater sense of security, well-being, and to reduce fear of crime in communities.

How can individuals deter pickpockets and purse-snatchers? If carrying handbags, don't lay them on the counter or leave them in shopping carts unattended. If you do leave them in a shopping cart, consider using the baby seat strap to buckle them in. Try not to carry large sums of money.

Frisco Life | December 2021

Watch meetings is a great way to communicate safety precautions during this holiday season.

What should Frisco residents do when strangers approach the door of their residences? Identify who is at the door prior to opening it. If it's an unknown person, a great way to communicate is through a door camera's intercom feature. Report any suspicious person or behavior to the Frisco Police Departments non-emergency line 972.292.6010.

How is it best to handle personal deliveries to avoid porch thefts? If possible, be at home when the package is delivered and immediately take it inside. If the package will be left unattended for a period of time, ask a neighbor you trust to secure the package until you get home.

Is there a challenge with too many valuables being left in cars and trucks, even while parked in driveways? When looking at a criminal offense, there are three factors: desire, target/victim and opportunity for the crime. By removing valuables from vehicles and ensuring your vehicle is locked, that eliminates a significant opportunity for a crime to be committed.

What precautions can residents take if they're leaving their homes for an extended period during the holiday? Residents can register their home for the Frisco Police Department's House Watch Program, which is designed for residents who will NOT have anyone (such as pet sitters, someone watering plants/checking the residence) at their home while they're away for a period of two weeks or less: FriscoPD.com/HouseWatch

Are there any recent phone or online scams, being executed in the name of charities, of which Frisco residents should be aware? Be cautious of unsolicited phone calls, mailing and door-to-door service offers. Never give money or provide personal identifying information to a person or institution that you're not familiar with. If you are victimized, call your financial institutions and report the incident online at FriscoPD.com or call the police non-emergency line 972.292.6010.

GIVING BACK

Gratefully

ARTICLE ALLISON GIBESON PHOTOGRAPHY JANIE JONES

GIVING AWAY AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN LAST YEAR, LIFESTYLE PUBLICATIONS IS GIVING $300,000 TO RECIPIENTS IN NEED THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON AND BEYOND... AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

ABOUT SIX YEARS AGO ANNA SAROL, THE DAUGHTER OF A SINGLE MOTHER, WAS PARALYZED IN A GYMNASTICS ACCIDENT WHEN SHE WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL, BUT UNTIL LAST YEAR SHE DID NOT HAVE A STAIRLIFT IN HER HOME. The stairlift was made possible when Lifestyle Publications gave her family $10,000. “I watched my community come together to help me get this equipment to my house, and words can’t explain how appreciative my

family and I are,” Anna says. The money for Anna’s stairlift was part of a giveaway campaign from the company during the 2020 Christmas season that benefited more than 80 recipients across the country with a final distribution of $250,000 throughout the year. When the company opened nominations, they were flooded with submissions. Community leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you nominated people that were in need of assistance. As the eyes and ears of the community, these readers were able to help identify people who might have

otherwise gone unnoticed or unrecognized. One such nominee was Kathy*, an aunt who is raising her three young relatives. The children came from an abusive situation, and Kathy, a single guardian, works tirelessly to provide for them. Nevertheless, the family was already living in poverty despite her working seven days a week when Kathy lost her job during the pandemic. She resorted to selling tamales to help pay the rent. When a case manager with a Big Brothers Big Sisters foster youth mentoring program heard about Lifestyle’s campaign and call for nominations, she quickly thought of Kathy. “When I shared the news that Kathy was selected and would be receiving $3,000, she cried, screamed, and was in disbelief,” the case manager said. “She immediately wanted to give back to me and the donor by providing endless tamales. This funding allowed the children to have a small Christmas tree for the first time ever. Kathy was able to pay her rent and utilities for three months, and the children were able to experience a holiday season in peace without financial stressors.” In yet another case, Emily* who worked as a janitor at a school, was a recipient and was struggling to afford simply buying groceries for her children. Before the ongoing difficulties of the pandemic even started, a tornado destroyed the school she worked at just a couple weeks before the initial shutdown in March 2020 which resulted in a loss of income for her. Emily was incredibly surprised and grateful to receive assistance from the giveaway. *Names changed for privacy
