The Style Issue

EDH in Style

Bidding farewell to summer can often be bittersweet, so let’s welcome fall in style with our first annual “Fashion and Style” issue, exploring the fascinating world of self-expression!  Style can encompass both fashion choices and the way we carry ourselves, blending aesthetics with personality.  It’s dynamic, evolving with trends and personal growth, yet timeless in its ability to convey confidence and creativity.  As iconic fash ion designer Diane von Furstenberg once said, "Style is something each of us already has, all we need to do is find it.”

Many of us have that story about a piece of clothing or a pair of shoes we longed for in our youth, imagining it would transform us into who we wanted to be. For me, it was a multicolor-blocked suede jacket that I desperately wanted.  Receiving it on my 14th birthday was unforgettable. I vividly remember the pride and confidence I felt as I wore it to school for the first time, basking in the compliments from friends. At that moment, I felt invincible. It's amazing how a perfectly crafted piece of fabric can evoke such powerful feelings.

This September, embrace your style with us right here in our neighborhood!  First, explore the world of couture reveling in timeless fashions from a local shop owner whose exquisite taste and style expertise can help elevate your wardrobe to the next level.  Next, join us on a journey through town as we showcase the latest fall fashions with local ladies for every occasion.  Choosing your vehicle can also be an extension of your style. Meet two remarkable gentlemen who have enhanced the car buying and selling experience with their chic new shop in Town Center.

Style is deeply personal, evolving as we embrace our quirks, passions, and desires. In this upcoming autumn season of transformation, stay true to yourself. Remember, there's no one quite like you, dear reader.

TIMELESS COUTURE

KENDRA YOUNGER SHARES HOW TO INCORPORATE COUTURE INTO YOUR WARDROBE.

In the ever-evolving world of fashion, where trends come and go with the seasons, there remains a steadfast admiration for timeless style and vintage couture. Timeless fashion is defined by pieces that withstand the test of time, maintaining their appeal and relevance regardless of changing trends. Owner of Renaissance Fine Consignment located in El Dorado Hills Town Center, Kendra Younger, says “Timeless fashion incorporates pieces we will see again by the same designer or redone by new designers. The items you consistently reach for, known as ‘staple items,’ such as neutral colors of black, brown, beige, and ivory that go with anything.”

Think classic silhouettes, high-quality materials, and impeccable craftsmanship; the little black dress, the tailored blazer, or the perfectly fitted trench coat. These items are foundational in any wardrobe and are often handmade or crafted with meticulous attention to detail by renowned designers and fashion houses. Brands like Tom Ford, Christian Dior, and Versace - to name a fewhave mastered this art. A Chanel tweed jacket, a Louis Vuitton monogram handbag, or a pair of Valentino heels are not just fashion items; they are investments in style and quality.

A classic vintage item can be dressed up or down, making it a versatile addition to any wardrobe. For instance, a Burberry trench coat can be paired with jeans for a casual look or worn over an evening dress for a more formal occasion.

Unlike fast fashion, vintage couture pieces often appreciate in value over time. A retro Prada handbag, an iconic Gucci belt, or a classic Chanel suit can become valuable collector’s items. “Currently, Chanel has become a hot commodity, and Renaissance is the only store within hundreds of miles to carry Chanel pieces,” Kendra adds.

Incorporating vintage couture into your wardrobe doesn’t mean you need to break the bank. It’s about choosing wisely and investing in pieces that you will wear for years to come. Shopping at fine consignment shops like Renaissance can help with affordability for those couture pieces you’re eyeing. Kendra and her team hope to educate women that owning luxury doesn’t have to be expensive. Their service is personalized to each customer, offering individual attention and style tips to those seeking a unique experience.

“Personal style and self-expression are within each of us,” Kendra says. Clothing carries stories that are brought to life by the wearer. A dress might recall a special occasion or a suit signify a career milestone. Marc Jacobs says it all in his famous quote, “Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them.”

Renaissance Fine Consignment

Renaissance caters to high-end luxury pieces for women seeking sustainable fashion, timeless couture, or that special statement piece at affordable prices. Established in 2017 in Santa Barbara, Renaissance's flagship location is on State Street in La Arcada Plaza and has been quoted as “stepping into a Vogue Magazine” by various customers.  In 2023, they expanded a smaller version of what they carry to El Dorado Hills, Town Center.  The space was chosen when owner, Kendra Younger, and her family moved back up north to be closer to family in 2021.  Renaissance Santa Barbara is still operating and select pieces are even sent to El Dorado Hills so stylish women can get a taste of Southern California couture. Relationship Driven A EXPERIENCE

Customer ValueBeyond Expectations

When David Del Dotto and Adam Van Coops opened EDH Motors in Town Center recently, they brought 40-plus years of car-sales experience with them - enough to motivate them, as the saying goes, to challenge conventions.  As a concierge auto lounge, EDH Motors is a relationship-based business, fostering rapport with clients, suppliers, financiers, and the community itself.

Adam Van Coops and David Del Dotto

EDH Motors provides services that include new-vehicle brokerage, pre-owned sales and consignment. The inventory of cars will feature highline, exotic, classic, specialty, energy-efficient and more, depending on customers’ needs.

“From first car to dream car,” says Del Dotto, who notes that they pull from their vast network all around the state and country to find the perfect ride for each client.

Del Dotto, originally from Roseville, began his career at Stevens Creek Auto Row in San Jose, rapidly ascending the dealership hierarchy to become general manager by age 28.  Van Coops, meanwhile, says he “chose the car business with complete disapproval from my parents.” At first, he volunteered his time at Luxury Motorcars in Sacramento to learn the business (while working for an actual paycheck at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center). Eventually he graduated to a paid position, then moved to The Niello Company, where in 2007 he met Del Dotto at the then-new Maserati showroom. Del Dotto was general sales manager; Van Coops was in his sales department. During the seven years they worked together, they each took proverbial notes on how they would operate their own dealership. They hung onto those dreams as they moved separately into different positions within the automotive industry and beyond.

“It has been a lifelong dream to own my own dealership,” says Van Coops. “After being in systems and corporations, you learn a lot about what to do and what not to do. You learn what clients truly value—both team members and customers. To truly value people and being dedicated to serving them and the community is why EDH Motors was born.”

The client might begin by sitting in the EDH Motors lounge (an inviting, upscale space with well-cushioned chairs) talking about needs and wants, sharing stories over a beverage and discussing options. There’s no pressure or discomfort, no tromping around a hot lot. “You’re dealing directly with the owners, no middleman,” says Del Dotto, citing time savings and a sense of "relationship versus transaction” as key benefits. For him, the human connection and community aspect of the business is his favorite part. For Van Coops, it’s “being able to provide an amazing experience to a process that most people detest.” For the majority of people, he says, a car is the second-largest purchase they’ll make (after a house). He likes that EDH Motors can make it a celebration rather than a burden. Removing the burden includes such practical matters as assisting with financing, rebates, lease rates—even payoffs and trade-ins on previous vehicles. With new-vehicle purchases, they can locate the right car at the right price. “We have created relationships that allow us to negotiate with multiple dealerships,” says Van Coops. Meanwhile, on the consignment side of the house, they

can make selling a previously loved car much more pleasant (and lucrative) than selling it privately or haggling over its value elsewhere.

The two men deeply appreciate the community of El Dorado Hills and all it brings to their lives. Del Dotto and his wife have three sons—one’s at Oak Ridge High School; the other two attend Jackson Elementary. Van Coops, who has a 6-year-old son, enjoys the rural and suburban mix of El Dorado Hills, and “the love and ownership the community has for its town.” They plan to remain active in the community, “to till the dirt, plant the seeds and water the fields, to bear the fruit,” says Del Dotto. To which Van Coops adds, “Our innovation is our lack of innovation, going back to the simplicity of human nature to build relationships.”
