For many women, scheduling a breast cancer screening feels like an emotional hurdle—one that comes with discomfort, anxiety, and sometimes even fear. The thought of cold compression plates, radiation exposure, and the uncertainty of results can be enough to deter some from making that crucial appointment. But what if breast cancer screening didn’t have to feel this way?

At the heart of Qlarity’s mission is a deep understanding of what women need in a medical setting: reassurance, comfort, and accuracy. Danielle Farias, Director & Lead Technician of Qlarity Breast Imaging, shares, “The FDA-cleared QTscan is a revolution in breast cancer screening. It’s radiation-free and compression-free and a similar imaging tool to an MRI.
The scan sends ultra low-frequency sound waves through the breast tissue and generates a true 3D rendering of the breast for the radiologist to review.”
Unlike traditional mammograms, which can be especially challenging for women with dense breast tissue or implants (which can sometimes hide trouble), the QTscan provides remarkably clear imaging, which stands to improve early detection rates without adding unnecessary stress for the patient. “The sensitivity of the QTscan is over 90% as opposed to a mammogram’s 47%, and the false positive rate is much lower than any other screening modality at only 11%,” Farias explains. This means fewer unnecessary biopsies and follow-up tests.
Many women come to Qlarity Breast Imaging looking for an additional opinion if an area of concern does appear to have suspicious qualities, or if it’s more seemingly benign. “One way we can determine this is through the scan’s unique doubling time, which does not exist with other screening modalities. If there is an area of concern that the radiologist wants to follow up on, then a recommendation to return in six months will be written on the report. Within that time frame, we can assess if the doubling time of the area of concern is within a benign or malignant rate, and if further evaluation is recommended or surveillance is appropriate,” says Farias.
Farias also explains that “for women as young as 18 who have a family history of breast cancer, QTscan is a safe and proactive option that enables them to receive early monitoring without exposure to radiation at such an early stage in their lives.” For others, it’s a chance to take control of their health in a space that values their comfort and well-being. Women in the Folsom and El Dorado Hills communities may be surprised to learn that this type of imaging is available right in their own backyard. “Currently there are only eight clinics in the entire US that offer the QTscan,” says Farias. By bringing cutting-edge screening technology to this region, Qlarity makes it easier than ever for women in our area to stay on top of their health without unnecessary stress.

Farias explains the process. “Appointments last about an hour, beginning with a one-on-one conversation with me to discuss your breast health history. During the scan, the patient lies comfortably on their stomach as I guide the patient into the best positioning. A small magnet is then attached to the patient and they are slowly lowered into body-temperature water. The magnet connects to a rod to stabilize the breast while the scan captures detailed images using sound waves for a gentle, comfortable process. The scan itself
takes about 10 to 15 minutes per breast, and results are typically available within one to two weeks. If an area of concern is identified, Qlarity ensures a personal follow-up with clear next steps. If all is stable, the patient can return in a year.”

On Sunday, May 11, families will celebrate mothers—the women who have given life and love to children and adults (and pets too). Biological mothers, adoptive mothers, expectant mothers, chosen mothers—this day on the calendar is just for them. What better way to honor your favorite mom than to throw a Mother’s Day brunch? Whether it’s held outdoors on a bright sunny day or indoors away from pollen and potential heat, a successful gathering must include stunning décor. Brandie Wallace, event specialist with El Dorado Hills Party Rentals, knows how to create a beautiful space for Mom and all the guests to enjoy a midday feast.
“A well-designed tablescape for a small, intimate event should feel personal and visually cohesive,” says Wallace, noting that key elements would include a carefully chosen tablecloth or runner to anchor the design theme, as well as a low centerpiece (think: short vase of flowers or candles, perhaps some eucalyptus) that enables guests to hold a conversation across the table without leaning around a towering behemoth. Add to that some pretty plates, flatware and glassware. “Incorporate candles for soft lighting,” Wallace suggests, “and add personal touches like custom name cards or small keepsakes.”
Another important element: fresh flowers and greenery. Because Mother’s Day falls right smack in the middle of spring, adding touches such as bright floral blooms and grassy greens lends a seasonal flavor. “A cohesive color palette ties everything together, creating a welcoming and memorable atmosphere for the event,” says Wallace.
For Mother’s Day, Wallace advises choosing a color scheme that reflects warmth and celebration. “Soft pastels like pink, lavender, and mint green evoke tenderness, while a floral theme with fresh blooms adds a vibrant touch,” she says.

To create a cohesive and stylish look, Wallace advises, mixing and matching tableware by coordinating patterns or textures— for example, floral plates and solid bowls. “Layer linens, such as a linen tablecloth with coordinating napkins, and mix neutral tones with bold accents,” she says, noting that a balance of textures results in an elegant, tied-together table setting.

Flowers have a rich history of symbolic meanings. As far back as the 19th century, they were used to convey secret messages. Stories throughout history recount how flowers were used to send hidden messages between people. French publishers began producing flower dictionaries that cataloged the many floral codes that had been gathered over time. Some of these meanings were linked to the flower’s root name, often derived from mythology, while others were drawn from the flowers themselves. The colors, medicinal properties, and even the superstitions associated with these flowers all contributed to the creation of this secret language. In addition to their symbolic significance, flowers bring natural beauty to any interior, enhancing spaces with their color, texture, and mood-boosting qualities. Floral arrangements not only create a cozy atmosphere but also infuse a room with personality, elevating the overall ambiance. There are multiple ways to creatively integrate florals into your home, and whether using fresh or artificial flowers, creative displays can make quite the statement piece.

Using a frog to display flowers creates a minimalist yet elegant look that highlights the individuality of each bloom. It helps the stems stay in place. To set it up, place the frog on your chosen display base, whether it’s a vase, bowl, platter, or any container you prefer. Then, simply insert the flower stems by gently pressing them into the prongs.
