EDH MOTORS PUTS A NEW SPIN ON CLASSIC TRUCKS

The Gentlemen’s Edition

Gentleman It’s a word that carries timeless weight, evoking notions of character, courtesy, quiet confidence, and unmistakable style.

As we put together this issue, I kept thinking about the men in my life who’ve shaped how I move through the world: the grandpa who taught me the value of a firm handshake and a warm hug; the uncle who showed me that style isn’t just about what you wear, but how you carry yourself; and my husband, who’s demonstrated that real strength lies in showing up with confidence, integrity, and humility. These are the inspiring kind of men we wanted to celebrate this month.

Inside these pages are stories of craftsmanship and community, style and adventure. From a local shop redefining the car scene to a quiet cigar lounge where connection happens one conversation at a time, we’re highlighting the qualities that define the modern man: thoughtful, curious, and unafraid to slow down and savor the good things in life.

Cheers to the men who live with purpose, who lead with graciousness, and who remind us that being a gentleman never goes out of style.

EDH Motors puts a new spin on classic trucks

Classic vehicles have a unique way of telling stories—each one a rolling testament to craftsmanship, character, and time. The right vintage truck is more than a collectible; it’s about appreciating design and details that endure, setting the tone for a whole new kind of automotive experience.

That experience is exactly what EDH Motors delivers. Quickly becoming a go-to destination for those in search of something special, owners David Del Dotto and Adam Van Coops are rethinking the way people buy and sell cars, putting community, relationships, and transparency at the forefront. Their deep industry expertise and passion for all things automotive are evident in every aspect of the business, especially in the carefully curated selection of vehicles they offer.

Let’s take a closer look at two classic trucks from this collection that perfectly blend vintage styling with modern performance, made to be driven and enjoyed today.

1959 CHEVROLET APACHE 3100 STEPSIDE

Affectionately known as the “Big Window,” this 1959 fully restored Apache, part of Chevrolet’s Task Force series (1955–1959), is a stunning example of a classic truck reimagined for modern-day cruising. With its iconic wraparound rear glass and timeless body lines, it commands attention wherever it goes. Under the hood, a strong 350 V8 engine pairs with a Turbo 350 transmission to deliver smooth, reliable power, while modern upgrades like power steering, power brakes, and a Ford 9-inch rear end make it a pleasure to drive, even in city traffic.

The lowered stance and staggered wheels give it just the right hint of attitude, complementing the truck’s gleaming paint and chrome. Inside the cab, the interior has been tastefully refreshed with plush custom leather seating and subtle custom touches. A modern stereo system, tucked neatly inside the glove box, and a discreet speaker box behind the seat preserve the clean, vintage aesthetic.

This Apache isn’t just a showpiece—it’s a thoughtfully built driver that captures the soul of a classic with the comfort of a cruiser.

1969 FORD F100 RANGER

Few builds strike a better balance between old-school cool and modern muscle than this beautifully executed 1969 Ford F100 Ranger. Under the hood, an impressively swapped Gen 2 Coyote 5.0L engine brings modern performance and reliability paired with a smooth-shifting Ford 6-speed transmission, which gives this vintage pickup the heartbeat of a contemporary performance machine.

The suspension has been dialed in with DJM components up front, QA1 adjustable shocks in the rear, and CalTracs bars for added traction and stability. Wilwood 6-piston front brakes ensure this powerhouse can stop as well as it goes, and a 9-inch Posi rear end puts the power to the pavement with confidence.

While the performance upgrades are impressive, what truly makes this truck stand out is the attention to its original styling. From the stock grille and trim to the vintage dash and headliner, the F100 still proudly wears its heritage. Inside, a modern Ford bench seat blends seamlessly with classic instrument gauges, a Retro Sound Bluetooth stereo, and Vintage Air A/C, all integrated with

care and craftsmanship. The fuel tank has been smartly relocated to the rear for more cabin space, showing just how well-thought-out this build really is.

Whether it’s cruising to a car show or just turning heads on the open road, this truck delivers on all fronts: style, performance, and drivability.

At the core of EDH Motors is a simple yet powerful philosophy: challenge conventions and do things differently. As a single source for all things automotive, the shop operates with a clear focus on honesty, fairness, and building lasting relationships. For Del Dotto and Van Coops, they strive to make the automotive experience more personal, more exciting, and refreshingly straightforward. For car enthusiasts looking for something beyond the ordinary, or just a place that truly understands the love for great machines, EDH Motors is a local name worth knowing.

Visit EDHmotors.com for more information on these trucks, to explore their full collection, or to schedule a personalized consultation at their Town Center location.

CJ’S CIGARS

An aromatic hub brings people together for a relaxing smoke

Maybe you’ve smelled it as you’ve walked by: the peppery, spicy, smoky aroma of the cigar. It might bring to mind a favorite uncle, or a soothing image of people laughing together, or a vision of suave movie actors gazing thoughtfully out into oblivion while puffing away. In El Dorado Hills Town Center, a convivial gathering spot draws newbies and aficionados to connect, smoke, taste, and learn all about the fine art of cigars.

At CJ’s Cigars, everyone age 21 and older is welcome. CJ Brown, who began working at Adam’s Cigars (in the same space) in 2013, purchased the shop when previous owner Adam Markhieh retired six years ago. “I fell in love with both the craft and the camaraderie that came with it,” says Brown, adding that purchasing the shop felt like a natural next step for her. “I was inspired to continue what he started—building a welcoming, relaxed environment where cigar enthusiasts and newcomers alike could come together, connect, and enjoy premium cigars.”

A cigar is a tube of dried and tightly rolled tobacco leaves, wrapped in tobacco leaf. Color, flavor, and strength can differ tremendously, depending on tobacco characteristics, humidity, age, and other factors. CJ’s Cigars sources from some of the world’s regions most respected for fine-quality tobacco— and cigar craftsmanship—including the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua. “Our humidor is thoughtfully curated,” she says. In fact, the shop’s walk-in humidor is one of the largest in El Dorado County, and within it is a floor-to-ceiling selection of classic favorites and boutique brands, as well as some rarities and limited editions that will delight cigar collectors and serious connoisseurs.

For newbies, there’s a natural starting place, and helping determine cigar strength is one of Brown’s special talents. She enjoys personally engaging with customers to help them find the right cigar. “For beginners,” Brown says, “I usually recommend something smooth and approachable. I always start by asking a few simple questions: what flavors they enjoy in food or drinks, how familiar they are with nicotine, what time will this person have to give their undivided attention to the experience. The goal is to make the introduction enjoyable, not intimidating.”

People who already know they like cigars or who are seasoned smokers might typically go for something bold and full-bodied, or something from a rare collection. It all depends on the person, Brown says.

Shop owner CJ Brown regards the sense of community as one of the most rewarding aspects of her work. “Cigars have a way of bringing people together, whether it’s longtime friends catching up, a father and son sharing a moment, or first-timers discovering something new.”

As well, this goes for people—smokers or not—who come in with the intention to purchase cigars for Father’s Day. “Think about your dad’s personality and preferences,” Brown says. “Is this his first-time experience? Does he already enjoy cigars?” If it’s the latter, she suggests a limited edition to make the gift feel extra special. CJ’s can put together gift sets that include a careful selection of premium cigars packaged with a high-quality cutter, lighter, ashtray, and other essentials.

As a gift, a cigar is not just a cigar. “It’s about giving more than a cigar,” Brown says. “It’s giving a moment to unwind and enjoy.”

She reminds customers, whether giving a gift or indulging themselves, to consider how the cigars will be stored.

Because humidity matters, people should always include a humidor or Boveda pack (which provides two-way humidity control—not too high, not too low) if they or the recipient don’t have one already. Without proper humidity, Brown says, cigars dry out quickly.

CJ’s is well stocked with cigars, pipe tobacco, and all manner of accessories. The lineup of top-tier cutters and lighters is especially alluring and includes some from prestigious French brand S.T. Dupont. Other notable selections include exquisite hand-carved pipes from Northern California artisan Max Capps, alongside a wide variety of pipe tobaccos for those who prefer the old-school ritual. Among some of the shop’s most prized items: cigars from Arturo Fuente’s Aged Selection, including the iconic OpusX and the highly coveted “Heaven and Earth” cigars, which come presented in an elegant limited edition travel humidor. The accompanying “Heaven and Earth” ashtray adds another layer of sophistication, especially for collectors and aficionados. The rare vintage cigars, created by Carlos “Carlito” Fuente (of Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in Santiago), are highly sought by discerning cigar collectors and connoisseurs around the world.

Furthermore, it’s not just about the cigars: With Fuente’s Aged Selection, a portion of the sales proceeds is donated to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, which defines its mission as working to improve “people’s lives in the mountainous Bonao region of the Dominican Republic.” By focusing on families, the foundation strives “to give the children in this cigar-producing region an opportunity for a better future,” according to the CFCF website.

Meanwhile, back at Town Center in EDH, the cigar shop itself is warmly lit and welcoming, with a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. A lineup of cigar-friendly liquor graces the shelves, too. (Because what’s a cigar without brandy? Or whiskey?) Regulars often congregate in an outdoor lounge area, where Brown says the conversations flow as easily as smoke. “The focus is on great conversation and genuine connection,” says Brown, who finds the relationships formed and the sense of community to be the most rewarding aspects of her work. “Cigars have a way of bringing people together,” she says, “whether it’s longtime friends catching up, a father and son sharing a moment, or first-timers discovering something new. I’ve watched strangers become friends, just by sharing a cigar and conversation.”

Priceless Memories

Learning a new skill together, or sharing a favorite hobby, is a great way to bond. If Dad likes woodworking or fishing, finding a class to attend together goes beyond gifting tools and allows fun.

Blast From The Past

Brainstorm childhood memories together and enjoy a day reliving them. If he chaperoned a trip to the zoo, experience it again together. If short on time, stop at a favorite ice cream stand and tell him how much you cherish the memories.

SO YOU WANT TO BE A COWBOY

Favorably referred to as the “Last Best Place” and the “Treasure State,” Montana has captured the hearts of cinematic cowboys like Taylor Sheridan and Harrison Ford and inspired the television series, “Yellowstone” and its prequels, “1883” and “1923.” Though fictional, they’ve reminded America of its deeply-rooted spirit for adventure and the simple yet rugged way of life that we all crave. Whether its the backdrop of jagged, snowcapped peaks or the endless golden pastures that are peppered with livestock, this Rocky Mountain soil is a breeding ground for dreamers and doers, and the people who call it home are no strangers to the ritual of ranch life.

So, you want to be a cowboy? Slipping on some leather and having a little hide in your hat are good ways to start, but visiting a resort that brings the best of this life to the forefront, while also embracing modern luxury, is the experience of a lifetime. Personalization is key—a divine selection of cuisine for the foodies, awe-inspiring activities for the adrenaline seekers, and world-class lodging that tickles every fancy from stargazing glamping, to timber-style family dwellings, to the uniquely designed green “o hauses” that invite the outside world in.

WHAT TO DO

To change your attitude, you need a change in altitude. Gain some speed or turn up the adrenaline level with ATV tours, electric biking, mountain biking, go-karts, paintball, rappelling down Lookout Rock or whitewater rafting down the Blackfoot River. Indulge in the western art of living with archery, fly-fishing, hiking or sporting clays. For those who want to immerse themselves in the language of horses, there are horse-related adventures such as lessons, grooming or feeding, horse-whispering workshops or organized trails rides. Riders can also enjoy cattle drives that bring you back to yesteryear—driving a herd of cattle across the famed landscape—and bear witness to mustang gentling, where the Equestrian Manager communicates with a wild horse through body language and tone of voice.
