At 8 p.m. guests were ushered thru glass doors into a tent beautifully draped entirely in black silk. The spot-lighted focal point was the 296 GTS resting on a sparkling LED floor under the opulence of a Ferrari-emblazoned red silk cover. The cover became the train of a stunning model’s red gown.

14

It’s a lifestyle baby. East Cobb and other affluent neigh borhoods outside the perimeter are home to a sizable number of Ferrari owners. In fact, the only official Ferrari Dealership (Ferrari of Atlanta) is in neighboring Roswell and has enjoyed success in the area for more than 30 years. As a result, it was no surprise that Ferrari brought their newest car to town for a dramatic unveiling. The past, present and future converged at Historic Naylor Hall for the epic event to introduce Ferrari’s NEW 296 GTS convertible. Ferrari Marketing Director Jacqueline Johnson assembled her own high-perfor mance team to realize her vision for the two-day event headed by Atlanta’s award-winning Events of a Lifetime Productions. “We chose Naylor Hall because it’s a beau tiful space, close to the dealership, dripping with history and true Southern charm, both of which we admire and wanted to incorporate,” explains Johnson. Indeed, it was quite the sight to see two cherry-red 296 GTB Ferraris parked where the horses would have been tied up back in the 1840s when the elegant house was originally built. Test rides in the GTBs were available by appointment to guests who traveled from as far away as Nashville to attend the event. Thanks to the creative design of Gillian Marto and Debra Hull of ELP, the historic home became a beautiful backdrop for Ferrari’s signature, sleek style - successfully blending the past and present for the evening event that The Ferrari 296 GTB at Historic Nayolr Hall culminated in the unveiling of the 296 GTS. Guests were welcomed at a branded champagne wall. The graceful ballroom boasted contemporary black and red leather seating areas. Guests enjoyed delicious bites, cock tails and Angel’s Envy tasting at a lighted, branded bar. The vibe was enhanced by a custom cigar roller and the smooth musical stylings of a DJ with live saxophone.

After remarks by Ferrari of Atlanta GM Craig Forbes and dealership owner, Webb Collums, a drum roll echoed thru the room and the model walked forward unveiling the sleek car to the flashes of a multitude of cell phone cameras!

At the end of the evening, in a historic setting that has triumphed over time, dealership owner Webb Collums spoke of Ferrari’s history. “Our heritage was born over three decades ago. Much has changed since then, but the three main values we continue to uphold remain the same:  Passion, Quality, and Integrity in everything that we do.”

The 296 GTS is the evolution of Ferrari’s mid-rearengined two-seater sports Berlinetta spider concept. Like the F8 and 488 GTB, it represents a revolution for the Maranello-based company as it introduces the new 120-degree, V6 engine coupled with a plug-in (PHEV) electric motor capable of delivering up to 830 cv. Thus, the car defines the idea of driving fun- providing pure excitement not only when pursuing maximum perfor mance, but also during everyday driving.

Not a hard-core performance car buff? Well, in other words, it’s FAST. Really fast. We’re talking 0-124 mph in 7.6 seconds. If you’re not ready for that kind of speed, you can always start at 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. This Ferrari “pony” will run at more than 205 miles per hour, and it is a sleek, luxurious, custom-car confection!

Cheers to the Ferrari 296 GTS

Toasting to Dining Perfection

The steaks at The Capital Grille Dunwoody have a story to tell. Long before the steaks meet the grill, they are meticulously dry-aged on the premise for 18 - 24 days to achieve incomparable flavor and tex ture. Then, each is hand-carved by in-house butch ers to exacting standards. It’s an intensive process, but the chef wouldn’t have it any other way.

Accessorizing with jewelry can mean a little sparkle here or there, or in the case of Coco Chanel, rows and rows of pearls. It does not matter if they are real or imi tations, try to collect pieces that are meaningful to you as if inherited from a cherished relative or even objects that you might hand down to your descendants when you are finished with them.

"My mother always wore a gold charm bracelet on her left hand. She was a very petite woman and it was full of charms, one for each grandchild," says pub lisher Lisa Thibault. "When she traveled she would buy reminder charms and over the years her grandchildren would continue to fill up her charm bracelet. I now am the proud owner of this beautiful piece of history which I Jewelrycherish."isalways in fashion, and the latest trends are showing us that brooches are having a moment!  Pearls when styled right, or layered with chains in either silver or gold are trends for fall.  When looking for vintage, you may want to find something with a name brand attached to it.  A Chanel pin is so versatile that it can be worn on a denim jacket or a velvet evening coat. Women who find themselves marrying for a second time might have jewelry given to them by a previous spouse. Jewels have energy surrounding them, and should be cared for with love and respect for the stone itself, not always the sentiment of the giver! “I have a diamond heart necklace from my first husband. It was the first gift he gave me and out of all the jewelry includ ing my previous wedding ring that is the one item,” says Alicia"MyBurroughs.mostfavorite pieces were gifted to me by my grandmother and mother," says Elizabeth Tyler of East Cobb. "My grandmother had a beautiful engagement brooch, which was made into a ring featuring a center diamond flanked by sapphires and given to me on my 21st birthday. The second piece I treasure is a pin I cre ated using the timepieces given to me by my mother and namesakes. Each watch face is inscribed with the date of their high school graduation."

ARTICLE BY NANCY FLAHERTY

Do you have a special piece of jewelry that was handed down to you from a cherished relative?  What do you do with it, how do you wear it, or how do you incorporate it into the current trends with your style?

My mother cherished her herringbone 24-carat gold chain she bought on QVC in the 80s and she passed it on to me one recent Christmas. I don’t wear gold, so I gave it to my daughter the following year for graduation.  It really means alot to my mom to see her granddaughter enjoying her necklace.

For advice on how to care for your cherished pieces, ask a local jeweler and do shop locally!

Bye, bye beige. Hello hues! We love color, engaging design and eye candy here at East Cobb City Lifestyle magazine. When we caught a glimpse of a dynamite project by Atlanta designer, Krystee Manifold Spencer, we were inspired to share a few of our favorite interiors that border on bold but are entirely pleasing.  Krystee opted to use white (Benjamin Moore OC-65 Chantilly Lace) throughout the first floor then added color to the family home’s second level, with a palette that reflects the homeowner’s 50 years of world travels and appeals to a gaggle of grandchildren. Krystee gave the second floor punches of color to reflect memories of the family’s 50 years of travels together all over the world and to cater to requests of their six grandchildren, after all, this house was built with them in mind.

When designers at Huff Harrington were asked to update a 40th-floor condo at the Four Seasons Atlanta, they were careful to provide a complete facelift while ensuring new living spaces flowed gracefully from one to another. For designer Leah Atkins, Schumacher's Faubourg wallpaper added the perfect amount of drama to a master bedroom. "It's a small space so we kept the furniture minimal, but still wanted to make a big impact. Cue the wallpaper," says Leah. "Our client's style was influenced by both modern and global elements, and this wall paper is the perfect combination of both."

“So much of this home’s design was focused on finding ways to display the homeowner’s collections and memories. The starburst on the wall is no different,” says Krystee of the blue twin bedroom. “(She) spent years collecting the small Norman Rockwell plates fea ture there. They were an easy pairing in the playful kid’s room. The guest suite, aka the purple room, was the last room completed. We committed to a color, Sherwin Williams Enigma, and WENT ALL IN. Some see it and cringe,” says Krystee. “Most see it for the thought ful collection it is. Different eras of furniture, each connected to their lives together, tied together by a calming lavender-grey. I moved to East Cobb with my two daughters right before the pandemic hit. I wanted to find a place with a space for an art studio that is also in a good school district. I was thrilled to find a house in the Pope High School district. It’s a lovely contemporary quirky structure built in the ‘70s surrounded by a wooded area with plenty of room to plant a plein-air garden - which I have been hard at work with since we moved in - and a large space with tall ceilings and plenty of natural light to use as an art studio. And the icing on top is the Cobb county facility for the arts: The Art Place, where I can teach and create more community around art and meet my neighbors. Check them out at  ArtPlaceMarietta.org. I recently finished a commissioned 20-foot mural between the Spruill Center for the Arts and the Dunwoody Library entrance, and I am now preparing to paint the largest mural I have ever taken on - a floral composition on a 58’ long wall in a shopping center in Roswell.
