JULY 2023
A Summer TO REMEMBER

Sweet Summertime

There is no question that the Texas summer months are in full swing. Thighs burning on the car seat, mosquitoes buzzing and “I’m bored,” probably all resonate right about now. That being said, I hope this letter finds you laying by the pool or lake soaking in some much-needed vitamin D.

Each year, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of summer and the nostalgia surrounding the season. Overlooking the hot and sweaty aspect, I crave the lack of structure, the freedom to explore with my kids, the instant gratification of a dip in the pool and an excuse to eat popsicles on the daily. I can’t fail to mention my favorite aspect of summer, the fact that I don’t have to find matches for my kid’s socks every morning.

Your summer may look different than mine, which is full of, “how to keep the kids busy.” It may simply be the normal every day but with more heat. If so, at least add some lemonade and friend time here and there to savor the season.

Each summer, our family makes an effort to visit a few Texas water sources. The river, beach, and local watering holes all within driving distance are our goal. Our favorites that hold the most memories are the Frio River, Port Aransas Beach, Reimers Ranch Park for a day trip and Lake Travis. My three boys typically start off finding something to bicker about with each other, like “you took my fishing net,” before breaking off on their own finding shells, catching minnows and riding some waves to create their own little memories of summer paradise.

The pages in our Summer Fun issue will help you make the most of this (sweaty) season. Even if “summer break” doesn't mean three months of vacation anymore, we can still look forward to an adventure by crossing things off our Summer Bucket List. For us, that means a weekend trip to the beach, a mid-week trek to a local waterhole, sipping a cold one with friends at a local brewery and enjoying a new book.

We hope our stories will encourage you to add new adventures to your calendar and make the most of our fantastic town. The potential to make lifelong memories awaits!

Beloved Community Hero

Ronnie "Shorty" Glen Barnett, a beloved community figure, passed away February 17, 2023, at age 73. Shorty, known for his warm personality, made a lasting impact on the residents of Dripping Springs. He joined the Navy at age 17 and deployed to Vietnam in 1969. Following his naval service, Shorty returned to Texas where he met and married his wife, Pat. They moved to Dripping Springs in 1985 and raised three sons. An active member of the Sunset Canyon

Baptist Church, Shorty worked on the church and preschool staff for 17 years.

As a founding and active member of American Legion Post 290 and VFW Post 2933, Shorty took great pride in being a veteran. He was also instrumental in the development of Patriot’s Hall of Dripping Springs—a permanent retreat and resource base for veterans of all ages and military branches to connect and find support. His legacy will live forever as a brave and dedicated community hero.

A Refreshing Escape

Dive into Local Swimming Holes

As summer in Central Texas reaches its sweltering peak, we are so fortunate here in Dripping Springs to be surrounded by refreshing swimming holes. Within a half hour’s drive, you can plunge from a rope swing into the cool water of Blue Hole, leisurely float in a tube at Cypress Falls, or bask on the beach of Hamilton Pool’s stunning grotto.

Of the three, the most easily accessible is Cypress Falls in Wimberley, where you don’t need a reservation or have a trek to the water. Located at Cypress Falls Lodge and Event Center, it offers creature comforts you can enjoy without being a lodge guest. Cool down with a local beer from their 10-tap bar, grab a snack from the cafe, or rent a canoe or tube and paddle out to meet the goats on the island at the center of this spring-fed swimming hole. Created by the dam in Cypress Creek, this refreshing oasis is sure to provide a welcome break from the summer heat.

Just a few minutes away is Blue Hole Regional Park, a stunning swimming hole framed by hundreds of Cypress trees, whose shade keeps the water a refreshing 75 degrees. The rope swings are a big attraction here, with kids and adults lining up to jettison themselves into the creek’s clear, blue-green water. When you need

a rest from the activity, the creek-side lawn provides a perfect spot to picnic and relax. You need reservations to enjoy Blue Hole, and they fill up quickly.

As do spots for the gorgeous grotto at Hamilton Pool Preserve, about 15 miles north of downtown Dripping. Part of the Travis County Parks system, the site has limited trail and pool access due to recent ice storms, but it’s still worth the effort. After about a quarter-mile descent by foot into the canyon, you’re rewarded with an idyllic scene with a 45-foot waterfall cascading into a turquoise pool. It’s the stuff summer memories are made of.

MORE THAN A PIZZERIA

Growing Culinary Delights in Dripping Springs

A familiar family stomping grounds, Hill Country Ranch Pizzeria, opened in February 2011 just steps away from H-E-B. Aiming to be the type of restaurant families go to on a regular basis, the goal was to offer exceptional food at a fair price in a "come as you are" environment.

Within months of opening, Hill Country Ranch Pizzeria was invited to participate in a blind taste test competition on-air hosted by KVET radio. They were delighted to sweep the competition, winning against some very well-known Austin favorites.

At the time, Dripping Springs was much smaller with fewer food options. Aiming to provide more than the commonly seen Italian cuisine, the award-winning pizzeria broadened its selection. Burgers now accompanied pizza on the menu. "Burgers at a pizza place" was the inquisitive comment often heard.

“Luckily our background was strongly rooted in burgers, and we saw rapid business growth over the next year,” says Founder and Managing Partner Mark Sewell.

As its popularity continued to grow, Hill Country Ranch Pizzeria needed to grow. They began operating a food truck in 2015 that served burgers and pizza balls. They now run five food trucks, used mostly for catering, along with a shaved ice trailer.

In 2017, The Driftwood Bistro was born on the property of Driftwood Estate Winery.

An outdoor, tableside service restaurant, overlooking the "million-dollar views" of the winery’s vineyard below, the menu is an eclectic mix of global cuisine, from ribeye quesadillas to crabcakes and much more. The property is 21 and over and very casual. You can linger over a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board in flip-flops and shorts for hours. The Bistro operates Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Continuing to expand its delicious flavors throughout Dripping Springs, the Hill Country Ranch Sweet Shop opened in July 2022. The Sweet Shop offers a wide range of baked goods, desserts, candy, chocolates and more. A nod to Mark’s mom, now 76, who was a baker growing up, the goal was to have a location that people could visit often, not just for special occasions. Located in front of Dripping Springs Middle School, it’s a privilege for them to provide breakfast and lunch to many teachers.

“A large part of our success has been tied to supporting Dripping Springs whenever we can. We emphasize giving back to churches, schools and youth,” says Mark. “Each year we challenge ourselves to give back more than the year prior. Where we can we support local needs with cash donations, gift cards or deep discounts."

Refuse the Mundane: Seek Unique Rental Terrain with Tips from the Designer

Looking for the perfect vacation destination this summer? Try renting a charming shortterm rental. It’s comforting to find homey accommodations anywhere you go, but remember that your rental can set the tone for your whole trip—so make it count! You can surround yourself with art and unusual architecture, calm colors and sounds or the perfect coastal cowgirl pied-à-terre.

So how do you choose a spot? First and foremost, it’s good to think of your getaway as a chance to live a different way. You can play with your temporary address. Choose something artful or look for unique features that reflect the location. Have you ever wondered what a classic adobe house feels like? What about a historic townhouse in Charleston? Or a vibrant studio on Bourbon Street? Or a

cozy lodge in the mountains? Or a relaxing beach bungalow?

When designing my short-term rental projects, I like to think outside of “normal” decor and esthetics and use durable and unique materials. I love fitting little hideaways into a space like book nooks or lofts. Can I hang a hammock in the living room? Let's do it! Can we forgo a couch in favor of luxurious chaise lounges by a picture window? Going to make it happen! A great bunk bed with soft bedside sconces, or even a screened-in sleeping porch are all welcome surprises for vacation properties, and picture opportunities for guests, making the place unforgettable and the entire trip more fun.

SUMMER HAIR CARE

Don't Let Chlorine Ruin Your Tresses, Professional Tips to Calm your Stresses

Living in the Texas Hill Country, many of us must overcome the heat and hard water challenge. Hair can be super porous, especially in the summer with heat, chlorine and hard water. We’ve all seen how blonde hair can have a green tint—this is caused by chlorine and mineral buildup. As a hairstylist, clients often ask about summer hair care. Here are some of my favorite tips:

3/

A hat is great if you’re in the sun and not swimming. If you are going under, protect your hair before taking a dip—wet hair close to the cuticle and use a leave-in conditioner before getting in. Use a product that has UV protection. 2/

After swimming, use clarifying shampoo once a week. If you have colored hair, be cautious— some can fade hair color. Use good hair products and mask once a week. Lay off the heat from styling tools. I love to do braids, ponytails and hats. Let your hair be in its natural state if it’s curly.

The heat can cause your hair to become frizzy and split ends may appear. To keep your hair healthy, get a regular trim every six-to-eight weeks to remove any split ends, cut down on frizz and keep your hair looking its best.

CREATIVE POOLS AND PATIOS

With more than 40 years of experience in outdoor living and pool construction, Creative Pools and Patios Owner Chris Houk specializes in affordable, high-quality solutions for pool design and construction.

“A pool is a wonderful way to bring family and friends together, especially in Texas,” says Chris. “Our pool has always been a gathering place for our children and their friends.”

While a pool adds value to a home, Chris advises clients to prioritize building for their family's enjoyment. To fully benefit from the investment, he recommends families stay in their home for a minimum of five years.

Selecting the right company is crucial. Startups may offer lower prices, but they lack expertise and design experience. To better serve clients, Chris made the decision to scale back the number of simultaneous projects his team takes on. This ensures optimal customer service and guaranteed completion times.

Creative Pools and Patios offers complete remodels and renovations as well as the construction of outdoor living areas including kitchens, fireplaces and fire pits, arbors and pergolas.

THREE SIMPLE TIPS TO MORE JOYFUL LIVING

EMBRACING THE FUN

If you're feeling stuck or uninspired, summer is the perfect time to relax and envision how to change the trajectory of your life in a direction that feeds your soul. I know from experience.

Five years ago, I had a close call with a pulmonary embolism. A blood clot made its way into an artery in my lungs. After feeling horrible for four days, I went to the ER after taking a couple of conference calls and even took a team call while driving myself. At the time, I was working extreme hours, traveling for work and trying to show up 100% for my family while struggling through a second marriage. The pulmonary embolism was a wake-up call for me.

I took a four-month hiatus and hired a life coach and a personal trainer. I began to reshape what I wanted my life's narrative to be. But most importantly, I learned how to get off the hamster wheel and enjoy myself while setting the course on a new path. I eventually learned to have fun.

HERE ARE THREE TIPS TO FOCUS ON FUN:

• Freedom to Be You. Step back and take a close look at how you're spending your days. Are you living authentically, aligned with your values and working toward your purpose? Or are you keeping pace with a storyline dictated by others? We all possess unique qualities and talents. Start thinking about what will free you from the expectations of others and move in a direction that’s right for you.

• Unleash Your Desires. What changes can bring you closer to freedom? Maybe you take an in-person job because you crave personal connection. Trey Hardee

FORMER OLYMPIAN FINDS JOY IN COACHING

Trey Hardee looks like an average Dripping Springs dad. From across the room, you wouldn’t suspect the man eating a muffin with his coffee is one of the greatest American track and field athletes ever.

He’s long and lean, impossibly handsome yet unassuming. A two-time Olympian, Trey won a silver medal at the 2012 London Games in the decathlon.

Along with his wife Chelsea, Trey and his family moved to Dripping Springs in September 2021. Their kids are now six, four and two.

“One thing we like about being out here is when you’re here, you’re home,” he says. “It’s just awesome. I can’t believe we get to live here. Our house is where all the kids meet and play. It’s always chaos and we love it. We love to be outside and enjoy the summertime."

After retiring in 2016, he dove into an MBA program. He started a few companies, but never got the satisfaction he craved.

“I struggled jumping from thing to thing to thing after I retired,” Trey says. “I was just sliding down this slide, further away from what I knew it should feel like.”

His daily focus is now at The Kollective, a posh gym he describes as the Soho House with weights. Its mission is to create a healthier, fitter society.

“I get to work on the business development side, to use my MBA hat,” he says. “I work with professional athletes. Performance at the highest level, mental, physical and all the stuff that comes along with it. The technical term for what I do is a linear speed coach. I teach people how to go fast.”

It’s his first foray into full-time coaching. He’s now trained more than 20 players for the NFL draft.

“I know that every day, my cup gets filled at work, and I come home and I’m a better dad,” he says. “Having a coaching or mentorship role is where I was meant to be.”

Although he works in Austin, Trey and his family love their home and their neighbors in Howard Ranch.

“We got so lucky. It’s laughable for us how perfect it has been. I love the community pride,” he says. “We’re in a suburban utopia where our kids can run outside and go wherever they want. It just feels like this perfect place to raise a family.”

Good Bourbon for a Good Cause

Raising a Glass and Making a Difference

Good Bourbon for a Good Cause (GBGC) is a non-profit organization that blends the world of philanthropy with the love for bourbon. Founded in 2018 by Garrison Brothers Distillery, this unique initiative has been making a positive impact by leveraging the popularity of bourbon to support various charitable causes and uplift communities in need. “We believe that good bourbon can change the world,” says founder Dan Garrison.

At the heart of GBGC is a deep-rooted belief in the power of collective generosity. They partner with renowned bourbon distilleries, wineries, breweries and enthusiasts to host events, auctions and tastings to raise funds for charities across a range of causes.

GBGC works with organizations that help American veterans and their families recover from debilitating medical, mental health and psychological challenges such as post-traumatic stress disorder. They

also partner with organizations dedicated to conserving and preserving nature, wildlife, green spaces and historical landmarks and sites.

What sets GBGC apart is its ability to unite bourbon enthusiasts around a shared passion for philanthropy. Bourbon aficionados can support the cause by attending tastings, making donations, or participating in exclusive auctions to acquire rare and limited-edition bottles.

When Hurricane Harvey struck the Gulf Coast in 2019, they took action. Garrison Brothers' Master Distiller Donnis Todd set aside 15 barrels filled that day and labeled them "Hurricane Tough." GBGC subsequently offered a free bottle of this limited release to the first 1,000 people who donated $100 or more to Team Rubicon, an organization that combines the expertise of military veterans with first responders to swiftly deploy emergency response teams.

"The response was astounding. Within 72 hours, we raised over $175,000! That's when I knew good bourbon can do great things," says Hope Parkerson, GBGC's chief mission director.

In addition to this charitable endeavor, GBGC has been actively involved in a century-long initiative to enhance the beauty of Balmorhea State Park, which inspired the namesake of Garrison Brothers' award-winning Balmorhea whiskey. Last year, GBGC completed its inaugural project at Balmorhea State Park, planting 25 grove trees to provide increased shade.

“This year, we are focusing on getting the funding and drafting the proposal to build an architecturally stunning hike and bike trail from Johnson City to Fredericksburg,” says Parkerson. “It will be beautiful.”

By harnessing the collective goodwill of bourbon enthusiasts, GBGC continues to raise a glass to a brighter future.

CANTEEN SPIRITS

CREATED AND CANNED IN DRIPPING SPRINGS

After spending almost two decades working for international drink brands including Red Bull, George Strait’s Codigo Tequila and more, Brad Bannister wanted more. So he partnered with serial entrepreneurs Brandon Cason and Daniel Barnes to create Canteen Spirits, which is produced and headquartered in Dripping Springs.

“When my wife and I found out that we were having twins, we knew we needed to get back to our family here in Texas,” he says. “At that point in time, we started talking about the creation of Canteen Spirits and the rest is history.”

HOW DOES YOUR RED BULL EXPERIENCE HELP YOU NOW?

It’s the foundation for everything I am today. The one thing I always knew I was missing there was the entrepreneurial mindset and ability to be in control of my own destiny. Canteen has put me in a position to put my abilities to work.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE DRIPPING SPRINGS?

The availability of cost-effective space helps. In a customer-focused industry like beverage, you want people to get a feel for your brand when they come to see what you do. Dripping Springs is an amazing place to have a business like ours.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST MOTIVATION?

I have a beautiful wife, Deirdre, who has been my motivation since we first met on 6th Street in 2006. My son, Sebastian (7), and my beautiful twin girls, Josephine and Juliette (3), will always be the root of the long hours and gray hair. More than that, building something that you are proud to tell your friends and family about is the business side of the motivation.

WHY IS CANTEEN BETTER THAN "TRADITIONAL" HARD SELTZERS?

Canteen is zero sugar, zero sodium, zero carbs only 100 calories and five percent ABV. From start to finish, all Canteen brands are made right here in Dripping Springs. We even use the freshest water and we strip out all the impurities to ensure that we have the best quality ingredients to create the best quality products.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO ENJOY CANTEEN THIS SUMMER?

Anywhere there’s sun, sand, sweat and sound. Pack your cooler and head to your favorite spot on the lake, at the beach or in your backyard with friends and enjoy a cold Canteen!

A Fit Fourth

STAYING ACTIVE THIS SUMMER DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A DAUNTING TASK

One of my favorite things about summer is taking my fitness routine outside and bringing my family and friends in on the fun.

It doesn't matter if you’re visiting the lake, the beach or staying home with the kids this season, you can do a workout just like this one in less than 30 minutes.

GET ACTIVE | PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES
Lunge to Hop Leopard Crawl Walk Out to Plank, Begin Standing
50
Pushups, Modified

All you need to get a great workout in is some open space and your own body weight—and maybe some good tunes too!

When creating outdoor circuits, I try to incorporate upper body, lower body and core movement. Push-ups or modified push-ups using a park bench, for example, are great for the upper body. Simple lunges take care of the lower body. Add a lunge-hop at the end to kick it up a notch, and, this may be new to you, a leopard crawl—a slow crawl on all fours with your limbs bent, booty down. Last, but not least, walkouts to plank, which recruit upper, lower and core. Your goal is to complete three rounds. First round, complete each exercise five times. Second round, 10 times. Third round, 15 times.

This workout will leave you feeling energized and ready to enjoy the rest of your summer day. These are easy for kids to do too, so feel free to make it a family event on your holiday weekend.

HOW ELSE DO I ENJOY A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE DURING A HOLIDAY WEEKEND OR SUMMER?

• Stay Hydrated! With it heating up here in Texas, I recommend 1.5-2x your normal amount of water intake when you are spending more time outside in the heat or if you will be eating or drinking things you don’t normally have in abundance. (Adding a little mineral salt or electrolyte powder to your drink will help keep you extra hydrated.)

• Walking—When we’re traveling my husband, our boys and I love to explore the area we are staying in with some family walks. While at home, we take nightly family walks when it starts to cool off. It increases our movement for the day and we get to have some quality, present family time.

• Fill up on sustenance foods. I love a pool or lakeside salty snack or dip as much as the next gal, but also love feeling energized and full from the foods I eat (and those foods don't always do it for me). I try to fill up most of my day with fruits, vegetables and grilled proteins, and then have a few snacks and cocktails here and there.

A salad I love on a hot summer day and is a hit at BBQs is my quinoa, blueberry and feta salad. You could serve this up with chips and use it as a dip or grill up some chicken and asparagus and you have a whole meal. My go-to summer snack is sliced-up Jicama with some Tajin sprinkled on and a squeeze of lime.

I hope you give this workout a try and have an amazing, fit 4th of July with friends and family.

QUINOA BLUEBERRY AND FETA SALAD

• 2 cups baby spinach

• 2 cups cooked quinoa

• 1/2 cup feta

• 1/3 cup sliced walnuts

• 1 cup blueberries

• 2 tablespoons olive oil

• 3 tablespoons lemon juice

• Zest of one lemon

• 2 tablespoons parsley

• 1 teaspoon salt

• Pepper to taste

In a bowl, add quinoa, parsley and spinach. To make the dressing, whisk olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and zest together. Add the dressing to the quinoa mix. Lightly toss the blueberries, walnuts and feta. Enjoy!

SIPPIN' SUMMER BREWS

Live Local: Beat the Heat, Enjoy Live Music, Food and Drinks

Dripping Springs has become a popular destination for beer aficionados with more than a dozen breweries calling the Hill Country home.

Here are a few local, family-friendly favorites serving up cold brews, great food, live music, new product launches and other fun events throughout the summer.

FAMILY BUSINESS BEER CO.

Locally-grown and operated, Family Business Beer Co. is excited to support the community with two summer events.

The first is Saturday, July 29, featuring more than 40 vendors selling a variety of products such as clothes, artwork, jewelry and food. Live music will entertain attendees throughout the day, making it a perfect outing for the whole family to enjoy while supporting local businesses.

They will also host a back-to-school teacher appreciation event Saturday, August 12. It’s a celebration of gratitude toward the hardworking teachers in our community.

Scott Hughes, Family Business operations manager, expresses the company's commitment to its roots, "We all live in the area, and we really are true to our name — we are a family business, and we treat each other like family."

Family Business takes pride in its beer, which is meticulously crafted on site. As a production facility, the company is currently expanding its distribution into the San Antonio market, bringing its quality beverages to a broader audience. This summer, they plan to launch a flavored seltzer, diversifying their offerings. Visitors can also indulge in delicious food made fresh on-site daily, including a rotating specialty pizza menu.

Children visiting will find themselves entertained on the play set, and the spacious premises provide ample room for dogs to accompany their owners. Live music performances during events add to the vibrant atmosphere.

TWISTED X BREWING COMPANY

Twisted X Brewing Company is best known for their McConahaze IPA. The family-friendly destination has exciting developments in store this summer, including a brand new splash pad, providing children an enjoyable and refreshing way to beat the heat. Families can look forward to spending quality time at the brewery while the little ones engage in fun water activities.

“Two new beers will also be released this summer,” shares Brand Ambassador Joshua Visi. “A small-batch Hefeweizen and a peach pilsner made with Hill Country peaches will add a refreshing local flavor to the menu.”Plans are also underway for a new dog park area, which will make it even more appealing for dog owners to bring their four-legged companions.

For those seeking a complete experience, Twisted X recommends exploring the on-site Cedar Break Howard Ranch Casitas and RVs. Visitors can rent a cozy casita or RV and fully immerse themselves in the charm and brewery offerings for the day.

Summer Dreamin'

Make Your Dreams a Reality by Renting a Private Island

ROAD TRIP TRAVEL
64

Let’s dream a bit. Imagine seclusion to the furthest degree. No strangers, cars whizzing by, and definitely no kids screaming (unless you want to bring your own). You can make this dream a reality by booking a private island.

With a little help from a luxury travel advisor, booking a private island isn't that much different than booking anything else.

Travel with me to learn more about two private islands you can have all to yourself this summer— or even this winter. Christmas on a private Island? Yes, please!

Musha Cay and the Islands of Copperfield Bay is David Copperfield’s magic private island in the Bahamas, only an hour's flight from Miami. Picture 700 lush acres covering 11 islands with 40 secluded sugar sand beaches. You and up to 23 guests can experience this paradise all to yourself. The accommodations are five island guest homes ranging from a one-bedroom beach cottage to a 10,000-squarefoot home.

While on Musha Kay, let your private chef prepare meals for you to enjoy the beachfront under the stars, at the 2,200-square-foot Balinese beach pavilion or dockside watching the fish swim by.

Can you imagine a drive-in movie theater in paradise? Coconut Beach transforms into Dave’s Drive-In, an outdoor theater at the beach. Relax with your toes in the sand with candy and popcorn while you watch your favorite movies.

Thankfully David Copperfield never intends to make this Island disappear.

Or are you looking for a unique island focused on wellness and transformation? Aerial in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) offers an all-inclusive private island retreat experience that heals and elevates you and your purpose. When you step on this island, you step into a fully immersive wellness and healing

environment. This private island delivers a new kind of luxury—"Purpose Luxury.”

Set on Buck Island with over 43 acres, Aerial BVI has five residences, hosting up to 30 guests. Bookings include a personal island concierge, multiple island hosts, world-class nutritionist chefs, wellness consultants, spa therapists, water sports instructors and garden and animal specialists, all welcoming guests to a range of cerebral and physical activities. Guests are given the opportunity to serve or give back in the form of teaching within the community, turtle tagging, reef clean up and more. Redemption Ranch is such a special part of this private island. Rescue animals from all over the world, such as zebras and mini horses, live here. They play an integral part in your healing journey as you help heal them as well.

Is a full private island a little over the top for your smaller family? Rather than rent the entire island, you can rent a villa on a private island. You can still find that luxurious secluded feel at these private island properties:

• Cayo Espanto, Belize

• Cayo Levantado, Dominican Republic

• Como Parrot Cay, Turks & Caicos

• Guana Island, BVI

• Jumby Bay, Antigua

• Kokomo Private Island, Fiji

• Little Palm Island, Florida Keys

• The Brando, Tahiti

All of these destinations can accommodate a multi-generational vacation, an intimate family vacation, a romantic getaway or a corporate retreat. Every stay is curated to include all the wishes of your party. Contact me to make your private island dreams come true.

REGENERATE Talks Summer Skincare Safety

The easiest way to fight sun damage is to stay out of the sun to prevent damage before it occurs. While that is a challenging thing to do here in Texas, we’ve included a few tips on how to prevent sun damage. If damage has already occurred, learn how we can help erase the physical appearance of those dark spots.

• Protect your skin from sun rays, regardless of skin tone or family history. Use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply 15 minutes before going outside and reapply at least every two hours.

• You don’t have to stay wrapped in a towel to shade the rays, be stylish in a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Seek shade and protection, but still wear sunscreen.

• Watch out for reflective rays from sand, water or snow. Rays can increase your risk of getting burned.

• To make sure your sunscreen is most effective, store it in a cool place and check its expiration.

• Drink water and keep your body hydrated. Proper hydration allows your body to sweat and maintain the right body temperature. •

• If you do get sunburned, take a cool bath, moisturize (aloe works great) and drink lots of water.

While staying out of the sun to prevent damage is always the goal, if you’ve already had too much exposure resulting in damage and dark spots, there are ways to help. At REGENERATE, we have the latest technology in photo rejuvenation. Our Harmony Dye-VL combines two trusted technologies (intense pulsed light, otherwise known as IPL, and pulsed dye laser) creating the new “Gold Standard” for pigmentation removal. Our laser targets the melanin in pigmented lesions to naturally eliminate its dark appearance. Set up a complimentary consultation at REGENERATE to learn how we can help you reach your goals.naturalhealingtx.com
