Our very own Publisher, Carmen, knows that love firsthand. She and her husband welcomed their sweet dog, Lucy, into their lives after initially planning to foster her. “We thought we’d just be giving her a temporary home to help free up space for other puppies,” Carmen shared. “But we quickly fell in love with Lucy. She captured our hearts, and we knew we couldn’t let her go.”

Happy Bunny Studio is more than just a children’s boutique; it’s a cozy, joy-filled space where families shop, play, and celebrate life’s little moments. The story behind Happy Bunny Studio is as heartfelt as it is enchanting. After 12 years of marriage, owners Danny and Mod welcomed their first child, Damien, just like themselves during the Year of the Rabbit. That serendipitous connection sparked something extraordinary. In Chinese zodiac tradition, the Rabbit symbolizes love, gentleness, and family, the very spirit that would become the soul of their dream business. Their mission is to help parents celebrate every stage of childhood with thoughtfully curated products and experiences. They believe in slow moments, quality items, and meaningful memories.
As a first-time mom, Mod craved a place that felt soft, safe, and full of joy. “I didn’t want just another store,” she says. “I wanted an experience, a warm, welcoming space where parents could feel seen, supported, and inspired.” The boutique offers a beautifully curated selection of baby and children’s items for ages newborn to eight.
From gender-neutral outfits and cozy swaddles to plush toys, feeding essentials, and timeless books, each item is hand-selected for its safety, quality, and aesthetic. Think soft tones, calming textures, and pieces that spark creativity, like magnetic play boards and whimsical bunny plushies.

Looking ahead, Happy Bunny Studio hopes to expand its party offerings, grow the photography side, and even launch a lifestyle or clothing line inspired by the beauty of family life. “In five years,” Mod says, “we’d love to be a go-to destination for families, not just in Florida, but online or in new cities, too.”
One moment Mod will never forget is when she broke down in tears after seeing her baby’s photos. “She said it was the first time she truly felt proud of herself as a mom, that meant everything,” Mod recalls. Because at Happy Bunny Studio, it’s not just about beautiful things. It’s about creating a space where love, family, and everyday magic come together.

West The Wheaten Terrier
West is not just a dog, he’s the son Grettel never had. Born in Texas, this seven-year-old pup has the soul of a forever-young adventurer. He may be spoiled (with daily homemade meals, no less), but when you meet him, you’ll understand why. With his expressive eyes, playful energy, and that irresistible charm, West has a way of winning hearts instantly.
He has his own TikTok account, where he entertains a growing fanbase with his antics and beach adventures, because yes, the beach is his happy place. Watching him run through the waves is like watching pure joy in motion.
West is more than a pet. He’s a companion, a teacher, and a daily reminder to love deeply and live fully. He came into her life and filled it with laughter, tenderness, and unconditional love.
Playful like a puppy, wise like an old soul, West is a beautiful mix of both. And to those who know him, he’s simply unforgettable.
Zuri & Flynn –
Tiny Travelers, Big Hearts
Zuri and Flynn are adorable Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mixes with hearts as big as their personalities. Both are survivors of abuse, rescued by local shelters before finding their loving forever home. In 2021, their family moved to Miramar Beach after falling in love with the charm of the Destin area. While enjoying beach walks, they steer clear of the water, which might be best since Zuri only has three legs!
These well-traveled pups are constant companions to their parents, tagging along to restaurants, parks, shops, and even the office. Their co-workers love them but say they are a little lazy on the job! With 28 states already under their collars, their recent adventures include a rickshaw tour of Washington, DC, and even a Washington Nationals baseball game!
Over the holidays, they played Florida tourists, exploring Longboat Key, the Keys, Miami Beach, and Vero Beach. This summer, they’re heading to the Hamptons and Boston for beach time and history. Always stylish, Zuri and Flynn have their own wardrobe and never miss a dog boutique on the road. They’re the heart of their family, a joyful reminder always to adopt, not shop.

Gunny –The Heart of Our Pack
Meet Gunny, our lovable 3-year-old German Shepherd with a big heart and even bigger personality! Born in Virginia, Gunny’s journey to us started with a special hand-off in South Carolina, where we met our uncle halfway to bring him home to Florida. How did he get his name? His human dad, Andy, is a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps. He joked, “There can’t be two Master Gunz in the house!” So, the pup was proudly promoted to Gunnery Sergeant—affectionately shortened to “Gunny.” It’s the perfect mix of respect, humor, and family pride wrapped up in one lovable name!
Gunny took no time to fall in love with the whole family. He is Mom’s snuggle buddy and Dad’s roughhousing partner. Though his size and bark might startle guests, he’ll soon offer them a doggy toy as a peace offering. Gunny takes his “job” seriously—he’s personally offended if Dad goes outside to do yard work or projects without him. And while he wants nothing to do with the swimming pool, Gunny is all about the dog beach and encouraging other pups to chase him.

Meet Butch –A K9 Hero in Training
Butch is no ordinary dog—he’s a highly trained K9 narcotics dog with a heart of gold. Trained by Pitbulls On Patrol, a program based in Crestview, FL and founded by Dan Foster of Flex Fitness Center Inc., Butch is ready to serve his community and find a forever home within a Police or Sheriff’s department.
Butch is a loyal and peaceful companion, known for his calm demeanor and eagerness to please. Whether he’s sniffing out narcotics or curling up for a nap, he adapts easily to any environment. His gentle nature makes him a favorite with everyone he meets, and his sharp instincts make him a valuable asset on the job.
Off duty, Butch is the ultimate cuddle buddy—loving, relaxed, and always happy to be near his people. On duty, he’s focused, disciplined, and prepared to get the job done. He also travels exceptionally well, making him ideal for departments that cover large areas or operate across regions.

THE LADIES LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON LAUNCHES IN DESTIN WITH HEART, COMMUNITY, AND A BOLD VISION
On May 29th, more than 80 women gathered aboard the luxurious Solaris Yacht in Sandestin to celebrate the launch of the Ladies Leadership Luncheon (LLL), a bold new networking platform founded by Destin City Lifestyle publisher Carmen Foster, who also rang in her 40th birthday in radiant style.
Created to foster connection, collaboration, and growth, the event transformed a rainy afternoon into a vibrant, joy-filled cruise. Despite the weather, the energy on board was electric. Women danced, laughed, shared stories, and made meaningful connections, all with the serene backdrop of the bay.
LLL is more than an event; it’s a movement. One designed to uplift women by creating space for authentic leadership, shared experiences, and community support. Carmen’s vision brought together women from all walks of life, united by a common goal: to rise, together.
As Carmen shared during the celebration, “This is about showing up for one another. We’re building something that lasts.” The inaugural LLL set the tone for a new wave of purpose-driven, heart-centered leadership.

The event was made possible by the powerhouse LLL leadership team: Melanie Gray, Felicia Cassandra, Sally Foster, Galina Wells, and Julie Webb. Each woman brought her unique voice to the team and helped set the tone for an inspiring day. Julie Webb, co-founder of Advanced Sacred Hope Academy (ASHA), also contributes to LLL’s mission of community and inclusion. Her dedication to special needs education echoes the heart behind this growing movement.
The cruise featured powerhouse keynote speakers who shared their stories of resilience and reinvention. Sally Bower, founder of Sally’s Boat Parties, delivered a fun, unfiltered look at the joy of building a purpose-driven brand. Velia Lala, luxury travel curator and wellness entrepreneur, inspired attendees to lead with clarity, creativity, and intention.
Megan Riddle and Captain Megan Gaster of Legendary Marine electrified the crowd with tales of leadership in a male-dominated industry, encouraging everyone to stand strong, stay true, and embrace leadership with grace and grit.
Valentina Rella Camacho of Costa Mare Catering crafted a breathtaking display of red rose cupcakes that perfectly complemented Carmen’s elegant dress. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, from the rich color to the delicate design, creating a dessert that was as visually striking as delicious. The cupcakes weren’t just a treat; they were a centerpiece, adding beauty and charm to an unforgettable celebration.
Pro Art Photo-Video & DJ, a husband-and-wife team led by George and Ana , added an unforgettable soundtrack to the celebration. Their DJ and MC skills brought the entire event to life. With high-energy music, smooth transitions, and a deep understanding of the crowd, they turned the Solaris into a floating dance floor and celebration space.

As founder of Sally’s Boat Parties, Sally has created one of the most beloved and unique networking experiences on the water, where meaningful connections are made with open skies and gentle waves. Her presentation was inspiring and refreshing, reminding guests that leadership doesn’t have to be stiff or overly formal; it can be joyful, vibrant, and full of heart. Through her journey, Sally exemplifies how authenticity, creativity, and a sense of fun can build strong communities, leading to a powerful, lasting impact. She’s living proof that embracing your true self isn’t just liberating, it’s also an incredible strategy for success.
Velia Lala
Luxury travel curator, wellness entrepreneur, and visual artist, Velia is a master at crafting a life rooted in purpose and passion. Her keynote invited guests to live with intention, to slow down, tune in, and align with their inner light. Drawing from her global journeys and holistic lifestyle, Velia shared how beauty, wellness, and mindfulness can be woven into everyday life. Her message was both elegant and empowering, reminding us that true success comes from alignment, when your actions reflect your authentic self. She left the audience inspired to create with heart, travel with soul, and live with clarity.

Known affectionately as “The Megans,” these dynamic leaders from Legendary Marine brought bold insights, real-world experience, and practical wisdom to the stage. From navigating a male-dominated industry to fostering a culture of collaboration, The Megans emphasized the power of sisterhood, teamwork, and self-belief. Their authenticity and vibrant energy captivated the audience, inspiring everyone to lead with courage, support one another, and embrace the strength that comes from showing up fully and unapologetically as yourself.

Julie brings profound purpose to her leadership role at LLL, seamlessly balancing it with her work as co-founder of Advanced Sacred Hope Academy, a transformative school serving children with autism. As the 2024–2025 academic year concludes, The Barrett School proudly celebrated the graduation of our Pre-K4, Kindergarten, 5th Grade, and 8th Grade students. This special milestone marks not only the academic achievements of our students but also the growth of a vibrant community rooted in curiosity, creativity, and compassion.
This year, we were honored to be named Best STEM Education School in Florida, a recognition of our commitment to innovative, hands-on learning. From robotics and outdoor science labs to digital animation and philosophy circles, our students are encouraged to explore boldly, think critically, and lead confidently.
At Barrett, education is about the whole child. Our inclusive and nurturing environment supports both neurodivergent and neurotypical learners through personalized, inquiry-based instruction. Every child is known, encouraged in their strengths, and supported through their challenges. Our mission is to nurture minds and hearts, teaching students not just how to think, but how to care.
This year’s graduates embody that mission beautifully. Whether coding their first lines of Python, presenting science fair projects on renewable energy, or reciting poetry with confidence, their accomplishments are truly inspiring. Even more importantly, they leave Barrett with resilience, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning.
We are deeply grateful to our dedicated faculty and staff, whose passion and purpose shape the heart of our school. Your vision guides every student’s journey.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to launch new programs like ASU Dual Enrollment, allowing upper school students to earn up to 70 college credits before graduation.
