Kristen And Her Team Were Amazing... I was in a position to sell a home under very unfortunate circumstances, further complicated by me not living in Colorado. They took care of everything — from connecting me with an estate sale company, to replacing the furnace, to collecting and shipping personal keep sakes. Kristen came to the home to meet me within just hours of initial contact and within a few minutes of her leaving I had a text group set up and her team got to work. They were extremely helpful and reassuring and I trusted them to act in my best interest and was not disappointed — with the service or the final sale price! Selling a home is stressful, selling a home out of state is very stressful — they made the process so easy and allowed me to focus on my family.

Happy New Year Denver North family! Good bye 2023 and hello to 2024! The new year is always a time of refection and goal setting, learning from the past and aiming for the future. Many of us set resolutions, and few of us manage to keep them. So here's to a resolution worth keeping. Here's to looking for love in even the smallest places, to noticing the "shimmers" in our everyday, and expressing even the simplest of gratitude to those around us! Recently I took a walk in our glorious mountains and was determined to find beauty in those hills even amidst the winter grays, the bare trees, and the long forgotten wildflowers, now brown and dry. Do you know what I found...love following me up the trail. Yup, heart shaped rocks seemingly everywhere I looked. They were hiding in the snow, tucked behind tree stumps, and splashing in the icy stream. But they were there...love is always there. Sometimes it isn't as pretty as we want it to be, sometimes it isn't where we expect to find it, sometimes we have to squint to see it, but it's always there! So this new year, let's look for love. Not just on a winter hiking trail but in the faces of those we work with, those we live with, those we encounter on our daily errands, even those we drive next to on I-25. Let's find those small shimmers in the daily hum-drum, those hidden gems, those opportunities for gratitude, and those chances to tell the people around us how much they mean to us! With that said, I am Crystal Wright. I am a mother, educator, adventurer, but most of all I am YOUR editor of Denver North. This year, as always, is dedicated to you our readers. Tell me what I can do to make this not just my home, but OUR home. I am here to listen, experience and be your partner on this journey into 2024. Tell me what you want to read. Tell me what you want to eat. Most of all, help me make Denver North your Holiday every month of the year. Mother, Teacher, Neighbor, Editor, and Friend. I am Crystal Wright. Cheers to you our Denver North Friends! Happy New Year!!

Luxurious self-care is the gold standard of wellness, and there is no better place for some self love than Eleven11 Laser + Skincare! Katie Roche and her fully certified, “best of the best” team are passionate about helping you to feel your very best! Katie, the owner and founder of Eleven11, has had a deep desire to help her whole life. She tells the story of working at the cosmetics counter at Nordstroms 20+ years ago and one particular client who changed the trajectory of her life forever. A woman came to see Katie and asked for a makeover. This client was in a rough space personally, was battling cancer, and was just feeling unattractive and low. Katie watched as a bit of time, love, and attention completely changed the glow on this woman from the inside out. She knew that she would work her whole life to continue to give her clients that feeling. Katie has made it her goal to provide every client that walks in her doors the most high quality experience possible. “I just love making people feel better, making them feel comfortable in their own skin and with their own beauty.” Eleven11 prides itself on offering their clients the most advanced and highest quality aesthetic treatments and equipment, using result driven, science based products. Katie and her staff specialize in all things anti-aging, acne care, and laser hair removal. They offer a free consultation to all their clients to ensure that the treatments will be custom tailored to each person’s individual needs and beauty goals. The Diamond Glow is the go-to facial for so many clients because of the way it infuses the serum and penetrates the deepest layers of the skin. Micro-needling is another one of their all time favorites. It works to stimulate the collagen production, promotes incredible anti-aging effects and smooth scarring from acne or other conditions. Speaking of acne, Eleven11 has the best treatment for acne in Denver! They offer a wide range of services such as chemical peels, radio-frequency micro-needling and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment in a customized treatment plan to attack acne and truly clear up your skin once and for all! My favorite treatment offered at Eleven11 is their Laser Hair Removal. They use the most advanced laser with multiple wavelengths so it works for all skin types and provides the maximum treatment. Their laser even has a cooling device to provide comfort so you get an effective treatment with minimal pain and no downtime. While the best equipment, highest quality techniques, and incredible results are awesome, the best feature Eleven11 has to offer is a knowledgeable and genuine staff who truly care about their clients. BA M BOO BE AU T Y Everyday Sabbatical creates sustainable women’s clothing right around the corner
Founder Mini Kil
Ever notice that most clothes are designed by men for celebrities or models on the catwalk. They fit a tiny sliver of the population, chasing trends for social media, and all too often end up in landfills by the next season? Everyday Sabbatical founder, Mini Kil, dreamed of a versatile, effortless wardrobe meant for active women who just need to get on with their busy days. Like most of her friends, she simply wanted clothes that felt luxurious and sophisticated but for everyday wear. They needed to be comfortable and look good for all sorts of settings: errands, carpools, happy hours, Zoom meetings, work trips, yoga, etc. She also insisted on using soft, sustainable bamboo fabric. That’s a tall order! Fast-forward to when the world shut down in March 2020, Mini tackled this issue head on with her Capsule Collection: “I started with designing out all my pet peeves. Our dresses, joggers, and shorts all have functional yet sleek pockets. None of our bottoms have drawstrings. Each neckline is flattering for any age and our dresses have a forgiving frame for shifting waistlines.” As the daughter of hard-working immigrant parents from Korea who were small business owners themselves, she knew it would be a hard and risky but an irresistible adventure nonetheless.

A girl in ruby slippers taught us that there is no place like home, and she was right! However, a cluttered home is a recipe for stress, overwhelm, and over spending. How do we combat this feeling and once and for all begin to create a healthy, organized, functional home? Enter Stephanie Sikora and her home organization company, Sikora Solutions! She is Denver’s premier home organizer who can turn your life’s chaos into calm! Stephanie has a background in health care, which made her move into the health and wellness space of home organization a natural transition. I got to sit down with Stephanie and pick her brain for her best tips on how to begin the journey of organization and why it is so important for our health to have an organized space. Why is home organization critical for all of us? When we look at our hierarchy of needs, our environment is the critical foundation. It is actually a major predictor of our health…the environment we surround ourselves in impacts not just our mental health but in turn our physical health, our financial health, and our relational health. While Stephanie knows as well as anyone that behavior change can be hard for everyone, she has some simple tips to get us started! First, we must simplify! Focus on one small section of a room to begin: one drawer, one book shelf, your desk. Pull everything out, look at all of your stuff. Clear out and declutter in order to quiet the overwhelm and begin with a blank space. Forget all the bins and baskets, set a timer for 15 minutes and declutter that small space with a small trash bag and a box for donations. Keep it simple and focus on what’s easiest. Each small step you take motivates the next small step and the healthier you get, the more motivated you become. Next, systematize your space. Be honest about your behaviors and how willing

you are to change. You need to create systems that truly fit the way you use the space. Placing your things strategically in a space and in a way that fits the patterns of the people using the space dramatically increases the chances that the system will work for you. Creating a system allows for habits to form. Finally, once your space has been simplified and systems have been created, then your work becomes sustaining those systems. Think about comparing your home organization to your physical fitness routine. You have to keep up with it for the benefits to remain. Be intentional about what you bring into you home to avoid cluttering things up again. And, be open to adjusting your systems as needed - seasons change, kids grow, interests evolve. Make sure your space works for you! So this new year, perhaps the best diet we can all start is a space diet; purge the clutter and focus on your health from inside your own home! Dr. Melissa Goodpaster isn't just a dentist; she's a visionary. Her passion for dental perfection is the cornerstone of her practice, an ethos that radiates from every corner of her office. Nestled in the heart of Cherry Creek, her practice stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment to her craft. When she began, Dr. Goodpaster was a lone warrior, meticulously tending to the oral health of her patients. Her gentle touch and keen eye for detail set her apart, garnering the trust and admiration of the community. It's wasn't long before her reputation spread far and wide, drawing patients from neighboring communities seeking the touch of the dentist who seems to possess a magic wand. Yet, Dr. Goodpaster knew that in order to achieve true dental perfection, a team of like-minded professionals was needed. She embarked on a mission to handpick the finest talents in the field, individuals who share her vision for excellence. Dr. Jonathan Brooks, an orthodontist with an uncanny knack for crafting smiles, was the first to join her ranks. His meticulous approach to alignment and symmetry complements Dr. Goodpaster's own dedication to detail. Next came Dr. Emily Chen, an endodontist with a reputation for saving teeth that others deem beyond repair. Her steady hands and unwavering patience are the perfect match for the challenging cases that cross their threshold. Together, they form a triumvirate of dental expertise, each member bringing their unique skills to the table. Dr. Goodpaster's office is a harmonious symphony of talent, where each note plays a crucial role in achieving the grand crescendo of dental perfection. Patients marvel at the seamless coordination between the doctors,
their treatments seamlessly intertwining to provide comprehensive care. In a short time, the office flourished, becoming the beacon of dental excellence in the community. Dr. Goodpaster's dedication to her craft never wanes; she's the first to arrive and the last to leave, ensuring that every patient receives the best care possible. Her tireless pursuit of perfection is an inspiration not only to her team but to the entire community. Dr. Brooks, with his passion for aesthetics, transforms smiles with precision and artistry. Dr. Chen, with her gentle touch, saves countless teeth, restoring not just oral health but also the confidence of her patients. Together, they form a trinity that seems almost divine in its ability to heal and rejuvenate. Dr. Goodpaster's commitment to her patients extends beyond the confines of her office walls. She organizes community outreach programs, offering free dental check-ups to those in need. Her altruism touches the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the town she calls home. In the end, Dr. Goodpaster's legacy won't be just one of dental perfection, but also of compassion, community, and unwavering dedication. Her office stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a team of like-minded individuals comes together with a shared vision. Each member of her team contributes a vital piece to the puzzle, creating a symphony of care that resonates with every patient who walks through their doors. Dr. Melissa Goodpaster's story isn't just one of success, but of a profound and lasting impact on the lives of those she serves. Her dedication to perfection, both in her craft and in her service to the community, is a guiding light for all who have the privilege of knowing her.

"We didn't land on Plymouth rock......." Wrong Plymouth! This is THE PLIMOTH! In the heart of Denver, The Plimoth restaurant stands as a culinary haven shaped by the remarkable journey of Chef Pete. Born and bred amidst the sizzle of kitchens on both the East and West coasts, Chef Pete's culinary odyssey reached its zenith when he made Denver his home in 1999. His immersion into the culinary arts began under the tutelage of Chef Michael Comstedt, a distinguished expert holding the titles CEC, CCE, at the Cook Street School of Culinary Arts. Chef Pete's gastronomic prowess garnered attention and accolades, earning him a nomination for Rising Chef of the Year from Denver Magazine during his stint at Z Cuisine. Yet, his impact extended beyond individual accolades. As the Executive Chef Instructor at Cook Street School of Culinary Arts, he became an influential force, shaping the culinary narrative of

Am I an Artist, or do I Just Like Art? Throughout my career as an Artist, one of the most complicated things to understand is precisely being and believing that I am an Artist. (For example, as a Hispanic, before, I never understood the difference between a painter or painting to create art, but that is a part of another analysis.) That is why I would like to emphasize to all those who read this section, live or feel art in some way. A recommendation: practice it and learn how to truly channel the feeling that you have towards it. As an Artist I often cross paths with individuals who are overflowing with artistic talents and a handful of them seem uncertain on what to do with

these “hobbies”. They enjoy it greatly and are not sure how to activate it completely and practice what it is they are truly passionate about. The most important thing is to identify your qualities and develop them. Not only in personal taste, but there are also ways to be compensated and make a little extra income. That will continue to support your passion. Remember that your qualities deserve to be seen by others and many more are waiting for that great artist who is still asleep. Believe in that talent make your own dreams a reality and feed that daily thought that tells you that you should try it. NEW YEAR’S TR A NSFOR M ATION As the New Year approaches, the air is filled with resolutins and transformation challenges. Gyms offer promotions, social media floods with #NewYearNewMe, and many embark on ambitious goals to transform their lives. However, the question arises: Should transformation challenges be confined to the start of a new year? ARTICLE BY COURTNEY SAMUEL
The allure of a fresh beginning often leads individuals to set bold fitness goals, promising themselves a total lifestyle makeover. While this enthusiasm is commendable, focusing solely on the New Year’s period might set unrealistic expectations and limit the potential for lasting change. Here’s why shifting the focus from yearly resolutions to continual lifestyle transformation challenges and consistency can yield more sustainable results:
5. Celebrating Progress and Adaptation: Acknowledging progress, no matter how small, is vital in a lifestyle transformation journey. Recognizing achievements along the way reinforces positive behavior and encourages adaptation. Adjusting strategies based on what works and what doesn’t ensures continuous growth towards wellness.
1. Emphasizing Lifestyle Transformation: Rather than viewing fitness challenges as isolated events tied to the calendar, considering them as part of an ongoing lifestyle shift can be more effective. True transformation occurs when small, consistent changes accumulate over time. It’s about embracing habits that become woven into daily life, fostering long-term health and wellness.
2. Consistency Over Temporary Resolutions: The concept of a “New Year, New Me” resolution often leads to intense bursts of motivation followed by a quick burnout. The key lies in consistency. Building sustainable habits, such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and mindful practices, contributes more significantly to one’s overall well-being than short-lived, intense efforts.
3. Shifting Mindsets and Setting Realistic Goals: Transformation challenges at any time of the year should encourage a shift in mindset. Instead of fixating on rapid, drastic changes, they should promote realistic, achievable goals. Setting smaller milestones helps build confidence and motivation, making it easier to maintain the journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
4. Community and Support: Transformation challenges, when integrated into a lifestyle, often involve a community aspect. Regular check-ins, support from peers or trainers, and shared experiences create a support system that fosters accountability and motivation, making it easier to stay consistent throughout the year.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Transformation challenges need not be confined to the beginning of the year. Instead, they should be seen as ongoing opportunities for personal growth and improvement. By focusing on lifestyle changes and consistent habits, individuals can experience more sustainable transformations that transcend the boundaries of a yearly resolution. In the end, the journey towards a healthier lifestyle is not a sprint but a marathon—a continual process of growth, learning, and adaptation. By embracing this mindset and staying consistent throughout the year, true and lasting transformation becomes not just a goal but a way of life. STR IPPED DOW N

Many of us start the New Year with renewed attention to our mental and physical health. In Colorado especially, we start to see the effects of harsh weather on our skin. Yes, I’m borderline militant about SPF year round, but historically I have not been the best about self-care. In the mix of everything we balance, all too often the skin-care rituals I know are good for me are soon neglected. The wear and tear on my body in my 40s is much more evident than it was in my 20s when I could live off of mere hours of sleep. I woke up one morning and realized things HAD to change. I didn’t know what but I knew it was time to invest in something beyond drug-store afterthoughts. Enter STRIPPED Skin Science, a female owned, Denver-based startup committed to providing a science-based, all natural skincare line. Founded by Jen Seda, a PhD/MD and Rachel Kilian, a Clinical Scientist, STRIPPED offers a flagship product called ‘The Essential’, which has been a game changer for me. This stem-cell and pure essential oil based facial serum has NO chemical stabilizers or preservatives. A 2023 clinical trial showed skin regeneration, collagen growth, noticeable reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, skin healing and hydration, as well as a youthful glow. Who doesn’t want that? The one catch is that it has bio-active and living ingredients so you need to commit to a subscription for it to be fresh and effective. I work hard to take care of myself, exercise, meditate… all the things. So why would I continue using products for my skin packed with chemical stabilizers or

preservatives that I wouldn’t allow in my food? I use “The Essential” at the start and end of my day and it does not disappoint. This has become my sacred, self-care ritual that makes me feel and look good year round. ‘The Essential’ is handcrafted in small monthly batches in a local lab in Castle Rock, Colorado. It is formulated using a proprietary stem-cell growth factor blend and cold-pressed organic essential oils, each chosen for their proven healing properties, and nothing more. QU E S T I O N S F O R S E DA A N D K I L I A N: Q. ARE STEM-CELLS JUST HYPE? Seda: Stem-cells are proven to boost skin turnover. We obsessively researched and refined our formulas that fight the appearance of aging. Our recent clinical trial showed noticeable reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, skin regeneration, collagen growth, and participants reported a youthful glow. Q. WHY IS IT A SUBSCRIPTION MODEL? Seda: We stripped out all the fillers and toxic extras most skincare products use. We use a stem-cell growth factor mixed with cold-pressed organic essential oils selected for anti-inflammatory, healing properties. For you to reap the full benefits, we make fresh batches in our lab every month. Kilian: Consumers are let down by buzzwords and empty promises. There’s no substance behind fancy packaging and celebrity names. There’s a demand for proven, natural, responsible ingredients. Q. ANY ADVICE FOR SKINCARE IN HARSH COLORADO WINTERS? Kilian: We all love the great outdoors in Colorado but our skin gets damaged from sun and wind. Morning and night after you wash your face, be sure to moisturize right away! Seda: Skincare should be an effortless, sacred, selfcare ritual. The more diligent you are about that, the better your results.
