result of Colorado’s apparent healthcare availabil ity, according to Elisa: “When I moved from Florida to Colorado about six years ago, I realized that Colorado has a lot more availability for people in the healthcare field to get involved in other specialties outside of the hospital. Although she’s newer to the niche field of med spas, Elisa trained for several months prior to opening Bliss Med Spa off of West Sixth. Plus, her tenure in critical care, post-heart transplant, and contri butions to trauma teams over the past 15 years provided a solid foundation for med spa applications: “I’ve gained plenty of experience using needles for major inva sive procedures, which has helped with my understanding of facial anatomy.”
Speaking of her staff, the med spa is run by two estheticians: Elisa, the owner; Yaro, a young and driven esthetician who’ll soon start training in injections; and Jessie, who’d managed childcare for several years before jumping aboard the med spa train.

Contemplating your own demise and compiling financial information isn’t the most fun. But once you’ve submitted the relevant information, it can take as little as one or two weeks to wrap up.”

Men’s haircuts nowadays are all too simple. They’re often rushed, chit-chat is slim, and there’s no sham poo before the cut. But over at The Look Salon off Madison Street, Orion River Krynen’s barber chair offers a far more personalized experience.
And when it comes to men’s cutting, he enjoys offering styles that not many other barbers are privy to - likely due to his self-taught nature.

Of course, Orion is a fully-certified cosmetol ogist and recently licensed barber out of Emily Griffith Technical College. But that was only after years of skating and bartending to get by, while cutting his friends’ and girlfriend’s hair on the side. However, he frowned at the idea of growing up as a bartender, especially since not many bars hire older bartenders. While it was admittedly one of the most fun roles he’d been in, Orion sought a path that’d take him elsewhere.
During that time, before his formal education, Orion developed a unique style that had been unseen in cos metology school. Although, he stresses that men’s cutting isn’t a big focus throughout the program.
As a licensed cosmetologist and barber for the past eight years who cut his own hair as a child, you can trust that he’s honed his craft. DO: When I entertain, my general approach is: Abundant Simplicity. Appetizers are generous piles of a few different things – olives, hunks of parme san, spiced nuts, torn bread with herby oil to dunk in, sliced Persian cucumbers with a pool of labne or Greek yogurt, olive oil, and flaky salt for dipping. I look for recipes that are simple or that I’ve made 100 times before that are always crowd pleasers and leave me plenty of time to enjoy my company. The whole point of a beautiful evening together is to make sure you, the host, are relaxed and comfortable, because your guests will take their cue from you. I always set a drink out that guests can help themselves to when they arrive, which frees my hands up to continue any final preparations and has the added benefit of help ing them get comfortable and feel right at home.
DO: I find a little gift basket of some of my favor ite seasoning essentials goes a long way and feels personal and unique.
