Lifestyle Letter
Hey Dads and Dudes!
JUNE 2017
I
so want to say welcome to summer and yes, in a few weeks, it will be that according to the calendar…but I think, in spirit and energy, it has already arrived. That’s the beauty of living here. Many people say we don’t have true seasons but I think we do - we almost have two seasons… ‘Almost Summer’ and ‘Summer’. There are possibly a few days of June gloom we may have ahead but there is plenty of sunshine, surf and beach fun in your future to look forward to.
This month, we wanted to salute some of the Men of Influence in our community. This is by no means every guy who is making a mark in the community but a few of the dudes that are shaping what is next for us. I hope you enjoy learning their story and sharing in their larger than life personalities as much as we did. Father’s Day is coming up, and while we featured some great spots to celebrate mom in town last month, see what the men in your life want to enjoy this month and take the day to make it happen. I still remember golf with my dad who started my passion for the game and just enjoying a good evening fire out with family. I thank my dad every day for a work hard, play hard attitude!

This year, I’m looking forward to seeing the summer through the eyes of my son Sam. He is quite the little man already with his passion for aviation and sea life. Bringing his creative ideas to life will provide lifelong learning for him and a lifetime of opportunities for teaching, support and appreciation for me. Hope you find some great ideas in this issue for celebrating the men in your life, and will share your memories with us on our social media channels below.

Book & Music by James Valcq Lyrics & Book by Fred Alley Directed by Jeffrey Moss Based on a film by Lee David Zlotoff
Honest and emotional, this heartfelt musical tells the engaging tale of a young woman with an uncertain past. A compelling heartwarming tale of redemption and fortitude. Filled with inspirational melodies, and an emotionally soaring score, this all-American musical serves up an abundance of warmth, spirit and goodwill. Open your heart and visit THE SPITFIRE GRILL.
JULY 12 – AUGUST 6 By Nagle Jackson Directed by Andrew Barnicle
An uproarious comedy about a bohemian theatre troupe who find themselves performing in an Eastern European police state. However, there is more drama backstage than onstage, with romantic entanglements, political intrigue and a wildly funny climax. It’s a laugh a minute, and you’ll leave the theatre reveling in the merriment.

el Mar is a city with a small-town vibe and we confirmed what we knew, that the businesses and people are here
because of the sense of community and the kind nature of its residents. When you see these men around town, perhaps offer them their favorite drink and convivial conversation will ensue. That's what we discovered when we wanted to know more about the men of Del Mar. Of course, ambiance and libations at the iconic L'Auberge Living Room were an integral part of the evening. WATCH A SHOW If you are so inclined, there is no dearth of performances you can check out in Defending the Caveman
Vegas but the Cirque du Soleil shows are always up there in terms of production and cinematography - Take a walk down memory lane with The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage. Or go low-key with a comedy show like Defending the Caveman depicting the battle of the sexes through time. The Better Way to Buy a Bicycle, involves three steps: 1. OPTIMIZE: Moment Bicycles starts with a biomechanical
assessment called ‘position optimization’. The rider is put on a ‘robot’ and works with a bike fitter who optimizes the rider’s position based on his/her needs. 2. SYNCHRONIZE: Moment staff virtually configures and
builds the bike for the rider using proprietary software. Bikes are matched to riders, graphically leading to the best choice possible for a particular riders position. 3. CUSTOMIZE: Each bike is built to match each rider, which is
TOTALLY different from every other bike shop in the country. With the right fit assured, the rider is more comfortable, confident and powerful on their bike. Moment Bicycles carries the world’s leading bicycle brands, including Specialized, Giant, Cervelo, BMC, Liv, Felt, and Parlee. However, as Lyons explains, whether you are looking for a road, mountain, triathlon or simple hybrid bike, each model and brand performs differently for different people. “Different bikes and different brands not only serve different needs, but also have different geometry, proportions and fit,” Lyons says. “Bicycling is a repetitive activity, and one that requires a significant amount of time with your body interfacing with a fixed machine. Finding the right bike that will accommodate your best position is essential to not only maximize performance and comfort, but to minimize injury as well.” Visit Moment Bicycles today to get your next adventure off on the right pedal, thanks to a unique process that matches you, with precision, to the bike of your dreams. After all, it is… The Better Way to Buy a Bicycle. MomentBicycles.com

What is AudAbility? The AudAbility series of classes are designed specifically for the needs of people with Parkinson’s.
