INTRODUCING KAT JAMIESON

Founder of Everyone Loves the Weekend, a new timeless fashion line
PHOTOGRAPHY

14 years ago, Kat Jamieson started her blog 'With Love from Kat,' after working in the fashion industry and living in New York City. After studying interior design in college, Kat realized her ultimate passion was fashion. She was able to use her blog as a creative outlet tying in her love of fashion, decor, wellness, travel, beauty and so much more.

Flash forward to present day and Kat has written her own book, "Blended" and successfully launched the clothing brand, Everyone Loves the Weekend. A name fitted for the level of style she has created.

Kat, and her husband, Thomas got married 3 years ago in Nantucket and now live in New Canaan. As an avid traveler, Kat has used some of her favorite places she has visited as inspiration for her pieces including Nantucket, Capri and St. Barth. Through each of her designs, you are able to see the intricate details she has worked in, a taste of those stunning destinations.

Darien New Canaan Lifestyle spoke with Kat, the creative visionary behind this brand.

DNCL: WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO CREATE “EVERYONE LOVES THE WEEKEND” AND WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR BRAND?

KJ: I felt there was a need for quality midi-style dresses that were both timeless and flattering.  I love wearing dresses, they’re so easy to throw on and can be dressed up or down.  I wanted a collection that prioritized beautiful fabric, so I set out to use the finest 100% linen and cotton material I could find!  The collection is full of classic, effortlessly chic pieces that you’ll have for years to come.

I’ve always been extremely creative and had a love of fashion and design. My first job when I was 16 was working at a local clothing boutique, and then from there I became a sales associate at Calypso St. Barth and then Saks. I remember spending my entire paycheck on clothes, I was in heaven being surrounded by beautiful things every day.

DNCL: THIS ISSUE IS ALL ABOUT “STYLE” WHAT ARE SOME FASHION TIPS YOU HAVE FOR PEOPLE AS WE APPROACH THE FALL?

KJ: Cinch your waist with a thick brown leather belt like the one I’m wearing here. It instantly adds contrast and dimension to an all black or white silhouette. I’m a big fan of re-wearing my clothes.  I do a ton of monochromatic outfits in the fall and then have fun with the accessories to mix it up.  I also love doing a simple head-to-toe black outfit with a saddle color leather bag and Chanel ballet flat. Jackie Kennedy has always been a huge style inspiration for me.  If you look back at photos of her outfits from 50 years ago, they’re still just as stylish today!

Don’t be afraid to wear ivory in the winter. Winter whites are beautiful.

“My

DNCL: WHY DO YOU FEEL THIS COMMUNITY IS IMPORTANT AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT IT?

KJ: I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how inviting the Fairfield County community is.  We’ve loved having our neighbors over for cozy wine nights by the fire and immediately felt at home in the area.  It’s been fun to connect with so many NYC transplants as well as fellow female entrepreneurs.  There’s such a wonderful mix of culture, style, work ethic, and warmth here!

Having a small business isn’t easy, and I’ve been so grateful for the women who have rallied behind me during this launch.  Within the first week, women who I had just met were opening up their yoga studios, homes and boutiques for our trunk shows.  The love and support we’ve felt from this community has been incredible.

September is the perfect time for a refresh, a time to treat yourself and enhance your confidence. If you're looking for a skin treatment to help build your radiance, Skin By Sarah Medical will help fulfill your needs.

Dr. Sarah Lacarrubba specializes in injectable, medical-grade skin treatments. She is a board-certified physician and a member of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. After becoming a board-certified physician, she practiced family medicine in New York City  for over a decade. "Throughout this experience, I loved providing the highest level of care while making patients feel comfortable. I bring this approach to my medical aesthetics practice," Sarah explained.

"I love the artistry in medical aesthetics and focuses on enhancing each person’s natural beauty. I work individually with each patient to develop a tailored treatment plan that meets their short and long-term aesthetic goals."

WITH SKIN

“I LOVE SEEING HOW CONFIDENT PATIENTS

ARE AFTER RECEIVING A TREATMENT!”

Sarah specializes in facial treatments that reduce wrinkles and restore definition and volume, using the best quality neurotoxin and dermal fillers, including Botox, Dysport, and Restylane. She also focuses on chemical peels and exosome microneedling to improve skin texture and tone.

DNCL: WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB?

SL: Empowering women (and men!) to feel their best and reclaim their individuality. I love seeing how confident patients are after receiving a treatment. I once had a patient tell me that her neurotoxin treatment changed her life, and improved her relationship with her husband. She had just had a baby, and was looking and feeling exhausted.  The treatment was a game changer, both physically and mentally!

DNCL: WHY ARE SKIN CARE TREATMENTS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE?

SL: Your skin is the largest organ of your body! It acts as a barrier to our internal systems that are imperative to our health. Taking steps to properly care for our skin helps to ensure health and longevity.

As we age, our skin cells regenerate less frequently, which contributes to signs of aging. Receiving injectable skincare treatments, such as Sculptra, builds collagen, keeping your skin looking and feeling its best. In addition, using a high-quality medical grade skin care plan, such as the SkinBetter Science line, helps regenerate skin cell production to maintain healthy and youthful skin.    Our skin also plays a vital role in protecting us from the sun and it’s harmful rays. That’s why daily sunscreen is imperative to all, as skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and can occur in people of all ages.

DNCL:

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MOST POPULAR SERVICES?

SL: Definitely neurotoxin, also known as Botox! I also offer dermal fillers, exosome microneeedling with Plated, chemical peels, and Upneeq eyedrops. I am hoping to add a functional medicine component to my practice over the next year, allowing me to integrate my family medicine background with my passion for aesthetic medicine.

Sarah is a proud community member of Darien and mother of two boys. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, shopping, dancing (poorly), and, of course, napping.

THE STYLE LIST BY @STYLEELYST

SEPTEMBER STYLE

September is upon us, darlings, and with it comes a glorious shift in style. Gone are the carefree days of sundresses and sandals, in their place, a sophisticated symphony of textures and tones. It's time to embrace the chic aesthetic that defines autumnal fashion. From rich plaid prints to refined statement jackets to mini skirts, this season is all about layering, luxury and a lot of texture.

IRO | PARIS, FRANCE

Featuring the MARCELINE Tweed Shorts, $375. The MARCELINE high-rise tweed shorts redefine fall sophistication. With their clean lines, spacious patch pockets, and versatile straight cut, these shorts effortlessly capture the micro-trend while elevating it with a refined, contemporary tweed pattern.

The allure of bare legs paired with these shorts in the early season, or the depth of layering them with tights as the weather cools. Styling: A crisp white button-down and a trench or leather jacket offer classic contrasts, while a suede jacket injects a playful, textural dimension. The MARCELINE shorts are a canvas for endless styling possibilities, promising to be a cornerstone of any fashion-forward wardrobe.

LUXURY

SAINT LAURENT

Featuring the Uptown Compact Wallet in Noir Crocodile-Embossed Shiny Leather, $595. This wallet represents a thoughtful departure from the minimalist trend. While not petite, its generous dimensions are far from cumbersome. Multiple compartments, a billfold, and ample card slots ensure both practicality and organization. It’s a wallet that commands attention without being overbearing, a versatile accessory suited for most handbags but perhaps too substantial for the confines of a micro bag or clutch. The elegant hardware and embossed detailing lend a touch of luxury, creating a timeless piece that effortlessly transitions from day to night.

REFORMATION

Featuring the Arella Linen Dress in Tartine Check, $218 The fashion world is experiencing a resurgence of classic patterns, and this season, plaid, tartan, and check are undeniably taking center stage. These timeless motifs are reimagined with a modern twist, infusing our wardrobes with a sense of nostalgia and effortless chic.

Amidst this trend, I discovered this versatile dress that seamlessly transitions from the waning days of summer to the crisp embrace of autumn. Its fitted bodice and A-line skirt create a flattering silhouette that complements a variety of body types.

ALI WEISS | FINE JEWELRY

Featuring the Micro Light Oval Chain in 14K Yellow Gold, $225 and the Small Pearl with Diamond, $300. The understated allure of a dainty necklace, adorned with the timeless elegance of a pearl pendant, is a testament to the enduring power of less is more. This exquisite pairing is sophistication in its purest form, a delicate balance of refinement and restraint.

NILI LOTAN | DESIGNED IN TRIBECA, NYC | EST. 2003

Featuring the Lise Jacket in Roosevelt Khaki, $1,425. This boxy cropped lapel jacket is more than just a garment; it’s a declaration of style. Crafted from luxurious wool, this piece is poised to become the focal point of any autumn wardrobe. Its silhouette offers a modern twist on classic tailoring, while the cropped length strikes the perfect balance between edgy and elegant.

The meticulous details are what truly elevate this jacket. From the crisp lapel and full button closure to the sophisticated seaming and polished gold crest buttons, every element exudes refined craftsmanship. The back tabs, epaulettes, and wide cuffs add layers of visual interest, while the practical pockets and fully lined interior ensure both style and function.

This jacket is a chameleon, effortlessly transitioning from day to night. Pair it with tailored trousers for a powerful office look or dress it down with jeans and sneakers for a casual yet chic ensemble. Its versatility and timeless appeal make it an investment piece that will stand the test of time.

STILL HERE NEW YORK

Featuring the Martini Skirt in Navy, $145. The mini skirt has undeniably recaptured the fashion spotlight. Yet, amidst a sea of familiar silhouettes, the Marni knit mini emerges as refreshing. Its textured fabric injects a palpable sense of dimension and intrigue into an otherwise ubiquitous trend. While navy might not be the first choice for those deeply rooted in the allure of black, this season’s iteration proves captivating. A bold and unexpected choice, it breathes new life into the classic mini, making it a musthave for fashion-forward individuals seeking to stand out.

LONDONTOWN | CLEAN BEAUTY CRAFTED WITH CARE

Featuring Changing of the Guards, $16. This red polish is a luxurious, deep crimson crème, fit for royalty. Face Yoga! New Youthful Trend:

Facial acupressure point 8
“The Face Yoga Method is a series of exercises designed to work the facial muscles to maintain suppleness and youthfulness, toning the muscles and lifting the skin.”

Do you ever wonder why you work out your entire body, but not your face? Well, I did and, as a yoga instructor for two decades, I decided face yoga was a perfect addition to my aging plan and became certified in the FitFace Method.

You too can work out your face (in addition to or instead of med spa treatments and facelifts) to move from anti-aging to pro-aging in a holistic way!

"The Face Yoga Method is a series of exercises designed to work the facial muscles to maintain suppleness and youthfulness, toning the muscles and lifting the skin, " explains Dora Peric, the creator of The Fit Face Method, which got its start in Dubai.

A face yoga session is a combination of 7 components: meditation, facial posture exploration, Gua Sha sculpting, facial massage, muscle exercises, acupressure, and a face roller cool down.

The 10 facial toning exercises aim to tone and lifting the forehead, eyelids, under eyes, cheeks, frowning muscles, jowls and neck.

For the purposes of this article, readers can sample a part of a Face Yoga session by learning the acupressure. It will leave you relaxed and detoxed.  Continue to breathe during the 3 minute acupressure and hydrate.

If you feel a blissful facial afterglow, go in for the full face yoga treatment with a certified professional to instruct you in an hour class of traditional yoga and face yoga. Non-yogis will enjoy a 30-minute face yoga class or private session for the exercises. After about 2 months of daily practice, you will notice a difference. Be sure to take before and after pictures!

Namaste to a new, toned and lifted face.

Acupressure:

To experience a complete relaxation and afterglow in the face, along with lymphatic drainage of toxins, you can find each pressure point and hold pressure with fingers for 10 seconds, massage in a circular motion for 10 and then tap on the spot for 10 seconds. Remember to breathe, find the spot that feels a little sore and get to work!

1. Middle of forehead

2. Middle of the eyebrows

3. Between the beginning of the eyebrow and the eye

4. Temples

5. The cheekbone directly under the pupil

6. The jawbone (easy to find the spot if you clench or grind your teeth)

7. The side of the nostrils

8. Under the nostrils on the chin

9. Corners of the lips

16 SOPHIE YORK,

DARIEN HIGH SCHOOL

What inspires you to get involved with your community?

Making an impact inspires me to get involved with my community. I have learned that community involvement comes with building bonds with peers while helping people in less fortunate situations. I enjoy strengthening my connection to the community.

“‘Always go slow to go fast.’ I take this to not rush through life and to take my time to appreciate the things I have now.”

What clubs and organizations do you belong to?

I’m the co-president of the Darien chapter of Feeding500, an all-high school student-run volunteer organization that raises money and food for the Opens Doors shelter in Norwalk. We host food drives and fundraisers for the shelter, including our new annual fundraiser, Carving That Counts. Feeding500 is a core part of our community as it unites students of many grades under the goal of getting involved in the community and aiding those less fortunate.

What is your favorite part about living in the Darien area?

The proximity to NYC. I love how we get to experience city life and learn about how that life works while also experiencing life in a small town. With Darien, I also appreciate our excellent school system and all the opportunities that the youth of this community have because of that. My favorite local business is definitely UCBC. I love going there for breakfast with my friends, and I think it is such a warm and welcoming place. In addition, I love Weed Beach, as it was a big part of my childhood.

Any words of inspiration or advice?

“Always go slow to go fast.” I take this to not rush through life and to take my time to appreciate the things I have now. By doing this, I think I have a more positive outlook on life, and it keeps me motivated in my day-to-day life and schoolwork.
